Hmm... good question I could imagine Akira being a good father, perhaps the most patient out of the two of them and very affectionate to his child. Ryo would struggle a little at first since as you've said he didn't have a good father figure, and he would do all he can to be less overbearing than his own father had been (I hc that God was veryyy controlling towards all his children especially Satan) so sometimes Ryo is a little too lenient to the kid to make up for all his own childhood and Akira has to step in to make sure there is some discipline in their child's life.

I think Miki would be delighted for Akira and Ryo for having such a sweet child and she helps babysit their baby whenever Akira and Ryo need time together or a break since their baby is hella active XD

Tare would've made all yaoi baby jokes(including the butthole baby jokes XD) until he was told to knock it off by his mother and Miki XD otherwise he likes catch with the baby since they can fly up real high!

Miki's parents would be terribly confused on how this baby came about even if they know Ryo is an angel and is intersex. Also Miki's mother frets whenever the baby flies around the house whenever Akira and Ryo visit and has to make sure the baby doesn't accidentally hit their head on the ceiling fan! XD Miki's father is just bummed out that he isn't allowed to smoke his pipe anymore but is Akira has settled down and has a family (Now if only he could convince Miki and her gf Mikiko to do the same...)

Subaru and Seishirou are from Tokyo Babylon, it's a BL manga so they're a canon couple, they're just messy about it. The adaptations didn't want to be BL though so they censored literally the main plot of the manga

as much as i dream of a perfect sciencesaru reboot of xxxholic (as long as they don't get too crazy w hima, I saw early devilman crybaby) i do think that ppl should stop avoiding janky 2000s low budget-looking anime for its looks cause 1. half my favourite shows are this and 2. it's funny. you all love goofy frames of your favs for funny memes and sillies right??? you all love a silly little joke right??? what if i told you there's EXCELLENT AND BEAUTIFUL AND AESTHETIC CHARACTERS with EXCELLENT WRITING and ARCS and you get to enjoy them both as really cool pretty fashion models AND as goofy silly fucking react images

DEVILMAN crybaby, Legacies of Queerness, and Diversifying Remakes

SPOILERS for DEVILMAN crybaby, Devilman, and Devilman Lady. CONTENT WARNING: NSFW screenshots.

DEVILMAN crybaby has been tearing up the internet since it dropped a few weeks ago, sparking conversation about its use of sex, violence, horror, and taboo to tell a story about love and the end of the world. Not an inconsiderable amount of that discussion was centered around the series’ queer representation. What do you do with a series that features sympathetic representation while also roundly killing its queer characters off, and does it make a difference that everybody is dying?

This is and isn’t new: the first incarnation of the Devilman franchise to make it to the states was the late 1980s/early 1990s OVA, where it made a minor stir but not much of a lasting impression in western fandom. Meanwhile, Nagai’s five-volume manga and its many adaptations and spin-offs were inspiring everything from Berserk to CLAMP.

Because Ryo’s love for Akira has been there since the very beginning of an extremely influential franchise, it means that crybaby winds up not just reinventing a single work, but talking back to an archetype that its source material helped cement.
