Decided to throw my hat into the ring and design my own verisons of the Lamb and Nariander!

I plan to revise the sketches later and probably design a few followers as well, but I think that this is a pretty good start!

many people dont know this but the easiest thing to fuck up in term of design is spacesuit helmet and its also the hardest to get right.

its the classic battle between functionality and aesthetic and unfortunately straying too far to either side makes for some really stupid looking helmets.

hihi! love your art btw!! Apologies if this is an odd question bit I wanted to know if there was any reason behind your desi scary design? (we’ve shared the same braincell it appears but I was wondering if there was any specific reason? :])

I do have a special reason--actually two!

The first is I plan to be a theology major with a primary interest in Hinduism. I remember reading a Wikipedia page on Agni some bored mid-spring day a time ago, and as I scrolled through I was like, "Man, this slaps!" And then I read up the page about Indra and I was like, "Holy SHIT, this SLAPS!" Now I'm halfway through the Ramayana and. god. I can't even describe it. I'm so happy ;v;

The second is I'm in the early planning stages of creating a webcomic! Its world-building is heavily reliant on and inspired by real-world religions and mythos, and because the first country under the spotlight is inspired by India (paired with Hinduism), I'm deep into research of that country right now.

(By researching the country I have also somehow been absorbed into pop culture. I have been listening to deewani mastani for WEEEEKS hEEELP AUGHGHHHHHHH DEEPIKAAAAAAAA)

I hope to visit India someday. I want to see the temples with my own eyes. I want to feel the sun on my face and I want to meet the everyday people.

Anyway, 'cause of all that my brain has snatched my favorite character and. I dunno. mashed them with my other main interest? I'm glad you like her! I want to actually color her design formally one of these days, and I want to conjure up a look for her mom (I think her mom is also desi).

Voidbreak's humanoid to anthropoid scale.

Mostly general design notes. There is definitely variety in between these four, they're just the main parts of the spectrum. Not all characters will fall on the scale either, i.e celestial forms.

Type 0 - Things that look like humans. Are not necessarily humans. [Examples: Terrans, Elves, Dwarves, Vampyres, Reapers, Fae]

Type 1 - Ears, tail, and/or horns, claws or talons, small amounts of fur/feathers/scales around the face, hands, ankles, and sensitive parts of the body. Plantigrade. [Examples: Fae, Muses, Nephilim, Cambion]

Type 2 - Ears, tail, and/or horns, claws or talons, jaw and neckline down to collarbone covered in fur/feathers/scales, arms and legs are furred/feathered/scaled up to the elbows and hips. Digitigrade. [Examples: Fae, Valkyrie, Chimera, Demi-drakes]

Type 3 - Full Furry. [Examples: Fae, Therianthropes, Dragons, Kitsune]

The given examples are more guidelines than rules, hence Fae covering every single category. Some like Dragons or Nephilim have additional forms that aren't on the scale.

As a watercolour artist, something simple and glorious like this will always have my heart!

The impeccable use of layers and wet on wet technique definitely help us to beat the blues. All hearts for the use of one colour, often known as monochromatic colour scheme to achieve the desired effect.

thinking about the concept of the squad having a 'eyespot' on the front of their face so ppl can tell when they're focusing on them

things in front of them are their natural focus, they can still see around them in that sorta 360 style, but what's in front of them is what they have the most focus on

also the tree prolly popped out some who didnt have the markings in the past that were... unsettling to the locals say the least. so tree eventually went 'fuck it lets give these fuckers a eyespot so ppl dont freak out' and it worked. sorta.

they're only slightly uncanny instead of something that looks like its mimicking a shape but just off in so many ways that it’s fuckin terrifying. 

Which is a MAJOR improvement over the previous tree-spawn who prolly looked more eldritch/animalistic in nature. (and possibly even acted the part too tbh)

Heart and Mind design concepts! Very messy but I was struck with inspiration and just needed to get my ideas out haha

I’ve cleaned up their designs a bit/refined some concepts since (these are a couple weeks old), so hopefully at some point I’ll post some fullbodies with more explanations behind certain parts of the designs, headcanons, etc because I love symbolism and put a lot of thought into these silly guys
