For a game with central themes such as „every being should have a right to self-determination and autonomy“, „inclusionary communities forms bonds strong enough to protect themselves from forces that seek to prey on it“, „free will, though scary and potentially leading to harmful actions, is something worth defending for every being“, and „the cruelty the universe can spawn can be overcome with the will to continue on and do better for your people“, I find it so disappointing we‘ve had little lore that give psions the spotlight, let alone a narrative that focuses on their struggle to build back their culture and lives after who-knows-how-many-years of servitude.

I feel like the psions are the most underdeveloped in-game species, and when we do get development for them, it’s always in the context of them serving the cabal empire or the Conclave taking on antagonistic roles to sabotage the efforts of the Vanguard. I love the development of the eliksni and how in recent years, the game has really been pushing stories that humanize them, validates their struggles, and gives them hope for the future of their species, I just wish psions got the same courtesy.

Yes, they were freed under Caiatl‘s rule, but that wasn‘t given much narrative emphasis as they either continued to act for the empire or joined the Conclave, neither of which gave them a stronger presence in the story or a character that joins our cast of allies .

What was their servitude like? How much cruelty and discrimination did they face? Were there revolutions and movements for better legal protections? What parts of their culture, besides religion, did they bring with them when they were taken by the empire? Is there still anti-psion sentiments present in Uluran culture? What was their home planet like and do elder psions remember it like Riis-born eliksni remember Riis?

The psions have been influenced by Nezarec/the Witness, have been a part of the cabal empire and it’s turmoils for an extended period of time, posses incredible intelligence and psionic powers (that may have connections to the darkness), have a religious schism that was affected by Nezarec’s disappearance and the empire preventing open practices of their beliefs, and yet they are always treated as an afterthought (usually antagonistic), a one-off character in lore, or given a subservient role.

Psions are so cool and deserve the universe, yet we are given crumbs when we could have meals that accentuate the messages Destiny is trying to craft, such as respecting the right of others to have beliefs and perceptions of their own. Psions feel less like people and more like characters playing side roles to progress smaller story beats. It’s so infuriating and I don’t know if Bungie is just too timid to tackle a story involving slavery, there wasn’t enough time to develop them, or Bungie never intended for them to be more than what they currently are. I have hope we will get something soon though!!!

Hybrids that can never be, but speculation of what could be!

Little side project of "What ifs" persay if Precursors were able to breed with other species within the Destiny universe!

Going with three thus far as I am aware there are more, but to make it easier as these species play a prominent role in my AU as well. The Hive were excluded for the time being but may be added later for a what if.

-The first of the "what if" hybrids are between Lubraeans and Precursors:

Depending on the carrier of the proposed hybrid child, the gender and look will be based entirely on this. A carrier that is Precursor is more likely to bear a masculine/male child. A carrier that is Lubraean is likely to bear a feminine/female child. Attributes of the feathering that is commonly found on male Lubraeans can be found on both "sexes" though masculine children have a higher chance of this. Feminine children will have sparse spotting of feathers. Feminine children also bear a better crest upon their heads while masculine children will bear a feathered crest.

Both "sexes" have an extra set of eyes and longer fangs/tusks. Colorations are dulled but also different from typical Precursors. Precursor nerve markings are still found/seen on the body.

-Second comes to the Eliksni of "what if" hybrid children:

The sexes of the children are not affected by which parent is the carrier as they retain the same looks mixed between said parents. Children have darker but duller skin lined with the Eliksni plating as well as Precursor nerve markings. However, a reverse is played with the skin patterns in which many children will bear a sort of light and dark mixing of markings from their neck to the torso as well as their own tendrils.

The faces is elongated to fit the Eliksni jaw proportions while also retaining some of the Precursor aspects of a closed bottom jaw and a tongue in view. Four large eyes dotted with a bright iris can be seen each eye, while the ears, small in size, sit comfortably at the top of the jaw.

-And lastly comes the Cabal, the last of the "what if" hybrid children:

Like the Lubraeans, the sex of the child is entirely dependent on the carrier and "father/donor" of the pair.

For male Cabal, it is very common for female/feminine children to be born out of the pair. This child can be seen with the larger proportions of what the Cabal are known for while also retaining some of the nimble frame associated to Precursors. The large tusks are the biggest indicators of the child's determined gender.

For female Cabal, masculine/male children are most commonly produced between the pair. The same stocky frame can be found with this child as well as the lack of tusks females are known to carry. Instead, these children bear large fangs that sit comfortably in their mouths. Female/feminine children do not have these fangs, even in an early age while males do.

Both retain the stocky frame/build and dark skin lined with the nerve markings that are commonly found on Precursors. Glowing nerve spikes can be seen dotting these markings as well, a silent signature to showing their emotions in a subtle way before expressing them. Their eyes, while large and dark, retain the most of their Cabal mixing while they sit comfortably between a nose that will aid them in hunting by scent. Their ears are small like the Eliksni but can still be seen regardless. Their tendrils are dark and short.

Again, these are just what if scenarios per say if they should happen in my AU! The only reason these hybrids are not possible is because Precursor DNA is far too different from the DNA of the mentioned species, therefore not compatible to make a viable hybrid. Such hybrids, sadly, are not physically possible to happen x')

I still don't like the Hive design overall (greatly dislike the fact that they look more like human skeletons than bugs, bugs are excellent and deserve more love), but one thing that I AM coming to appreciate about them is their weird flat teeth. It feels eerily right that a race that has decimated countless billions of worlds do not have the fangs of a predator, but the teeth of prey

Okay so we have- *I fall down a comically long flight of stairs with my box of ocs as they go everywhere* Sorry, sorry!

Truth be told, I have a LOT of ocs from all the different species and societies of Destiny as I have been into the game for practically two-thirds of my life, more than I can possibly disclose in just one post (especially because I can talk forever about these things!!)

So, I thought it would be fun if I described my many characters and their stories as silly blog/news titles and opening statements! This is only a small handful of my ocs, but if you guys want more or see one idea you’d like to hear more of, I’ll consider posting additional content of them!
