can anyone tell me what's the benefit of having hi-dpi 1080p screens on laptops?

i mean yeah it's nice for media i guess??? But everything in my desktop looks looks so tiny!! What's the point of having "more resolution" i.e. more pixels to put my stuff in, if I'm gonna have to lose that real state by scaling everything up again?

1080p no scaling: plenty of room, but I have to look at my screen through a magnifier glass 1080p 125%: The size of things is equivalent to a native 1600x900px screen

Yet if I set my screen to that res, now it's up to the screen's basic upscaling to fill the screen space and blurs everything

I mean, for some strange reason I like how crisp and sharp fonts look on XP(and/or 7 maybe?) and further back, but I'm on a 1080p display with fractional scaling, so it just looks wonky and unreadable

ok so fractional scaling has nothing to do with it, it still looks like shit.

srsly why do some letters become thicker than others OH MAYBE it's the UI font that I need to change

don’t understand where people get the energy to be an active participant in their own lives. the days just happen to me for real

Reasons why computer problems seem to mysteriously vanish as soon as a technician shows up:
