The Discarded Instrument, a full piano adaptation of Destiny's Music of the Spheres, is now available! Adapted straight from the original orchestral sheet music scores and recorded with the same piano VST that Marty O'Donnell used to draft the music.
Music of the Spheres was the musical foundation written for Destiny in 2011 and 2012 by Martin O'Donnell, Michael Salvatori, and none other than Sir Paul McCartney, who wrote some of the main motifs for it and wrote the song at the end! Bungie declined to use it for a while due to drama with Martin O'Donnell, but they recently brought it back for The Final Shape expansion, where it played several times, such as in the final celebration cutscene in the Tower.
I worked on this for over a year and I'd love for you to check it out. It's available on all streaming platforms, as well on Bandcamp to buy digitally and as a physical CD.

My only hope for Lightfall is that the final boss theme is an electric guitar solo rendition of either the main Destiny motif or an entirely unique hero tune.
Please Bungie, I just want to feel like a superhero teaming up with 5 other badasses to punch a god into the stratosphere.

Marty O’Donnell is a good musician and composer.
But he can also be an insufferable arse and an armchair developer prone to shit takes, one with an insufferable ego the size of a fucking planet!

"I think I could beat Cayde in The Crucible."
A few days later...
Tumblr media
Him:"Aaaaaaand apparently I'm against Cayde...Not gonna lie though. I do like my odds here." 😏
Me:"Never bet against me."
The results:
Tumblr media
Now,this score normally wouldn't be anything to write home Tumblr about, but the situation in and of itself is (to me. I think this is hilarious and wanted to share.)
Technically, his score is lower than that because two of those defeats were because of my own hubris. I got cocky and was bounding around the map and bounded off of the ledge twice, which,if you think about it,was pretty on brand.
He spent the majority of the second half of the round hiding in his little bubble repeatedly asking where I was. My answer?
"I'm with you, kiddo. Your Light,is my Light. You're my favorite... don't ever forget that." promptly followed by me absolutely smoking him and winning the game.
I strike fear into this Titan's heart and the best part is,he forgets that fear the second we step out of the Crucible.

Geomantic: A multi-genre cover collection of Destiny music
I'm a little late posting this here but oh well
Geomantic is a multi-genre cover album of music from Destiny 1. It includes genres such as orchestral, metal, piano, EDM, chiptune, harpsichord, choir, and more, and spans tracks from all over D1, including unused tracks that weren't in the game. This is the follow-up to "Geomantic: Ruminations on Destiny" from 2019, and the first 33 minutes of this video are that album.
Also included is "The Dawning Carols" from 2020, same concept but all of the music that plays during Destiny 2's in-game Christmas event, The Dawning. The new material is divided into two other "albums," Geomantic Revelations and Mixes From Ishtar Sink.
Artists: AtlyxMusic, Paulo Clayton, Ryan Abundo, Slaw, Aaron T. Phillips, Rosa Nagashi, Chris Norton, Jafet Meza, Breshi, Xavier Scheetz, AlyxGMusic, Gabriel Garcia, Myzrir, Luke Nemitz, and Emblyne.
The full collection is 60 tracks and was worked on by about a dozen people. Since I'd run out of characters and this post would be a wall of text if I listed every track and what it is, I'm just going to list some highlights.
Via - an original track inspired by The Path
Cloudburst Over Tower North - Remembrance from The Taken King in the style of film noire
A Common Hope - a 19-voice male choir recording of Guardian, the D1 title screen music
Untold Redux - a metal cover of Untold Legends
Sundown in Vostochny - a metal cover of The Last Array
Son of Saturn - a metal cover of Soul of Crota
Devouring Maw - an EDM cover of Fallen SABER.
Black Ice - an EDM cover of the "Winter Voyage" Dawning theme
Remaining Luminous - an original piano track
Fortuna Minor - a concert band cover of The Tribulation from Music of the Spheres
All Good Things - a nostalgic piano cover of "All Ends Are Beginnings"
Iron Morceau - a piano cover of Brave the Storm from Rise of Iron
Laetitia - a live piano cover of The Ecstasy from Music of the Spheres
Acquisitio
In All Ages - a recreation of the music from the D1 Age of Triumph cinematic, aka the last time a lot of these D1 themes were ever used
Conjunctio - a metal cover of The Union
Infortuna Major - an orchestral/metal hybrid cover of an unused D1 Vanilla track
Tristitia - an orchestral/metal hybrid cover of an unused D1 Vanilla track
Fortuna Major - a take on To Be A Warlock from The Taken King
A Walk Down Memory Lane - After All This Time (from The Final Shape) but in the vein of the D1 version, in the style of "A Walk in the Woods" from Halo: Combat Evolved.
Dasjahre - An orchestral remake/cover/interpretation of an unused D1 Vanilla track
Saturn Surveillance - A mashup/interpretation of D1 Dreadnaught patrol tracks
Stillness At Dawn - a cover of The Dawning theme from D1
Thoroughfare - a Destiny arrangement in the style of "Peril" from Halo 2.
Geomantic - an ambient track ruminating on Destiny
Revelations - a narrated poetry track exploring the themes that inspired all of this
You have our permission to use this music in whatever videos/streams you want, and we hope to have it on Spotify soon (TM). In the meantime, you can find the music in lossless in the descriptions of the videos.

i could write a 100 page essay about what a fucking masterpiece warframe is. i will write many words in the tags. please readem if you want my 'tism.
#ive been playing on and off since 2019 but its only recently when i dumped destiny 2 (probably for good) and picked it up#to fill the grind-shaped hole in my heart#that i have uncovered just how FUCKING INCREDIBLE warframe is#everything about it makes me incredibly autistic#from its masterful utilization of an incredibly styled and individual soundtrack full of absolute bangers#to its seemingly unique understanding of how and why an MMO is special to and because of its players#and its truly special story- a uniquely human take on the “post-ruin scifi” tale#it knows exactly how and when to yank on your heart to make you weep like a baby#and it knows exactly when you're going to get angry and want vengeance#and it knows when to let you let loose and unleash hell#SPOILERS FOR THE NEW WAR AHEAD#IF YOU THINK YOU COULD PLAY THE GAME PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO#SPOILER WARNING#i think the narmer corruption of fortuna was genuinely one of the most gutpunchingly horrible moments ive ever experienced in a video game#i started playing when fortuna was already in the game but the story of fortuna and vox solaris was really what made warframe stand out 2 m#i would drop into the orb vallis as gauss and dash around doing bounties and fishing and mining because i really loved everything about#fortuna and wanted to spend as much time there as possible#for me vox solaris was my proudest achievement (in warframe.) to say “i helped that! i did that!” was an incredibly good feeling#the story really spoke to me on a deeper level#and vox solaris has always been my favorite faction as a result#so to do absolutely everything that i could#to lift together with my tenno brothers and sisters and yet STILL fail?#and to have it rubbed in my face by the corruption of the greatest shining pillar of hope in the warframe universe?#felt like i got kicked in the stomach#i felt sad and angry. but most of all i was DRIVEN.#which is GOOD. because RARELY does a video game present you the “you lost” scenario and have it feel not only satisfyingly painful#but MOTIVATING.#my only complaint with the new war is that i didnt get to hack ballas to pieces by myself#i had real flashbacks to running around helping people as gauss while approaching the final boss with erra#and to step onto the ballas arena as gauss prime. i nearly came from the narrative significance

i like to think that the reason why apollo’s theme in dual destinies has an epic guitar part is that it’s a reference to klavier!!! or even that klavier potentially remade his theme himself to make it sound even cooler with the guitar part in it

I finished Destiny 2: The Final Shape around 12 hours ago and I still haven't recovered. As someone who started by playing Destiny 1 with my Taken King Collection Edition PS4 and jumped in and out of the series since then, i don't think I could have asked for a better ending to this 10 year Journey.
For those out of the loop, over the past 5 days the FPS video game world basically had its "Endgame" moment. Closing the book on a story that started all the way back in 2014. Its had a very tumultuous time getting here (thats what 3 different publishers including self publishing and many pre-production story reboots will do to you) but it all came together in a beautiful conclusion that in my opinion is the best expansion the series has ever seen by far. IDK I guess stories of loss, grief and purpose just hit me extra hard I suppose. Well anyway now that thats over and done with, how about listening to a classic. Here's Hoping the next years go a bit smoother eh?
