OC Halloween Challenge 2023 Costumes Tell A Story Day Thirty: I Can Be Anybody I Wanna Be

NOTE: These are all alternate universe counterparts on my OCs from various AUs me and my friend, @disneyfan50 , either discuss or write based on disneyfan50's stories.

ophie i could spend hours reading your fantasy au, would you share with me a lil bit about your lore as an elven mage who has been around for a long time :>

i am nothing short of honored that u love my fantasy as and would be nothing short of honored to talk about myself as an elf… but there’s such a beautiful sadness to a long life and im so enchanted and haunted by it.

but she has an interesting past that’s scattered in the margins of bardic tales due to her proximity with beidou. and i don’t think she’s given a halo in these stories either. while mages are often highly regarded towards their power, they’re also feared and resented at the same time. and im not quite sure what yet, but i think that she had something to do with beidou’s death and feels immense guilt and sadness over it. a lil wound she can’t ever heal fully. (in all honesty, I think that she used to be into some fucked up forms of magic that involved bodily alterations, fusing monster and human soul in one, a la the witcher, and beidou volunteered for it and simply didn’t make it out)

i think she’s been serving in her current court as an advisor since she graduated from mage school (which is the jade chamber in this au). I think she was banished from liyue as a result of beidou’s death— both by legal order and on her own terms. in the world of mages she’s been disgraced even though she is thriving.

and she spends a lot of her time in mourning. in the early days of her advising career, when she was advising cyno’s great great great great grandfather, she was very hands off. just excited to be away from her past life. and a lot of bad things happened and was put in a position to advise a very young king, which is why she’s so uptight and frustrated nowadays.

and i think dehya is a constant reminder of all the healing she (i) have to conquer.

but on a more lighthearted note: she spends her free time watching the desert sands shift and sway in the wind. she hovers by the kitchen and snags dates before they’re pitted. she prepares long and intricate rituals she never carries out. she reads nearly everything she can get her hands on— there’s threat from the wooded heart of sumeru that paper records are a thing of the past, and so she’s convinced cyno to dedicate spare resources to widening the libraries of the palace.

and honestly, at first i wanted her to have a dungeons and dragons lifespan of only 800 years but i think there’s something sadder about her having to live for eternity because of her agreement as a mage to bind herself and walk hand in hand to the end of time with chaos.

I forgot about Craig potentially going to work on both of his upcoming shows (Fosters and PPG) at the same time, or is he going to? Cause this does made me fear for the quality of both shows, he seems to be more passionate about Fosters than the Girls, I’m already lowkey bummed that Genndy isn’t with him cause he said he does action so well.

Also I don’t know, I think I kinda agree with him about unable to tell stories when the PPG are older, cause they would lose their charm and uniqueness, cause what do you even do with adult PPG, what stories can you even tell with them that isn’t just fanfiction?

It sounds like both shows happening at the same time would be the case from everything I've heard, and it's something that's been bugging me for a while (again, trying to stay neutral, but ughhhhh). And yeah, that's a bummer that Genndy wouldn't have anything to do with a new show. They could always get someone else who's well-versed in animation action, but I just generally feel that the vibes are gonna be off this time around no matter what. Again, could be proven wrong (and I would be ecstatically happy if it worked), but that's how I feel. It wasn't realistically possible but 2016 felt like it would've been such a prime time to get more of the gang together to do a better reboot. Through no fault of anything but the unfortunate, relentless march of time and death and illness, we're not gonna be able to get everyone involved in the secret sauce of the OG show now anyway. That said, of course, that doesn't guarantee that something new can't be great, but it does feel like a lot of factors might work against the new show and that the passion's not there for PPG to begin with (the passion for money, on the other hand... 😭).

And again, I'm more of a fan of the girls as kids fighting crime, but anything is possible if you're creative enough and thoughtful enough. I mean, his wife made a show about dorky high school superhero teenagers who were originally adult superheroes that (from what I've seen) was charming and unique. I feel like something good in reverse could be done. It was more this insinuated notion that girls (even superpowered ones) aren't anything ~special~ once they become older that rubbed me the wrong way.
