Forever Gold has fairly frequent insert illustrations - and so we put scribble placeholders until we are sure the vague idea of the drawing fits with the finalized writing. Then the snout and human versions of it are finalized!
The placeholders all look VERY special. High art.

Hi! I think I read that you're the person behind squee!Book? I really miss that site, is there any chance it'll come back up or perhaps have the code released onto github for others to host? :)
Hi! I am, and I’m glad it was useful! Unfortunately I’m not sure I actually have the code anymore - even if I do tbh it’s so old it probably won’t be usable.
Download and convert seems to be pretty covered as a thing now - is there something squee!book did specifically you’re after? Others in here might be able to suggest extensions or platforms that do similar.

Hi, just thought I'd let you know that when I tried to download your game, my laptop immediately flagged it as a virus. Idk why and I cancelled the download before it was complete. It might be purely an issue on my end (which if it is, my bad lol) but I thought you might want to know just incase

Thanks for letting me know! I haven’t had any other reports of similar issues so it seems like it is an issue with your computer. If you’re on windows, sometimes if the game you’re downloading is from a lesser known source (like itch.io) it’ll give you a warning. I’m not really all that tech savvy, so I’m not entirely sure, but I do know that some games on itch will read as viruses when they’re not. What you wanna do with that info is up to you, but unless something weird happened, I’m sure there’s no virus on my game ^^

I was gonna have him just specify either Sophie or Liam, but he's coded in to pick whoever is highest besides himself now. in order of basically who he's personally closest to/trusts most with val to the least
So if Sophie and Ethan have the same affection, which is likely, He'll pick Sophie over Ethan since Ethan doesn't have powers. But Ethan has priority over Zacharie despite him being closer w Zacharie because that's Val's best friend.

can the mc be nonbinary? i know this probably wouldnt work because of how the reaping works but i might as well ask lol
i keep trying to think of a way to make it work but i don't know if I can. like obviously mc could stand in a certain crowd during the reaping and stuff but at the end of the day they're going to be called "the boy/girl from 8" a lot. I don't think anyone wants to play a game where they're constantly being misgendered

Made an itch dot io post about most of my favorite things from Nuclear Knights that I ended up cutting. The most important part is that you used to be able to play as an OLD ONE, a kinda unknowable floating horror-cube, but it was just obviously too much to explain considering what type of game it is. Held that one white-knuckled for a while. Took a lot of soul searching to leave it behind. They still appear as an enemy... but they used to be a friend....

so like. at what point are we going to stop listening to game companies saying "the game was poorly received and didn't meet our sales targets, and that's why we're removing it from storefronts and taking down all the servers mere months or even weeks after release" for titles that had a long expensive development, were barely marketed, and nobody knew they'd even released until after they heard they were getting shut down and couldn't be played/purchased anymore?
I feel like the prevailing takeaway for anyone who doesn't just conclude "yeah, game was pretty mid, makes sense to me" has usually been "this company just has unreasonably impossible sales expectations and treats every project like a failure if it doesn't print a trillion dollars". but these ARE allegedly experienced business execs who aren't complete idiots, and after this most recent debacle with Concord I'm starting to wonder if a bunch of these "games getting wiped out of existence when they underperform instead of just being allowed to persist as they are and maybe improve with time" cases in recent years might be more of a Warner-Discovery type situation, like nuking an entire animated series or film that was worked on for years and preventing it from being sold because it has to be officially unprofitable for the company to use it as a tax write-off. I look at a game that was worked on for 8 years and only made available for 2 weeks, and it's hard not to see the parallels.

in case yall caught yourselves thinking that theres not a lot goin on under the hood over here this the cg code.
1 body for alex, 2 head poses, 3 expressions for pose B, expression 1 is lightly animated. 2 body poses for val, 4 expressions for pose B, expression 2 is lightly animated. i defined the background, then alex's poses and expressions, then vals, then put them all together as one image for the gallery, but i dont want the animations to start over during the scene every time the image changes, so the characters are separate in the actual script code so they can change like sprites.
the background parts are separate so that i can animate the "weather", moving clouds behind trees, snow in front of and behind the characters. the moon is separate because its on the opposite side of the image in liams version and im using the same moon image.
