I’ve been wanting to post fan art from Resolve for forever now, but I was so terrified of spoiling other people on here TT this game is literally so good that I would feel so bad if I spoiled any part of it for someone, it’s so exciting when you see things happen in the game!

Some thoughts in general on Resolve! Oh my god TT that scene with the Kazuma revival.. it literally makes me want to CRY when I watch it, or listen to it or THINK about it or-

The expressions they all have in that scene never fail to get to me. Kazuma’s initial look, then his expression softening as he finally sees Ryunosuke and Susato, THR FACE RYUU MAKES WHEN HE ACTUALLY GETS TO SEE KAZUMA IN FULL?? they should’ve gotten to hug, guys. The line where Kazuma says something like “thank you for guiding my friend here, when I could not..” !!?????!! STOP IT FOREVER..

also, I’ve come to really like Homumiko as a ship, their relationship feels very genuine and warm to me. There was an incredible post on here by user I’m-on-speeeeeed talking about how the usual deduction theme is in a very difficult and clunky time signature, but in the deduction with Mikotoba.. the time signature in Partners becomes the easiest, most natural one, working together seamlessly like a well oiled machine. They literally complete each other to the extent that even the MUSIC is affected???? Oh my god TT this game really is so freaking good, I wish there was a prequel game with Sholmes and Mikotoba as partners, or maybe even an investigations style spin off, the same way you get to play as Gregory Edgeworth. I would buy that so fast actually

the snow white story square of projection and suffering

aka my major at ever after high tumblr academy.dancing around all my points because i dont know how to format this. but its literally just for me and one other person so i don't quite... care....

1,2 well we all know this because it is three quarters of the premise of the entire first arc. i really love their initial fundamental incompatibility and i don't really ship rapple but i don't not ship it. it's perfect in the context of the square of.projection and suffeirng because both parents see their daughters as like... a second go at it. which does a great deal of harm to literally everyone. an important parallel is apple's faith in raven after signing the book in way too wonderland vs snow white's "faith" in the "reformed" evil queen in dragon games

3 wants to make her mother proud (and fix her own life with destiny) (which she thinks will work primarily because of how snow raised her) by following the family tradition and being perfect like her and putting destiny over everything etc. um i blame snow for a lot. not everything because i'm not really here to throw her under the bus just to defend apple but also apple is a little girl and the product of her environment. another important parallel: under the equallyish strong influences of their two deranged mothers, raven managed to form and hold on to her own identity much earlier (and more skilfully) than apple. of course you have to take into consideration that raven's mother has been in prison for a while (weaker influence), but i think it's interesting..

4 snow does love apple so much - i'd have to be stupid to deny that - but i think she thinks she does everything for apple when in reality she does most of these things for herself. also likely living through apple because her own life is so miserable but who am i to presume.e....ll

5,6 literally everything the evil queen does is for raven. this is like the easiest one. she loves raven so much and is cripplingly obsessed with raven and would do anything just to make raven want to be like her. in dg she held back until raven left the school and she was ready to leave the second raven joined her. sure it's a very damaging love, and everyone would be better off if it didn't exist..[.l.............. raven does have some affection for her mother too because she visits regularly and doesn't hold much of a grudge but there is always going to be that uncomfortable awareness of how much she doesn't want to be like her mother (thereby literally always rejecting her). is it crazy to anyone else that ravens mother ends up taking on ravens role in apples story

7 snow is in love with the evil queen! it's pretty clear! i just posted about this and have written about this and will post and write more so not really in the mood to rehash my favourite eah ship. snow endangered her entire kingdom for a high school rivalry because she does not know how to move on. i do think she is a little more obsessed with eq than eq is with her which is a very difficult thing to be.

8 is probably in love with snow but more importantly knows that snow is in love with her. again, i dont feel like i have to go into their past and explain how inextricably bound they are but she literally puppy eyed snow into letting her stay and coach a team of vulnerable high school students because snow is weak and silly when it comes to her. but eq is silly too...... not turning snow into a snake right away and instead trapping her to taunt her........ and then later using her soulless body as a coat rack............... is just so cute. hahaha does anyone remember alistair's memories of the wonderland curse (snow and apples) from his diary (which makes me sick) like their story is so deeply important to her.

9 freed by apple, compares her to snow (because thats gotta something she thinks about a lot) by praising snow (?????????), grooms her using the promise of destiny*, literally plays the evil queen role in her story (poisons her), imprisoned again by her (and raven). a really important closed loop. one of the most important relationships in eah. to me. i dont know i think it is fucking insane that she poisoned two snow whites. you cant do something like that for the second time and not think obsessively about the first time. *people will disagree with me which is fine but as a depiction of grooming in a children's show apple and the evil queen are more than passable, and one of my personal favourites

10 a lot of this is subtextual or just my assumptions but i think it's really interesting and worth digging into that raven ends up playing captain on snow's team (and that only happens because of apple and eq). you start to wonder what traits snow is trying to discern in raven that she knows from the evil queen and you wonder how she feels about the insurmountable differences between them. and you also start to wonder if raven is trying to reconcile the image of snow white with her daughter and making all of my unpleasant rapple mother-daughter comparisons on her own. and u start getting scared

11 snow is kind of forced to care more about raven than she normally would because raven is screwing up her daughter's entire story (does screwing up stories sound familiar to anyone) not much more to say because i put most of it above. but there should be - i think snow and raven could have an incredibly interesting relationship if everyon ejust squinted a little and believed all the things i say about them.

12 my terrible victim! my golden girl. by calling apple a victim all the time i'm not excusing her actions (plus i always preface with "terrible") but i am acknowledging that the evil queen preyed on her weakness and desperation and mother issues (see hair combing scene) in order to get her to do her bidding before faybelle showed up and did all that withoyt needing so much as a jab about her mother (whose story the evil queen literally upended?). but i digress: without apple's continued help (post mirror break) the evil queen probably wouldn't have gotten as far as she did

An interesting name, definitely not a common one in South Korea. The only Diego you knew was Diego, Dora's cousin. Laughing at the thought, you figured it was a wrong number and replied with:

"Sorry you have the wrong number."

Then turned off your phone for the night.

It was early when you heard the ding coming from your phone. Glancing over you see that it was just your coworker asking if you could cover her early shift.

Groaning, you text back a "No," before rolling back over.

Not long after you hear your ringtone, annoyed and slightly pissed you grab the phone and answer the call,

"Yuna, I keep telling you that I am not going to be covering your shift. I work closing, and I refuse to be there to open for your shift. Unless you have an amazing reason I-"

"Sorry, this isn't Yuna, but she definitely sounds annoying."

Shocked, you check the name and to your surprise it was the mystery Diego.

"Oh, so sorry, I thought you were my coworker. Sorry, who is this?"

"Diego"

"Am I supposed to know who that is?" Annoyed you huff and sit up in bed wondering if this was an old classmate or someone you met a while ago.

"Yeah, I called to apologize."

"Sorry I still have no idea who this is."

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I wasn't there. I shouldn't have left the way I did. Fuck that was dumb, I wish I never left. Ever since I did I imagined you in my arms every night, waiting by the door. I missed your scent, I missed the way you always spoke your mind. Your smile, your hair, and your passion for (insert your guilty pleasure food). I should've gone back. If I could go back I woul-"

"Stop."

Shaking you mute your side of the call. It couldn't be, he left. He left and everyone said he was dead. You mourned the loss, you fell into a depression, you and the entire city of Seoul thought he was dead. How could he be alive?

He is alive? He is ...alive? And he didn't say goodbye. He left. He left you, he left you all alone. This had better be some kind of sick prank because if this truly was your James... why would he have left.  

"Is this a prank?"

"Never. (Y/n) I love you, I always have and always will. Please let me explain, let me make up for all the lost time. I never want to lose you again. Please let me back in, I have so much more love to give you, so much mo-"

James, it's been ten years. I can't believe you. Why the hell would you change your name? Did you actually because that is a dumb as you leaving the way you did. I wish you had stayed dead to my mind, I'd at least get closure. I would be able to still hold you in regard, but now? Now, you are a piece of shit who deserves nothing but pain because you clearly think after breaking my heart you can come crawling back like nothing happened.

You destroyed my world, after promising me you would never leave. You promised I wasn't a week long fling to get bored of, but you left like I was a one night stand whose name was nothing more than another word. You left me with scars that would never heal. I'm lucky I had support, I had friends and family, I had people to keep me from drowning. I was holding onto the debris of the wrecked ship of our love, and you took the lifeboat and left me to drown.

How. Dare. You."

Anger coursed through your veins, tears ran down your cheeks and your hands gripped the blanket with white knuckles.

There was a long pause, the only sound was the breathing from his end.

"I'm sorry, it was a mistake. I never meant to hurt you. Please let me make it up I-"

"James. It's been ten years. I wasn't going to wait for a ghost who I thought was dead. I found someone who actually would never leave me. They helped pick up the pieces you shattered, they were there when you weren't. I have a (s/o title here of your choosing), I can't just stop my life for yours. James, I cared for you and you threw me away like a used cigarette. Used, broken, and discarded. If you cared you would have stayed, you would have gave me some message that you were okay. But you didn't."

"(Y/n) please."

"James- No Diego is it? Don't call again. You left my life once, you can leave again. Don't try to contact me again."

Silently you end the call.

7:20AM. You still half the day before work. Silently you returned under the covers. Crying softly you held the blanket taught. Thinking of all the things you used to do with him, the tears increased.

A soft knocking on the door followed by soft footsteps caused you to look up. Gently they took your face in their hands, wiping your tears.

"Is everything okay? I just got back from my late shift? Wanna talk?"

Silently shaking your head no, your (s/o) climbs into bed behind you gently holding you as you cried yourself to sleep in the comfort of their arms.

After that, you wouldn't hear from him, you wouldn't see him. He left, just like you told him to.

But, he would never truly leave, he would always be there, quietly stalking through the shadows, scaring off thugs and keeping you safe. He would wait, he would wait for you to hear him out. He loved you too much to let you go like that. He wasn't ready to.

"I've missed you." You softly whisper into the phone.

"(Y/n)" he softly replies "Please let me have another chance."

"We're strangers James- Diego. You don't even have the same name anymore. It's been ten years. I'm not the same person I was. I've changed, I've loved and I've lived. It's been ten years."

"I know. I know. We can get to know each other again, we can go on dates, we can start fresh. I'll tell you everything, I won't leave-"

"How can I trust that? You left once, you'll leave again."

"Not this time. This time, the story ends with you and me. We'll live together with our shiny new rings. We'll have kids - only if you want. We'll get those ten cats you always talked about. You can have whatever you want. I'll do whatever it takes to gain your trust. As long as your eyes are on me and you let me stay by your side I don't care."

"James. Can I call you that?"

"You can call me whatever you want."

"Friday at 7. I want to try that new restaurant that opened up. I'll text my address."

"Thank you, thank you. You won't regret it I-"

"Stop. This is just to see how much you've changed. This is not a guarantee."

"Thank you."

Honestly, I think if Rain Mikamura's issues were explored more rather than sanded down by both the show and fandom when they aren't convenient for a joke, she might have had a chance at being one of my all-time favorite characters.

I've alluded to the idea that bringing her jealousy issues to the forefront would thematically strengthen the back end of the show, and tackling her communication problems on the same level as Domon's would have made them work much better as a pairing.

(they have polar opposite issues where Domon needs to be told "hey, people would like to know this, so say it," while Rain expects people to read her mind) (I'd still ship her with Schwarz though tbh)

Also, she owns multiple guns and threw a wrench at Domon's head at one point. This woman is violent and repressing it.

FInally, there's the fact that Rain seems to think that she can, and is expected to, control the behavior of other people. Her meltdown over her father's actions where she concludes that she is equally responsible kind of suggests this, and she spends a lot of time trying to control Domon's behavior even when he's not doing something reckless. I would have really liked if the final arc had some kind of element of the inherent horror in taking that to it's logical conclusion, since we know the DG can literally control people.

I really think my biggest gripe about her is that most people follow the writers in pretending that the flaws they gave her don't exist, and without them, Rain is kind of a boring, can-do-no-wrong type that I really cannot stand, so as a result I can go between really liking her and avoiding the hell out of her.

Restraining myself from saying the obvious with baroryuu so instead I'll say: Ryuu and susatos' friendship. NOT the weird thing aa fans like to do with girl characters and make everyone a little sister tho like the genuine friendship and work relationship they have. Dgs is probably the only game in the series where I feel like the perfected the assistant/defense dynamic. She's so extremely helpful and solid pillar for ryunosuke to hang on to during the trials but she also Doesn't do his job. She'd so good at handling professional interactions while ryu is busy being sweaty too.

They're also so silly together

For the hot takes game: Yuujin Mikotoba is THE MOST important character in DGS. He is the reason everything happens, and why Stronghart loses.

He delivers Iris and gives her to Sholmes. He took in Kazuma after he became an orphan. He tells Naruhodou to speak up during his own trial, causing the inciting incident for the entire story. He helps advocate for Kazuma to go to Britian. He helps Susato win her case, which helps her decide to return to Britian. He deduces what ship Jigoku is on (at least in the fan translation) and he helps catch Jigoku. He witnessed the fake evidence being planted in Klint's body, which is how they prove the evidence was fake at all.

And of course, Sholmes started doing detective work when he was NINETEEN. He definitely would've gotten himself killed at some point in those six years if not for his partner.

I have neutral here because I admittedly do not have too much of an opinion. To be honest, I had a harder time connecting to the story, setting, and characters of DGS compared to the rest of the series, so I do not have many strong opinions due to that (which is probably a hot take on its own).

However, I like Yujin and can agree he's very important to the story and several of the characters. So I can believe the argument that he's the most important person in DGS (especially with the examples laid out in your ask). But since I don't have too much of an opinion on my own, I decided to keep it neutral here.

Huh, it's not the greeting he was looking forward to. He half expected you to jump on him as soon as he stepped through the door.

The two of you have been ships passing over the last couple weeks. So sue him, he wanted a little fanfare for tonight - the first evening in after a whirlwind schedule.

He tries again, "Y/N?"

"In here!" Your voice rings out from somewhere on the far side of the apartment.

He finds you in the bedroom and observes you from the doorway with a gentle smile. The first crack in his cold and aloof demeanour, turning the DG persona off.

Your eyes are glued to the laptop screen, half eaten bowl of popcorn sitting in your lap, every now and then cackling at whatever you're watching.

"You ok?"

You don't even look at him, continuing to chuckle at your show, "Yep!"

"You missed me?"

"Mmhmm-"

DG rolls his eyes fondly at you, "My week has been good, thanks for asking."

"Good!"

"..."

"..."

"..."

"..."

Honestly. He lets out a small snort. "I love you."

"Love you too!"

"..."

"... Wait what?!"

Now he has your full attention. You turn to him, eyes widening at the first time he said those three words to you.

"Nothing." he shrugs, mischief painted all ovrer his face and turns to leave.

"Hold on!" he hears the thud of you leaping off the bed and the distinct sound of the bowl and its contents clattering to the floor, "Come back!"

What do you think about asoryuu?

Oh boy, this one's going to be a bit loaded, so here's a bit of a preemptive apology for a ramble/word vomit/rant on my end. Suffice to say ASRY is a NoTP for me. When I was first getting into DGS all the way back in 2019/20, I was a bit ambivalent towards the ship. I had only watched a playthrough of the first game, and I had the feeling that Kazuma was going to come back, but the ship didn't really scream to me at that point, and it kind of befuddled me to see how it was so popular (and a bit of a tangent, I think people only really ship the 1-1 dynamic, but that's a convo for another day). If you even look at the header of my blog, it is no secret that I ship Ryuususa, and it is my OTP. When I had watched the fifth case on the playthrough, I was sold on that ship, and the last moments really sealed the deal for me-- there's something really compelling about the goodbye scene between Susato and Ryuunosuke at the docks, and the localization legitimately made me cry (happy tears of course!) Being a little naive, I started to post about it and I got... a LOT of harassment calling me a lot of names/accusing me of being okay with a lot of really horrible things (intrusive thoughts WHOOOOOOP). The harassment was so bad that I only recently opened up to my therapist about what had happened, and I was pulling away from servers/people I thought I was friends with/wouldn't treat me horribly. I found a lot of solace with people who were also violently harassed pre-localization (shout out to the Baroryuu community, you all were really kind to me, and I am proud to also be a Baroryuu lover <3), when I say it was drama filled pre localization, I mean it. I can even point out when my harassment started to March of 2021 when someone on twitter said not to read my dgs fics since I was a proshipper (I hadn't even called myself that at this point, and honestly I don't really use that title [idk how else to describe it lol], but I do follow that philosophy and call myself anti-harassment), and since I hadn't had a twt at that time, they linked to my ao3, and since I put my tumblr on my fics, I got a LOT of disturbing anons. Even when I made my server, I used to have a link that anyone could click on (word of the day is naive lmaooo), and I got a lot of creeps coming in trying to surveil the server and make sure their friends weren't in it (one person was even trying to get access to the nsfw section which was FUN). After reading this, you're probably thinking "what does this have to do with ASRY?". A lot of the major bullies in fandom HEAVILY shipped ASRY, and would harass people who shipped other ships (Baroryuu and Asobaro shippers were racist, Homuryuu shippers were okay with incest because of that stupid "greatest family in the world" line, etc.). All in all, it came with a lot of entitlement and anger that other peopled DARED not to ship that ship. Those sorts of people really tainted the ship for me. As for the ship itself, I can definitely see why people love it a lot (especially 1-1), but I really didn't like Kazuma in 2-4/5. I found him to be really particularly awful and obtuse (which, makes perfect sense in the story! Who wouldn't be in his position?). I was also mad that he only said ONE (1!!!) thing to Susato when he got his memories back (despite HER recognizing him and getting the ball rolling), and it was basically "Thanks for helping out my friend, bye!" (#justiceforsusato lol). Even at the end of the game, I still was mad at Kazuma and didn't really like him. It's only due to my friends (namely @leafyemeralds and her VERY GOOD TAKES in our convos) that I eventually started to warm up to him. Now he's my personal punching bag to Atone(tm) XD I suppose TL;DR I'm not a big Kazuma fan, harassment made me really dislike the ship, so I don't ship it (also, can ASRY shippers tag their stuff? this is more of a problem on twitter, but it happens on tumblr. Filters can only work if they're there =3=)

Hello everyone! I wanted to share my accomplishments in 2023 before the year ends with a little bit of self reflection notes. You can enjoy everything in the read below.

Some fandoms highlighted include DGS, nintendo, and pokemon.

First off, this year has been hard for me. It's been a lot of self reflection and figuring my goals out after some became unattainable.

With that being said, I did accomplish a lot this year. I published my first recipe in a zine, finishing my first zine, improved my writing a lot, and picked up drawing once again. I also was able to get some actual help with some issues I have struggled with for years.

I want thank you all for your support. It means a lot that you enjoyed my artworks, writing, and ambition. Now here are my highlights for each month.

January: Foxtrot - An Asoryuu kitsune AU. One of the stories I took in when I was at my lowest last year and sparked a lot of my interest to keep writing. Plus Kitsune Kazuma.

February: Encore - A hassius story about motivation and being patient about the creation process. Though this was more or less my thoughts on this topic in general, this story literally inspired me to take my own advice and pick up drawing again.

March: The Memories that Lie - This was one I actually finished, but am glad I did. It's an asoryuu vampire story I was actually planning on scrapping, but ended up finishing anyway out of sheer stubbornness. To finish it, it took me completely restarting five chapters, but it came out a lot better than the original draft had mapped out.

April: This is when I took my hiatus and started to draw again in my free time. I was worn out, stressed, and collapsing under the pressure. This was my first piece that I posted.

May: Was a huge month for me. I launched the @blossominglovezine that you can enjoy here and published my first recipe in The Grand Adventure to Make the Perfect Cake for the @tgaacspringzine

June: I made my first icon! I was really busy this month planning for the trip of my dreams and doing some irl side work that ended up being permanent employment.

July: So I went to Las Vegas for a foodie tour. When I had a moment, I decided to draw the lovely Unicorn Goddess outfit.

August: This is when I did the Timmverse art study. This month was more of finishing up some logistics of zine work and getting a story out in the wild.

September: Goes to the Princess Peach Showtime piece I did! This piece really cemented my current style. And yes, I keep calling it Princess Peach Spotlight. Also wanted to mention I helped successfully launch the @dgscrimezine

October: Goes to my OC piece. CW for blood, but this piece was made for Halloween and the shading was really on point. I love this design for this OC.

November: I'm going with the fact I completed a ship week, asoryuu week. I got everything done at a reasonable time and was able to create so many fun pieces. 1 2 3 4 5 7. I had to skip day 6 because I ended up having an emergency. I also started pre-orders for my first for purchase zine, @desire-asoryuu-zine. This is still in pre-orders, so I wasn't sure if I was going to add it, but this is a big accomplishment for me.

December: I actually haven't been able to do much this month due to the holidays and getting distracted by Pokemon DLC, but I did draw this super cute Yuma!

Other highlights do include being accepted to multiple zine projects as a mod and contributor, which has been very exciting for me. You can check out that list here.

This upcoming year, I'll be helping with more projects and the @aawlwminibang events! I really want to do a personal project that I've been building up my skills for before pursuing, but now I think I'll be able to handle it. I won't announce it yet since it's still very much in development, but I hope I can in 2024.
