Kedoura Inlet: A Scenic Escape in Chiba

The Kedoura Inlet on the western shore of Chiba Prefecture offers a stunning view of the Pacific Ocean, framed by eroded rock formations that reveal a glimpse into the geological history of Myojin Cape. This picturesque area is part of the Minami-Boso Quasi-National Park, which features numerous coves and cliffs that reach the water’s edge, their tops lush with trees, grass, and shrubbery.
Hiking trails extend for several kilometers throughout the park, leading to several scenic spots, including this small inlet. The trails offer a chance to explore the natural beauty and tranquility of the area, making it a perfect destination for nature enthusiasts and hikers.

Took the Dracs out for a pair of games today and ngl this list is a fucking blast to pilot. We were playing our classic battletech league format (10.5k list, 7k deployment, built off the MUL faction list).

Game 1 was into a frequent foe, by friend's Jade Falcons. We ended up playing king of the hill (most tonnage in the center of the map wins a point each turn, 4 points to win), which was a mission that aggressively favored my higher tonnage force and would've required him to keep me from slogging my Thug onto the point. He took an early lead before my fast scouts arrived and then the Dragon followed by the Thug just overwhelmed the frankly i sane ammount of kill power his list brought to the table. The best tactic he had at that point was to repeatedly charge and DFA my heavy and assault to keep them out of the center, but once his 4/2 baboon its gyro ripped appart by a lucky pair of crits he gave up the ghost.
Game 2 was a longer and grindier affair against the Taurian Concordat that was just a straight kill match. I fell behind early as my long range battery took longer to establish its presence than my opponent's and he got an early lucky TAC that jammed my Dragon's hip actuator and more or less took it out of the game. However, he made a crucial mistake in ignoring my Spider, which managed to creep up the side of the field before boosting across to flank his Banshee and throw it down a hill before zipping around and charging his Trebuchet off the same mountain. In the confusion my Thug and Catapult began to seriously maul his forces, taking out the Trebby and Centurion as his Thunderbolt slipped away to put down my Dragon. Eventually the Banshee got pinged in the head and the pilot fell unconscious, and we called it.

About Target Revenue: In 2021, Target reported total revenue of $106 billion, up 15% from 2020. Growth: Over the past 5 years, Target's revenues have grown at a compound annual rate of over 5%. Profits: Target's net earnings for 2021 were $6 billion, representing a profit margin of around 5.7%. Their operating income was $9.3 billion. Customers: Target has over 100 million customers per year shop in their stores and online. On average, customers visited Target stores close to 24 times per year. Stores: Target operates 1,924 stores across the United States. They have plans to open 30-40 new small format stores per year. Ecommerce: Digital sales account for nearly 20% of Target's revenues. Their e-commerce growth was over 50% in 2020. Market Share: Target has around 3.7% market share in the US retail sector. In discount retail, they have over 20% share behind only Walmart. So in summary, Target is a retail giant with over $100 billion in annual revenue, 100 million customers, and growing ecommerce and in-store sales. Another plus point is the usage of a variety of creative assets. Specifically, in each ad set, a different image is used. Message-Creative matched: The message for each creative is matched. For example, the benefit of "promoting oral health white tackling bad breath, tartar & plaque" matches with the message in the creative "upgrade your oral health routine". Room for improvements: Do you notice the theme in the 2 ad sets? If you said "feature/benefit", you would get a gold star ⭐️ With $1.5B in advertising budget, I would expect ads for Target would go beyond the boring "feature/benefit" because everyone can do it and the information of feature/benefit is widely available. Target Lisa Roath Chief Marketing Officer would probably expect to see more depth in ads for high-margin products like Listerine. The lack of ad ideas besides just pure "feature/benefit" concerns me because of the increased competition from others such as Target, Whole Foods, Costco, etc. The boring "feature/benefit" ad will soon hit the following limitations: Lack of A/B Testing Limited Insights: With only one ad, you won't be able to perform A/B tests, which are essential for determining what aspects of the ad are working and what aren't. Targeting Limitations Missed Opportunities for Segmentation: Different ad sets can target different customer segments. A single ad may not be as effective across all segments, missing out on some potentially lucrative opportunities. Reduced Personalization: Multiple ad sets allow you to customize messages based on user behavior, geography, or other demographics. A single ad will be less personalized and potentially less effective (more on this below when I do an ad makeover) Creativity and Message Fatigue Ad Fatigue: Over time, the same ad is likely to become less effective as users get tired of seeing it. Multiple ad sets can help mitigate this effect. Limited Creative Testing: Having multiple ads allows for testing different creative elements like headlines, images, and call-to-actions. A single ad limits this flexibility. Risk Management Higher Risk: If your one ad doesn't perform well, you don't have other ad sets to fall back on. This all-or-nothing approach can be riskier. Budget Allocation: With multiple ad sets, you can allocate more budget to higher-performing ads. A single ad does not offer this flexibility. Optimization Challenges Limited Learning: If your single ad isn't performing well, it's harder to pinpoint what exactly is going wrong. Multiple ad sets can provide you with more data, making it easier to optimize. Inability to Leverage Platform Algorithms: Many advertising platforms use machine learning algorithms to automatically allocate budget to the best-performing ads in a campaign. With just one ad, you can't take advantage of this feature. Data and Analytics Limited Data for Analytics: Having only one ad will provide you less data, reducing the reliability and validity of your performance metrics. Attention: If you had multiple product lines and currently ran paid ads, there's a 97% chance that you had less than 3 ads based on my experiences of remodeling ads from Lexus, Chanel, Chase Bank, Amazon, Starbucks, Nike, Target, Home Depot, and Nature Made. Maybe you are perfectly okay with one control ad and burn your ad budget without ROI. But if you would like to have a second-opinion ads critique so that you can see the gaps and areas where you can extract MORE juice out of your ads, click on the link below to have me critique your ads. Gaps Analysis The Landing Page (see link ) Audience avatar: Based on the landing page, I can draw some conclusions about the target audience: Daily Oral Care Routine: The mention of "Swish,

Variety Seekers: The mention of "Explore formulas for every need" and "Fun flavors in alcohol-free formulas" indicates that the target audience might be looking for variety in their oral care products, both in terms of flavor and benefits. Health-Conscious: The emphasis on "Zero Alcohol" suggests that the target customer is health-conscious and prefers products without alcohol, possibly due to concerns about its effects or personal preferences. On-the-Go Lifestyle: The mention of "On the Go" indicates that the target audience leads a busy lifestyle and values products that can be used on the move, ensuring fresh breath throughout the day. Family-Oriented: The specific mention of products "Specially formulated for the little ones" suggests that Listerine is targeting families, especially parents who are concerned about their children's oral hygiene. A Coastal Canvas: Feeling the Passage of Time at Soleil Hill Beach・「ソレイユの丘砂浜で時を感じる」
My visit to Nagai Seaside Park Soleil Hill (長井海の手公園ソレイユの丘) in Yokosuka, Japan, with my border collie was originally planned around photographing fields of flowers and scenic coastal views.
However, the intense summer heat had taken its toll, wilting nearly all the flowers in bloom. I set aside the idea of photographing the park’s interior and opted for Soleil Hill Beach—a secluded, dark-sand beach accessible only to park visitors.
One rock formation in particular caught my eye, part of the rugged coastline that defines much of the Miura Peninsula, south of Yokohama and Tokyo.
The layers in these formations angle at an estimated 30 degrees, a reminder of the earthquakes and tectonic tilting that shaped this landscape. Over time, the natural striations in the rock have been softened by weather and waves, revealing a fascinating story of geological transformation.
Occasionally, when the sun peeked through the clouds, the water revealed dark hues of green and blue, adding depth and contrast to the scene against the otherwise muted, overcast sky.
It’s this interplay of colors and textures—the layers of rock, the subdued tones of the sea, and the hints of ancient history—that made this spot feel somewhat special.

I recall learning in my IM rotation last year that neurosyphilis can occur in any stage of syphilis, not just tertiary syphilis. So tertiary syphilis shouldn't be discussed as if it's just neurosyphilis. I never read that article. I have to find it and read it. Also, the way we test for syphilis is different now. It used to be that you do a non-treponemal test like RPR and then if that's positive, you do a treponemal test (FTA-ABS). Approach Considerations

Approach Considerations
T pallidum cannot be cultivated in vitro and is too small to be seen under the light microscope. Serologic testing is considered the standard method of detection for all stages of syphilis. (Note, however, that serologic tests cannot be used to differentiate the different species of the treponeme family—for example, yaws.)
In suspected acquired syphilis, the traditional approach has been to first perform nontreponemal serology screening using the Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL), rapid plasma reagin (RPR), or the recently developed ICE Syphilis recombinant antigen test.
Sensitivity of the VDRL and RPR tests are estimated to be 78-86% for detecting primary syphilis, 100% for detecting secondary syphilis, and 95-98% for detecting tertiary syphilis. Specificity ranges from 85-99% and may be reduced in individuals who have coexisting conditions (ie, collagen vascular disease, pregnancy, intravenous drug use, advanced malignancy, tuberculosis, malaria, viral and rickettsial diseases). [18]
VDRL test results turn positive 1-2 weeks after chancre formation. Nontreponemal tests usually become nonreactive with time after treatment. Serology values in patients with HIV infection may take longer to fall than in patients without HIV infection. In some patients, nontreponemal antibodies can persist, sometimes for life, a conditioned referred to as ”serofast.” [19]
Because of the possibility of false-positive results, confirmation for any positive or equivocal nontreponemal test result should follow with a treponemal test, such as the fluorescent treponemal antibody-absorption (FTA-ABS), microhemagglutination assay T pallidum (MHA-TP), T pallidum hemagglutination (TPHA), and T pallidum particle agglutination (TPPA) tests. [20, 21] Treponemal enzyme immunoassay (EIA) for immunoglobulin G (IgG) and immunoglobulin M (IgM) may be performed.
FTA-ABS is commonly used as a confirmatory test following positive VDRL or RPR test findings. FTA-ABS has a sensitivity of 84% for detecting primary syphilis infection and almost 100% sensitivity for detecting syphilis infection in other stages. Its specificity is 96%. [18]
Some labs have adopted reverse sequence screening in order to reduce time, labor, and costs. Reverse screening test sera first by automatable treponemal enzyme and chemiluminescence immunoassays (EIA/CIA), followed by testing of reactive sera with a nontreponemal test. Results of the first direct comparison of traditional and reverse screening suggest reverse screening may not be as inferior to traditional testing as previously thought. Six out of 1000 patients tested were falsely reactive by reverse screening, compared to none by traditional testing. However, reverse screening identified 2 patients with possible latent syphilis that were not detected by RPR. [22] The CDC recommends traditional testing, but if reverse screening is used all sera that produce reactive EIA/CIA results should be reflexively tested with a quantitative nontreponemal test. Sera with discordant results should be reflexively tested with a confirmatory TPPA test. If the result is positive, the patient should be offered treatment if no treatment history can be elucidated.
Darkfield microscopy is a possible mode of evaluating moist cutaneous lesions, such as the chancre of primary syphilis or the condyloma lata of secondary syphilis. If darkfield microscopy is not available, direct immunofluorescence staining of fixed smears (direct fluorescent antibody T pallidum [DFA-TP]) is an option. Both procedures detect the causative organism at a rate of approximately 85-92%.
Slit-lamp examination and ophthalmic assessment can be used to differentiate between acquired and congenital syphilis (presence of interstitial keratitis) in patients with latent infection of uncertain duration.
Diagnosis of neurosyphilis can be challenging. The VDRL test for CSF (VDRL-CSF) is highly specific but has low sensitivity. Therefore, the diagnosis of neurosyphilis usually depends on a combination of CSF cell count, CSF protein, and clinical manifestations with or without a reactive VDRL-CSF. Some specialists recommend performing an FTA-ABS test on CSF. The CSF FTA-ABS is less specific for neurosyphilis than the VDRL-CSF, but it is highly sensitive. A negative CSF FTA-ABS test result effectively rules out neurosyphilis. [23]
Patients with confirmed syphilis infections should be tested for other STDs, including HIV infection. If the HIV test is negative, the patient should be retested for HIV in 3 months except in areas with low HIV prevalence. [19]

Check out the e/book here! : www.blacklibrary.com/warhammer… Illustration © Games Workshop Art director/producer: Karen Miksza ++++++++++++++++++++++ The brief for this one was a three-way melee between Kor'sarro Khan of the White Scars, Tau Commander Shadowsun, and Captain Kayvaan Shrike of the Raven Guard, amidst a mixed-force battle of White Scars, Raven Guard, and Cadian IG versus the Tau fighting atop a rocky promontory with jungle. The main focus of the show is Shadowsun, whom according to the reference and specs sent to me, often fields two shield drones. I thought that could be a perfect excuse to not end up in an awkward “2 on 1” prong attack. So that resulted in our assault marine captain Shrike pulling off a DFA and Kor'sarro timing a strike to take out her shield on one side. Given the hardback template/format I decided early on to have two back to back crisis suits behind the main trinary to visually frame the action and hopefully some narrative link to what was going on in the background. While sketching in comp ideas I was thinking of World in Conflict FMVs (yeah I watched a compilation vid of the different sequences but set to just Audioslave’s Shadow on the Sun… how apt for our Tau commander ) which inspired that jungle crossfire for the back cover (left of image), along with some physics logic I thought should be observed such as “if plasma based weaponry gets spammed in the general direction of a forest, there should be a moderate to high chance of a forest fire occurring” which kinda explains why we see the charred dirt and branches and hints of trees on fire in the back. Other favourite points of interest that I recall from half a year back: -Singed/scorched Imperial armour versus cracked/gouged tau armour -Drones buzzing a tree (near the sun) -Devastator Raven going head on with the battlesuit turned away from us, armour in the process of being seared off chunk by chunk. -White Scar reading poetry on the lawn in an admirable last stand -Unfortunate IG, now literally half the man he used to be. This piece is, in my own way, dedicated to two very unique creatives whose achievements and trust in me have both inspired and helped me take my work to higher levels. Ghislain Barbe(
NOT because he is coincidentally now the art director on Eternal Crusade at BHVR  
, but because when I was a kid I played a PC game called Heavy Gear by Dream Pod 9/Activision, and along with it came a printed game manual with wonderful mecha illustrations and diagrams that blew my little mind, and he was the illustrator of my favourite designs in the book.), and Peter Cooper(an incredibly kind and talented writer/director who years ago offered me the opportunity to do the illustrated set pieces for his HALO fan-film, Operation Chastity). Moreso because I think they might appreciate certain aspects of this image in their own capacities, like the pew pew lazars. Ok really its just about the lazars and the airburst munitions.
And my special thanks and apologies to my truly professional and patient producer, Karen Miksza, for enduring and evaluating a chickenscratch-sketch of mine that resembled more of a Rorschach exercise than anything. You rock!
As for the artwork:
Reading the brief, and visualising the narrative and technical approach, made me want to crawl under a rock somewhere and just go into a coma. But it dawned on me it was really about huge battlesuits and powered armour on bikes in a desert--the very stuff my favourite SF childhood memories were made of. So I put on some Bubblegum Crisis tracks to remind me of what I felt was special about the genre and what I would like to see happen again, and got back to work. "Say Yes!" by Maiko Hashimoto in particular, really helped bring back those memories.
Bearing in mind this is meant to be a triple-fold/paneled illustration; I was to illustrate a White Scars Stormseer fighting a Crisis Battlesuit with a tulwar on the front cover(rightmost third of image), looming Riptide in center third, and miscellaneous combatants filling up the remainder. The White Scars were to seem joyous in the midst of their hunt, armed with lances or tulwars in addition to the bolters on their bikes. All this was to take place on a dusty plain. I immediately thought that a scene showing a breached frontline would work best, to help put across just how fast moving and aggressive the White Scars are known to be, and for all the long distance planning of the Tau once up close and personal with Space Marines on bikes, it can quickly descend into unmanageable chaos. Troops having to divert their attention from the front to acquire stray bikers without hitting their friends, and crisis suits engaging their thrusters to quickly manoeuver along the ranks and train their guns on the bikes. Crisis suits... in a crisis of their own... aha..haha..h-
As a Chinese guy, I felt it got really hilarious at one point painting Fu Manchu 'roid mongols in sun-bleached white armour going to town on the Tau. So I just rode that wave as best I could  Having my own front row seat and getting into the mentality of what it means to create a 40K flavoured illustration is making me more and more of a fan of what I think the franchise represents on different levels. When I say I find 40K really insane, I mean it in a sincerely optimistic way, and I think I am finally getting better at understanding where that balance point between grimdark outlook, cautionary tale/social commentary, and outlandish spectacle sits.
This reflection of what 40K meant to me, had me throwing out the idea that maybe in order for the Stormseer to even be in close combat with a Battlesuit twice his height, required he be presented in a way that could rival the nuttiness of the idea to begin with. So imagining a narrative, I assume these guys could have force-lances that they could also throw, using that as a medium range large-caliber stopping weapon (illustrated at bottom right) and then move into closer combat with their shorter range tulwars. (This of course sets up the visual excuse for the flapping blood-soaked hair plume on the end of the lance up front.) The stormseer would realise that his bolters might be ineffectual at getting him within close enough range so he would opt to just pop a wheelie off the frontline Tau and use the bolter riddled chassis of the crisis suit as a landing ramp and shield to buy him precious seconds to plan his next move. They're Space Marines. Seemed legit. "SAY YES!"
Other favourite details:
-Please excuse the slightly overdone prismatic effect on the Riptide's shield. I still think it looks nice and it makes some sense. Just riffing off similar idea in the previous Tau codex supplement. I also wanted to illustrate how the hexa-projection areas might be linked to individual projection nodes, and we would see how individual 'tiles' pulse under stress as opposed to having a continuous 'texture pattern'.
-I keep reading in the fluff how much advanced targetting tech the Tau pack, technically a Fire warrior would have onboard sensors and targetting aids, that eventually gets meshed with higher level networked data from sensor drones, add on to that markerlight data and more... basically it just sounds like a Tau shooter could be drunk, falling over, and still hit a fly in between its eyes having accounted for atmospheric disruption from 600 meters away. So that I felt gave me the right to imply that they can shoot incoming rounds out of the sky. Which we can see to great effect in the background and right behind the Stormseer. There of course is the consideration for fans who think its unreasonable, so they also look like they could be randomly hit because the relatively slow moving missiles are travelling through a firestorm of plasma. But I just wanted to say what the original intent was  Also to the left is a inverted Phalanx-CIWS looking burst cannon drone that seems to be in charge of clearing the skies for ground troops (when I saw that design I almost stood up and clapped at the screen). And for those of you who absolutely do not buy any of that, there's this:

-Poor Tau loses his head in the background-The bikes were initially block-modelled in Sketchup to help me give a sense of their geometry and what I could do with them.This took over a week to do, the longest I've spent on any of the illustrations to date and burnt a weekend or so (gladly so) getting it done. I hope it makes the Tau and White Scars fans amongst you happy and rooting for your favourites and for mech heads in general
