Derrick J. Wyatt and Genndy Tartakovsky have permanently altered my art style. And any time I see anything else inspired by either of their styles too- IMMEDIATELY in love

sooo I got inspired by dyemooch and Derrick's artwork of Babymetal. And I decided to try out Copia and Terzo in Derrick J Wyatt's style! Sorta paying a little homage to him, since his work is a huge inspo to me. Still can't get over how he's come across my work and has even allowed me to color his sketches ;__; 🖤
For those who don't know, Derrick J Wyatt was art director/involved for shows like Ben 10 Omniverse, Transformers Animated, Teen Titans, and Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated to name a few.

Misc LoK doodles+ WIP pile of Derrick J Wyatt styled Raziel, and Rahab drowning Armaros (oc)
ft. that body butter from Sephora that (supposedly) attracts spiders.
I will always prefer and simp for Cabuco's curly haired Rahab than the old 1999 render we got for SR1.

💚🦋~TFA Jadebutterfly REVAMPED~🦋💚
Okay, some of you may know from my yearly convention weekend, some of you may not, but I am actually a big Transformers fan - especially of the Animated series!😁✨ I did watch Beast Machines on Fox Kids when I was a kid, but it was the Animated series that REALLY got me into the Transformers franchise, around late 2008 and I never looked back - still a big fan to this day~✊🏻😊 I've recently gotten back into RPing TFA with my fellow TF bestie, KaitlinEXE a.k.a @kaitlinexe, which has inspired me to draw and revamp my main TFA OC - Jadebutterfly (Jady for short) who I created back in 2008. And...voila~!🪄Here she is for 2024!🦋 Here are also some examples of her from over the years:
(June 2010)
(August 2018, Cybertron Mode)
(July 2013, featuring Bumblebee headshot~💛🐝)
Wow!😮Comparing my revamped piece to the previous others, I have to say how much I've improved over the years with my skills, TFA style!🤩And Jady 2024 came out just as imagined, with the back view I chose and wanted to try out for her~👏🏻😍 I'm so proud of how it all turned out, that I had the idea of making her wing blades transparent so you could all still see what Jady fully looked like from the back😚👍🏻Also, huge kudos to Kaitlin too, for suggesting the glitter and sparkle effect for her wings~💖🤗 And yes, I do ship Jadebutterfly with my most favourite bot of all time...Bumblebee~!💛🐝💘🦋💚🥰 Hope you all like too, my dears!🫂💞If you have any questions about Jady, please feel free to ask~✌🏻😉Aaah, it feels so good to draw her again after all this time!💗xoxo.
*~Reblogs are also deeply appreciated as well, so please do reblog as well as like! Thank-you kindly!~*

Hey-yo '<')/ Your art-style is so lovely and, for lack of a better word, cozy. Were there any inspirations on your art-style?
thank you! my holy trinity of art style influences is rebecca sugar, the tf2 comics, and derrick j wyatt, among a lot of other things, like older cartoons and anime. i learned some about gestures and anatomy from my friend @kfrances too, her art is fantastic. i have no idea where exactly i picked up my love of textures from though, i've always liked the look of digital art that looks very handmade and cozy and traditional, and i like the look of old vhs and film. it's very nostalgic.
#ask#spiketheguy#i cant remember if i said this yet or not but#i was watching TFA with my friend and i mentioned how derrick was a big early art inspiration of mine and still is#and once the cars started coming on screen he was like 'oh. yeah. i can see it in the way you draw kitt.'#yeah dhshjbdfsdf. broad sleek lines like that are good but especially on cars. also rip legend we miss you o7#generally i want my art to look animation ready since i pull a lot from cartoons; and very textured and warm and nostalgic#i have a lot of really small influences and some of it is just fucking around and finding out#been leaning a little more into the grainy vhs look lately i feel like#i have a columbo sticker in production rn that i kinda leaned that way with. same style as that comic i made

Hi Nakamura!
Do you have time to answer something of mine and advise me about it? You see, I love your art, your merchandise, and everything else.
How was your process of adapting to the Omniverse style? Was it difficult?
And well, I wanted some advice about it because I've always liked Ben and I'm curious about your process, and that's it.
Sure, well... about Cartoon style, as I've mentioned since my beginnings, my design has always been similar to Omniverse, so it was not difficult for me.
Especially since I've always been a fan of Derrick J. Wyatt (Unfortunately I knew him half year before his death) and cartoon stylized style from Cartoon Network (like DC animated series).
Also, I am a character designer so I handle different styles...
which makes it easier to imitate (but keeping my style, so that it's recognizable that it's mine).
Something funny about UAF style... many people hate it, but when it comes to drawing it, it's actually very similar to Omniverse 🤣 the only distinction would be the "proportions" of the body. Nobody believes me Hahahah
The only advice I can say: if you want to improve, draw every day. About learning, you have to find the best way that fits you. When I was a kiddo, what worked a lot for me was looking at art from series and trying to imitate it (in fact, famous painters often imitate real landscapes). Over time, or just in a drawing, start adding your own details and you'll find your style.
I say "imitate" instead of copy, because "copy" means you just reflect what you see on paper/screen: There is no difference and that is not creative. It may work for learning or even animation, but it isn't recommended if you want to be "independent" (I don't know what the correct word is) but It's a way that many or few people can know that it belongs to you. The good example is that people who know my art recognize my comics, but when someone just looks at a drawing out of the corner of their eye they think it's a scene from Ben 10 series.
If you already know how to draw, it's good to see many references. In my case, I often look at lighting references and muscles or a thin body to be able to correctly capture the color and proportions (especially the realistic muscles, because it's a little difficult for me... that works for me in Anime style or detailed drawings).

new fav artist! please share your tips and tricks omg. who inspired you?? sorry I just LOVE your art style and perspectives and lines
Yippeeee yippeee yippeee!! Thank you so much I'm glad
I'm bigly influenced by a lot of comic & graffiti artists, I've done graffiti a long time & I wanted 2 do inks for comics when I was younger. I love energetic art w fun shapes. & I love art that has lots of colors but black shading to balance it out so it's still visually dark. & I fucking love good (thick) lineart. A lot of my inspiration nowadays is from my cool mutuals online & cool stuff I see irl but the big 4 that really got me into art are Derrick J Wyatt, Dave Guertin, (idk who did the OoT/MM art), & Sam Kieth)
My 1 art tip is fuck around & find out

Hunter Reyes, TFA/Transformers Animated (Derrick J. Wyatt) artstyle
Here we have Hunter Reyes again, originally a TFP oc I made while RPing with a friend of mine, this time around I decided to draw them out in the TFA artstyle, just for fun ^-^. ~~Though it’s funny since I haven’t really seen the show myself, but still I’m a fan of it despite that lol-~~.
Though it was a bit difficult to mimic/catch the style at first, oddly enough, given I had to pick a body type that would fit Hunter, plus stay in the same style while not adding too much detail like the original TFP Hunter pic, but it worked out all things considered.
-Alts include: Original, Vestless, and Gloveless
Hope you guys like it and have a Faztastic day! ^^

Derrick J Wyatt was a G.O.A.T (Greatest of all time). I adore his style and projects. So, I combined my favourite style with one of my favourite pieces of media - The Walten Files.

Yooo! I love your work so much, curious about what inspired your art style? It reminds me of Samurai Jack's sort of sharp edges and stuff which I think is so damn cool 🤟
you're so correct!! samurai jack or in this case, genndy tartakovsky, derrick j wyatt (bless his soul. he worked on shows like transformers animated, and ben 10 omniverse) are some big inspirations of mine when it comes to my art style.
also, a newer one would be dana terrace. i loveee her style too, which people have told me my artwork has that same vibe as her work in owl house.
