Dark Elf Circle of Blood - 15mm Demonworld miniatures.

Can you believe that placing them around the Altar of Blood is not a viable option in the game? They'd count as disorganized and couldn't act beyond basic movement.

I'm still torn on the matter whether this unit makes sense at all. It's expensive and you need to buy slaves, too. That adds up to making this one of the most expensive units in the whole army list. Summoning can give you powerful units, but it's pretty likely that you may summon only a single one in a game.

Hey guys,

let me introduce you a little bit to one of my oldest OC - Hikari. She's for the Devil May Cry Franchise and even after more than 10 years, I am still working on & drawing her ^^

Hikari is a female Demon/ Human hybrid, who currently works as a Demon Hunter. The daughter of both a powerful Demon and an Demon/ Human hybrid, she has the appearance of a blackhaired woman.

Her father used to serve under the Demon Lord Mundus as a Commander and was unintentionally dragged into Sparda's rebellion, due to his friendship with him.

Branded a traitor, the Demon Hizkiah was forced to fight and flee alongside Sparda. He had watched as Sparda sealed off the Demonworld and while stranded in the Humanworld, he took the appearance of an asian man, named himself Naoki and began traveling the world, in an attempt to find a place for himself.

After wandering on Earth for nearly 2.000 years, the Demon who was formerly known as Hizkiah was happily married and father to three children - Two boys and one girl.

Hikari and her older brothers were born and grew up in Lakechester, a small city near Leicester. The family lived in harmony for nearly a decade, until Hizkiah (now known as Naoki) heard how his longest and oldest friend had suddenly vanished alongside his family.

Worried, Naoki used all his magical knowledge to protect his own family. Unfortunately, his magic could only protect himself and his family for so long until eventually, Mundus' army found them.

Naoki and his wife tried their best to protect and save their children, but both fell to Mundus' forces, trying to buy their children time to flee.

The siblings lost sight of each other and Hikari only managed to survive to onslaught because of a mysterious man suddenly appearing and holding the Demon horde off.

Not long after Hikari had lost it all, a woman who introduced herself as Rika approached her, offering to teach the young girl how to protect herself.

“I guess so.” Yeah, Ink is new to demon-related stuff. But it’s learning something new every day! 

Ink has never been to the Netherworld. Is that same thing with the other world is called the Demonworld where her devil, Vanity lives? Is Netherworld and Demon world same thing? It sounds like because humans always give the world where demons live different names. But besides that point, Ink wants to know what is an Overlord? 

When the other introduced himself as Laharl aka the Great Demon Overlord Larhal. She nods. Then he says that it means that he’s the strongest. This got Ink smiling as her grey eyes lit up. 

“Really?! That’s so awesome!” Ink said. “Even it’s the first time I heard of this Overlord thing but that sounds really cool! You must of train a lot to get where you are!” So Overlord means that they’re in the charge of the Netherworld. Like a king or president of the place. That must be very important job! Ink respects that. 

“Nice to meet you, Larhal! My name is Ink! Vanity ‘Ink’ Vanguard!” Ink introduces herself to the Overlord. “My friends call me Ink!”

This is actually curious... I feel like there's something to be said about this but my brain's currently in the process of shutting down. But I heartily enjoy when demonworld interacts with the human world. (makes me think; they described Lime as lowlevel a bit ago, yet she's the only one that's went out into the world by herself with a physical form...What else could higher demons possibly do?!)

I have no issues with rolling to issue movement orders. It seems to be a common thing in historical wargaming. In Demonworld, a fantasy wargame from around 2000, it often even depends on the units and where they are in relation to the enemy.

That said, Demonworld might as well be somewhere in the "worst possible" category. Take the rules for a follow up attack:

If you roll 5 below the (modified) to-hit score in close combat, an unit is allowed to have a second attack. Of course this only applies if it has the higher (modified) initiative (AND was actually able to attack first). Also it only applies to attack supported by no other unit.

Now if an unit as two attacks, it is never allowed to do a follow-up attack. Unless of course these two attacks have two different initiative values - or one the attacks is called something different than "attack".

Now tell me this isn't fun. It really is.

Currently, I have a few central concepts:

Individual mechs, units, and your overall army all have different stat systems. All of these affect each other.

Combat will be done on a grid, with effects mapped out by how many squares they extend to.

As many things as can be randomized should be.

Everything that can be rolled for will be, up to and including issuing an order for a unit to move.

Dark Elf priestess. There are three different characters in the game, but only one model. They didn't quite think this through, I suppose. Especially since the pack includes only two (identical) priestess models and two (identical) temple guards. And there's only one temple guard character. And for the highest priestess you need to put four Blood Sisters onto the base, which means you have to buy extra models.

not a question from the ask game but can you talk about eris and gaius’s relationship. smiles sweetly

YEAS I sure can. :] This is gonna go under a cut because this got a lot longer than I expected LOL

So Eris ended up in Garlemald as a baby. A bit of quick backstory first: Her father was from the Mol tribe, who fell in love with her mother who was from the Orl tribe. Since the Mol follow what their gods say, her father was told that when the Orl leave, baby Eris - birth name being Suvi - was to be given to her mother and leave with her. The gods also said that she was to be a fierce warrior, and as her mother was one, her father a humble conjurer, this was also for the best. And then we all know what happened to the Orl tribe.

Baby Eris ends up in Garlemald. She's given to Gaius, the first of his adopted children, and he absolutely struggled to pick a name for her for a good long time. Bizarrely, Solus offered a name: Eris. Gaius felt it fit, and it stuck. (Side note, Eris was also the name of her Azem, so Emet-Selch seeing in baby Eris that shard of Azem, that's why he chose that name. Eris will yell at him about this later.)

Gaius, like every military dad and I'm drawing on personal experience for that one, said well, if I have a child, then she's going to know how to fight. So from a very young age, as soon as she was able to hold a practice sword/weapon, training began in earnest, and Eris' entire life was built upon trying to make her this perfect soldier, this perfect weapon for Garlemald. Gaius cared about her, of course, and were father and daughter, but he was moulding his daughter to become a fearsome foe on the battlefield. He wouldn't send a child onto the field, not without permission, anyway. Eris proved herself very early on, as she was also raised to have no fear, no afterthought about what she was doing, to follow orders and not question them. She was THE perfect soldier.

There's also a lot to be said about Eris' friendship with Solus, and the covert missions he sent her on, and the attention he gave her. It wasn't so much Solus as it was Emet-Selch, given he had this shard of Azem so close to him, something Eris would also confront him about later, but her closeness with the Emperor made Gaius so proud. His daughter, that he raised and trained and worked tirelessly to make her better than anyone, was getting such amazing attention, lauded for her battlefield expertise, getting awards and admiration... Gaius, in turn, received some recognition for making Eris how she was, but first and foremost he was always proud of his daughter.

When she was 19, she was brought into the Legion that Gaius commanded, though every so often, with lessening frequency, Eris would go off on one of Solus' missions, which were kept between them, so Gaius never knew the details about a majority of them. In any case, things were fine and remained so until Eris went to Eorzea to act as a spy for the Empire, a more direct connection than The Ivy. Eris would not learn until later that it was Gaius' idea she do this, and Eris would turn her back on the Empire after the massacre at the Waking Sands. The confrontations between them were tense to say the least, with Eris telling him in Garuda's territory that Eorzea and its people were worth fighting for, and she would not be coming back to Garlemald. Then there was having to kill her former comrades, and Eris eventually defeating Gaius, thinking him dead when the Praetorium blew up.

Until they met again in The Burn, that is. Here is a brief excerpt of what happened once Eris saw him again:

Arriving in the Burn, he was the last person Eris expected to see. She thought him dead. Under rubble and ashes. Her eyes were wide, so wide one might think them liable to pop out of her head, her brows furrowed and together, fists clenched. 'Tis quite plainly the look of pure rage.

"Alisaie, take Alphinaud," Eris commanded. "Quickly."

It was a tone none of them had heard from Eris before, and it was downright frightening. Alisaie did as she was told before she hastily backed away.

He was likewise surprised to see her, and a bit sad. He always knew how the day they met again would go. "'Tis a day for reunions," he finally said.

When Eris charged at him he held his arms wide, knowing it was not for a hug. He would offer no resistance.

Eris leapt into the air and brought her fist down sharply against his cheek, sending him down and skidding a few feet. Hien cried out for her to stop, but she did not hear him, not with this fury pumping in her blood and shutting everything else out. She pounced on the man calling himself Shadowhunter, the man she always knew as her father. As Gaius. Her dark knight gauntlets would hurt.

Punches rained down upon his face as everyone stood by, helpless to stop her. She shouted at him all the while as Gaius did nothing to retaliate.

"You fucking bastard!" she roared with the anger of a thousand suns. "You lied to me about everything. Everything!" Eris gripped his shirt and pulled him up so their faces were close. "I hope you wish you were dead right now because when I am finished with you-" She threw him back down on ground and kept punching him, over and over. "I should have finished the fucking job when I had a chance to do so! I should have cut your head from your shoulders and paraded it around on my lance!"

"You had every right to do so," Gaius coughed, spitting blood to the side.

Another sharp punch to the face. "Shut up! You don't get to speak! I've had it with you and your words, your stories!" She pulled him up once more and it was clear Eris had broken a few things. "I hate you. I will always hate you," Eris seethed. "Nothing can change my mind about that. I wish you were fucking dead."

Gaius said nothing, merely bringing his hands to lay atop where Eris was holding him before she quickly released him, her lip curling. Looking at him he was bloody and heaving; she had done enough damage. She stood up and got off him, leaving him there to soak this moment in. After a moment or two passed Eris quickly changed to one of the many healing classes she had mastered and held her hand near his face, wounds closing but the blood still remained; she would leave it to Gaius to clean himself up.

So things are not great right now to say the least. I've yet to do the Werlyt quests with Eris, so I'll definitely have more to write about when we get there, things dealing with both Gaius AND the other children. (Though, I will never forget when Gaius went to shoot Valens I yelled "GAIUS, SMOKE THIS FOOL" and nothing can top that.)

While Eris is in the First and Gaius and Estinien are traveling buddies, which will never not be funny to me, Gaius does ask about how Eris is doing and Estinien, knowing absolutely nothing about their situation is saying, "Why. Why do you care. Why do you want to know about her." And Gaius has to fill the woefully uninformed Estinien about EVERYTHING. And Estinien is like huh. well. anyway she got married. Gaius has no idea what to say and thinks it's to Hien before Estinien tells him about Artoirel and who he is - yes that's my wolship for Eris I wrote 25k words about them I am deeply unwell about my wolships - and Gaius first says that Eris is doing well for herself but also rhetorically asks why he wasn't invited to the wedding and Estinien chews him out about it. Like oh you made your daughter into a living weapon? And lied to her about everything? And then tried to kill her later? Then kept the fact you're alive from her? You expect to be invited to her wedding??? You fool. You absolute buffoon. Gaius is like OKAY I GET IT. SHE ALREADY BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF ME IN THE BURN and Estinien says it was deserved and Gaius again says he knows.

But Eris and Artoirel are going to have a proper ceremony once everyone is back from the First and whether or not Gaius will be there............. we shall see. Regardless, Gaius still considers Eris his daughter, is still very proud of what she has accomplished, and still loves her very much. Eris is... not of the same mind, not when she realizes she still has family alive, her actual birth father being in the Mol tribe, so that was an eventful reunion. But also not after everything Gaius said and did. Eris does respect his desire to make amends, to atone for what he did, much like Eris also did, but she is not ready, if she ever will be, to forgive him.

"A what now?" Ink stares at Vergil incredulously. "As into the demon world...that's what you mean by Underworld, right? You're saying they build a door to go to the Demonworld?" Of course, Vergil means that but she didn't expect the answer to be that. A Hellgate?' That can't be, right? Right? If so...

"That's awesome!" As if she is not worried about complications of that matter. Still...building a gateway to the demon world otherwise known as Hell isn't a good idea. There are so many movies that explain why that's not a good idea. But why would they make one? There must be a reason. The answers could be obvious but she had to think. The old settlers are considered Protectors. So what are they protecting? The Hellgate?

"A common cause?" Ink said.

But would they make a gateway to the Underworld? Unless...

"Unless...they're like us." Ink murmured. She wonders how many years, decades, and centuries between the first inhabitants and everyone else today?! Are the people before demonblood youths like them? Or something else? Wyckoff is really old as it has a mix of ancient, old, and modern in one place. So when hearing that Vergil said it would be an experience to visit Wyckoff. Ink nods her head eagerly.

"You should! If anything, Jaron can take you there!" Ink smiles. She likes the idea of investigating the history of Wyckoff.

"It sounds like an archeology adventure!" She always imagines herself being in an action movie with some archeology so finding new information sounds good. "Wyckoff might seem a bit creepy when it gets foggy but it's a good place to be away from the city and stuff if you need a place to chill without the noise." Ink tells him.

She sees his meal is done as well just like her plates are now clean. What's left is her soda which she slurps up with a straw right now. Now nothing but leftover ice.

"Anyway! Thanks for the meal, Vergil! I'm glad you took me to this place." Ink then goes to get her wallet. Good thing, the feral demons didn't take it by mistake or she will be in trouble. She wonders how much the food is. She goes to take out some bills. This is a good way to return the favor.

For he, Vergil, wielded the incarnation and might of Death herself. By the hands of death he was awakened, to the embrace of death he was liberated, and from said embrace he soared higher than ever. Death has been a faithful companion to his existence, his bane and survival means simultaneously. Thusly his life was the epitome of the infamous writ: what doesn't kill one makes them stronger.

What could be more befitting than the killer in the dark being slayed by the Dark himself?

And yet despite his conviction were the truth to be revealed, he shall take heed of Ink's will upon the matter instead of marching blindly to challenge the night whose life was rightly belong to Ink as the one who nearly lost her own to, to judge.

The cambion thereafter began to enumerate the landmarks that Ink imparted to him: Old ruins and small houses that had been industrialized might fit the half-medieval and half-modern account of the island architecture. A historical tower that housed a huge monument underground with arcane symbols beneath, might it be none other than the old clocktower that conceals the access to the underground catacombs which span throughout the island? The classical latin incantation carved upon a big door was likely the entryway hidden deep within said catacombs whereby the Protector clan named themselves after.

“ It is likely a gateway to the Underworld, constructed by the previous inhabitants of the island, ” Vergil answered Ink in conclusion of her account above. One of the gateways, that was. “ The perpetual durance of this Hellgate, as it is often referred to, is but one of the goals as to why the Protectors clan was founded. They comprised of various tribes descending from the religious refugee that came to the island, amalgamating for a common cause. ” Or rather, enemy.

“ It would be an enriching experience to visit Wyckoff, ” he added as an afterthought, countenance alight with academic intrigue as he levelled his gaze with Ink's. “ Mayhaps we can compare our respective records pertaining to the island's history and derive a clearer conception. ” Taking into account that Ink's comrade, Hellmare, had been conducting her own research too in the background.

Vergil then descried of the empty plates in front of Ink, mirroring his own. Shall he take it as cue to conclude their impromptu repast and tête-à-tête?
