It’s because Destiel shippers were demonized and called disgusting perverts who were making shit up out of whole cloth because we saw two attractive white men on screen standing next to each other and felt they should kiss for no other reason than we were weirdo pervs who don’t think about anything but sex all the time.

and if you were outside of the fandom/show, that’s the only way you would’ve heard about Destiel. it was a derogatory way to refer to shipping culture and all its toxicity. (but we stay winning etc etc)

I feel like the experience of all that pre-confession and pre-finale is just unexplainable. it really was something you had to be there for. not in a gatekeeping way, just in a collective trauma way lol

anyway, that’s why people who are new to the show are always so shocked there is such strong evidence for Destiel in text and on screen. if they had heard of it before, it was THEE example of a made up no evidence ship. you’re welcome 🫡

lately I've come across a couple people both here and on tiktok that are now getting into supernatural and basically going "woah you destiel shippers were not kidding, I always thought you were probably exaggerating". And it's like we definetely were not, but I also wonder where this reaction comes from and I think I've got it.

We all know what fandom is, especially if we're talking about non-canon ships. We take the subtext and make it textual, we live in the crevices of stolen glances and romantic paralels. But most of the time there's another (straight) canon ship that the writers can use to queerbait us, being like "see? this is who he really wants". Take BBC Merlin, for example: the devotion and closeness between Merlin and Arthur is obvious, but it's easy to point at Arthur's feelings for Gwen and say "see? this is what's real. you're reading too much into it".

Destiel doesn't have one. The very (mysoginistic) nature of the show means neither Dean nor Cas have any significant relationships the writers could point to and show us the "truth" so there is nothing to distract from what's obviously happening on our screens. There is no great romantic storyline to tell us "this is who he really wants" so they are all that it's left and what's between them becomes undeniable. What's even worse, the other main relationship in the show is as platonic as you can get because Sam and Dean are related (let's ignore the existence of wincest please and thank you), so the difference between Dean's relationship with Sam and his relationship with Cas is so stark, so obvious, that is hard to even begin to compare them and try to paint them both with the same brush.

I know I'm just rambling but would love to hear your thoughts on it.

The live action Scooby-Doo movies?

I did not see this ask until RIGHT now (first time on desktop since crab day, second time since Nov 5 2020 [which was DOUBLY experience since I got my phone taken the same day]) so I'm going to assume this ask got eaten on mobile because tumblr, HOWEVER you poked a bear with this ask anon (as I'm sure you knew when asking) SO without further ado: my Scooby Doo live action opinions

So when you say 'live action Scooby-Doo movies' I'm assuming you're talking about the James Gunn films, starting with Scooby-Doo (2002) followed by Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, just due to like, generally popularity and also the fact that I have actually seen those films. However shoot another ask if you wanted me to include Curse of the Lake Monster in this (because I will if anyone cares and turn this into a live-action scooby dissertation, i'd just need to like. watch the movie first) But anyways where I'm going with this is that this post is about the Gunn movies aka the ones with SMG, Freddie Prinze Jr., Linda Cardellini, and ofc our #1 man, Matthew Lilliard.

Okay so my take on these movies is... complicated. I wouldn't say it's as complicated as my feelings towards SDMI, because I watched the live actions way less as a kid and generally care less about them, but still no matter how much shit I throw at these two movies there are parts that I generally like (even love) that stops me from totally condemning them wholesale. Like the fact that these movies are FUNNY! There's so many moments from this duology that are just beyond iconic "like, that's one of my favorite names!" the whole thing with Scooby in the dress at the airport, ET. CETERA (like I can go on!)

The Gunn movies are genuinely SO fun and I can 100% see and understand how they've stood so well in the public view as a representation of Scooby. HOWEVER, this is where you start to see my problems with them. For the general American, (because that is the audience I'm familiar with) ESPECIALLY millennials and younger, who happen to make up the majority of both people on this site AND people I talk about Scooby with in real life, these movies, and the elements they introduced as "quintessential scooby tropes" are the base of their understanding of the Scooby franchise, along with likely some miscellaneous WAY episodes and maybe SDMI.

Which is where I get pissed off. In the pushing of the narrative of "breaking away" from the Scooby norm, Gunn basically invents (aka totally makes up) an idea of what classic era Scooby was like, cementing an idea of classic Scooby into the public mind that is totally disingenuous and just straight up false. For example, in attempting to portray Daphne as having taken strides to be seen more seriously in solving mysteries and defending herself, it pushes the narrative that in the classic era she WASN'T taken seriously, and only existed as a damsel-in-distress prop of a character, which is just not true??? Like yes, Daphne is clumsy, that's a part of her character, and her friends (because, fun fact, the gang ARE friends) joke about it sometimes because that's what friends DO. Framing that in some kind of sexist "that's all she does" lens is just total bull, especially as gang members fall into secret passageways/get lost etc. in WAY ALL THE DAMN TIME because that's how the plot functions! Like are we calling Velma ditzy for losing her glasses every other episode? Of course not, and Fred falls into passageways all the time, not to MENTION Shaggy and Scooby and all they get up to. Also one last thing on the topic of Daphne, like this idea of her mystery solving skills not being respected by the gang is just so supremely bullshit it amazes me sometimes, especially when she was the LEADER (or leader adjacent) through pretty much all of her appearances in the 1980s [Not that James Gunn could look at '80s era Scooby without spitting on it, but I digress]

AND THIS IS JUST DAPHNE! Like the perceptions pushed towards Fred (and Velma, but mostly Fred) through these movies are just as bad! Like okay, with Fred---In these movies Fred is just an asshole. I hate Gunn Movies!Fred. I mean yeah he can be funny but it's almost always so mean! Almost nothing makes me madder than a mean Fred by the way. If he's putting other gang members down (even halfway, like with his whole "dorky chicks like you turn me on too" line, which... ew) then to me something has gone very, very, VERY, wrong in your basic understanding of Frederick Herman Jones as a character. Like he's the cheerleader! He puts himself in between his friends and danger! He loves nets, and traps, and Elvis impressions, and wrestling, and the trapeze, and cars, and most of all he LOVES sharing the things he loves with his friends! (Sometimes to a bit of an extreme. No one wants to hear about your net facts, Fred) And the live action movies just don't understand that at all. And I know there's maybe something to say I suppose in that some of those aspects of his characterization hadn't been "established yet" by the time "Scooby-Doo" came out in 2002. But it's there if you look. For Fred Jones, being the leader means being the caretaker, (he's the Mom friend what can I say) and any version where he's cruel and arrogant and just DOESN'T CARE about his friends in the way he's shown to in the Gunn movies is just so far from Fred to me it's not even funny. And what makes it even worse for me is that this (or at least something similar) is the idea of Fred that has really spread to the popular culture. Just the "leader", the jock that makes the rules, the one that [insert X adaptation here] finally gave a personality and made interesting (something that has been said more times than I can count for pretty much every gang member, save Shaggy and Scooby).

And I haven't even touched on Velma, and how they gave her a bit of a early 2000s smart superiority girl complex against Daphne, plus the whole makeover thing and etc. etc. The Gunn Movies are pretty much what would happen if you took someone who hadn't seen Scooby since they were 7 years old (and honestly had a pretty negative outlook against it then) and tried to "fix" it, only his memory was so bad he just made up problems (and threw in a good helping of early 2000s style sexism with it) convincing pretty much the entirety of the popular culture that said problems exist and that Gunn was absolutely brilliant for fixing them (and then bringing up said "problems" whenever anyone wants to talk about Scooby) and this entire rant has been without even fucking MENTIONING what is probably the reason you, anonymous tumblr user sent this ask in the first place, to I, Swishy "Scrappy Doo Redemption Arc" Broke-on-books (dot tumblr dot com), which is his HIGHLY SUCESSFUL and utterly sadistic character assassination of my number one man, Scrappy Doo.

And I am going to try my damnedest here not to get totally into my highly passionate opinions over what James Gunn did to Scrappy in the first of his Scooby movies and how thoroughly it has pissed me the fuck off because I have been writing this post for over an hour now and if we start to really get into my feelings on this topic it will certainly be a couple of hours more but like. That Fucking Bitch. I give James Gunn personally a solid eighty-five percent of the blame for making my life as a Scrappy Doo fan UTTERLY unbearable with this stupid fucking movie alone, and just his Scrappy crimes would honestly be enough for me to say that I hate this movie, not even considering the numerous Scooby crimes I've been talking about here for the past million paragraphs, but the part about this movie that makes me the MOST mad the most pissed off is that it's actually a good fucking movie. James Gunn wrote two hilarious and entertaining movies that have become beloved in the popular culture for their successes in that arena, while at the same time pissing all over the core themes and messages of the franchise of which it was based, that of friendship.

TLDR; The Live Action Scooby Doo movies (written by James Gunn) are highly entertaining and fun pieces of media to watch, and are widely loved by the general public and looked at with fondness and nostalgia because of that. However, as a hardcore Scooby Doo fan (writing that phrase sounds so ridiculous but oh well) the existence of these movies and their impact on the popular culture can be extremely frustrating (despite any personal nostalgia said fan may have) due to their spreading of a misinformed picture of what "typical Scooby Doo" looks like. This picture is especially frustrating due to the fabrication or exaggeration of problems present in classic Scooby (such as sexism in regards to the girls), as well as giving more ammunition to other problems in Scooby fandom (such as oversexualization, and sexualization in general, which no one wants to see in regards to their children's cartoons, like HONESTLY.) Discussions of sexism and sexualization in Scooby (both of which ARE present and are issues, although not at their worst in WAY) can often lead to an overlooking of the issues that are very present and clear in WAY and have continued since then with far too little resistance (I'm 100% talking about the racism here) HOWEVER that topic deserves at least a dozen posts of its own that I am no way informed or qualified enough to even begin to think about writing. The Gunn Movies are frustrating to many longtime Scooby fans because of these reasons, but for me, and fellow Scrappy Doo fans there is also the added aspect of the demonization of Scrappy Doo in the live action movies and the affects that has had on the popular culture as well, making it uniquely inhospitable to like or enjoy the character of Scrappy. plagiarism in the bg3 fandom

as i've stated previously, i didn't want to make this post because i have a lot going on in real life, but i have been watching this being done to others and myself for months now and i can't not speak about my experience anymore.

laiostoudenn (prev urls: lathanderr/spellbooking/wizardblood) is a plagiarist and he has a history of stealing from other creators like @minthara, @mercymaker, @onewingedangels and others.

in this post, i, finally and after much and long deliberation, want to add my voice to theirs.

i'll try to give a chronological overview of what happened as i have come to experience it, through others and myself, and as condensed as possible and to make it easier for myself to tell:

the story

i became aware of this new blog after he @ me and he messaged me. he's been following me. i was slow to engage because i have a lot of things going on in my real life that cost me a lot of energy during the day. i have also grown cautious of too quickly becoming close to strangers online. i became aware, however, that he had been doing this with multiple bigger creators in this space, like my friend @hawke, who is also a creator in the bg3 space, and who has experienced the same behaviour. they asked me if i knew him and i replied that i did not.

that was it for me at that point and i didn't engage much beyond that because i didn't know him and i thought nothing of it - until later.

during that time, whenever i saw his creations pop up increasingly, either in the tags or on my dash, i noticed more and more that they looked familiar to the works of others, from @minthara, to @mercymaker, to @onewingedangels and other creators, including myself.

it was then confirmed that i wasn't simply imagining things when, months ago, two creators were brave enough to speak up about the fact that he has been plagiarising gifsets and edits from them:

this was done without consent, and after he had already copied prior sets from @onewingedangels.

i would greatly recommend reading the posts shared above, and looking at the examples provided in it, so that you get a clear picture of what's happening here. it's not one isolated incident.

if you take a look at the notes in the post, you can also see other creators speaking about their experiences.

@minthara has recently also uploaded a google docs with the screenshots of the sets stolen from them because they either have been deleted, or lead to nothing due to now multiple url changes.

i was made aware today that he, following the first posts detailing @minthara and @mercymaker's experiences, apologised at first and admitted to what he's been doing on 31st march 2024:

but sadly, this wasn't to last, and the opportunity to learn and grow wasn't taken.

instead what happened was now painted as "bullying" from other creators, as "clique" behaviour and as "gatekeeping", despite many of us operating independently from each other. i, myself, have only started speaking to one other creator involved now that i have noticed the stealing and copying still ongoing.

i have in my time on this website never gatekept anything. i have shared metas, gifsets, creations, mods, art, tutorials, and many other things freely.

but back to the matter at hand: after he has been trying to ingratiate himself to me for some time now, following me, unfollowing me, and refollowing me again until i blocked him for my own mental health, i tried to remain civil before this point, engaging rarely if at all, hoping everything would go away on its own - which was a mistake in hindsight, i realise - i noticed that once again he's been lifting entire concepts and frame-by-frame gifs and sets from me.

things that he now claims - likely after he has been made aware of my prior personal posts and @minthara and @mercymaker's post circulating again by being reblogged by other people who have been affected) - were simply "remade" or "expanded" upon, that he may have been "subconsciously" influenced, while simultaneously claiming that he didn't know these sets existed in the first place, that he came up with the ideas independently, and that it's simply inevitable to use the same scenes because it's a limited game.

this doesn't hold up under scrutiny, however.

i want to make clear that i very much understand and that i am acutely aware that i do not own scenes and i do not own mods or outfits. however, what i do like to pride myself on is coming up with concepts and scene choices and captions accompanying these concepts that are unique, inspired by my metas, headcanons pertaining to gale and my own ocs altonaufein and karl, all of which i have seen copied by him several times now.

this is not as simple as simply gifing the same lines of dialogue from a scene as he and others supporting him are now postulating and i want to make that very, very clear.

another reason why this statement doesn't hold up under any scrutiny and, what ultimately confirmed my suspicion that he has been copying me, was when he - after the first post exposing his behaviour by @minthara and @mercymaker was made - reached out to me, asking if it it's ok to copy a gifset i made (note: again, this happened after he was called out for plagiarising the first time):

i didn't respond quickly enough, so he went ahead and posted it without waiting for my response (the response i gave him is pictured above and for transparancy, i responded about a day later bc of work and irl obligations).

below you can see the stolen post and what i managed to save from it:

the set was a 1:1 copy. he wanted a version for his oc so bad that he went ahead and stole my concept anyhow, without even waiting for the permission he asked for.

he went to take it down after my reply, made cautious most likely by his still fresh callout done in march 2024 by @minthara and @mercymaker, and i thought the issue was resolved and it wouldn't happen again, that he wouldn't take again without asking, despite having been told not only by myself, but by other creators as well, no. we are not comfortable.

but no. he "remade" the set, switching out gifs while complaining about how he "had to make it original":

my set in question was made on 1st february 2024, he reached out to me on 22nd april 2024 to "remake" the set. he is well aware of the existence of these ideas and concepts and sets he wants to copy, underlined by the need to ask for permission when it's simply too obvious to otherwise deny.

it's no coincidence.

like others have had the experience, i too noticed that he often would not engage with content he planned on stealing or did go through with stealing. he would sometimes present it as his own "remake" of a set he did, of another he was "inspired" or wanted to "expand upon", sometimes crediting, sometimes crediting someone largely unrelated, sometimes and, more often, not crediting.

as i mentioned above, this was not the first and not the only set/concept, which he copied from me - whether that was before asking or after asking, or not asking at all, if it was ok to copy.

i use this example mainly to show a clear pattern of behaviour that exists across the board: he takes concepts from other creators and inserts his own oc and/or favourite character into it because he wants a version of it so very badly. it does not matter if said creator might be hurt, if they told him no, or if they exposed his behaviour before. it doesn't matter how old the set is or how recent.

it is still going on today, the only difference is that he has stopped asking at all once again.

my story completely echoes that of @minthara and @mercymaker's.

concrete examples

i will now go into more detail about the concept sets he's been copying, include the caption or quote attached to it. i'm sorry that these will not be in chronological fashion. i will add at a later point, just like @minthara has done, a google document to better do side by side comparisons, highlight the similarities visually even more, and preserve some of the sets, which have now been deleted by him as recently as today:

the theme of hands in gale's romance

i want to preface this by saying that the theme of hands was and still is incredibly important to story of my oc altonaufein and has concept of romance with gale. again, while i do not own these scenes, i wished to highlight a theme that i identified as poignant and profound within the relationship context. it's also why i added the poetry and quotes accompanying the set.

notice how even the caption format matches. the only thing lacking are my quotes / poems.

the format matches almost entirely: gifs from the same scenes (pulling gale out of the portal, the bench scene in an illusionary waterdeep, the astral sea scene, the boat scene, and more of the boat scene). the only thing that was added in this gifset are scenes that weren't available to me back then, namely the updated proposal scene, the kisses patches, and the epilogue as they came out well after i made my original gifset.

the second re-make even contains a gif that's not only the same minute detail of a larger scene - one that anyone who played gale's romance knows contains a multitude of other parts that could have been used - but also the same frames:

the only thing different was the font. sadly, i deleted my oc post since i have redesigned some of them and wanted to make an updated version of it in the future.

as you can see, all of these happened after the first cases of plagiarism and after i personally told him that i'm not comfortable with him "remaking" my concept sets as his.

conclusion

there are many other sets that i suspect have been copied or plagiarised, i want to remain objective, however, and include the ones i feel are the most damning examples, supported by the fact that he has been deleting some of them today while again, trying to set up his narrative to his audience.

again, i want to highlight the pattern is here with him. my post is not the first, my suspicious are the first.

he knows what he is doing wrong, highlighted by the fact of trying to ask for permission, by deleting sets in question, by, at first, apologising, whilst now talking about "gatekeeping", "bullying", "inevitable repeats of scenes", "taking inspiration", "scrolling by", being "subconsciously" influenced, etc.

as a conclusion, i can say nothing more on this topic other than that i'm very sad. it doesn't give me joy. it stressed me immensely then and it still does now. i wish he'd have taken the already admitted wrong-doing to heart and grown from it, instead of attempting to change the narrative and doubling down on his past behaviour, not examining what he has done and is doing several times over by now.

i have blocked him now, as have done many others, and will not engage further with him. we have been through this before and at this point, i don't think he will change.

what i do very much hope, however, is that this is the last i hear of this happening.

statistics-wise, this year has been absolutely incredible, despite how inactive i've been, so thank you everyone!!

Now that The Umbrella Academy has ended and Stranger Things is wrapping up, I’m wondering how much money is Netflix about to lose.

Netflix has constantly been cancelling shows despite their popularity after their first or second season and it seems as if people are getting desensitized to it now and I think Dead Boy Detectives is a great example of that. I’ve never seen the show myself but I’ve seen a few gifsets on my dash and I really liked it but I never put in on my watch later list because I was convinced it was going to be cancelled in a year or two and it turns out I was right.

Netflix being notorious for cancelling shows in their infancy is really coming back to bite it in the ass because their selection isn’t all that good and at this point, the main cash cow of Netflix is Stranger Things and once it ends, I don’t see people really stick around to keep watching.

No matter what, it seems like we can never get shows to stay green lit for long and people are clearly catching on. If shows keep getting cancelled like this, it begs the question why should we even care. Why should anyone put any emotionally investment in the lives of these characters, the cast members, and creators if the story is just going to end before it ever really started?

Sure, there’s other good shows on Netflix like Arcane and The Dragon Prince but they’re not as popular as Stranger Things. They’re also not really worth the effort of paying for a subscription when you can always pirate.

Just a small post, but if you see me unfollow you despite the fact we've been mutuals for many years, it's probably due to too much politics on my dashboard. It's definitely nothing personal - in fact, I'm probably on your side.

I'm as anti-Trump as the rest of you and I fucking hate his guts. But all the politics stuff is making me anxious and for my own mental health, I don't wanna see too much of it. And my tumblr dash has been blowing up with activism posts and everything the orange turd and his friend the muskrat says or does that makes people go surprised pikachu face.

I can't deal with that for another four years. I'll see some posts anyways, that's just how tumblr is - but I want my dashboard to show fandoms for the majority, not politics. And the past month has been really bad in that regard, in that I'm constantly doomscrolling (not what I signed up for) instead of heart-eyeing gifsets of my comfort characters and such.

So yeah, if I unfollow you - don't take it personal. And if reblogging all the politics stuff makes you feel better, definitely keep doing it. We all have our own ways of coping.

Little big rant ahead:

I joined the fandom with the start of ww era after the previous i was in turned into a literal dumpster on fire. And while it was clear in hindsight that the golden era of the tk fandom was around 2012-2014 (maybe it can be stretched to 2015), ww era wasn't bad either. Yeah the majority of the old guard/bfn was inactive or waning their presence a lot and basically disappeared the moment the ww tour ended we still had:

- gif/edit/moodboard makers

- art makers (not a lot but a few at least!!!)

- people posting pics from other social media. Either band photos or encounters with fans. Like people were ''fighting'' to be the first to repost the band insta pics!!

- people who weren't content creators but that at least they reblogged with funny tags. No, i didn't mind seeing the same pic of brandon 7 times during my catch up scrolling if 4 of them put some kind of tags to read in them (funny/horny/roasting him), that was the enrichment!!

Then the tour ended and fandom activity shrunk to 1/10 of what it used to be. Ressurrected briefly for their appearance at glasto 2019.

Lol thais liked a post about me complaining about not wanting to post 2 gifsets i made bc the fandom was too dead and i didn't want to waste them. It's dated 3 years ago!!!

Then 2020 happened. The pandemic, their social media silence on the blm protests (the bar was literally on the floor... we only wanted a social media post giving support!!!! How come the bootlickers were all up brandon's ass about how difficult it was to rewrite a whole verse of land of the free to play on tv in 2 weeks but posting a black pic on insta tagged blm was too hard??? HOW?), the horrific situation of the roadie hazing happened in the past that resurfaced... like i don't blame anyone who didn't want to engage with the band afterwards (bc they are some good reasons!! I will never forget how they let us down! And while the hazing wasn't perpetrated by the band members it was still such a horrible situation that shouldn't have happened!)

But this was a complete mass extinction here on tumblr. Of all the fandom communities this seems the only one that died like this.

We are currently left with

- 3,5 gif makers

- maybe 2 art makers if i include myself

- maybe 2 people posting pics including myself

No consistent edit/moodboards/meme makers no consistent reposting of official pics from their socials. The like/reblog ratio on posts is 3:1 on good days and close to 4:1 or 5:1 on bad days. I wake to notes (when i get any) that are 80-90% likes. Most of the rare reblogs don't have any kind of commentary at all.

I could easily run my queue for 7-10 days just with posts i could find on my dash, almost zero effort bc i was fed content on my dash. Nowadays i need to spend hours on blogs/my drafts/my bookmarks to put something together, only for likes. It gets tiring easily with a soul and energy sucking job to do to survive only to barely get any reward (reblogs with tags to read). This community will never recover on people who refuse to use the reblog button

It's even harder to compare this fandom to the mcr one, yeah it's a quite unique situation bc having such a thriving fandom despite the band being broken up most of tumblr's life is INSANE but you can't help getting angry/sad at why did they survive but not us? I can reblog so much fanart on my sideblog!! People posting pics!! Many archivial blogs!! The gifsets!! It just feels so unfair!

The incessant beeping of the monitors in the hospital room were not the only sounds present. Gentle murmurings, and encouraging words from the doctor and nurses surrounding the couple were ever present.

“Has anyone checked on him?” the laboring woman asked, her eyes glancing towards the doorway.

“He’s fine. His nurses are with him and Maddie is watching him. Let’s focus on now,” Her husband rubbed her shoulder trying to be comforting.

“It’s time to push, Mrs. Buckley.”

With a few good pushes, the baby boy was brought into the world. When placed on his mother’s chest, his father let out a slight smile while looking at his wife. She was looking at the infant with a tilt to her brow.

“You’ll do.”

Thirty years later, Evan Buckley was at his sister’s house watching Jee-Yun for the day. Chimney had a doctor’s appointment to check on his stitches after being impaled by a gurney. Once the emergency was over and all of the firefighters had recovered, he got a good lecture from his best friend, Hen, for doing what he did. It may have eventually helped to save his life once Buck got to him, but the fact that he did it left them all shaken.

After making sure Jee-Yun got her lunch, she had declared it was “Movie time!”

“You want to watch a movie? Okay, kiddo, what’s on the list today?”

Maddie had lamented to Buck that they were on a Encanto kick so if he didn’t mind Jee convincing him to sing about Bruno to have fun with it.

At the moment, Buck was happy to have the focus of his niece. It had been a whirlwind couple of weeks, between the collapse, worrying over the crew, Kameron’s water breaking, and Natalia.

That was something that still surprised him. He thought for sure he had messed things up once again. His life was just too crazy and he got it. Having the Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (or ex-fling in Lucy’s case if that was the right word) show up during your attempted dates was not a good way to start something new.

But she came back. He could still remember the sound of her voice when she said his name and how her lips felt against his own.

He really did like her, even if how they met was unconventional. Sure, Eddie may have said it was not a good idea, but Buck did truly feel ready to get back out there. He had taken time to himself and thought he had done a good job of working on his own journey of self-discovery.

At least he had before he saw his- no, Kameron and Connor’s son. It startled him just how much he felt in the moment but he knew the right decision for the little boy was to be with his parents. It was up to Kameron and Connor how much they wanted him to be in his life.

For now, Buck was giving them space, claiming that he wanted the three of them to focus on each other. So forgive him for not checking recent texts where Connor asked if he wanted to know the baby’s name.

So lost in thought, Buck almost missed Jee bringing him her toy microphone, “Sing Uncle Buck!”

“Are you sure about that? Your dad said I give him nightmares when I sing.” he exaggerated his face to look silly and it made her laugh.

“Hey, are you traumatizing my daughter?” Chimney joked as he walked in with Maddie.

Jee abandoned her microphone to go and see him. He couldn’t lift her up quite yet but he could still give her a cuddle as he sat in the chair.

“You walked in right on time to avoid her regretting her toddler life choices.” Buck laughed softly. “What did the doctors say?”

Chimney had a triumphant smile as he spoke, “Doctors said everything is healing fine. I should be good to go back to work soon.”

“Good!”

Maddie looked over at Buck. “I was going to make some lunch, did you want to stay or do you have plans with Natalia?”

Buck glanced at his phone. “She’s at work right now, but I can stay.” In fact, he wanted to talk to his sister more than anything. “I’ll give you a hand.”

She smiled and they went into the kitchen where she began pulling out ingredients for sandwiches. Buck went over to the pantry to look for some sides to go with their lunch.

“So, how are you feeling? No aches and pains?”

Buck looked over at her with a smile. “I’m good, Maddie, promise. You saw Athena that day, she was not about to let any of the crew go without being checked on.”

Taking out some cold cuts, Maddie set them on the counter before walking over to him. “Hey, um, I just wanted to say something to you real quick. I realized I didn’t get a chance earlier.”

Buck lifted a brow, curious what she meant. “Okay?”

“Thank you.”

Realizing what she was likely thanking him for, Buck looked down and nodded. “Maddie, I was just doing my job.”

“Buck, your entire team was either unconscious, impaled, missing, or trapped in a crushed van. You did so much and while I know everyone has already told you they appreciated it, I just…I really needed you to hear it from me.”

It was normal for them to hear firefighters call out to each other if they found a victim in distress so others knew they were accounted for. But it was especially meaningful that when she was scared and worried that she heard her brother announce the man she loved was safe with him.

Buck didn’t quite know what to do with that and all he could do was hug her. “I’d do anything to make sure he comes home to you, you know that, right?”

“I do, but that also includes you, okay? All of you.”

Sniffling, he walked over to the counter to begin cutting some vegetables. His phone vibrated with a text and he looked at it, thinking it was either Eddie, Christopher, or Natalia. Instead, it was Connor asking if he got his last text.

Maddie had been behind him and saw the notification, but glanced up at him. “You going to answer that?”

“Uh, no, not right now.” Buck cleared his throat and began cutting up some carrot sticks for Jee-Yun.

“Buck. You haven’t talked about it since that day.”

Buck sighed softly, glancing over at his sister. She knew him probably almost better than anyone but he also knew she was just looking out for him.

“It’s fine. I delivered the baby, he’s all good now, and they’re a family. I did what I was able to do.”

“Buck-”

“I just…” Buck closed his eyes, remembering what he said when the baby was born. “You know I called dad to let him know.”

“Why did you do that? They hated the idea.”

“I know, but…I just figured he’d have something to say. He kind of reminisced about the day I was born and…”

Maddie closed her eyes and took a breath. “What happened?”

“I asked him what mom said when she saw me.”

“Why do I feel like that was a mistake?”

Buck shrugged his shoulders. “She said ‘You’ll do.’”

Maddie opened her mouth to say something but stopped. Once upon a time she might have tried to defend her parents, because of how intricately her grief was tied to the memories she had of them before Daniel. But now, she couldn’t bring herself to say something.

“You know, I get it. At the time she was overwhelmed and in the middle of everything with Daniel. She was looking for a miracle.” He remembered those words she spoke to him that night at dinner, before he was struck down by lightning. “It’s just that when I held Kameron’s baby, I was looking at him, and she asked if he was okay.”

“What did you say?”

“I said ‘He’s perfect.’” Buck looked down and noticed his hands shaking so he put the knife he was using down. Maddie reached over and took his hand, squeezing it gently. “I guess I don’t understand how you can look at someone so innocent and…the first thing you think is ‘You’ll do.’”

Maddie lifted her hand to cup his face and looked him right in the eye. “Buck…you were perfect. Sure, you’ve had your ups and downs lately.” Buck laughed, realizing what she was doing. “But the second I saw you and how unbelievably cute you were, I definitely thought you were perfect. I know it’s not the same, but-”

“No, I…I know, Maddie. I meant what I said last year. You raised me. Knowing I had you, it meant more to me than anything in the world. I really appreciated it.”

“You did a great thing for them, Buck. Sure, I may have had some concerns at the beginning, but I also know that you’ve come a long way since making that decision. And I am sure that that little baby is going to know love because you gave that to him. Remember that, okay?”

Buck nodded his head and looked down to see Natalia texted him. Lunch date?

He smiled and picked up his phone to text her, At my sister’s, but maybe dinner at my place? I promise no one will be in labor.

“You really like her, don’t you?”

Buck nodded his head, “I do. And I don’t know where things will go, but I do know I want to try. I want to do things right this time.”

Maddie smiled, “You will. I’m proud of you, Buck.”

“I’m proud of you, too.”

“Hey, we’re starving out here!” Chimney called, breaking the moment.

They turned twin gazes over to each other before busting out laughing.

“You sure you want to marry him?” Buck teased.

“Oh, yeah. Definitely.” The smile on her face was so bright that Buck could feel his heart bursting at how happy he was for her.

Taking a breath he didn’t know he was holding, Buck could honestly feel like some weight had been lifted. He didn’t realize he had been holding it for so long since that day. He was just looking forward to what the future had to offer.

Today is finale day for Nancy Drew.

I've attempted to keep myself busy, not let the sadness envelope me at the loss of somthing so precious to me. But at some point you have to stop moving, so I thought I would be sappy here on main cos so many other fans are, and reading everyone's experiences has shown me that I'm not the only person this show has touched so deeply.

I was rather late finding this show. Here in the UK, we don't have the CW network, though to be honest I don't watch a lot of cable anyways. It was simply by chance that a gifset was reblogged onto my dash, one of the morning-after scenes from 3x13. The softness of Nancy and Ace in that scene melted my asexual heart, and then I read the tags and saw it was from a show called Nancy Drew.

The Nancy Drew games were some of my earliest experiences with video games, my aunt for my Birthday and Christmas would buy me games from a site called Big Fish and install them onto my PC, and one of the ones she brought was a Nancy Drew game. Visual Novels, Point and Clicks, and Mystery Games are still a core part of my tastes as a gamer, even as I branched out into more modern, AAA games and the growing indie market.

So I downloaded the show, and watched it while running raids on an MMO - and I was instantly in love. It's difficult for me to find the mental capacity to consume media - particularly anything new - but the story telling, mystery and characters kept me hooked and guessing every episode, and by the time I had finished watching it, I was inspired in a way I had never been before.

At the time, I was working a corporate admin job, one I had been working ever since I had turned 18. I was a collage dropout with no grades, complex mental health issues, and PTSD from abuse, which caused me to lose a good few many years of my life just trying to stablisie. This show came into my life when I was starting to find a footing, and wanted to do more after all those years lost.

I began writing, creating narratives for characters I long had ideas for; fanfics that made me connect with fans; and fanart I used as opportunities to push myself out of my comfort zone of drawing.

It made me realise that I was discontent with where I was, and that what I wanted to do was create. I left my job to pursue art. Things didn't go according to plan, but the show was there for me throughout it and I kept writing and drawing even when I was in recovering from almost dying thanks to pancreatitis - 7 fics in 7 days is something I will forever be proud of but will never repeat.

And then I made the decision to apply to Uni, despite my disabilities and having no grades. I applied with a portfolio that featured the fanart and fanvids I made for this show, and I got accepted - now I will be going to learn how to make games, with the aim to make ones like the Nancy Drew games that got me into gaming as a kid.

I found a fandom that I wanted to engage with, even when I was bad at doing so.

I made my own merch because I was sad there was nothing official.

And now, even with this show ending, I will keep going forward with the spark this show ignited within me - and maybe I'll get to tell my own tale with this crew someday, you never know.

i don't know where you stand in terms of supernatural/destiel, but since the last anon asked me abt buddie v destiel in terms of queerbait then i'll take that as a point of comparison

destiel was indeed the main queerbaiting method used by the cw to promote spn. they knew that most of the audience had been watching the show thanks to cas and dean's chemistry and wanted them to be together. however, for many reasons, mainly homophobia or probably chain of command etc etc, they were never gonna make them explicitly canon. so instead they kept.. "amping up"??? the chemistry and the romantic subtext between them enough to keep the audience engaged but keeping plausible deniability. obviously after the last season and the whole bury your gays where they killed off cas, ppl were angry. it was and still is a whole thing bc honestly the cw sucks.

tl:dr #1, destiel was queerbait and ppl who watched spn are now in fear of living through it again when watching other shows

anyways, onto buddie.

ppl who haven't watched 911 but see a lot of buddie content fear that the show is basically doing the same thing, adding little details and subtext between buck and eddie to engage queer viewers or buddie shippers in general and thus have a bigger audience.

what i don't know, but i think is pretty subjective, is if the previous anon would have 911 ruined for them if they started watching, shipping buddie, and then they never got together explicitly in the show.

911 is currently still running and imo there is definitely some amazing chemistry between buck and eddie, not to mention a romantic relationship between them would make total sense.

SPOILERS AHEAD! SKIP THIS PART IF YOU WANT

buck and eddie are pretty much the closest friendship in the show, veering strongly into romantic territory. buck has had a string of catastrophic relationships with women throughout the show, and it's always implied that they don't work because buck needs someone who really knows him, loves him and wants to commit to a serious relationship with him. (eg, a best friend or someone to form a family with).

this particular struggle of buck's is easy to parallel with his relationship with eddie, who has his own relationship problems (including a wife who he separated from, tried to get back together with, and then she died), since he hasn't had any stable love interests.

a crucial part in all of this is christopher, who is of course the person who eddie loves and cares for above all else. chris has had a big say on the way eddie's relationships turn out, because loving eddie means loving chris.

guess who loves chris with his whole heart and is pretty much a second parental figure to him? buck.

between that and the outrageous life-or-death (or psychological distress) situations they have lived through together, there's an unbreakable bond between them. they confide and rely on each other in nearly every aspect of their lives, both during good and bad times.

SPOILERS OVER!

i personally have fun and adore buck and eddie's relationship as it is currently, and yeah, i'd love for them to be canon as much as the next person. but i'd also be okay if they continued to give us the same buddie dynamic we have right now.

there are a lot of meaningful moments and scenes that basically reaffirm how truly close they are even outside the plot they show us on screen. i love that because it's like they're giving us little blank spaces to fill up with headcanons and fics and gifsets and that is so fun!!

but certain ppl are more adamant in their desire to see their relationship develop romantically on-screen. despite not being one of those people, i get why they want that and i sincerely hope they get it!!

but if it doesn't happen, i'll still happily watch the buck and eddie we've been given and cherish all of their interactions. that and of course as i said in the previous ask, i love 911 for a LOT more reasons than just buddie.

tl;dr #2, buddie isn't canon, whether or not it's queerbait depends on who's watching and how they're watching, but 911 is still worth it as a whole.

Ever since tumblr mobile introduced those screen long video ad spaces that look like they just cut out a whole section of ur dash my app has been running so much worse now to the point that at its fastest the lag delay is like 4 second to being completely unusable. Advertisement that take up more data than a few pngs should be outright banned, these mobile game ads that i usually see on YouTube or while playing other phone games started popping up and not only do they take up so much space but you can’t go more than a minute or two without their audio blasting the second they load in regardless of if you can even see it and continues to play for like 30 sec after. But these are especially egregious because these ads are literally playing a full video advertisement for the game while also loading a demo level of a game (which are made to run in mobile games not a social media app). Don’t get me wrong this is a problem everywhere like pretty much every site is unusable without ad blocker, poor fandom. net can barley load. It’s just crazy to me how tumblr is running these ads despite their app struggling to load 480p videos or more than one gifset at once, I can barley load 1 gif at a time now because of all the data being taken up.

In complete seriousness, they need to make laws about ads that say they can take no more than one, maybe two, clicks/taps to close/skip. No more "wait 10 seconds until you can skip the video, wait 10 seconds until you can skip the fake playable ad, wait 5 seconds until you can close the 'download now' overlay, puts up a half-screen in-app appstore pop-up (which at least you can close immediately)." This should literally be illegal to do.

Edit: this is blowing up so I just wanted to add (haha ad) that this was my "reasonable request" I also think there should be way more and way stricter laws around all advertising in general. I think most advertising as we know it today should be abolished.

I have character tags on p much all of my blogs so my "j" tag on @boyifyoudont and @abhorr also contains things with Jian's vibe. Richard's tag is "dl" but i have less stuff for him in general.

As for what Richard is planning, what i can tell you is that Jian's thoughts tend to take him far beyond any reasonable conclusions. For now, Richard is actually being honest. He's a nice man. :)
