It was far from the first time Sam had asked Dean to accompany him to an auction, but certainly the first one where he had ever purchased a piece of art. Still, he would never have expected that it would start to talk to him, or that this would change his life forever during Christmas time.

Day three of the Advent calendar! Using this list. Day 3: Beach Trip Fandom: Supernatural - Pairing: Destiel .6k[Ao3]

“Does this suck?” Dean asked, carefully holding his arms away from his body. “I feel like this sucks.”

Cas hummed, doing his best to wipe the sand off of Dean with a towel.

“Couple of beers, toes in the sand. Sounded great! And the toes in the sand is good but then it gets everywhere.”

“We could always get back in the water,”Cas suggested.

Deans snorted. “Easy for you to say, sun spot. My shoulders are already blistering. How was I supposed to knowI’d burn?”

“I would guess your freckles should have been some clue as to how your fair skin is susceptible to pigmentation.”

Dean grumbled again.

Cas stood up, draping the sandy towel around his neck, and pulled Dean into a kiss. Dean melted immediately, his hands coming up to grip at Cas’s hips, his fingers meeting the tacky sunscreen against Cas’s bare skin.

He whined, pulling away. “Why didn’t anyone tell me the beach was gross?”

“I’m not sure what about the beach is grosser than the normal human experience,” Cas offers, fairly, his thumbs brushing over Dean’s ribs. “But I imagine that everyone else was just happy to see you excited about something.”

Dean pouted, dropping his head against Cas’s shoulder. Cas hummed, bringing one of his hands up to cradle the back of Dean’s head.

It was the first time they’d made it to the beach after everything. First there was Cas being dead and then making Cas not dead, and figuring their shit out – both trauma shit and relationship shit – and then deciding what came next.

Was Dean going to leave hunting? Yes. (Mostly.)

Was Cas human now? Yes. (Mostly.)

Were they moving out? Was Dean going to live somewhere full time without Sam for the first time in his life? Yes. Definitely.

So they bought a house. They got married in the most official way they could in front of all of their family and friends. They started a life.

And they went on vacation to the beach: something Dean had been dreaming about his whole life.

And it sucked.

“I’ve sat in Baby covered in monster guts for a full fourteen hours and been more comfortable than this.” Dean complained, mouth brushing Cas’s coconut smelling skin.

Cas hummed again, kissing his hair. “We could always go home, Dean. Or we could see about renting a boat. Get the sea without the sand.”

“Still have the stupid sunscreen, though.” Dean sighed. “I’m hot. And it’s sticky. And my skin fucking hurts. And my beer tastes like salt.”

Cas rubbed his stubbly chin against Dean’s temple, squeezing him a bit more around the middle. “Dean, I think it might be time to accept that you are a creature of comfort habits who does not like the outside.”

“You calling me a bitch?”

“If you’re asking if I think you’re tough enough to deal with things that are unpleasant, I would say of course you are, you’ve been dealing with unpleasantness your entire life. But this is supposed to be a vacation. We’re supposed to be enjoying ourselves. Are you happy, Dean?”

“Here with you? Always, babe.”

Cas huffed his quiet laugh, rubbing his broad hand over Dean’s back. “Yes, you’re very sweet. But would you be happier with me on a couch watching a movie?”

Dean made a sound in his throat. “Can we order sandwiches?”

“We can order whatever you want.”

Dean sighed, pulling away.

“Yeah, okay. We can stay at the B&B, though. I don’t want to drive back until I’ve tried every all you can eat crab place on the strip.”

“Deal.” Cas smiled. “And when Sam and Jody ask about our trip at Christmas, I’ll tell them you were very tough and slept in the sand for days.”

Dean grinned, pulling Cas in for one more kiss. “I love you.”

“I love you too. But you’re carrying the cooler: you said it would be lighter when we carried it back but you’ve only drunk two beers so it is not.”

For The Devil & The Chariot, by n_nami and phoenix_ascended. An amazing soulmates AU with every chapter inspired by a tarot card. My fanart is inspired by one of the last chapters, The Sun!

This piece is part of a personal challenge: an advent calendar that will feature one fanart a day for some of my favorite fics, from the 1st of December to the 24th. As it's Sunday, this one was a much more complicated design than the two first ones, but I'll go back to simpler drawings tomorrow!

Logically, Dean knew that the painting had not saved his life. It was idiotic to think that it had somehow thrown itself down just so he wouldn’t touch the saw at that moment. But somehow, he couldn’t help but feel that this was exactly what had happened.

He didn’t tell anyone, of course – well, apart from the thing with the ceiling, which he came to regret when the next day, Crowley showed up with a workman, had him fix it, check the entire rest of Dean’s roof and refused to even tell him how much this had cost because he had decided Dean was not to pay a penny.

It was one of those spontaneous acts of generosity that Crowley, when thanked or even just spoken to about them, always denied, claiming he was a heartless bastard, despite everyone who had ever grown close to him knowing better. And Dean, from experience, knew something else – he would never find out how much he had paid, and Crowley would consider it an insult if he tried. So he resigned himself to his repaired roof but swore that on his next birthday, Crowley would get a wonderfully crafted present that he could not refuse.

At least this meant that his workshop could go back to normal right away, and it also led to Dean hanging up the painting again, at the same spot, but being very careful about it. Despite the part of him that continued to insist it would have fallen regardless just to help him, his rational thoughts reminded him that he should take better care lest it got harmed if it fell again.

All in all, whether his crazy theory was true – which it wasn’t, he reminded himself – Dean was most definitely grateful that he had purchased the painting now. He wouldn’t have liked to imagine what could have happened, or who would have found him – Sammy was known to drop by in the evening, or what if it had been Crowley or Charlie or Benny or Aaron or –

It was most definitely not fun to imagine, so he rather decided to think about something else.

After all, it was time to prepare for his small stand at the Christmas market. He’d been unsure if he even wanted to try a couple of years back, but Sam had been adamant, and he’d been right – the small trinkets and toys he made throughout the year when business was slow or he was bored had proven to be some of his best-selling products, and he had come to enjoy working the stand very much. It was something different to do than stand in his workshop all day which, much as he loved it, could grow a little monotonous, and it got him into contact with people – for example he’d met Aaron because he’d been looking for Christmas presents that weren’t too overtly Christian due to his own faith.

And so, he began making his inventory and a list of things he’d need, whistling to himself as he did so. He really did love Christmas, even if the holidays hadn’t been too much fun back when they were kids, despite his best efforts. Nowadays though, they always made sure to celebrate with as many of their friends as they could.

He glanced at the painting from time to time; he couldn’t help it. Ever since the incident, he’d begun wondering if the man had just sprung from some artist’s imagination or if there had been a model, and if so, what he’d been like. There had been little to no information the auction house could give them, which Sam had disputed because provenience was important (again showing off that art course) but Dean had simply been so happy that he had managed to get the painting that he had not cared at that moment. Now, though, it was another story entirely…

Not that there was a reason for it, he reminded himself. It had been a freak coincidence, he had gotten lucky, the big guy up in the sky had decided he got to live another day. Nothing more to it.

If only he could have made himself believe that.

Anyway, the painting was back to where it belonged, he was getting ready for Christmas time, and he hadn’t electrocuted himself. All good things in his book.

And then, that very evening, it happened.

He now knew exactly what he’d have to purchase, what he’d stock his stand with, and how he would handle his shop in the meantime, and had made himself hot chocolate to celebrate. He’d gone back to his workshop one more time just to make sure Crowley’s guy had done good work (of course he had) when he heard the voice.

“I am glad your roof is fixed now.”

Hi yall! Happy holidays!

To celebrate the holiday season, the lovely Brooke (@drgarth) and I have decided to co-host this cute event together!

Here’s a lil bit about our event:

Bex and Brooke’s holiday event is going to run from December 1st - December 25th. Essentially, it’s a Supernatural Advent Calendar open to all content creators to celebrate the holidays. Each day, we will reveal a special set of prompts yall can use to create whatever you want. The prompts will be released the day before their designated date so yall can have a little extra time to work on each day’s prompt (ie: the December 1st prompt will be revealed on November 30th, the December 2nd prompt will be released on December 1st, etc).

Each day will include 3 prompts: a holiday activity, a winter/holiday object, and a Christmas song or lyric. You’re more than welcome to use one item from the prompt list, or use two or all three prompts in your creations.

This is a super laid back event, so you can pick and choose to create for whichever days you want. You can participate in every day, in only a few days, or just one day. If you like the prompts on December 5th but you can’t post it until December 20th, that’s cool! You can post any time from the start of the event on December 1st all the way until December 26th!

Feel free to create any content you’d like: fics, gifs, edits, art, playlists, amvs, poetry, etc.

No incest or nsfw content please. We’d like to keep this open to all ages as it’s a holiday event.

Ok ok i think i got it how i proceed ill give u mummy inspired destiel tonight (sorry it takes forever i was trying to organize all my stuff during my vacation so id be free to do other stuff so the promised fic mistaken for couple(its been months im sorry)will be included with the advent calendar because i didnt eh start the drawing i only have a sketch im embarassing so even tho the story is somewhat done the drawing is not so i thought i might do it like this to push myself. I work better with non movable deadlines u know. Also work will be less busy until january so my thoughts should be clearer for doin stuff i want and love. See u soon promp list maybe tomorrow?
