homework isn’t exactly lev’s forte. of course, he’s used to it & whatever & whatever — but even in a previous life ( before he joined nekoma ), he heard threats that maybe he’d get signed up for some sort of extra tutoring, extra prep, extra —

the threats aren’t entirely empty . . . but they aren’t exactly full either. lev wouldn’t do well in that sort of environment. people know this. 

lev likes to take things in his own direction, at his own pace. lev likes there to be loops & dips in the process of learning — & that’s how he thrives.

. . . which is all to say how lev justifies ( cheerfully ) spending his allotted homework time laying on his floor & setting a volleyball into the air over & over again.

sometimes he tries to time his sets with a russian song his sister had recommended. success doesn’t usually last long . . . & the ball comes dangerously close to knocking over his desk lamp.

somehow? the ball lands upon the front of his foot instead.

inspired, lev tries to use his feet to set. homework can wait till the morning. he’s never had much of a problem waking up alongside the sun.

the ball mournfully ricochets off his feet against the doorknob & hurdles into his pillow.

lev still lays splayed on the ground & stares at the ball, willing it to inch towards him.

the ball does not budge.

fortunately, however, his phone is within arm’s reach. & thus opportunity encourages lev to text fast & impulsively —

the more texts he sends to the more people ? the more likely it is that he’ll get a response !

that’s what math says!

& with this logic, kageyama will be awarded the texts of the decade :
