#deltarune alter3

Tryna figure out how the player will work in Alter3 + how to indicate their actions and I think I got an idea.

Ignore the poor quality it's a phone doodle but I think the point comes across.

In game there are actions that Kris is more likely to take, I imagine this feels alot more comfortable to Kris, sometimes to the point they don't even notice it isn't their own action. (Sometimes they're even like "am I even being possessed or did I just gaslight myself"). These actions are indicated by the half soul half asterisk. It's something Kris would have done anyway.

The full soul indicator is taking an action Kris would not have taken and often actively dislikes (something as simple as hugging Ralsei, or something as extreme as Snowgrave)

Then the asterisk + brackets indicator is Kris' thoughts. They're not visible to the player and not audible to anyone else. They're probably just gonna be used as an insight into Kris during the comic.

I imagine the soul isn't actively malicious. They're very curious, and don't really understand Kris but they're not evil. (In this AU they've spared every enemy, no snowgrave here, not even in other saves). But they also prioritise their own self interests. They're a HUGE Ralsei fan and will dote on him every opportunity given (much to Kris' dissatisfaction). Overall Kris isnt happy with them but is kinda glad they don't seem evil. They're playing nice and Kris just kinda hopes they keep it up and leave soon.

Doesn't stop Kris from hating them though.

[FIRST] [<- PREV] [NEXT ->] (These don't work yet because this is the test post) The very first page of alter3! Ok that's a lie. This is my "test comic" to see if all the style choices are meshing well. I think my backgrounds could use some work but, eh, its good enough. Hopefully soon alter3 will enter full production!

If you're interested in the AU please send any asks about general lore stuff! I wont be able to answer story specifics but stuff like "why is it called alter3" and "what the fuck is everyone wearing" and "what do the heart icons mean?" will all be answerable.

FLUFFY BOI COMPLETE!!!! Ralsei has been rehatted for lore reasons AND also cos I just think the hat is cute. Think I'm gonna draw up a "test comic" to see how the style flows before setting into the full comic.

Cant sleep so I'm working on my Alter3 Susie design. I love the idea of physically showing what items each character has equipped so that means I have to make refs for the fungang so I don't forget! Susie has the Tension Bow and Spike Band as her items but FUN FACT Susie already has multiple spike bands! But I REALLY wanted to make her unique so I ended up making the Spike Band a Spiked Choker/Collar. She wears it as well as the Tension Bow cos it "Makes her look less of a nerd" Also super proud of the Auto-Axe design! I imagine the blade is detached and when used in battle vibrates to deal extra damage (I think it would be cool if it worked like a cast saw on steroids, cutting through armours and hard materials with relative ease while leaving soft squishy flesh about as safe as it would be being hit by an axe that doesn't vibrate)

Unfinished comic I did for my Deltarune AU. Alter3. This is meant to be the Secret Boss fight with "Mike"

I still really like the ideas behind this. And I think alot of it stands up really well too. I just don't think its ever gonna get finished so might as well post it now

Meet Mike! He's one of my Deltarune OC's for an AU called Alter3 (it's an alternate chapter 3, hence the name lol)

He's a fairly important character to the story, acting as the original motivation for the main antagonist, and the secret boss.

He's one of my favourite characters I've designed, he's somewhat based off photoshop Flowey with the cables behind him, and I think it adds a really fun silhouette.

Lining the first page of alter3 and I already hate it. I decided, on the fly, "I should reference some gauntlets" so now I have to design Kris some gauntlets. AGHH. I have to admit tho it looks way better than it would have otherwise. (Also had to draw this design in their ref which took a while)

Here's the sketch for comparison, it looks way better with the gauntlet. Still questioning my choice on the hand close up despite the fact i hate hands.

Colouring test for Alter3's characters + Background. This test background was traced from the sims cos I'm lazy and its just a test but it meant Kris' angle didn't match whoops. Its also mainly meant to just be a design ref for Kris since I'm drawing the characters with their equipment on. I think I'm gonna go through with this style, but I'll probably have to do another test to figure out of the bgs look good with the character art when the characters are actually aligned to the background.

Rare cloakless Chairiel moment

want to write some dialogue between ralsei and one of my deltarune ocs

"Oh Ralsei, my baby brother, the kindest person in the world... Could you find it in your heart to forgive me?"

"... No"

After the boss fight with Chairiel, Chairiel tries one last ditch effort to get back into the fun gangs good books and tries apologising for all his actions. But he isn't doing it because he's sorry, he just expects that saying a few words will make everyone forgive him, because even still, he believes that everything revolves around him, and that he knows better than anyone how the world works. As such, he's hugely taken aback when his "Kind, caring, innocent, baby brother" says that he'll never forgive him.

God Chairiel sucks. Why do all the ocs I have for this au suck.

"You. How could you do this to me. Your own brother. Why... Why couldn't you JUST. STAY. DEAD."

Susie takes a step forward. "Hey what's deal asshole? Ralsei didn't do shit-" "That's exactly the point. He hasn't done anything with his pathetic little life and he STILL gets to be the important one. It should have been ME. I'M the one who spent all that time practicing and studying. I'M the one who knew what he was doing. Yet HE gets to be the 'prince from the dark'? The one helping the heroes? It's not fair!" Chairiel takes a step forward towards the group. "Yet here we stand. Despite the fact I deserved it more, I'm left to the wayside. Only one role left for me in this story. The villain. So dearest brother. Bring it on. Show me why YOU get to be one of the heroes" Battle starts. The music swells. The taste of sulfur fills the air. CHAIRIEL blocks your path to the fountain.
