Do you think Edelgard perceives herself as a victim? I’ve been thinking and I can’t decide myself, on one hand she clearly hates the idea of people being victims or helpless, and constantly reframes the victims of the war as “necessary sacrifices” instead of, y’know, tragic causalities of a war she started. She plays up her sad backstory to try to get Byleth to join with her in WC, but then she does all these things to concentrate as much power as possible on herself. On the other (other) hand, she pushes the culpability of the war on everyone except herself, and has trouble taking accountability. She’s obsessed with controlling everything but she doesn’t want to be blamed for the problems she’s created. What do you think?

I find Supreme Leader hard to write because of this, but in a way, I believe that yes, she does.

However, for all the flak Faerghus gets for "ToXiC mAsCuLiNiTy" and "Chivalry BaD", there's something very toxic with the way some Adrestian victims (often women... blame the writers I guess?) deal with their abuse.

I'm not going to spend a lot of time on Doro because I already typed a lot about her, but while she still sees herself as a victim from what she endured and suffered in her childhood, she adopted the toxic mindset of "this suffering is a thing of the past and I grew from that/beyond that to become the person I am now" - which we can also see in Manu who suffered from, roughly, the same traumas.

Petra also follows this pattern, being a hostage and treated like shit, but she grow "beyond" her status of a victim to become the strong person she projects and believes she is - it's only out of House that she realises more accutely her status within the Empire, the reality of her situation and, in Houses, refuses vassalage to Adrestia to make her country independent without having to "ask the Emperor".

It's the same pattern : "I was a victim" but "I became strong" so "I am not a victim anymore, this is something of the past".

Applied to Supreme Leader...

Well, trying to ignore the Agarthans and her dad's own infuence on her character (which is kind of hard, since the games try their hardest to make Agarthans responsible for everything BaD and we're not clear on how much they had an influence on her), I think Supreme Leader believes she was a "victim" of abuse.

But - through further abuse and surviving said abuse - she became strong* enough to "not be a victim anymore".

Which is why her line of "if the weak remain weak it's their fault" feels like it echoes part of her mindset : she was a victim but became strong enough, maybe by hardening her own feelings to become "strong", so she is not the same helpless "victim" she once was.

If she managed to do that, then everyone can do the same.

As for the "necessary sacrifices", since early 2019 someone theorised that "the people" she pretends the fight for as seen as some general "concept", much like the "greater good". So if some people are sacrificed, it's for her ideals - the goal and aim of her newfound strength - , and it piles on her drive, she must realise them otherwise those people would have died (and she would have suffered) for nothing.

However, despite acknowledging her past self as a victim, and because she's now "strong", she's not above using her past trauma (but actually, still present! Remember the rat scene?) to reach her goals, because, at her core, Supreme Leader is soemone who is very determined. Maybe it's her only drive to grow beyond the trauma, or her own illusions, or a mix of everything, but AM made it clear, Supreme Leader is not above, well, using herself if it means seeing her goals come to fruition : unlike Lobotogard from AG, AM!Supreme Leader willingly transforms in Hegemongard.

This is the cost she's willing to pay, so while the memes about Lord Farqaad were on spot, I still think that Supreme Leader is ultimately willing to sacrifice** herself for her goal (but only when there's no other way to ensure her future will come to fruition, and in a way, I guess she thought she would survive the Hegemon transformation, jury's out on what she meant to do in AM's finale, but imo, she still tried, even beaten and battered as she was, to claim Dimi's head).

Ultimately I think everything's a bit muddled by the fact that, as @fantasyinvader pointed out, Supreme Leader is a liar and knows the importance of maintening good PR.

She lies and manipulates the truth to reach her goals (which again, is a red flag when CF claims to want to restore the "distorted history" of Fodlan!) and for all the flak I give them, the devs managed to scrap enough material to give us a peek in Adrestia's mindset (or at least its top nobles), they're not people who self reflect, they are salty because they aren't ruling the world anymore, and they feel like they are better than the rest of Fodlan.

Put everything in the mixer, and you indeed have Supreme Leader (but also her court, especially Ferdie in SB who dares to say, as he is invading and trouncing people who don't really like and accept the idea of being invaded, that the fear those people feel are only in their mind, or something like that? Like, dude, you're rolling over their people and country, of course they'll fear and hate you!) giving her weird rhetoric lines (why are people opposing me if they are going to die?), victim blaming (something Treehouse swallowed like honey, if their lolcalisation is anything to go by, remember, it's Rhea's fault for not offering her head on a platter that is the reason why the War continues in CF!) and so on.

IDK if the devs wanted to bank that much on the Dany parallel with her "if I look back i am lost", but again, I don't know if her drive to make a "better Fodlan" is motivated by her trauma, Adrestian revanchism, Ionius telling her dumb things or Agarthans agarthaning, but her goal and vision are everything to Supreme Leader.

So she will do anythign to see them realised, even if it means sacrificing her people, starting a war, tweaking "the truth" or using her own trauma to motivate and recruit powerful people who might assist her with her goals.

To reply to your question, IMO she sees herself as someone who had once been a victim, but won't let that stop her from reaching her goals, even if it means creating thousands of "hers" in the process, because, in her mind, reaching her goal is more important than anything else.

*I know, she refutes Dimitri's claim that she is "strong" or laughs at it, but imo, it was more in the sense of "I was weak and became strong" so everyone can "become" strong.

**I don't think she wanted to throw away her life, but more something in the lines of "putting my life on the line" or sacrificing her precious (and to see how precious it is, just play CF lol) humanity.

The words permeate throughout the Sand Creature's mind, waylaying his own thoughts just as effectively as if the other man who had given voice to them were flesh and blood, standing right next to him instead of the disembodied sentience that he currently was. Xenres would sigh, only he'd end up with sand in his mouth.

Glowing eyes squinting against the onslaught of dirt and debris, one structure stands out among the others, a vague shape in the worsening storm, yet still discernibly a large stable; the front of the building left wide open but deep enough to offer shelter from the elements to the animals presumably inside.

An easy entrance makes for an easy exit, and Xenres quickly ducks around the corner, getting off the streets and out of the path of the gale. It's precisely what one might expect; a series of stalls lined up along one wall, with miscellany to care for the horses scattered about. Only the stalls are empty. Idle steps carry him farther in, the Sand Creature offering a quiet response to the personality in his head, spoken aloud: "Yes, well. You, of all people, know you can't control a sandstorm."

A seemingly innocuous enough comment, judging by the moment of silence from the other, it's taken as anything but. "A shame that it isn't something harmless, then, like rain— oh, wait."

At that, it's Xenres' turn to stare, unamused, at the various tools on the wall in front of him, although before he can quip back, another presence is suddenly felt in the center of the room behind him. Body tensing, he wheels around, fully anticipating to find an arrow or sword aimed at his face.

The orange petals hit the wooden floorboards as Izumi vomited them up. They were large and almost flecked, a flower he hadn't been familiar with until this had started to happen to him.

Until he'd fallen.

Until he'd apparently lost his chance at love by destroying the one person that mattered. The leader he had been devoted to. Until he'd metaphorically stuck his own sword in his back.

He cursed at the thought, almost choking on petals as his stomach finally seemed to settle. The convulsions stopped and he just sat there, his breathing ragged, surrounded by petals in an almost empty room.

He supposed he should be glad that it was just flowers.

He picked up one of the alstoemeria petals up, staring at it silently for a few moments. He'd have to clean this up soon before any of the others woke up.

They had work to do today. The local witches had finally agreed to a meeting and if they were going to get back at the heavens, they were going to have to get moving.

Pushing himself to his feet, he went to go get a broom. Next time he'd stay in his room until he was certain that he wasn't going to start throwing up again. But for now, he'd just have to be quick.

But apparently not quick enough as Izumi heard a crack on the floorboards and could see Leo's door opening up.

It was way to early in the morning when Leo woke up, his eyes barely open to see if he could catch eye of the grey hair so he could call back asleep. Instead he found it empty.

Remembering that they didn’t share a room, he forced himself up. Just to calm his nerves that he hadn’t been left behind.

So slowly he rose from the bed, drabbing a blanket over his shoulders. Pushing the door open with his elbow.

There he stood, already up.

“Sena?” There was flowers everywhere, not that Leo could think of a reason as he went through his head.

“Who are you trying to woo? If you are gonna invite a girl home before you.. we are going back to heaven, can you at least warn me so I am not home?”

A tired yawn left him. he had to stay awake, even if the bed sounded really comfy.

But perhaps seeing Izumi and spending time with him these last few hours.

It wasn’t for nothing the witches had agreed to a meeting, for Leo had went behind Izumis back. Going through the process of a sacrifice.

As long Izumi was happy it was worth it.

Ko is able to control plants and talk to animals like his adoptive father Haruki and he is sun resilient like his adoptive mother, Akari. Some see Ko as a demi-forest spirit now. (he also has an extra set of eyes under his normal ones(kind of like angel dust, but there's only 2 extra)

(since he not a serph, once the eyes fully form it can be, disorienting for him since he isn't used to it)

( he would have a messed up halo if he ever got one)

(he can actually get an extra set of mini wings on his elbows and ankles but they would be normal ones)

The last thing he remembered was Luffy's face. He swore he had felt his heart stop and before he lost all his senses he swore he heard something. He assumed Luffy but he didn't have time to feel guilty before he just knew he was well and truly dead.

So it begged the question of why the hell and where the hell he was. He opened his eyes to see a thatch roof as he laid on a firm surface. As he felt around he felt fabric, sheets. Why was he laying on sheets?

Reaching up his hands rested on his chest only to realize two things; there was no hole in his chest and he felt 5 small points gently pressing into his skin. Pulling his hand up over his face he realized that his once normal nails had grown just a little longer than his nails had ever grown before and were pointed at the tips?

Pulling the same hand up to run his fingers through his hair as his mind barely registered something else until his thumb hit something hard at the side of his head. Sitting up he felt a weight there on his back that hadn't been there before.

Climbing out of bed it was impossible not to notice the weight even more. He almost thought he was lucky when he found a mirror tucked into the corner of a crowded room full of primal but lavish furniture.

Until he looked into that mirror and found a pair of ram horns on either side of his head and a pair of large fleshy, featherless wings on his back.

"My lord?" He didn't have time to give it time to set in before he heard a voice from behind him. Instinct telling him to turn around and see just who the hell was behind him, and to say he was thrown through a loop when say Luffy's navigator dressed in furs and leather would be an understatement.

"Nami?" He asked, hoping he remembered her name right.

"Of course, who else would it be." Not Nami said, putting a hand on her hip and giving him a dirty look. "Since your awake care to explain what the hell was that about? It took us an hour to get Luffy to stop crying after you didn't immediately wake back up! I swear. Anyway we still need to check on the hostage so come on."

Nami turned on her heel about to walk away but he stopped her dead in her tracks when he asked, "but where are we? I'm supposed to be dead."

Nami turned on her heel back to stare at him. It was dead and cold. For a second he thought she was about to hit him before she coolly said, "that isn't funny. And don't say that in front of your brother, now come on."

With no other choice he followed through a entire village, no fortress of wood and thatch houses surrounded by a tall stone wall. They wandered what could have been only a few buildings down before they reached the center, a huge building that towered over every other home or building and elaborately decorated and painted.

Nami showed him in and back to a room behind a thrown on a raised altar. In that room he saw someone he never expected to see again, bound in chains attached to a wall.

"Vivi?"

She feels fussy. So she must give Lucifer and Diavolo kisses!! She loves them so much!!

Diavolo be chuckling of the fussy wife and Queen when Dez was giving kisses, happy dragon noises while returning the numerous kisses in earnest.

Lucifer on the other hand be shaking his head yet smiling of such fussing before returning kisses as well, as if he would let Diavolo be the only one giving kisses and just pinching at the wife's face after a bit to chuckle of the fussing.
