A fun, experimental WIP of a couple of my OCs on a photo 🙂 I need to finish colouring & then render them to try and make them blend into the environment more.

These girls appear in later books from my series as friends of Scaychie and, just like Scaychie, are victims of trafficking. The green woman sustained her injuries while working as a doctor in a wasteland; the people she had to look after were often confused & violent, but she couldn’t bring herself to abandon them to die & so often got hurt (she was absolutely not, however, above giving her patients a heavy smack to subdue them before pinning them down by force & stitching up their injuries; she gave as much as she got)

There are 4 more characters I need to add to this but. Here is a height reference for the characters featured in DLH #1 (Distro gets to be there twice cos she gets transformed lol)

Foxen people are very small. Except for Ka'harja who's just Like That and nobody is completely sure why (probably has something to do with all the random magic he put in his mouth as a kid)... It's gonna be fun mid-series when I get to the bigger races :3c

I see people claiming MudWings are “”boring”” but imo all it takes is like, 5 minutes of creative thinking and you can combine ANY MudWing trait with any other dragon trait and make it interesting! I’m a huge MudWing fan so I’m going to use this post as an opportunity to self-indulge.

Example of a RainWing hybrid is my WoF sona, who’s half MudWing, but was put into the RainWing nursery. So she instinctively is like “ALL RainWings are my siblings!” How does this work out for her? Both great and not great. She can’t bring herself to date a RainWing. ((Also she’s chunky and has trouble navigating the trees))

Half SkyWing? Firescales. But imagine they ALSO have fireproof scales; so the fire doesn’t uncontrolable leech through their scales like it does with full SkyWings, but if they sit in mud for a while it just... boils. Also imagine again, sibs relationship. What if twins were born as the bigwings? How would a group react to that? And imagine sibs flocking like birds. V formation.

Half SeaWing? Swamp dragon. Mud swimming. Extra powerful gills that can slowly filter air from mud, which is fine because of how long MudWings can hold their breath and how little air they need overall. Good night vision? Works perfectly for hunting in a dark cave of chest-deep mud. Imagine them breathing steam/hot water like a gyser.

NightWing? Camoflague master; top half blends with mud, bottom half is night sky black. Talking to sibs exclusively through mind-reading and being able to make split-second choices without needing to stop and discuss. Heavyweight ambush predators that can come from both below and above AND hunt in a group that can flank you while communicating silently. Terrifying.

SandWing? Poisonous tail barb on the end of a tail that can also be used as a club. Can hide in dry and wet areas. ALWAYS warm enough to breathe their fire. Wonderful colour range.

IceWing? Thick, spiky tails. Partially freeze mud as they swim through it. Can handle basically any temperature; breathing both ice and fire depending on their current body temp. And imagine how SHINY they could be. Strong and beautiful.

Can’t give ideas for Leaf/Hive/Silk hybrids coz I haven’t read the new books yet. But I imagine it wouldn’t be hard to come up with something haha

MudWings(especially MudWing hybrids) are like nonexistant in ocs!!! i'm all for 'make whatever ocs you want' but I just wanna see more MudWing/MudWing hybrid ocs ;-;
