The RX-78-2 Solomon Express G-2
With the RX-78 platform - and specifically the RX-78-2 - proving itself invaluable to the Federation's war effort against Zeon, multiple upgrade plans were proposed to either improve the machine's overall performance, or allow it to carry out more specialized roles. One of these plans originate from the Solomon Express plan, the goal of which was to develop anti-fortress weapon systems for use at the upcoming battles of Solomon and A Baoa Qu. This proposed upgrade plan was named the Solomon Express G2.
The Solomon Express G2 featured a number of conventional and unconventional design changes. The design featured uparmoring on the torso and shield, along with additional hydrogen thrusters mounted on its back.
The most standout addition was undoubtedly the pair of thermonuclear warheads mounted on the machine. The warheads were mainly intended for fortress-busting operations, but still violated the Antarctic Treaty.
No upgrade plans proposed in the Solomon Express project were implemented. The exact reason for this is unknown, but it's speculated that there treaty violation was deemed unacceptable.
RX-The 78-2 Solomon Express G-2 was originally designed by Makoto Kobayashi for 1999 issue of Dengeki Hobby Magazine as part of the Solomon Express design series.

Assault Lily Wunder — Chapter 4
"This, right here, is my crowning moment. The moment I've been waiting for all my life. So until one of us is dead, let me show you everything I've got!"
The fourth chapter of Assault Lily Wunder, "A Duel to the Death", is now fully translated into English including the extra character and CHARM profiles.
This chapter is about the struggle to protect the last few civilians on Odaiba from the threat of the Huge. When she ends up being the only Lily nearby who's capable of keeping a gigant-type from crossing Nozomi Bridge, Kondo Misaka decides to make a stand—alone—against impossible odds. At the same time, the Fourth Division fights fiercely to protect Aomi and Daiba, culminating in Saigo Kurena fighting a solitary battle of her own against the Soldier Ants.
Read it on Dynasty Scans, or on the Assault Lily Wiki (dark mode available.)
If you know Japanese, you can also read the original chapters on Dengeki Hobby Web.
I've really been busting my butt on this and that's why my posts have been boring lately, sorry
Also a copy of Assault Lily Magazine vol. 6 was ruthlessly dismembered for that color picture. Remember its sacrifice

An Older Pic but I wanted to share my Tristan Chair! As a little update what I am up to right now. Currently I am re-arranging my Tristan Room. For example, one of the showcases you see on the background isn’t here anymore. The Desk is currently also kind of messy, but I hope soon I can give an Update to my newer Tristan Room! In case you want to take a look at the old Tristan Room, please use this Link:
More Informations: I was very happy about this chair, before I had one of the worden and cheaper IKEA Chairs which really isn’t good for the back for my longer writing sessions. So I was glad when this Chair was in sale as it felt perfect to me! But since I thought the chair didn’t fit aesthetically in the Tristan Room I ordered this custom blanket and I am still amazed how perfect it fits! The Motive is from the Dengeki G's Magazine where Tristan was featured and it looks like I am sitting on his lap! <3

Comment poser un Gunpla ? (Basic)

From this month’s Dengeki G’s Magazine, the third anime season of the Yuusha de Aru series, Dai-Mankai no Shou, has been confirmed to release this October! A new key visual has also been released in commemoration.
Additionally, two new characters will be joining the Yuyuyui mobile game, putting the Hero Club through various trials as miko’s of the neutral god.
More details under the cut:
Tenma Misaki (CV: Kitou Akari) (Right)
Behind her gentle demeanor she harbors radical thoughts
In her second year of middle school and fervently religious. She seems prudent and peaceful, but her thinking is considerably extreme. Since her early childhood she has been fascinated with the idea of an absolute god and worked tirelessly to become a miko. The neutral god took a liking to this display of piousness and scouted her. Her use of the pronoun boku as well as gender-neutral language and behavior is her way of showing respect to the neutral god.
Middle school 2nd year From: Kagawa Favorite food: Udon Hobby: Religion
Hokkedou Hime (CV: Fairouz Ai) (Left)
An untamed girl that likes fooling around more than anything
A free-spirited middle school second year that spends her days fooling around. Despite her looks, she has great innate potential as a miko. When the neutral god scouted her, she accepted, thinking it might be fun. Both her personality and status are in stark contrast to Misaki's, but that also makes them drawn to each other. She is an unbelievably cheerful girl, but also a compulsive liar

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Anima, Vol. 4
By Ikuto Yamashita. Released in Japan as “Shin Seiki Evangelion Anima” by Kadokawa Shoten, serialized in the magazine Dengeki Hobby. Released in North America by Seven Seas. Translated by Michael Rachmat. Adapted by Peter Adrian Behravesh.
I will be honest, midway through this volume I was getting exhausted, and not in the good way. Fortunately things turned around, but let me tell you, you can only draw out an apocalypse so far before it grows wearying. To be fair, things were not helped by current events – a large part of the book features a series of earthquakes, and it was written about the same time as Japan was also dealing with deadly earthquakes, so things had to be delayed. As such, a large, large portion of this book is the main cast all having a giant fight on top of a chunk of the moon headed for Earth. This includes Shinji (who is now in the Torwachter that stole his heart – don’t ask, it’s convoluted – and about to start Third Impact, three different Reis, Asuka, who is finally becoming herself again, and Mari, who isn’t. The result is fantastic if you love mecha battles and nothing else.
The biblical imagery in the book is still there, but it feels more like Star Trek technobabble than anything else. What’s important is that, by three quarters of the way through the book, Shinji is .83 seconds from dying – and him dying will bring about Third Impact. For reasons that are somewhat murky but likely involve the late Rei Cinq, who seems to also be Yui, most of the cast end up at the old high school classroom, dressed in uniforms from Yui’s time, possibly so that the illustrator can draw the Reis in a different uniform style than the usual. Shinji, unfortunately, is perfectly happy to be there, though others soon vanish. What’s needed is a strong, forceful presence to get Shinji out of his dream sequence torpor. And fortunately for the readers, she’s back and she’s pissed off.
I cannot emphasize enough how much having Asuka back to her old self means for this series. Aside from a couple of amusing parts during Rei Six’s adventures on the moon, where she honestly sounds like Little Orphan Annie, this was a book seriously devoid of snappy dialogue. Asuka can fix that. The best bit involves Mari, who was trying to either add Asuka to her pack. She’s now lost the pack and is dealing with not being a feral child as best she can – mostly by sobbing. Asuka’s response is to save her, so that she could “see what being around me is *really* like”. This is funny stuff! She also gets to be badass – after hearing about Shinji’s dream sequence school, she promptly shows up (with her hair cut short!), saunters into the room like a model, and smashes his reality to bits. I love her.
The next volume is the final one in the series, and it’s due. I hope that we get a slightly better ending than Shinji and Asuka strangling each other on a beach, but this is Evangelion, so who knows? Till then, enjoy your fearsome mechs and headscrewing philosophy.

Takayoshi Mizuki designed Gigan. He was working at a Weekly Shonen Magazine by Kodansha doing full color illustrations (during the monster boom). Kodansha recommended him to Toho when Toho was looking for an illustrator to make a "more colorful" monster (he said this was due to the popularity of Ultraman). He was told it needed to be a "monster of the universe" with no additional information about the script, and he was excited to be able to create his monster because professionally he had only been drawing other peoples designs. The recent Toho Champion Matsuri Perfection book from Dengeki Hobby Books has an interview with him where spells out where each design element came from and cites Toru Narita's design work as an inspiration.

Development History of the Command Wolf
And the zoids that came from it, which the internet at large seem to have forgot.
I'll note here that the following took place on the continent of Delpoi according to the Zoids Bible lore book, making this zoids a separate species than the later Konig Wolf, which originate on the continent of Europa.
(Source & further reading: https://theironbible.com/IndexZoids/CommandWolf.php)
This role will later be filled by the Shadow Fox after the Liger Zero becomes the primary infantry zoids of the Helic Republic. (Source: https://theironbible.com/ZoidBooks/OfficialFanBook/1-9.php)
I adore the HMM boxes because that have the most complete breakdown of technical details I have ever seen. Source & further lore: https://theironbible.com/ZoidsModelKits/HMM/CommandWolf.php
From the base models we get several variants, from the very well-known Irvine custom and the Command Wolf AC:
Source & Advanced Lore: https://theironbible.com/ZoidsModelKits/HMM/CommandWolfAC.php
And Of course Town Wolf:
Blitzer and Climber Wolf:
The Blitzer Wolf was actually the creation of one Yusuke Chiba has an entry in the 2nd CoroCoro Zoids Remodeling Grand Prix which was held in 11/2000 and won the wind-up category. The Blitzer Wolf, like the motorized winner, Death Stinger KFD, were featured in the Zoids Official Fan Book 3 and the wolf was also added to the card game. (Source: https://theironbible.com/IndexZoids/BlitzerWolf.php)
Now moving onto the unused concepts, firstly comes:
This fuselage was apparently intended to compete with the Imperial Lightning Saix, but the power demands on the core were too high and it was scrapped after several unsuccessful prototypes were tested. (Source: https://theironbible.com/IndexZoids/CommandWolfMKIIConcept.php)
Now for my absolute favorite, that I really wish had been a kit or action figure at some point:
The bigger, more complex looking armored legs, the claws, the overall more advanced armor and segments that make up the neck and torso, the close combat focus
unfortunately this wolf never featured in a story or merchandise, and it's only official appearance was in the pages of Dengeki Hobby Magazine, January 2002's Smack Zoids! B-Part. In universe it was apparently declared impractical due to its close combat focus and never saw mass production. Boo!mo
And now for my absolute least enjoyed entry in the Command Wolf development chronicles:
I have no damnable clue how two additional heads were meant to either fold-up and deploy from inside this thing, or be attached via the hangar/transport/whatever. don't like the heads gimmick, don't like the weapons pack, glad it got canned.

For my sixty-first Evangelion book review, here is Evangelion ANIMA 1, published by ASCII Media Works. I already explained a bit about Evangelion ANIMA back in my review of Evangelion ANIMA Visual Book, but here's a quick refresher: It's a light novel from Ikuto Yamashita (the mecha designer for Evangelion), and it's an alternate ending to the Evangelion TV series where Instrumentality doesn't happen, so the characters go through a different adventure with lots of action and fan service. This light novel was published as a series of short installments inside various issues of Dengeki Hobby Magazine, and although a number of the illustrations plus two of the chapters got compiled into Evangelion ANIMA Visual Book, there haven't been any books dedicated to gathering all of the story's chapters together... until now. Yes, the Evangelion ANIMA 1 book that I am reviewing today is the first volume in a series that will have all the chapters! Finally!
This book is not available in English or French, but there are some pictures (the first eight pages are in full color, and then the rest of the book's images are printed in black-and-white). However, please keep in mind that it's a light novel, not a manga, so the majority of this book consists of pages and pages of Japanese text, and only a few of those pages have illustrations. (EDIT, November 2019: This book is now available in English from Seven Seas Entertainment! Yay! However, some of the illustrations are noticeably darker in the English version, which makes the details harder to see. ANOTHER EDIT, December 2023: Seven Seas Siren has now released an audiobook of the English version! It’s narrated by Tiffany Grant, the original English dub voice of Asuka.)
Still, the few pics that are provided give an interesting look at how the characters and their Evangelions have changed. For example, Shinji is 17 years old and has a ponytail, and Rei III has a few clones with whom she can mentally connect (including one who has the body of a little girl instead of a teenager!). Here's the first page of the book, which shows some of the characters:
At the top of the above image, you can see four small portraits. The characters in those portraits are, from left to right: Rei Quatre, Rei Cinq, Rei Six, and Kensuke. And then below that is what appears to be a school photo that includes Toji and Shinji in the upper row, plus Asuka, Rei III (AKA Rei No. Trois), and Hikari in the middle row, and a bunch of unnamed classmates that have their faces partially covered by "Low Priority" labels.
Keep reading for the rest of the book review, plus a few more pictures!
One of the full color illustrations at the beginning of this book is a cool two-page spread showing a battle against Mass Production Evangelions! I'll show you one half of the image, here:
Look at the hole in Unit-02's head! Yikes! Oh, and you may have noticed that Unit-00 is holding a large weapon. It's called the "Tenshi no Sebone" (Spine of the Angel). By the way, this book has a removable dust jacket, and the alternate cover art hidden underneath is a red sketch version of the above battle that includes a bunch of notes written onto the drawings. (EDIT, November 2019: The English version does not have a removable dust jacket, however a black-and-white version of the alternate cover art is provided at the back of the book, with the notes translated.)
After the eight full color pages, the majority of the book consists of a lot of Japanese text, with only a few pages including illustrations. Here is one of those illustrations, showing the Unit-02 Type II Allegorica in the background, and Asuka doing one-arm push-ups in the foreground:
Pretty cool, but I wish that it could have been printed in full color. It feels like some of the information got lost by converting these illustrations into black-and-white. Anyway, I don't want to spoil too much of the book, so I'll show just two more pictures in this review. For the first one, here's a fragment of another illustration, showing a good view of Shinji's ponytail:
At the end of the book, there are a few pages of design sketches. These drawings mostly consist of Evangelions, weapons, and equipment, but there are a few character sketches as well. Here is a piece from one of those pages, showing one of the Reis and Shinji wearing plugsuits, and Toji holding a gun:
Overall, it's nice that Evangelion ANIMA 1 and the other books in this series will finally be compiling all of the ANIMA chapters, but it's a bit unfortunate that not all of the illustrations could be printed in full color. Also, for some reason this book only includes pictures from one of the artists, Ikuto Yamashita. As you may recall from my review of Evangelion ANIMA Visual Book, there's a second artist, Hiroyuki Utatane, who did a bunch of character drawings. In fact, a lot of ANIMA's infamous fan service comes from Utatane's work. Personally, I don't mind a little fan service, but some of that stuff was a bit too much for my tastes... Still, I know it's a part of ANIMA, so I was surprised that none of those pics appeared in this book. Are they saving them for later? I have no idea.
At any rate, the bottom line is that the lack of color for some of the illustrations and the complete absence of Utatane's drawings (so far) mean that this book series might not be the perfect ANIMA compilation that some of you were hoping for. However, it's probably the best we're going to get. Also, keep in mind that this book is mostly text, so you might want to factor that into any purchasing decisions if you can't read Japanese.
Anyway, if this book looks interesting to you, then please support the author by purchasing it if you can! It's available on Amazon.co.jp (EDIT, November 2019: The book is now available in English from Seven Seas Entertainment! Check if your favorite bookstore has the English version, and if not then ask them if they can order it for you. There's also a Kindle Edition, if you prefer that. ^_^ ANOTHER EDIT, December 2023: An audiobook version of the English edition is available from Seven Seas Siren! Check if your favorite source of audiobooks has it!)
Well, that’s it for my sixty-first Evangelion book review. I have plenty more Evangelion books to discuss, so keep checking my blog for new reviews!
