Destinies’ Keeper Snippet
Okay so I said a few days ago that I’d post this, and here it is! Quick rundown: Destinies’ Keeper is my own personal TMNT iteration. Donnie is the oldest, followed by Leo and Raph (twins), and then Mikey is the youngest.
Warnings: Yelling, implied parentification, Donnie has a flight response to raised voices.
• • • • •
“Donnie?”
Donnie looked up from half-heartedly plucking out the melody to Here Comes the Sun on his guitar, left unplugged so as not to disturb anyone. His gaze landed on Mikey, silhouetted in the doorway. When the curtain swept behind him and Donnie could see him clearly, he noticed how much smaller than usual Mikey looked.
His youngest brother had hunched in on himself, his hands held up by his chest as he fidgeted with his fingers. His head had been ducked from the moment Donnie had looked up, and when baby blue eyes flicked up to meet Donnie’s brown they lasted only a second before looking down again.
Donnie shifted his guitar off his lap and set it next to him on his bed. “Hey, ‘Angelo,” he began, tone gentle and encouraging, “what’s up?”
Mikey glanced up yet again, then back down at the cement floor. “Can we talk?” He asked quietly.
Donnie shifted to make room and patted the spot beside him on the bed.
Mikey shuffled his way over and sat down, fingers closing around the edge of the mattress, still not meeting Donnie’s gaze. After a long moment of silence, he spoke. “I’m sorry,” he said, just as quiet as before. His lower lip trembled and wetness shone in his eyes. “I didn’t mean to get you in trouble. I promise! I’m really, really sorry.” His youngest brother looked as though he expected Donnie to yell, to scold him, to tell him to get out and not come back. “Please don’t hate me.” His voice had dropped to a whisper.
Donnie’s heart panged. Losing his temper with Splinter had ruined everything he’d worked so hard for, hadn’t it?
He set a gentle hand on Mikey’s shell. “Hey, look at me?”
Mikey met Donnie’s gaze, still seeming afraid of what he’d find there.
Donnie thumbed away a tear that had spilled over. “I could never hate you, ‘Angelo. It wasn’t your fault. I shouldn’t have gone in the first place.”
Mikey’s eyes widened. “No! No, Dee, that’s not fair!”
“‘Angelo—“
“If Raph ‘n Leo and I can go out you should be allowed too!”
Donnie frowned and tried again. “Mikey—“
“And Dad shouldn’t have yelled at you and you shouldn’t have had to defend yourself and I shouldn’t have called attention to you being gone and—“
“Michelangelo.” Donnie’s long-since-perfected ‘listen-to-me’ big brother voice. Gentle, but firm.
Mikey’s mouth snapped shut.
Donnie sighed and offered a tired smile. “It’s different for me than it is for you and Raph and Leo. I’m the only one of us who has medical knowledge. I shouldn’t have gone wandering off like that. What if one of you got hurt and I wasn’t here to help?”
“But—“
Donnie held up a hand.
Mikey obediently quieted down.
He must really feel bad if he’s listening this well. “Dad was right. I acted irresponsibly, and arguing with him was wrong. You didn’t do anything wrong by asking where I went, and I’m not mad at you.”
Mikey frowned. “That’s not fair,” he repeated.
Donnie shrugged. “Maybe. But on the other hand, I have the coolest little brothers in the world. Why would I risk that just to go for a walk?”
Mikey’s frown deepened. “You weren’t risking us. Da was here and can do all the medical stuff you do.”
“Dad’s busy, Mikey,” Donnie deflected calmly. “He can’t do everything.”
“Neither can you,” Mikey countered.
This is going nowhere.
“Mikey, listen. It’s my job as the oldest to look out for you guys, and I forsook that job today just because I wanted to go for a walk. That’s not okay.”
“How come Leo gets to go for walks? It’s his job as the leader to look out for us too!”
“That’s different. Leo isn’t the oldest.”
“Nuh-uh! Da made Leo responsible for us when he made him leader!”
“In the field. Leo is responsible for you in the field. Here, I’m responsible for all of you.”
“No you aren’t!” Mikey snapped, voice rising to a shout.
Donnie flinched. Just a small one, barely noticeable. All in all he hid it very well.
At once, the anger in Mikey’s eyes faded. “Sorry, Dee,” he said quietly, reaching out to take Donnie’s hand in his. “I didn’t mean to yell.”
“It’s fine.”
Mikey frowned, his ‘we are so talking about this later’ frown, but didn’t argue.
Donnie privately hoped Mikey would forget before later came. His flight response to being yelled at was his to deal with and his alone.
“Dee.”
Donnie snapped back to the present.
Mikey squeezed his hand gently. His gaze was serious as he looked into Donnie’s eyes. More serious than it should ever be. Mikey shouldn’t need to be serious.
Just another thing Donnie had failed at today.
“I don’t know what book I have to get Raph to slam your head into in order for you to understand this, but I’m not afraid to start guessing. So maybe listen so I don’t have to do that, yeah?” Mikey’s lighthearted tone didn’t reach his expression.
Donnie inclined his head to indicate he was listening.
Mikey squeezed his hand again. “You aren’t Da.”
Donnie blinked. “Of course not.”
“No, Dee, listen to me.”
Mikey grabbed Donnie’s other hand. His stare seemed so intense Donnie wondered if Mikey half-hoped to intimidate him into accepting whatever he said next.
“You. Aren’t. Dad.”
“Mikey—“
“I’m not done.” Mikey’s tone was firm even as his voice remained a normal speaking volume.
Donnie closed his mouth. Interrupting was rude. He hated it when his siblings interrupted him.
“Dad is responsible for us when we’re in the lair. Not you. You aren’t Dad, you’re our big brother. And I hate to break it to you, but you’re never gonna be Dad. You’re Dee-Dee.” A pause. Mikey glanced away and his volume dropped as he let go of Donnie’s hands. “I don’t want another Da. I want my Dee-Dee back.”
A confusing mess of feelings slammed into Donnie, all tangled and indiscernible. He couldn’t put a name to any of them, wasn’t even sure he could describe them. The only thing he knew was that his littlest brother needed a hug.
“Mikey?” He said softly.
Mikey turned to look at him.
Donnie held his arms out.
Mikey wasted no time launching himself at Donnie, who just barely had time to brace himself.
“Oof,” he wheezed as Mikey slammed into him. His arms closed loosely around the box turtle, waiting for Mikey’s shifting to stop.
After a moment Mikey had situated himself partially in Donnie’s lap, head tucked under Donnie’s chin, snout buried into Donnie’s neck just above his plastron, arms looped around his shoulders.
Donnie couldn’t suppress an affectionate snort. “Comfortable?” He asked, raising an eyebrow even though Mikey couldn’t see.
“Mhm!” Already Mikey sounded better, even if his hummed response was muffled.
Another amused huff, and Donnie tightened his arms around Mikey, holding him close.
How long had it been since he’d last hugged Mikey like this? The most recent time coming to mind had been a month ago. Surely it couldn’t have been that long?
Mikey turned his head to press the side of it where his snout had been seconds prior, and his arms slipped underneath Donnie’s to wrap around the soft-shell’s middle. “Dee-Dee?”
“Yeah ‘Angelo?”
“Was your walk good?”
Donnie fell silent. He knew what Mikey meant. Had he enjoyed his walk? Was it good for him? Did he wish he could do it again?
The answer was yes. It should be no. Did he lie and say no so Mikey would drop the subject? Or did he tell the truth and face Mikey’s badgering about taking time to go for a walk more often?
Mikey poked him in the side. “You’re doing the spinning-wheel-of-death thing.”
Donnie sighed. Held Mikey a little tighter. “Yeah,” he answered at last. “It was good. I went to see April.”
“What’d you do?”
“I helped her with homework for an hour. She had early dinner because she has a volleyball game tonight, so I couldn’t stay any longer.”
“But you were out for two hours and April’s house is only fifteen minutes away. What’d you do the other thirty minutes?”
Another pause. “I watched the sunset. I hadn’t seen one in so long… and the roof was warm. I like being warm.”
“That sounds nice.”
“Yeah.” Donnie chuckled half-heartedly. “It was.”
Mikey squeezed Donnie a little tighter. When he spoke again his voice was quieter. “Can I come with you next time?”
Donnie didn’t bother reminding Mikey there wouldn’t be a next time. “I’d like that.”

Angst mode time. Still not ever getting over how Eight never fully recovered from Imperial Intelligence's fall, and the short reunion in SoR with Keeper did nothing to alleviate that-- it made it worse. What conversation they had was awkward and stilted, and Eight had meekly resigned to the fact that Keeper did not value him as a person, despite this not being the least bit true from Keeper's side. But as you know, the mission came first. Shara came first. Once again, Eight set aside his own feelings and dwindling personhood to serve as a spy who now had no place beside the man he would've moved mountains just to be seen by, and for that, he only fell deeper into losing sight of who he was. For what little remained of Intelligence, Eight had died with its dissolution. No closure was afforded, only a painful silence and unsaid breadth between two men who could not bear to broach years of loyalty, who had deeply hurt one another and not even known the depths of the inflicted wounds.
Keeper left the way he came.
Then came the Eternal Empire. Five years meant nothing to Eight; it was a life he would not have lived regardless. Lana thought she saved him from the carbonite, but at most it was exhuming a corpse. Pulling him back from the dead to ask him one more time to bloody those hands. And Eight, loyal Eight, did his duty, neither differentiating friend nor foe in a galaxy that had abandoned him.

Suzette LaSouris, daughter of the Mouse King (or... so she claims,) and rival to Polly Larkrising, the next Nutcracker soldier. Suzette looks forward to the legendary battle in their story, but Polly certainly does not.
Snidely sweet and polite to the point of sarcasm, Suzette is popular among her class of villains, a promising up-and-coming antagonist. She has a few magical tricks up her sleeve, always - including transforming into a small albino mouse to creep around the school and spy on fellow students... when she's not chased off by another, particularly fierce, big brown mouse who comes across her from time to time.
Polly barely tolerates their rivalry, but Suzette takes great joy in antagonizing her and any other Rebel unfortunate enough to come across her. Suzette is best friends with Faybelle and always down to make trouble, especially alongside the Evil Queen during Dragon Games, which is the point where Polly has had enough - because the truth is, Suzette is not the daughter of the Mouse King at all. She's only a pretender grasping for a powerful destiny.

Quan Chi's bio states he was basically born to be a slave in the mines. With Shang it's at least debatable whether he 'chose' to be poor of it he was just unlucky but I don't think Quan Chi chose to be enslaved since he was a child and mined minerals for OutWorld's government.
This seems awfully deliberate, like how Liu Kang had a hand in Smoke's family dying as a way for him to join the Lin Kuei. Like Liu Kang gave Mileena the life most iterations would kill for and whilst he did cripple Shao, Shao got the better deal compared to Quan and Shang.
I don't think there's a really good way to justify that one. It feels like Liu is punishing an incarnation of Quan Chi for something he didn't even do. Unless someone wants to make the assumption that Quan Chi was born evil...which doesn't make any sense since we literally see a good version of him and Shang fighting against Titan Shang Tsung.
Even if he was born evil, erasing him probably would've been preferable than subjecting him to slavery given how slaves are treated.
Last time I checked mortalkombat.com there was no official BIO for Quan Chi so I can’t address something I did not read yet by myself - not that I don’t believe your word, I just like be familiar with officially released source material and context before I start throwing the stones at any characters, especially since MK1 already proved with Shang Tsung that BIO, story mode and intros may approach differently character’s origin.
That said, I don’t have a doubt that Liu Kang is biased when it comes to certain people as it is visible in story mode alone how he interacts with the Royal Family or his Champions he considered his friends and for example Lin Kuei serving him and Earthrealm from centuries. He on purpose get involved with characters lives, be it choosing Johnny, Kenshi, Kung Lao and Raiden for Earthrealm’s Champions or deciding that Shang Tsung and Quan Chi won’t get a chance to obtain any power (magic) however the same story mode proved that Liu Kang’s plans could be - and in fact were - foiled by actions of others. Shang Tsung and Quan Chi learned magic due to Titan Shang Tsung’s scheming, Kenshi lost his eyesight again, despite Liu Kang’s hope for different means for his bonding with Sento
Tumblr media
so it is not like every character’s life is set in stone and the once made Keeper of Time’s decisions won’t change due to outside forces.
My main problem with accusation that Liu Kang intended Quan Chi to be born in slavery or Shang Tsung in poverty is the implication he intended slavery and poverty to be part of his new era in the first place - and with that he chose to doom billions beings to unimaginable hardship solely to punish two people he personally dislike for things done in previous timeline steered by Titan Kronika who cared only for balance between good and bad, not for the living beings who were her own creations.
Because Shang Tsung is not the only character we could see living in miserable conditions, as the Edenians infected with Tarkat sickness lived in literal poverty, banished and shunned by society, with little food or basic goods to survive on their own. Quan Chi may be a slave working in mines, but we have the whole Umgadi system that literally takes away freedom from the first-born daughters of edenian families, who from childhood are trained and indoctrinated to put Royal Family’s best interest before anyone and anything, because apparently the monarch is more important that the lives of common people.
If we agree that Liu Kang in fact decided to include slavery and poverty in his new timeline just to punish two people, following that logic we should also assume that by making Johnny the USA’s famous movie star (with all the references to Hollywood and pop culture we know from previous timelines and our own word), he also allowed history to repeat itself with the European colonization of Americas and coming with it irreversible destruction of native cultures followed by unjust and cruel treatment of the indigenous population and ever further consequence: the Atlantic slave trade and the racial segregation that was part of America’s history preceding the official independence of USA (and racism being part of its history for another ages). All just to put Johnny in comfortable life as close to what his friend had in previous timeline.
What frankly, does not sit well with me knowing what kind of person Liu Kang was once and is currently as Earthrealm Protector. He was not a flawless human and definitely he is not the flawless and all-knowing god now - he doesn’t pretend to be one either. And sure, some of his decisions led to bigger tragedies but the fact he stepped down from Keeper of Time’s position to be just a mere Earthrealm’s deity implies he truly wished to allow people make their own choices. Because as Keeper of Time he could manipulate time and events to his own liking at any given time, but as a mere deity he is forced to play alongside the unfolding events and mortals choices - he may guide people, he may punish those disturbing the established peace, but he does not fulfill characters’ wishes or demand to erase the problems of their world because he did not give himself such power, as intro dialogues suggest is the case:
Li Mei: Why permit crime to fester in this timeline? Geras: It was beyond Liu Kang's power to prevent it.
or
Liu Kang: It is beyond my power to prevent all injustice. Li Mei: Then it shall always fester.
or
Scorpion: As Time’s Keeper, you could have abolished kombat. Liu Kang: Even a Titan’s power has limits.
or
Kenshi: With Liu Kang's help, maybe they'll find a cure. Baraka: If he could've helped, he would have done so by now.
or
Baraka: If you're a god, then cure me. Liu Kang: I did not give myself that power.
or
Baraka: Tarkat is a cruel fate, Geras. Geras: As Liu Kang has told you, we cannot cure it.
My point is: when a god gives mortals a free will then he must also accept that people will choose the wrong, even outright evil things. Not because anyone is born inherently good or bad, but because things like greed, pettines, fear, curiosity, ignorance or love exist and emotions are as strong an impulse, if not stronger, as is common sense.
As much as I would really like if Liu Kang gave everyone the same, fair chance for a good life, I think we need to take into account that each character's life does not exist in a vacuum and was preceded by hundreds of lives and choices of other people that lead to this point in time. Choices that could get in the Keeper of Time’s way and push events in different paths that he intended. Like Smoke’s family - did he truly decide to kill them to get Tomas into Lin Kuei as the best way of action or did the Lin Kuei warriors, who found outsiders on the protected by them territory, acted too aggressively on their own and their choices lead to unplanned tragedy? Or Shao’s sickness - was it Liu Kang’s choice to prevent the possibility he will raise one day against Sindel but the plan was foiled by one stubborn father who wouldn’t accept his child’s sickness as it was or the iron discipline of father was a part of the plan from the start? My point is, it is hard to tell where Keeper of Time’s will ends and where start the will of mortals that make each day their own choices, for good or bad.
Sindel is the best example, as Liu Kang intended her to rule Edenia as a firm yet fair queen and for all we know she indeed is one compared to the previous rulers. Yet what we learn from story mode and intro dialogues put a great shadow of doubt on whether she was truly so great Queen, if the sick Edenians are banished and forced to live in poverty, as their assets were taken according to Sindel's own edict, and in general treated like unwanted trashes. Not only that - Li Mei's intro dialogues says that Outworld has organized crime and Sun Do's beauty hides its darker side as it is far from the peaceful city Earthrealms think it is. Since people often are pushed into crimes by the bad circumstances (poverty, seeking refuge from persecutors) rather than inherent evil, should we accuse Liu Kang he planned such misery for those mortals or we accept that Sindel - generally seen as a good person, even admired by vast number of characters, including Liu Kang himself - made a choices that in fact have endangered or literally destroyed hundreds of innocent lives for ages? The Royal Family got rich off the harm of others, its power was secured by people deprived of their own civil freedom (Umgadi, the Palace Guard). Who should we blame for that? Liu Kang who destined Sindel to be Queen or Sindel herself, who had a power and free will to decide?
Like I said, no one lives in a vacuum and there were countless numbers of mortals before our main heroes were even born. Kenshi is dealing with his ancestors’ desperate choice to join Yakuza for protection and born out of it shame and crimes; their choices affect who he is and what drives him. Bi-Han is affected by his father’s decision and decisions of Lin Kuei Grandmasters before him that shaped reality in which Bi-Han lives now and considers an enslavement, because someone in the centuries old past chose to pledge their clan to serve Earthrealm and by extension, Fire Lord. Did Liu Kang intend such a turn of events or is it an effect of countless choices made by mortals preceding Bi-Han and Kenshi existence?
And so we come back to Quan Chi and the question, did Liu Kang decide to introduce slavery to his new timeline solely so Quan Chi could end in one or did mortals (Edenian aristocracy/government) at some point make the choice to enslave other living beings, including Quan Chi’s family, for their own gain? Because for Quan Chi to be born in slavery it means:
his parents or at least mother - and that alone may implies Quan Chi's being a result or rape - would need be a slave in the first place and
mother was punished for her son’s crimes he did not commit - and if Liu Kang’s plan had succeeded, he would never have committed either.
We can go on with questions like that but I think it comes down to this one matter: do we believe that Liu Kang would intentionally damn a billions of innocents to either punish Shang Tsung and Quan Chi or secure the well-being of his favorites like Royal Family and Johnny or not.
The game and intro dialogues won't give us a definite answer to that and each of us will need to settle this dilemma for themselves. I myself still debate whether to believe or not that Liu Kang sat down eons ago and wrote out how numberless generations will live so a few certain characters end in miserable (Shang Tsung & Quan Chi) or happy setting (Sindel). I do however believe that within Liu Kang's timeline, the Keeper of Time's choices shaping people's destiny and free will of characters can and are co-existing. I won't cross out yet the possibility that Liu Kang indeed decided to include slavery just to fuck up Shang Tsung and Quan Chi's lives - and I won't do it at least until I read the new source material.  However, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that slavery and poverty are the outcome of bad choices made by mortals living before the heroes and villains were born.
Of course, this is still not the best scenario and there is no denying Liu Kang wanted a meaningless life for both sorcerers and that he did interfere with events and destinies of mortals. But if he set all life in motion and then immediately step down from Keeper of Time’s position, we need take into account that A) he gave up control over people voluntarily and B) he did it eons before Shang Tsung or Quan Chi - and their families - came to alive and for such a long period of time, many bad things could have happened without his participation or ill will (is Tarkat even part of Liu Kang’s plan or did it happen spontaneously, as a result of the actions of unforeseen forces? As the “forces of nature” balancing things out?). The characters already asked Liu Kang why he did not prevent injustice, why he did not abolish violence, why he did not cure the horrific illness, why he did not make his timeline the better place… but I think to do so he would need to take away the free will, so no mortal could commit a crime again or go against his plan. Which is the total opposition of what he wanted and Liu Kang is aware his world did not improved as he hoped:
Liu Kang: This timeline has not improved as I had hoped. Geras: Thoughts like that led to Kronika’s madness.
But I guess that is the problem with free will, it allows bad things to happen. There is no win-win scenario and someone will always be harmed - if not by their own choice, then by someone else's, because people do not live in a vacuum.
So, unless Quan Chi’s Bio (that I still didn’t see for myself) outright says Liu Kang decided to made his former enemy born as a slave, I’m willing to give Liu Kang the benefit of doubt that slavery and poverty weren’t on purpose added to his new era just to fuck up two people he didn’t like - even if his dislike is well-understandly considering everything that happened.
It is easy to look at MK1’s story mode and blame Liu Kang for the characters' background but that is looking at this specific point of time the way we look at NRS and blame them for messing up our favorite heroes for drama’s sake alone. In-universe though? There are plenty of factors outside Liu Kang’s control that shaped the world before any of them came into picture. Like I said, it may not be so easy to determine how much for things to be the way they are now is the fault of god and how much of mortals alone.
Also, in regard to why not just erase them from the timeline, I too myself wondered about that. Or why not make them born in Earthrealm, whereas as mere humans they would pose a threat for a 100, maybe 120 years at best and then be safely tucked in the afterlife. Or why let them both live at the same time and not separate them by ages. My working conclusion for now is that erasing people is not such an easy matter, as people - their histories and relationships - are too well connected threads on time fabric. MK11’s Jacqui ending showed that changing one thing may lead to much more serious consequences. She wanted to spare her father from death at Sindel’s hand and following it the life of revenant. But when she removed that event from his history, in result she erased her own existence, as Jax did not meet Jacqui's mom and thus Jacqui wasn't born. Original Shang Tsung and Quan Chi brought more pain and despair to people than anything else, but since we don’t have an idea how time fabric works or how much it is influenced by the countless erased timelines, maybe Liu Kang couldn’t erase them without erasing more innocent and/or important people? Just a thought to think about.

game concept art 2023 - EARTHSHINE - part 1 - characters
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is part 1 of my campaign design project from my concept art course last year, called EARTHSHINE!
I designed all these concepts for a top down space fantasy alien RPG called EARTHSHINE, inspired by Undertale, Deltarune, and Omori. The aesthetics were based on sci fi and retro futurism, pop art, black light photos and arcades, and a spacey aesthetic in the vein of Super Mario Galaxy and Slime Rancher.
In a reverse Solar System populated with aliens, many are racing to claim the empty planet, Earth. But no one seems to be consulting its moon, Luna, who's people adore it as part of their culture.
Dawa, an alien from Luna, is on a quest to claim Earth for their home, meeting new companions Ferni from Mars and Destiny from Mercury along the way.

More info about the characters under the cut!! vv
PLAYER CHARACTERS
DAWA - Dawa is a humble farmer living their life with their mother on her lunar grape farm. They're quiet and have a tendency to throw themself into work and hobbies. Because of this they come off as anti-social. Dawa can be blunt and snarky, but they just say what's on their mind and will act on an idea if they're certain of their goal. It’s why they left home to confront the leaders about the planet they orbit, as they feel their home and the locals should also have a say in claiming it. Dawa is an ambush and heavy hitter, using their strong legs and quick movements to immobilise their enemies.
FERNI - Ferni is the owner of the Aresi Cosmic Curio Shop. She's taken up the role of a historian, and her first job is to learn about Earth from the locals on moons and Mars. Ferni is a fountain of energy and incredibly sweet, but she can be an overwhelming presence. It only takes someone slightly mentioning anything Earth related for her to go into a full information dump. Upon hearing about Dawa's quest, she immediately tags along, eager to learn about the Earth's history. She's a little too excited to fight battles, but at least she has the spirit and the heart! She’s good at targeting faraway targets, and earned the role of wild card.
DESTINY - Destiny is currently one of the only small spaceship drivers on Mercury aboard the Wings of Felestian Spaceship. Destiny takes on an older guide role for the team. She's highly sociable due to the nature of her job, but is very comfortable hanging back in the ship alone. She's resourceful and has a habit of proposing new ideas and upgrades for the ship. She plays support over communications for the team, offering advice and updates when she can. Generally a charming, reliable presence.
NPCS
LEADER ACACIA - Leader Acacia, or just Acacia, is the Leader of the Jovian Colonies, a proud and stubborn alien with a penchant for snapping at others. Despite the slightly arrogant demeanour, they are under a lot of stress due to the arguments they have been having with the Captain of Neptune about Earth. Other Aliens have unfairly painted them as cocky, while Jovians mainly see them as just a stressed, if not a little goofy leader, who enjoys a cup of tea in their spare time.
CAPTAIN BERA - Bera, or Captain Bera, has certainly made a name for herself among the solar system. She commands the raging Seas of Neptune aboard her submarine. One thing that makes her a fierce leader, is her competitiveness, which drives the other planets' leaders insane in her sheer confidence over her right to claim Earth. Bera's actions are as bold as her thoughts, yet despite her reputation, she seems to be well respected by the people and her crew.
KEEPER PLASMA - Keeper Plasma is notoriously mysterious. They were a respected figure amongst the Solar System, but nowadays very few know of them. Those who do engage describe a rather bitter and reclusive person. Plasma has been asked what their opinions are on the Earth space race, and it's always been the same answer, "Petty squabbles are none of my business.". They're a keeper of knowledge and history for the Solar System, so there could be information not even the great leaders know of.

O Soldier Mine
Young Wolf snarled as he swung his sword against the training dummy. Anger and frustration bubbled beneath his plating as the dummy fell to the snow, burning at the edges from the Solar embedded in the sword. The Hunter swung the blade once more to cut the rest of the dummy’s base down, shoulders rising and falling with his artificial breathing.
“Your rage makes you oblivious to your surroundings.”
Young Wolf snorted, saying nothing as he turned his helmeted gaze to look at Lord Felwinter who stood in the doorway of the training grounds. The Iron Lord was still, staring him down through the ram-like helmet he wore, the soft sound of the taller Exo’s vents opening and closing being the only indication that the man was alive and not a statue. So much different than his student, Osiris. The warlock had told him nothing of what Felwinter was like besides a short few descriptions. The man was… different than Young Wolf had expected.
“You haven’t seen my rage. You’ve seen my frustration and some mild anger,” Young Wolf signed with one hand, slipping his sword back into place on his back.
“Mmm. It still distracts you,” Felwinter hummed as he stepped forward, arms crossed behind him, helmet tilted in observation.
“…….What do you want,” Young Wolf sighed and he signed his next question, turning to face the Iron Lord, very aware of the type of threat the man represented.
“A proposition for you. I’ll spar you, and if you win, we will leave you to your exile in this castle. If I win… you’ll come with us to learn,” Felwinter offered easily, stretching out his hands in a small gesture.
“And a draw,” Young Wolf asked, shifting on his feet, because he had an idea of how the fight would go just based on what he had been told by Osiris and Lord Saladin.
“I suppose we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it,” Felwinter answered with a very light touch of amusement on his time, a sound that was barely there but just detectable.
Young Wolf was silent. He knew it was selfish to want to ask for a single year of peace before he got to saving the system again, but a part of him desired to be selfish for just once. He didn’t want to be a soldier for someone else’s cause any longer. If beating Felwinter would grant him solace for just a bit longer then fine. He’d beat the man and move on.
“Challenge accepted, Iron Lord Felwinter,” Young Wolf said softly, voice modulator crackling static as he used his voice for the first time since making a Wish with Riven.
If Felwinter was surprised, he didn’t show it, and Young Wolf was grateful for it. The Dark Age was weird about Exo Lightbearers for some reason. For Felwinter, Young Wolf may have been his first encounter with another Risen Exo.
“Then I’ll see you at dawn in the field, Warlord,” Felwinter dipped his head in acceptance, seeming just a bit pleased.
“Guardian. Not Warlord. Never Warlord,” Young Wolf replied viper quick, causing the warlock to pause before nodding and taking his leave.
Young Wolf watched him go and sighed softly. Just a single win and he could take a break from everything. Just for a little while. It would be enough.

Sorry I couldn’t do my homework professor, I was languishing under the crushing weight of knowing that Destiny is burdened with the knowledge of everything that will happen until the end of Time, every decision, every birth, every death, and yet he cannot do anything to change it; he must wait and watch and live in the sweet agony of his own wretched foretelling coming to fruition

SPECIAL HEADCANON I’VE BEEN WORKING ON which i may or may not write a future drabble about, but for now, just a simple post will do since i’ve been developing these with some dear writing partners of mine. to put it simply, since i’ll also be integrating this from hereon, my aether has a lowkey god complex when it comes to his (im)mortality.
as i’ve stated in a lot of other headcanon posts, he isn’t human; he’s a star-forged deity, a caeling. this means that his species is meant to live for billions of years, just like real stars would. he and lumine are quite young in comparison to other caelings, being around three thousand years old each. they are (or, well, were) known to be all-powerful, controlling cosmic elements and what have you, loved and respected by the astros above in the sea of stars, the prime of fighters and universe’s willmakers. therefore, having battle scratches or getting hurt was a luxury they’d experience once in a thousand years.
ever since falling in teyvat, aether lost his wings, his divinity, his strength, his ability to communicate with the stars, as well as his connection with lumine—he knows all of that, and he grieves deeply, for he feels those losses in his very core. but he doesn’t realise that, since he’s bound in teyvat by its laws and concepts, his very being bends to them. he’s stronger than most, sure, but that doesn’t mean he’s much more resistant than a regular vision holder human. and he refuses to see that (perhaps because he doesn’t sense it immediately). he bleeds a black, thick type of blood—yet because he has never been injured that badly before, it’s unconceivable to him to even consider that that blood on his hands is his. death doesn’t come easily as a concept to him either—others can die, it’s life’s natural cycle for humans and mortals alike, but him and lumine? no. that can’t be… right? so even if his vision is blurry and he’s dizzy, feeling his energy wearing out, he won’t ever think that there’s any actual danger to himself. he’s a warrior. he was designed for this. to fight, to protect, to serve. he can’t lose this, too.

Destinies’ Keeper - Misc. Details
okay so basically this is my own personal TMNT iteration. It’s not quite developed enough to share the main storyline yet, but here are some details that I’m really fond of.
• Donnie is the eldest sibling at 16, followed by the twins Leo and Raph at 15, and then Mikey at 14. Leo is the older twin.
• The twins share one really big room. It’s split in half with “neutral territory” in the middle. They both like it this way and would be upset if the other moved into his own room.
• Donnie is a soft-shell turtle because I love soft-shell Donnie. Leo is still a red-eared slider, and Mikey is a box turtle. Raph will probably also be a box turtle. This said, Donnie typically does not wear a battle shell. He has one, but only uses it for sparring, which he doesn’t do very much of, or roof-top outings. He has a long scar across his soft-shell from a sparring accident before the battle shell.
• Donnie is the tallest, followed by Leo, Mikey, and then Raph. (He’s only an inch shorter than Mikey but it gets on his nerves.) (Donnie on the other hand appreciates being decently taller than his brothers for the ability to pick them all up)
• How they sleep: Donnie - Curled up in a little ball around a stuffed animal. (Got so used to having little brothers in his bed after nightmares that now he can’t sleep without *something* to hold on to) Leo - On his stomach with his arms under his pillow. Legs vary, but usually they’re starfished out behind him. Raph - Sleeps on his side, one arm under his pillow, legs slightly bent. Usually faces into the room so he can keep tabs on Leo and watch the door. Mikey - On his back in full starfish mode, but he tends to move around and consistently will wake up having knocked his blanket off the bed.
• Music Taste: Donnie - 70s music. Disco, pop, classic rock, etc. He loves it all. Leo - Doesn’t have a lot of time to listen to music, but he’s found himself enjoying Frank Sinatra. Raph - Listen. He just gives me such strong (clean) country rock vibes, okay?? So his main is country rock but he also indulges in a bit of Whitney Houston here and there. Mikey - Musicals! Modern musicals, old musicals, Disney musicals, it doesn’t matter to him.
• Leo and Raph had a Lord of the Rings phase
• All four turtles had a “The A-Team” phase. Little Leo insisted on assigning them all a character. Donnie was Hannibal, Leo was Face, Raph was B.A. and Mikey was Murdock. Splinter got the boys all a poster of their own character, and each turtle has his poster hanging up somewhere in his room.
• Leo has been in his Star Trek phase for seven years and it doesn’t look like it’s going away anytime soon.
• Raph was the first of the boys to pick up skateboarding and taught the others. Leo and Mikey picked it up next. Donnie picked it up last on account of being a spotter for Mikey and Leo.

Due to enabling from the goat L ( @thcsevoices ) Ishizu Ishtar from Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters has been added as a somewhat active muse! She is a canon compliment, and headcanon expanded, and like my other DM muses, has verses for the anime and manga as well!
Tumblr media
Priestess Isis, Ishizu's ancestor, is also available to interact with as a bonus (but is not added as a formal separate muse due to how linked she is with Ishizu / how similar they are in personality)

Getting an opinion on a thought I have for my own Zelda-verse, what if the blood of the goddess isn’t just restricted to the royal family? Obviously in a literal sense, there are more descendants of the goddess than just the royal family, heck technically with your OoT headcanon Iliana is a descendant of the goddess. What if these descendants could be used as “backups” in the event the current Zelda failed? That’s at least how I’m rolling with my OC, a descendant of the goddess (and Twilight) who develops some of the mystical powers associated with it. It’s a whole character arc especially when Zelda is freed and learns that her sacred power isn’t so exclusive. It’s still very rough around the edges, but I just like the idea of that power not just being restricted to the royal family. The curse of Demise did specify the “blood of the goddess”, not “royalty that possess the blood of the goddess”
I mean, if what I know of Wind Waker is correct then Zelda was actually a pirate named Tetra and not royalty until it was later revealed she was the goddess’ descendant and thus was then named Zelda and forced into the royal seat. So. Your theory works.
Also I do love the back up plan thing.
I sort of headcanonned that Zelda has access to the powers because she was named Zelda. Say there was more than one princess. Both are descendants, but only one really has “access” the powers of the goddess. That one is named Zelda. But if something happened to Zelda, the second sister would find her powers her growing stronger and would then become the new Zelda. The second sister probably already had an affinity for light magic, but after she becomes the new Zelda her power grows considerably.
And yup! You’re right. Iliandra/Iliana is Zelda’s very distant cousin (?) lol. Which would explain some of why Hylia is… guiding… her. Outside of just being the descendant of the Hero of Time, she’s also the backup if something happens to Zelda.
Which nothing SHOULD unless Tears of the Kingdom goes horrible horribly wrong, lol.
