What We Learned from the Spurs loss to the Nuggets
We’re all very lucky we get to watch this. Not even just as Spurs fans. I’m talking like, as basketball fans. As Sports fans. As Human beings. We’re getting to watch something great unfold right in front of our eyes. It’s like watching the Grand Canyon take shape in real time. It’s not the first time this kid has left me at a loss for words and I’m sure it won’t be the last.
Most of the conversation around Victor right now has, frankly, very little to do with him. It’s all about the supporting cast. The people that are there right now and the people that aren’t. The people who might be there in the future and the people that won’t be. I’m as guilty of it as anyone. I can’t stop thinking about how to build around him and what kind of pieces they need to get. The actual basketball in front of my face often feels secondary to to the hypothetical games coming down the pike

Well, usually I don't talk about sports all that much but for some reason I decided to do so today. Its been a while since I left watching the NBA, I mean I still do but very less compared to before. Growing up your priorities kinda change but anyway that is a different discussion. Well, we have seen a lot of super teams in the past but for some reason LA Clippers has not gained that much of attention. Currently, they have Kawhi Leonard a 2 time NBA Finals MVP and champion, James Harden and Russell Westbrook as former regular season MVPs and Paul George who has been a perennial All Star. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXZV8aQ7ANQ On paper, the team is as strong as it gets. The question however remains, will they win a championship. Its one of those moments when you know you have to do something. When you know that this might be the best chance you will ever get to achieve something you have always dreamt of. I feel the circumstances are just about right for them to pull this off. Currently, they are going strong in the season. We know Kawhi Leonard has the ability to make it count when it matters. He may have crumbled at certain times like when he did against the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs 2020, but he has shown that he has performed when the stakes are high like in the 2019 NBA playoff run. Russell Westbrook seems to have matured as well and is doing well statistically and so is James Harden. Paul George has been consistent as well. Personally, I am kind of excited to see if they win or not. These 4 are among my favorite players and I want to see them win.

Denver Nuggets Win First NBA Championship In Franchise History With 4-1 Finals Win Over Heat.
The Denver Nuggets have officially won their first NBA Championship.
To do so, they took down the Miami HEAT in 5 games and completed the series win with a 94-89 Game 5 victory. Denver’s postseason run has been dominant, going 16-4 through four rounds of play. This was the 14th-best playoff record by an NBA champion in NBA history.
Nikola Jokić was the star of the show for Denver and finished with 28 points to go with 16 rebounds. His big performance helped him win Finals MVP.
Michael Porter Jr. finished with a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds.
It was not a game of offensive execution. Denver shot just 17.9 percent from the three-point line, while Miami went 25.7 percent from deep. Denver was able to perform much better from 2-point range with 58.9 percent shooting, whereas Miami shot just 39.8 percent inside the arc. Denver also won the rebounding battle convincingly against Miami in Game 5, 57-44. They also scored more fastbreak points, winning 19-12 in that statistical category.
Denver got off to a 12-5 start by pushing the pace in transition and getting 4 early points from Caldwell-Pope. Miami, meanwhile, could not hit the broad side of the barn and missed 10-straight shots after making their first two. Miami furiously came back on a 16-6 run, and Jokić picked up his second foul. This forced Malone to put DeAndre Jordan in, who immediately made an impact with three great contests. Porter Jr. hit two shots at the rim late to put the Nuggets behind just 24-22 at the end of the first.
The HEAT carried their rhythm from the first quarter and turned the 16-6 run into a 21-9 run. This gave Miami a 10-point lead, up 39-29, forcing a timeout from Malone at the 7:17 mark in the second quarter. His timeout worked, and Denver cut the lead down to 4 with smothering defense. Miami was able to get the lead back up to 9 points after Kyle Lowry hit two threes and Adebayo reached 18 points with multiple shots at the rim. After going just 1-of-15 from three-point range and 3-of-8 from the free-throw line, Denver entered halftime down 51-44.
Denver opened the half on a 13-5 run to tie the ballgame at 60 apiece as Murray started to come alive with 5 points. Neither team could find any sort of rhythm, with both squads under 41 percent shooting the quarter. But then, in what was a welcome sight for Denver, Porter Jr. hit a three-pointer after missing 20 of his 22 previous looks from deep. Miami led 71-70 heading into the fourth quarter.
Jokić took on the scoring mantle in the fourth with 6 early points. Both teams then went on a scoring drought for nearly 3 minutes until Murray hit a wide-open midrange jumper out of a pick-and-roll with Jokić. Butler had one last push in him and hit two late shots from deep, and Caldwell-Pope hit a three in transition to keep it a 4-point game. Butler drew three free throws while fouled in the corner from three and nailed all three to make it a 1-point game with 3:21 remaining.
Butler made a floater to give Miami a 1-point lead a possession later, but then Jokić made a layup while posted up against Caleb Martin on a mismatch. Butler drew free throws once more, and Bruce Brown grabbed an offensive rebound for the stick back to bring Denver’s lead back to 1. Butler turned the ball over the next possession while passing out to a teammate on the perimeter, and Miami was forced to foul Caldwell-Pope.
KCP, the only player that had won a championship on Denver’s roster, calmly sunk both free throws to make it a three-point game with 24 seconds remaining. The Nuggets needed one more stop and got it when Butler missed a three-pointer, and Brown sunk two free throws to seal the game and the NBA championship for Denver.

Typically, the NBA MVP race is no country for big men.
With offensive efficiency and pace on the rise over the past decade, MVP ballots have been dominated by three-point marksmen, perimeter scorers and point forwards. The last time a player who was officially listed as a center won the award was Shaquille O’Neal in 2000. Not since Dwight Howard in 2011 has a center received a first-place vote.
But the 2021 MVP race is shaping up to be more intriguing than some recent runaways thanks to a pair of supersized candidates. With the season now roughly one-quarter over, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid and Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic have emerged alongside Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James as leading contenders. Embiid and Jokic share numerous MVP qualities: They have led their teams to strong starts, they have reached new heights statistically and they have helped adapt the center’s role in the modern, perimeter-oriented game.
Respect for the big men from Ben Golliver at The Washington Post. Worth reading.

SALT LAKE CITY – Of all the statistical milestones James Harden had piled up, it was time to chase something new.
He had been keeping company with Wilt Chamberlain long enough. It was time to chase Hakeem Olajuwon, or given the venue, Andrei Kirilenko.
Harden's scoring had become a given and that did not change. But on Saturday, he filled the stat sheet to combine with the Rockets' defensive revival that sent the Rockets past the Jazz, 125-98.
Harden, however, did not quite match the 5 x 5 statistical feats that Olajuwon collected more than any NBA player and that Kirilenko made famous, falling one blocked shot of getting at least five in five statistical categories.
When he took a foul to check out with 2:23 left, Harden had 43 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, six steals and four blocked shots. Had he gotten that blocked shot, he would have had the top-scoring 5x5 game in NBA history. He has scored at least 40 points in 13 of his past 20 games and topped 30 for a 26th consecutive game, trailing only Chamberlain's runs of 65 and 31 games.
The Rockets, however, had much more to celebrate.
The win likely cannot be considered the Rockets' best of the season. The thriller at Golden State will remain tough to touch. But this one might be the one they have needed the most.
Coming off the disheartening loss to the Pelicans and the demolition in Denver, the Rockets not only took a win in the second half of a tough road back-to-back, they did it with their customary Harden-based offense and atypical defensive performance.
The Rockets held the Jazz to just 36 percent shooting and just 26.8 percent shooting on 3s, giving up just 36 points in the paint on the way to a 29-point lead.
While the defense controlled the game, Gerald Green helped bust it open, scoring 12 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter while Austin Rivers had his best offensive game in weeks, adding 16.
When Rivers opened the fourth quarter with a 3, the Rockets had their largest lead, 94-69. But Harden was sitting and Donovan Mitchell had yet to get untracked.
When Mitchell began to roll, the Jazz rushed through a 13-3 run in the three minutes before Harden returned.
The Rockets got a tough Eric Gordon floater over Rudy Gobert and a James Ennis III slam to interrupt the Jazz run. But the Rockets did not seem to have the same energy on either end that had built the lead. But as they had throughout the game, the Rockets turned to Harden and the defense, and blew the game open once more.
As much difficulty as the Rockets had finding scorers to go with Harden early, it did not hurt them because the defense was so much better than the night before in Denver.
The Jazz did miss 3-pointers they would normally make and love to take, much as the Nuggets had at first on Friday. But the Rockets did a far better job at staying in front of their man, cutting off drives and limiting passes inside.
After allowing an average of 66 points in the paint in their previous two games, the Rockets gave up just 18 in the first half against a team that averages 48.5 per game. Mitchell was so engulfed by help defenders in the lane, he made just 2 of 10 shots, scoring eight first-half points.
Harden was far more effective in the lane, finishing drives around Gobert and Derrick Favors and drawing enough fouls to go 12 for 12 from the line. When the Rockets found scoring help in addition to Harden and Kenneth Faried's slams, with Green ending the half with a 3-pointer with .1 left, the Rockets had outscored the Jazz 19-6 in 5 ½ minutes to take their largest lead, 63-50.
Even putting the Jazz in the bonus less than two minutes into the second quarter did not seem to hurt the Rockets. If anything, all the trips to the line the Jazz and Harden made in the first half seemed to disrupt the Jazz far more than the Rockets.
With pace slowed to a crawl, the Rockets' defense had its best half in weeks. More remarkable, it kept getting better.

Stat of the Week: Nikola Jokić is helping the Nuggets break even by breaking basketball
On Wednesday night, Nikola Jokić put up one of the most absurd statistical lines in NBA history. He helped the Denver Nuggets win an overtime thriller against the Los Angeles Clippers with the following line: 49 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists, three steals, and one block. Only two other players in NBA history have put up equivalent numbers in a single game: Larry Bird and Russell Westbrook. สล็อตออนไลน์
