My Roller-Coaster Journey to Becoming a Licensed Teacher
My journey in taking the licensure examination.
My journey towards becoming a licensed teacher can be best described as a roller-coaster of emotions, filled with challenges, obstacles, failures, and eventual triumph. Each twist and turn has taught me valuable lessons about perseverance, faith, and the timing of life. In 2010, I graduated with a degree in AB English, unsure if teaching was my calling. Little did I know that fate would slowly…

WIBTA for reporting teachers to my school principal on the basis of the quality of their teaching?
Hello! For context, my school follows K-12 and I'm in my 2nd to last year (G11). Where I live (I don't know if it's the same for other countries) we all have to get into a track, and each track usually has its own teaching staff led by appointed coordinators who report to the principal every month or so regarding the performance of the teachers under them, though I've heard of some teaching in two or even three other tracks. This information will be important later on.
My first class in the morning is literature, more specifically 21st century literature, and it's taught by Mrs. G. The first thing that gave me a hint that the English-based subjects wouldn't be as great as I hoped was the fact that she was a nursing student. (It's on her Facebook profile. Nearly everyone I know in school posts concerningly detailed stuff about themselves on Facebook, and I just use it for the Messenger...)
Second or third in the morning on a normal school day is Ms. C. She's a DOST scholar which doesn't bother me in the slightest, but out of all the staff that handles the track I'm in, she's the only one who handles two subjects: Statistics and Reading & Writing, another English-based subject, one she doesn't have any certification for. (Again, from Facebook.)
Still, I know well that our system isn't perfect so I sat through their lessons. I was the kid that read a lot of books so I consistently scored high, but I noticed after reading a bit of DepEd learning plans that my classmates and I weren't getting the most out of their lessons for the competencies we were supposed to achieve - for literature, we needed exposure to representative texts from each continent, and for R&W, we were supposed to learn types of reading (archetypal, sociological, etc) earlier. The kindest I can say about them regarding their teaching is that they're deviating from the learning plans in a bad way + spoonfeeding the classes without making them think critically which I know is an important skill when it comes to their subjects.
I later learned from my mom who used to teach at my school that they're still able to hold their positions because they, for lack of a better word, bribe the coordinator with food and a bit of guilt-tripping since some of them are related to him, all to stay in the staff of my track because it's the most convenient one (2nd floor, one hall only). And the coordinator has let it happen for how many years already. It's a matter that should've been reported to the school principal and the division office, but I guess nobody's really had the guts to try and fix this for the sake of the quality of our learning.
I'm going to feel really guilty if I took up on that though. Mrs. G just gave birth this year and needs the salary to provide for her son, and Ms. C doesn't want to give up R&W so she can have enough teaching load + to keep staying in the staff of my track where it's safest to avoid her possibly abusive boyfriend, from what I've heard over the year. I want to do something, not out of malice, but out of concern that the next G11 batch wouldn't learn those 2 subjects and the necessary skills for them properly (because not all of them can afford to self-study).
So, WIBTA?

The Not-So-Iron Fist Lady
Idol talaga si SWOH sa "fake it til you make it" mantra. While I was watching her during budget hearing and yung pagrelease niya ng statement yesterday, I was really speechless. Ito yung VP? Personally attacking Sen. Risa just because she could not answer her questions regarding OVP's mandate, the spending of illegal 125 million confidential funds, and a lot more? Watch it here: https://twitter.com/karatinyoko/status/1701130935184597257?t=yAckaz_tzzS8ZJ38VBDEXA&s=19
Her projects, kung tutuusin hindi naman ganon kalaki, permanent office and museum lang naman. And bakit may museum? Ano ilalagay niya dun? As a spare tire, sobrang laki ng confidential funds ni SWOH! This is very alarming since may reputation siya (i mean thousands of ghost employees sa davao).
Moreover, Rep. Paul Daza specifically asked her if she was aware or familiar with the public WiFi program. However, she responded with "Timeout" after messing up so bad (like wtf the secondhand embarrassment 🤧), she couldn't answer the question herself and opted to let her USEC respond, even though it was directed at her. Here is the video: https://twitter.com/shamrocker_oo_/status/1697717373661241530?t=oWhNw1m85GmyW8eKdT-VDQ&s=19
What's even more horrifying is that her supporters are still actively praising her, painting her image as someone with an iron fist. The way they red-tag everyone na against sa reyalidad na meron sila, labeling them as supporters of NPA, is truly terrifying, especially considering that there have been abduction cases involving activists.
And I don't even know what to say about this: https://twitter.com/tonchi/status/1701272875016266114?t=dw6xq8gT9IhZfWwbm7hXGA&s=19
Wala ba tayong masasabi diyan?
TBH i dont even know why i wrote this. We could have a full disclosure bill but pinili ng mga tao ang confidential funds instead.

Sumusweldo ako ng 200 pesos per day.
Student assistant sa Dean's office ng college of science. 25 php per hr at max of 4hrs lang per day ang duty.
After a week ay nakahanap agad ako ng work bilang kitchen staff.
Nagwork ako as Adas 2 for more than 2 years at ngayon ay mag 3 yrs na as AO 2.
Nagmamahal,
JM Raymundo

Save the Children Philippines (SCP) said that over 26 million enrolled students in the Philippines are affected by climate change.
Among the problems SCP mentioned are the intolerable heat from the El Niño, more powerful typhoons, and limited access to water. These affect the children’s health, nutrition, and education.
Calling for government responsibility, especially in this time of extreme heat, the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Philippines urged the Department of Education (DepEd) and local government units (LGUs) to conduct safety inspections in schools, assess fire and safety hazards, and address urgent school needs and perennial classroom shortage.
As of this writing, the highest heat index in all regions of the Philippines ranges from 42 to 43 degrees Celsius.
ACT urged the government to implement long-term solutions such as the construction of enough classrooms with proper ventilation and reverting to the old school calendar that is more suitable and beneficial to education, given the detrimental impacts of summer classes on education quality and health of teachers and learners.
SCP is also actively advocating for the implementation and localization of Republic Act 10821 or the Children’s Emergency Relief and Protection Act, setting standards of accountability to children in the protection and provision of their needs before, during, and after a disaster.

Passing students who regularly miss class and receive several failing grades will only damage the teacher’s reputation. The students who truly carried out their duties as learners will consider it unjust. I hope that DepEd would pay attention to this problem because it affects how motivated most students are to attend class instead of forcing teachers to pass all the students or blame and ask them, “what did you do as a teacher?”
With this, students will believe that everyone can pass regardless of the effort.

i think i'm sad because there are more new hires in the office than us old employees. some of the newbies were once our students before. also, i still miss my fave colleague who i secretly looked up to. i could only imagine his reaction. also, the head asked us to follow a seating arrangement. i am seated in between two annoying teachers. one who cannot work on her own and one who talks a lot. the latter will transfer to deped and is replaced by a male teacher. i like that he's quiet but i feel like i have to teach him things. i'm not usually nice to the new ones but i don't want him to mess up because he also handles my advisory class. i also feel sorry for him i don't know why. maybe because he's stuck with me hehehe.

It sounds like you're interested in hearing about experiences related to Batangas State University 120th foundation. School foundations are organizations that support educational institutions by raising funds, providing resources, and offering various forms of assistance.
If you're looking for personal experiences, I'd be happy to share a general example. For instance, some individuals have volunteered or worked with school foundations, helping to organize fundraisers, manage finances, or even contribute their expertise in areas like marketing or event planning.

The Effect of Social Media to Highschool Students' Mental Health: What are the ups and downs?
Written by : kizzhara
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok, these are some social media platforms that some students usually use. They use it as a source of entertainment and to communicate with other people. The internet became more popular to students during the pandemic, as it is the only way to communicate with their peers and conduct classes. The Internet has been their way to entertain themselves and interact with other people. However, it may have these benefits before, it has also affected people negatively.
High school students or majority of the students use the internet to find love, affection, entertainment and things they cannot seem to find in the real world. Spreading and showing that the real world isn’t as scary at it seem in the internet can encourage them to find those things through socializing in real life rather than finding them in the social media. They will look forward for tomorrow, with the probability of lessening their anxiety and depression. Dreaming rather than fearing what will they experience tomorrow and afterwards.
The lack of socialization has affected their social skills. And because of their lack of information about how the world works, the influences they got from the internet also affected their understanding of how others will treat them. People who shares their experiences, whether it be good or bad, also has influences on teenagers, especially those who doesn’t have much knowledge about the outside world due to being inexperienced. And these are one of the reasons why majority of the teenagers/students has depression, anxiety and low self-esteem.
That being said, we should all promote “Mental Health and Well-Being for All” which is what the Department of Health use as a theme for the observance of the 2022 National Mental Health Month on October. And as DepEd stated in Memorandum No. 93 series of 2022, “Teachers are encouraged to facilitate activities that promote socialization or positive behavior among learners during classroom breaks or before or after classes.” Such as simple act of giving students encouraging notes, asking learners to share what they are grateful for, or encouraging random acts of kindness. It may not be easy, but spreading that the world isn’t as scary as it seem will ease the students’ anxiety. And spreading the shotgun, “A simple act of Kindness, Can Heal The World.” The internet can be use to promote these, as the internet is generally used to building and connecting relationships, finding voice, building a business, offering support, communication, spreading news and showing empathy and kindness.

OPINION: Ang Pumuna, Taya!: Ang bantang dala ng pakikibaka
Tumblr media
Photo credit: Anna Dalet at Julia Intrepido
//nina Rachelle Torralba at Ria Bautista

DepEd Teacher I Hiring Sucks!!!
I’ve been a licensed teacher since 2019 and started my career in a private school. I have been teaching for 4 years and I admit that I envy my friends and my former co-teachers who are now working in the public schools. They earn more than I and they enjoy a lot of benefits.
And it took me a long time to process these unnecessary shits. Collected documents, certificates, government IDs, instructional materials for demo, fare and those money we spent yearly just to complete the requirements. It cost me a lot. It cost us a lot. We are just poor. We need to work in a public school not because for our passion and professional growth but we want a regular job, we want security, we want a decent salary and also for the hungry mouths we have to feed.
The Department of Education neglects us. We suffer from a very flawed hiring process. Ang lungkot lungkot. Ang sakit sakit. I’m crying rn with a heavy heart while typing this shit. I spent my 4 years on this field to get experiences and be prepared if magpublic school ako but look what these greedy people do dinadaan sa pandaraya. THIS SYSTEM IS ROTTEN! I know, it’s a tough competition pero sana inaalam ang mga nangyayari sa ibaba because these powerful and privileged people are using their power and abusing their position.
Just my two cents.
Pero sorry, eto lang kasi talaga ako.
