The lovely @chroniclesinlacuna let me borrow the amazing detective Dex DiBella 😍 and i wrote a little something for him and Nate!
Prompt: “Your hair keeps falling into your eyes, do you know that?” from this prompt list Pairing: Nate x m!detective (Dex DiBella) Rating: G Summary: after a long day at work, the detective finds a little surprise in his home
It was one of those days, that everything you did turned the opposite of what you wanted and you just wished the day to finally end. You just want to go home, grab something to eat, and go to sleep. And maybe cuddle up with your tall vampire boyfriend, if you were lucky.
Oh, and Dex was, he was really damn lucky.
As soon as he set foot inside the building, he was greeted by the smell of home cooking meal and pleasantly surprised by the aroma actually coming off of his apartment. Was Nate… cooking?
The warmth of his home welcomed him lovingly like the gentle embrace of a lover, and Dex’s tension melted away at the sign of him, working comfortably in Dex kitchen, brown hair tied in a messy bun exposing the nape of his neck invitingly.
Nate heard him, of course he did, but there was a certain playfulness in letting Dex sneak up on him to wrap his arms around his waist, to bury his face into the warm crook of his neck, drowning in the sweet, intoxicant scent of Nate’s cologne.
Nate chuckled, the sound rumbling against Dex’s chest, and Dex was tempted to just stay in there forever basking in his warmth, and in the pure sense of love radiating from him. He could if Nate let him.
“Hello, my dear. How was your day?” Nate’s long fingers enclosed his, and Dex grumbled against his skin in response. He left a little kiss there afterward, not wanting the stink of an awful day to break this precious moment between them. “Better if I don’t ask, right?”
“Unless you want to hear about mx Henking ugly cat or miss Cranston cheating husband, then no.”
“If you want to talk about it, I’d happily listen to it, but I can always tell you about my day, instead?”
Dex hummed approvingly, unable to leave his side, not yet anyway. He moved his face from side to side, caressing Nate’s skin with the tip of his nose, his partner shivering with delight.
“We work in our garden today. Felix was really excited since the tomato plant started giving its first fruit. You know he doesn’t have the patience for taking care of vegetables, but he was happy nonetheless.”
Dex could hear the smile clear on Nate’s voice, his calm tone drawing him in, even more. His body almost melted against him as the last remaining tension vanished away from his shoulders.
“I’ll cook you a meal with our vegetables in no time.” Dex laughed at the tender promise watching Nate chopping onions with dexterous fingers.
“The only time I’d eat anything green is if you cook it for me.” Dex was rewarded with a musical laugh and then, a kiss on his cheek, after Nate turned around a little in his arms, the dark chocolate of his eyes shining blissfully, a lone strand of hair curling on his temple.
“My offer to teach you how to cook still stands, you know.”
“Are you sure you want to risk me burning the kitchen again?” Nate hummed leaving another kiss on Dex’s jaw before returning to his task.
“I hate to ask this, my love, but you will have to let me go before your kitchen gets burned too.”
That got a surprise laugh off of Dex. He gave Nate’s waist a gentle squeeze before letting him go, mumbling an amused ‘sorry’.
Dex found his way to the kitchen island, a careful place vase on top with freshly cut roses waiting for him. He reached out to them, the velvet petals tender below his fingers. He took the time to observe Nate, head resting on his open palm and elbow on the counter, admiring how Nate moved with practical ease and confidence in his environment, how comfortable he looked in Dex’s apartment. Like it was his. Theirs.
It was, in a way. Nate spent as much time there as Dex in the warehouse and seeing him so at ease in his home, made his poor heart thump a little harder against his ribcage.
“Well, it did help us know the fire alarm works just fine if nothing else.”
It had been a disaster. Dex thought it would be a good idea to prepare breakfast for him and Nate that morning in the warehouse, Felix helped. The slices of fruit were easy, nothing to cook there but then the eggs, Dex forgot them and almost burned the whole thing. Nate’s precious cooking pan ruined by sticky burnt eggs.
Dex shrugged, unable to hide his smile and, at that point, he wasn’t even trying to, “I can always stick to the salad.”
Nate laughed charmingly, with a sort of playfulness twinkling in his eyes, Dex was weak for that sort of look. Soon, his playful eyes were looking down at the vegetables in the pan, the rebellious strands of hair slipping away from his bun to frame his temple in a way that had Dex fingers twitching with urgency. The urgency to reach out to caress his beautiful face and kiss the tip of his nose, to thank him for his company, for making his life a bit brighter, sweeter.
A long lock escaped its confinement just as Nate was making his way to the kitchen counter, vegetables deliciously cooked ready in hand, and Dex couldn’t resist it anymore. He went over there, the counter between them but that didn’t stop him from reaching out Nate’s face, calloused fingers making contact with silk-soft hair, Nate’s warm brown eyes finding his in a smile.
“Your hair keeps falling into your eyes, do you know that?” Dex’s voice was as soft as his fingers tracing the lobe of Nate’s ear after carefully placing the loose hair behind it. His partner sighed contentedly leaning into the touch like his caress was the most precious of things. It was for Dex. Nate was.
And in the warmth of his home and the delicious meal cooked with nothing but love and affection, Dex knew he was really damn lucky.
#i had a lot of fun writing them!#dex is a great character i love him <33#twc#The Wayhaven Chronicles#nate#nate x detective#n sewell#wayhaven detective#twc detective#fic#my writing

What do you think Sophie's friends and herself are going to dress as for Halloween?
I'm answering this a little after Halloween but let's pretend that it's still spooky season just for the sake of this ask!
I was talking a little earlier about Linh dressing up as Fintan to make fun of him, but I have plenty of ideas for other costumes!
Linh: Seeing as I was just talking about her it seems fitting to kick things off with her. Pumpkin. I do not know why but she goes as a pumpkin. Not the form fitting ones but the flowy like...cape? Thing? And a hat with a little stem!! And she'd have the pumpkin trick-or-treat baskets to go with it.
Keefe and Dex: They go together as elves. But the human version of elves. They've got the pointed ears and all the foliage all over them. Shoes with little curls at the end--I can't help but feel like Keefe goes hobbit-elf. Like he specifically dresses up like an elf from The Lord of the Rings because he loves it. And Dex does it too because he's seen so many human movies. It just feels right!
Biana: Fairy. She does the stereotypical thing where she puts on a corset and fishnets and calls herself a fairy but for some reason it really works for her and she stands out. Dex helps her make these incredibly detailed wings that actually move (unfortunately they cannot fly and are purely for aesthetics). Unsure what specific genre of fairy she would be though!
Sophie: I think she'd cosplay as a character from a book she enjoyed when she was younger. She's read The Lord of the Rings, so maybe she'd dress up as Frodo, which would also motivate Keefe and Dex to match her. I don't know what character she would be, but I think she'd go back to her human roots and pick a fictional character!
Fitz: oh this one's hard. For some reason my mind is saying a gladiator but I don't know why. Maybe the chance to show off his physique or something. Maybe the strength that's associated with them. Maybe he just likes to take his clothes off. Who knows! I am also open to any other suggestions because I'm very unsure about Fitz.
Tam: I can't decide if he'd refuse to participate or go all out just to spite Keefe. If he refuses, then I think Linh would dress him up like a cat and give him the ears and draw on whiskers for a really simple costume. If he does it himself and goes all out...I'm feeling vampire/general undead vibes. Really leaning into the aesthetic and picking something he can use his ability to enhance. Maybe like a Dark Lord and wearing royal regalia and a crown and all that.
Marella: Pirate! Boisterous, social personality that's actually deeply involved in politics feels great for her! And then there's the strength and cunning associated with them. Pirates know so much of what's going on and are really team people. Also maybe I want to see her in a pirate's outfit. The quiet intelligence of pirates...so good. Also I'm basing all of this on Black Sails, not the more common idea of pirates.
These are just a few of my personal ideas, but they could be anything! I think Sandor should also bring back that grandma costume from the earlier books. They suited him so well <33
And I think they'd all enjoy the chance to partake in a human holiday as Sophie reminisced about her past, which is a cute way to support her.
#maybe tam could be a witch#I can imagine so many possibilities for him#but Fitz really stumped me#so if anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them!#gladiator doesn't feel right but I couldn't think of anything else that was even remotely better#kotlc#keeper of the lost cities#kotlc headcanon#kotlc halloween#quil's queries#bluecookiesarebetter#kotlcrew

Ah yes, Pokémon rivals; my favourite topic
Warning: this list is massively biased. I (kinda jokingly) rag on every ‘Awful’ tier rival, so if you don’t want to here that, feel free to skip that explanation. I am pretty harsh with Marnie, I know a lot of people like her, so if you do like her PLEASE don’t read her section because I do not want to upset anyone.
Also, I do ramble a bit how I like SWSH but they are my personal least favourite games (which is a hot take, I know), so if that would upset you please skip. Take care of yourselves <33
I created the politically correct ranking of Pokémon rivals (/j)
Anyway, epic explanation under the cut:
*if N was on this list he would fall under “Amazing”. Breath-taking story, breath-taking development, great theme songs, awesome character, fantastic team.
Why Blue is in S rank (very long explanation compared to the rest)
You cannot tell me Blue (or Green, or Gary, whatever you want to call the main Kanto rival) isn’t THE BEST RIVAL EVER. They got it SO RIGHT. He inspires hatred, AND sympathy. Literally, his grandad, the only living relative aside from his sister we even know about, loves you (the player) more than him and it’s kind of sad.
Blue is great, he has a crappy pronunciation of ‘Bonjour’ (see Pokémon Masters), he says ‘smell ya later!’ he has class, swag, and is by no doubt the most challenging rival character. He is the only rival I never swept on a normal run. He is always demeaning you; he is always one step ahead all the way up until the champion battle where you finally beat him. AND HIS CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT OMG.
He still is arrogant and prideful, but respects people and wants to guide people to be better at Pokémon battling and thrives when he sees others succeeding - he doesn’t mind being ‘a former champion’. HECK HE’S SO COOL AND AMAZING.
Also he has the best champion theme and encounter theme ever. Yes, he was a previous F/O so I am super biased; but so were 3 others on this list.
Silver and Gladion
These two were my F/Os when I was much younger (around 12). They are great rivals with great development and story arcs. Plus, they have bopper encounter themes and battle themes. Gladion was my real introduction to the oc x canon community and inspired me to take drawing on as a hobby (as well as Lillie but I did not end up drawing her as much).
Brendan, Cheren, Hugh, and Barry
When I was 10 playing Omega Ruby, I liked Brendan a lot (so... another past F/O... he’s the final one though). I dunno, he genuinely had a good friendship with that extra spice of rivalry with our character, May. I do not like friendly rivals (if my listing wasn’t obvious), but Brendan did it right. There was a lot of touching scenes with him and May *cough*cough* Delta Chapter *cough*cough* which really made me connect with him when I was 10. Now, Brendan and May are interchangeable depending on which one of them you pick to play as, so why have I ranked Bredan far above May? Better encounter and battle theme (yes, they have different instrumentation) and he gets the childhood crush pass.
Cheren is cool, I just really like his character and his attempts to create a good strategy. He is really dedicated to what he loves and becomes a gym leader (like BLUE DID. Blue has it all, really). Plus, glasses are cute :) (he is the same age as me, I can legally say that even though that was an obvious nod to Byakuya but you never know what people will take out of context).
Hugh is cool becomes he somewhat feels like an asshole rival, but at the same time, has a really soft side. Like, his whole motivation to be a good trainer is to save his sister’s Purrloin that was stolen by Team Plasma. He is a hero y’all. Also GREAT encounter and battle theme; huge thumbs up.
Barry! My man! Overall, cool rival with a great team. He is the second hardest rival to me (but Blue is harder than him by a landslide still). He is really funny in both the games and the anime and despite being a bit more friendly, he still sparks a lot of rivalry with you. Plus, his dad is battle frontier brain Palmer! How awesome! He was also my first rival, so that’s something special to me too.
Average Tier
I like Hau as a character, he feels like a genuine friend and how he develops with the main character and Lillie is really wholesome. It’s just - I dislike him as a rival, a lot. Easy fights, not the best encounter theme... just kind of there. I get why people consider Gladion as ‘the true rival’ of S and M because he really is. Hau is also a rival that chooses the starter WEAK to your starter like the gen 6 rivals (who I hate with my entire being).
Wally had a bad-ass final battle theme song and moment. That’s literally the only reason he makes the average tier. If this was a ranking disregarding ORAS he is easily down in the ‘Awful’ tier.
I like Pokémon Sword and Shield... except I just don’t like them as much as every other game (yes. I did play Pokémon Yellow and enjoyed it more, thank you). I know you all HATE that, but that is just my opinion - I think I have earned the right to say that after my almost 12 years of playing these games and being a VGC player for a few years. It has good characters and some cool Pokémon and yeah... gameplay? Lacklustre. I really do not know what went wrong outside of story. Somehow the competitive battle scene is not the fun it used to be. Dynamax bugs me, the lack of megas bugs me, the dex cut REALLY bugs me. I know I am not the only one who thought this game lacked the charm other Pokemon games have. Graphically though, it’s very nice for the most part.
I have gone way off-topic, but anyway, yeah. SWSH rivals make average because I like their characters (especially Hop’s development). Outside of that, not the best rivals.
May is cool for a lot of the reasons I discussed with Brendan.
Lacking Tier
I like Bianca’s whole deal with her dad and how Elesa has a nice moment to shine too - and that’s it. I know the whole theme of her team is friendship but I die inside every time I watch a Chandelure uses RETURN. It was cool she returned in BW2 I guess? I like how her battle theme matches her personality, but it isn’t anything to write home about.
I like Calem a bit more than Serena but I do not want to pull another Brendan and May (even though I had some good reason to do that) and I’m going to put them here. Bad teams and not memorable in the slightest, Calem and Serena belong in this tier.
Awful Tier
X and Y rivals amirite??? They just suck. They are annoying and they suck. They have 3 Pokémon in all final fights, really? At least Shauna is likeable in the anime.
I hate Trace. But, he has one funny memory I have with my dad that makes him slightly better. We both named him ‘Blue’ since Blue is the actual Kanto rival, but then Blue showed up in LGPE... And then the two ‘Blues’ talked to each other and it was mildly amusing at the time. Anyway, he didn’t deserve Blue’s champion theme (which is even used for Blue in later games outside of his champion battle (BW2), THAT IS NOT TRACE’S THEME. Anyway, he is the gross friendly rival that attempted to fulfil the best rival’s shoes. Sorry Trace, bad luck my dude.
I just never attached to Marnie I suppose, but I can understand that she is important to those who are invested in her. I am about to fully rag on Marnie, so please skip if that makes you upset.
I am going to hurt a lot of people when I said I never liked Marnie. She was always just... like why do people like her so much?? I feel like most people like her because she is ‘funny haha goth gf’ which, fair I suppose. I just think she is super lacking as a rival, she makes no real impression as an actual character, and I think if you removed her from the game it wouldn’t make a difference. Don’t want to be that guy, but I AM that guy right now. I suppose she has a cute design?? and that’s it. Again, I am really biased when it comes to SWSH and rivals, so I suppose she really got the short end of the stick with me.
#I am very big on Pokémon rivals — y’know — Pokémon being my favourite thing and all (and Byakuya <3)#but yeah#former VGC player here?? 12 years of experience! (which is nothing compared to others but y’know — I have a lot of biases since I’ve been-#-playing since I was 4.

Dream Lord, Grimm
“Troupe Master Grimm” © Caio Santos, accessed at their ArtStation here
[Commissioned by @arachcobra, who wanted dream demigods for the Dimension of Dreams. Since that’s a weird demiplane with relatively little information, I figured that it should be in the CR 21-25 range (and that the thematically similar Eldest of the First World are probably between CR 26 and 30). Hollow Night is, yet again, a game I am loosely familiar with but haven’t played. I did immediately fall in love with this character; theatrical goths are 100% my jam [see Gengar, my favorite Pokemon]. The main character is a tiny bug, right? So Grimm, who is enormous in comparison with him, is probably supposed to be about man-sized. But I wanted to have that scale difference if you’re having him fight your adventurers.]
Dream Lord, Grimm CR 23 CN Outsider (extraplanar) This spindly giant stands four times the height of a man, with thin clawed limbs concealed beneath a shadowy cloak. His head is a white mask shaped like a heart set in a sea of black, with red eyes and a vertical stripe through each. He moves with effortless grace despite his great size.
Dream Lord, Grimm Troupe Lord, The Nightmare King CN male dream lord of fire, rebirth and theater Domains Chaos, Fire, Healing, Luck Subdomains Fate, Resurrection, Revelry, Whimsy Favored Weapon lance Holy Symbol a heart-shaped mask with red eyes and a vertical black stripe through each eye Worshipers bards, destined sorcerers, performers, pyromancers Minions animate dreams, chaotic phoenixes, fire elementals Obedience Give a performance lasting at least one hour to an audience of at least one individual. This performance must incorporate a live flame into the act in some way. Gain a +4 sacred bonus to saves against fire effects Boons 1: levitate 2/day; 2: dimension door 2/day; 3: delayed blast fireball 2/day
Grimm is a dream lord, but is rarely found in the depths of the Dimension of Dreams. He is a vagabond and traveling entertainer, who moves from plane to plane with his troupe of fiery acrobats, clowns, dancers and thespians. In addition to the staged dramas his troupe performs, he often tasks heroes on these journeys with great quests to fulfill his love of real drama. These quests often involve journeys to perilous locations, nurturing a strange dream being, and culminate by facing him in battle. If the drama is successful, he is slain and reborn, demonstrating the cyclical nature of fate and the universe, before departing for new environs.
Grimm’s need to be faced in mortal combat is a compulsion that even he cannot fully explain, and it seems as though Grimm may be beholden to some power greater than he. Grimm is a dedicated combatant and fights to win. He has a sense of sportsmanship and theatricality, and creatures that do not respect his theatrical gestures (like beginning and ending combat with a bow) earn his disdain. Grimm typically opens combat by summoning flying fire elementals and focusing his attacks on enemies that are resistant or immune to fire. Grimm’s cape has a mind of its own and can twist into numerous shapes, such as a stinger to jab at foes, a drill when Grimm charges through enemies or a spiked ball to defend the Nightmare King when he uses his spell-like abilities.
Grimm’s personality is typically charming and smooth. He is soft spoken and careful with his words, and is happy to explain the nature of his fate to others, as long as they play their proper part in the revels. He is fond of bats, and incorporates many bat-like mannerisms into his behavior—resting while hanging upside down is a particular favorite. He is fond of artists, dreamers and performers of all stripes, and may bestow them with his divine favor as a patron.
Grimm stands about twenty feet tall, but is lean and light for his height.

Dream lords gain the following abilities:
Immune to charm, compulsion, disease, poison and sleep effects
Immune to one energy type and resistance to another two energy types
A dream lord’s natural weapons, and any weapon it wields, count as chaotic and magical for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction
Occult (Ex) A dream lord gains Lucid Dreamer as a bonus feat, and can use occult skill unlocks even if it lacks other psychic magic
Shield of Dreams (Su) A dream lord adds its Charisma modifier as a deflection bonus to its AC and CMD
Summon (Sp) Once per day, a dream lord can summon thematically appropriate monsters as a standard action. These creatures remain until dismissed or for 1 hour. A dream lord cannot summon a monster or monsters of greater than a CR 19
Dream lords can grant spells to worshipers as detailed in their divine information. A worshiper can gain boons from performing an obedience to a dream lord, as per the Deific Obedience feat, but the boons granted are simple, appearing as a 2nd, 4th and 6th level spell usable as a spell-like ability twice per day.
Drill Rush (Ex) This ability functions as the trample special attack, except that Grimm deals piercing damage with this attack and can use it on creatures of his size or smaller. The save DC is Strength based. Impaling Field (Su) As a full round action, Grimm may create multiple copies of his cape and force them to grow from the ground. He may make a single sting attack against all opponents in a 40 foot radius. Grimm may only use this ability once every 1d4 rounds. Revivify (Su) The first time in a year that Grimm is slain, he immediately returns to life and full health 1d4 rounds later. If slain for a second time that year, he is reformed in the Dimension of Dreams over the course of a century, and cannot enter the plane he was slain in for another millennium. If Grimm is slain in the area of a dimension lock spell or forbiddance keyed to chaotic neutral creatures, he cannot revivify, but returns to life in the Dimension of Dreams as above. Permanently slaying Grimm is a feat subject to GM discretion, but should involve a great quest, an artifact, or mythic power. Spiny Configuration (Ex) As a move action, Grimm can invert his cape and point it outward in a shield of spines. He may not make melee attacks in this configuration, but creatures striking him with melee weapons, touch attacks, natural weapons or unarmed strikes take 1d8+12 points of piercing damage on each hit. Melee weapons with reach do not endanger their wielders in this way. Grimm can revert his cape as another move action. Stagger (Ex) A creature struck by Grimm’s sting attack must succeed a DC 33 Fortitude save or be staggered for 1d3 rounds. The save DC is Strength based. Summon Firebats (Sp) As a standard action, Grimm can summon 4 fiery bats. These are treated as elder fire elementals with a fly speed equal to their land speed (perfect maneuverability).

1. Human, variant ++Int +Dex, unarmed combat feat
2. Wizard
3. Martial adept + pact magic initiate
4. Murt the Magnificent, clueless halfling rogue with incredible luck (NPC)
5. Xylarthen, an Illusionist. Befriended animals a lot and kept some as pets. Befriended NPCs a lot and kept some as retainers. Found a hugely valuable gem in a random beast’s lair. Built a castle.
6. Corinne, a teen female redhead Bard
7. I like to make archetypes with a twist - min/max for power except one divergent aspect from a feat or background (war cleric with a bardic ability, wizard with a two handed sword, bard with religion, and so on)
8. Big axe death blow from a friend on a giant snake that was constricting me near to death.
9. My natural 18/00 Strength 1st edition Fighter ( 1 in 21,600 chance) got gutted by an Owlbear on his 2nd adventure. Still stings 49 years later. See #22 for the tale of an awesome death. And #28 for an unlucky one.
10. Clerics because they’re pretty good at magic and fighting. And their magic is great for keeping themselves and others in the fight. And I’m an atheist so the irony is rich and the roleplaying an interesting challenge.
11/12/13. Yes
14. Yes but only as a DM (NPC pursued PC successfully)
15. I really love playing, but the creativity, challenge, worldbuilding, and control of being DM wins out.
16/17. What are those?
18. Crude. Sketches on a whiteboard in complex battles.
19. Overheard guys on the schoolbus rolling up a character and asked about it.
20. Your adopted sister comes from evil, but you know she is good. Your twin brother is the beloved heir, but you alone know he is evil.
21. No minis.
22. The ship-to-ship combat went poorly for us on the choppy seas under low and scudding clouds. We’ve been boarded, and the slavers have us outnumbered. Not such great idea after all for our adventuring party to sign on as guards. We’re pretty much the last stand, and half of us aren’t standing anymore. I’m nearly dead and just got pinned by a razor-studded mancatcher. I can’t fight, I can’t cast my spells, but I know there’s still a chance I can save us all. “Thor, this is our hour of need. I plead for us that you strike down these cowards so I may continue to honor you with the help of these boon companions.” I wait…. I struggle…. I bleed…. I hear the groan and thump as another friend goes down…. I plead - “Hear me, I beg you! I know I have proved myself unworthy to serve a battle-god and my soul shall never feast in Valhalla’s halls, but intervene so these friends shall not die, but live and honor you the way I could not!” Instantly, lightning strikes me, and Thor’s divine might pours through me and out of me to lash at every last slaver. And strikes me again to lash them again. And again, and again, and again, and as they curl and blacken and crackle and boil and die, so do I.
23. No art.
24. Lots of Amber; a little bit of GURPS and Traveller.
25. Anything that doesn’t crunch too loudly - gotta hear each other and the DM.
26. If there isn’t a potion with a permanent beneficial effect, then I guess Superheroism for an emergency.
27. Wish. Duh! All other answers are incorrect.
28. Dwarf Fighter/Cleric with lots of anti magic buffs gets ahead of the party in an evil temple to try to get there fast enough to stop the evil ritual. Sees a priest in the garb of a low rank minion and charges down the corridor to cleave him with my Big Axe. Minor priest has just enough rank to know Hold Person and wins initiative so my nat 1 leaves me helpless at his feet (I think I needed to roll a 5 to save). By the time the party catches up I’ve already bled out from a cut throat.
29. No.
30. Both!
31. Sadly, no current party.
32. A rogue/illusionist who kept kicking the crap out of us by using stealth, misdirection, ambush, and escape. He was hunting us while we were fighting through a troll and giant infested dungeon. Not good!
33. No.
34. I am only capable of bad accents.
35. “You’re hanging out in a tavern and…”
36. Can’t remember; it’s been about 40 years. #5 and the first one in #9 were very early characters from my first year of playing.
37. NPC warlock/ranger, both subclasses with an elementalist focus - homebrew that swaps out some regular features for magic like the powers of the elementalist monk. He’s the dad for #20.
38. Kobolds. Especially if you give the the lore of Krynn Draconians, keep them weak individually but make them cunning and cooperative so the are strong collectively.
39. Gotta be the jerk from #32.
40. There are no deities - see number 10 - so I can’t be a Cleric. I could be a Warlock if you can find me a worthy Patron. I could even be a Druid if you make the Old Faith about the self-empowerment of belief in non-personified Nature or about channeling power from the Fey/Feywild if you can show them to me. If I was in a D&D world and knew deities were real there (and not just ultra-powerful Patron types) then I would be a Knowledge Cleric; you pick the NG or CG deity.
41. “I am the direct representative of the Frog Deity!”

43. Theater of the mind, see #18 for exceptions.
44. See #16 and #17
45. Lightweight! 5 hours is about the longest session.
46. Tie, each battle was a couple of hours. A) one-shot session where the party had to face off against Asmodeus and company (Redstone Keep module???). B). Full-scale raid on the House of Kilsek in the Vault of the Drow. Party rallied some local Underdark resistance and also brought along a bunch of followers and henchmen from the surface. Over in a couple dozen rounds but every round had more than a couple dozen attacks and saving throws and other rolls.
47. My character from #5 made it to 14th level before I moved away.
48. The good ones did!

50. What do you think of 5th editions Class/Subclass system?
I like it a lot better than older edition Prestige Classes. However, I want a LOT more flexibility via modular design.
Simplest thing is to unify what level Subclass Features can be taken and get rid Of the class requirements (rename them “Archetypes”). I recommend every odd level, but limiting them with a prerequisite proficiency bonus set by the ‘book’ level acquired. So you can become an Elementalist Animal Companion Fighter. Or an Assassin Oath of Vengeance Cleric. Or a Wild Magic Great Old One Wizard. How about an Oath of Ancients Moon Circle Rogue? It is probably best to rewrite the non-spell aspects of core Ranger and Paladin abilities (possibly Bard, Druid, and Barbarian) as if they were a set of Subclass features. Be generous in the way you allow abilities to be invoked so the full flavor of an Archetype comes out.
As an extension of this idea, combine similar Archetypes - for example, combine Nature Domain with Oath of Ancients with non shape shifting Druid stuff and call it Green. So you have Green Fighters and Green Clerics in your world instead of Rangers and Druids. Perhaps the shapeshifting feels right combined with Totem animals and animal companions and maybe eve circle of land, and the last long rest determines the core animal that arrives, what you can turn into, and spells. Call it Beast, so Beast Fighters and Beast Wizards/Clerics are a thing.
To implement this Core+Archetype system more fully, reduce things to just 2 core classes: Combat & Caster. Combat picks Dex or Str and gets 2+Prof Surges per short rest and has Edge Dice and Maneuvers. Caster gets 2+Prof Channels per short rest, and the Spellcasting Table. The pick Int for Arcane-ish spell list, Wis or Cha for charm, healing, and Divine-ish stuff, and you can separate spell lists for Deities and Old Faith/Fey/Nature if you like.
Every level you pick a few Features (half-feats, old subclass or old class partial or whole abilities) in a free-form way, probably only restricted by your level, some things available only for one class. IF you pick several that resonate to a single theme, you gain some extra synergy Features - and that’s how you pick major themes that fell like being a Paladin, or an Elementalist, or a Berserker, or a Sage (glue some knowledge stuff from cleric and bard), or a Rogue. Most of these “Archetypical” features are driven by burning a Surge or Channel, so the magic features still work for Combat characters. Ki and sorcery point systems can be tossed in favor of this system. Also, a lot of combat moves can be recast as Maneuvers— Monk stuff from ki and Valor Bard, for example.

Time for the Sinnoh kids!!
- Platina is daughter of Athena
- Remeber when I said Daisy was Athena’s favorite? well it was a lie, Platina is
- She is the brain of the Sinnoh trio, barely fights but if it’s necessary she will do it
- One day her mansion was attacked by monsters looking for a book Athena gave her father
- Her father was kiddnaped by said monsters
- He gave her the book they were looking for
- Sebastian (her butler’s name I think??) is actually a satyr
- He was taking her to camp half-blood when they found Pearl and Diamond
- Platina and Pearl are half-siblings (duh)
- They didn’t get along at all at first tho
- Diamond is son of Demeter
- He is the assigned chef but not because he is good at cooking (he is tho), it’s because the other two suck at it
- His mom gave him a pendant that transforms into a sickle
- He hates fighting and preffers talking, it never works
- He can control plants and stuff like all the demeter kids
- Because of this he always has stuff to eat, though he prefers junk food
- He never gets angry but when he does it’s more like dissapointing, all the people who have experienced it can agree it’s the worst
- He and Pearl have been friends and neighbors since they were little so everybody thought pearl’s dad and Dia’s mom where dating
- He sees Palmers as some kind of fathers, cool uncle figure
- Because of Pearl’s fear of spiders (and later platina too) he is always prepared for spiders but instead of killing them he takes them out
- Platina and Pearl call him the Spider Tamer in secret because he finds the name silly
- He convinced the Hephaestus Cabin to build a special tv that doesn’t attrack monsters to watch his tv programs
- Pearl is Athena’s son
- He doesn’t like her at all
- This is because she is kind of a jerk
- When he and dia first arrived at the camp Dia wa claimed first so he had to spent the night at Hermes Cabin alone
- He kind of resents Dia for leaving him but feels bad for thinking that
- He wasn’t comfortable at first but then got along with the Hermes Cabin and helped them with their pranks
- Everybody thought he was a Hermes kid because of this
- When he was claimed Platina got really angry because she found ridiculous that a “buffon” like him was son of Athena
- He uses a crossbow cause it’s faster and more powerful than a bow
- He can never get calm, like never, he is always moving and doing something
- He sees Dia’s mom as a mother figure
- Dia always had his powers and could invoke fruits even before they knew ther were demigods but never cared much about it, he always says “It’s a Dia’s thing”
- Pearl and Dia want to be comedians (like in the manga) but it was seen bad for an Athena’s child to do something so stupid and meaningless as comedy
- Athena didn’t take him seriously because of this but then got proven wrong
- He is one of the best strategist in the camp
- Because of Palmer’s job he was always away so Pearl practically live in Dia’s house
- They found out they were demigods because one day they found Gold unconscious near the twon where they lived and took him to Dia’s house, then got attacked by monsters who kidnapped his parents (they were looking for Platina’s father but only knew that one of Athena’s lovers (??) had the book but didn’t knew which one) and Gold took them to camp half-blood
That’s all for now, if anyone has ideas I’d love to see them <33 I’m taking a break before doing the other characters. I have all of the godly parents planned for the other dex holders up to Alola, except for black-two and Cheren so if anyobody has any ideas it would be great if you tell me. Also I’m going to add other characters, like Misty, sabrina, etc.

Review Response, Legacy #002
It's been 6 days since the update. Not QUITE a week, and the count is nowhere near 10 as usual, but... eh, almost a week.
Just like SA, it irks me that "chapter x" is actually listed as "x+n" in the site. Like, for SA, chapter 30 was listed as like chapter 33 or something due to intermission. And now in Legacy, thanks to the 3 prologues, chapter 2 is listed as chapter 5. Annoying.
1) Although I don't necessarily "ship" it, it's nice to see a relationship forming between Blue and Red rather than with Yellow. Also grape lollipops are the best!
Indeed. F*ck Yellow (n+10). Yellow's only purpose in Legacy is to witness Red and Blue kissing. ... Which is really mean, now that I think about it. But... ehn. And yay, grapes! ... Speaking of which, I should go get lunch, which is just... a handful of grapes.
2) This chapter was a little uneventful, but it's still the beginning of the story so that's understandable. Heh. Black still has to do the hardest work when setting up camp. I saw the new dex holder preference list, and you mentioned that X would have competition for Y. I wonder who it is. Poor Blue. She wants to be with Red so much, but she can't bring herself to tell him in fear of losing him. Speaking of losing someone, I wonder which one of the Luckyshipping pairing you promised to kill off in the future will be. Red or Blue. I suppose I'll find out eventually. Keep up the good work.
Well, until the happiness train gets derailed, things may be a bit slow. But hey, now is going to be like the only opportunity to see some Dex Holder interactions.
Yes, X will have some competition. But... the competition(s) will probably not have a name since I don't like coming up with names. Hmm. Maybe if I take a look at the names of trainers in the XY games...
Did I promise to kill one of Red or Blue? I don't remember that promise. I mean, I know I'm going to kill one of them, but I don't remember the promise. If I don't remember, then chances are, I made the promise because I knew it was going to happen anyways.
3) I absolutely love the character interactions in this chapter. The dialogue is never out of place, though I was a little impressed at Y's quick thinking (since she didn't think to check her Zweilous' pokédex entry). I like that the juniors are getting stronger, although it's mostly Y and Platinum, and that their pokémon are used practically and involved in their trainers' interactions, adding to the setting (more on that later). Overall, the chapter is great for character dynamics and power levels. However, it detracts from the plot as a whole, as I forgot about the villains and the fact that Legacy is an adventure story entirely. Was this intentional as to drop a bombshell on the dex holders later? Also, I understand that this is a fanfiction, so anyone reading should already know the setting, but I still think it's important to describe some details or add some imagery so it doesn't feel as if this is all happening in a plane outside the pokémon universe (the locations mentioned at the tops somewhat help to ground the settings). Either way, this is solid writing, and I patiently look forward to more updates.
Heh. By all means, focus on the happiness and peace in the story. Before the happiness train gets derailed and sh*t starts happening.
Hmm. Details of the setting? You know, I keep meaning to do that. But I just never get to it, since... it's not the important thing that's going on in the scene. At best, I end up making like a sentence worth of detail before losing patience and getting straight into the main scene.
4) Aww this chapter is so sweet! I've always kind of seen Red and Blue like the parents of the dexholders trying to reign in their weird and quirky juniors, I wish there were more chapters of Blue interacting a building relationships with other junior dexholders as well
Heh. Maybe if the juniors were just... kids. "Y, get down from that tree before you hurt yourself! Sapphire, put the tree down before you hurt someone! Black, keep your voice down!"
5) Great chapter. I really enjoyed this one. Mainly Blue's part. The last chunk where she realizes what she is missing is Red was just beautiful. Honestly gave me goosebumps. Definitely excited to see this continue
The actual "loneliness" scene turned out to be a LOT shorter than I thought it was. Kind of beats the point of the title, really. Maybe if Blue left the tent and snuck towards the boys' tent to peek inside to look at Red... and not realizing that Y woke up from that motion and saw her do that. ... ... Damn it, I should've done that. Extend that scene a bit more. Curses.
