I just realised that, with the 9 years between inquisition and veilguard, delphine will be deep in her mum era, with three school aged children (an 8 year old and two twin 5 year olds)
daewen, meanwhile, has lovers across thedas (including briala, the puppetmaster behind the orlesian throne) but nothing serious because she (begrudgingly) can't get past solas

There are not enough words in any language for me to thank the lovely @faelavellan for this beautiful commission of Delphine and Cullen -- she's incredibly talented and so lovely to work with, I believe her commissions are still open so definitely check her out if you’re in the market for beautiful art!
Originally there wasn’t a scene to accompany the piece but after seeing the finished version I couldn’t not write it into their story.
Home
Del had not realized how comfortable she had become at Skyhold until they were getting ready to return home from the Emerald Graves. Of course, she always missed the luxury of a warm soft bed and a roof over her head when she went traveling with El and the others, but now it was more than a place to lay her head. Skyhold was a place they could call their own now-after hours of picking out furniture and decorations after months of renovations- not just the Inquisition’s but theirs, all of their friends and companions. It was home. Something she had not had not had in a very long time. Now, she was getting to share her home with her brother. Riding up to the gates with Ralf felt right. Delphine was not sure how she could thank Cullen properly for reuniting them, for giving her a little piece of her family back.
Cullen. She’d missed him even more than she’d missed Skyhold. All those long nights spend at camps, longing for their chess games and late-night talks. Varric had caught onto her pining, as usual. There was no end to the grief he gave her for acting like a love-sick teenager over the ex-templar. Ralf had been none too happy to hear about her budding relationship with the ex-templar, true to his nature as an older brother, but on their return trip had confided that he was happy to see she was happy. Del was excited to introduce them, she couldn’t imagine Ralf would have any problems with Cullen once they finally met. That would have to wait though.
Elazar and Varric shouted jeers as Del nearly jumped off her horse as they neared the stables. All she wanted was to get back to her rooms and take of her Maker forsaken armor that reeked of horse. Any other day she’d have taken the time to wash away the grime of her travels but it had been a whole month since she’d last been in his arms. She could deal with the sweat and grime later, Del wouldn’t delay any longer.
Throwing on the first shirt and skirt she found, Del decided to forgo rummaging around for a sweater and didn’t bother re-braiding her hair before she dashed across the rotunda to Cullen’s office. She didn’t bother knocking, slipping in only to find his desk vacant.
“If you’re looking for the Commander, I believe he’s in the gardens.”
Del nearly jumped out of her skin, not having noticed the agent filing papers in the corner of the office.
“Oh… ah-thanks. I’ll go look for him there then…”
She did her best to ignore the smug grin that spread over the other woman’s face as Del made her hasty exit. Varric would be gleaning more gossip from the barracks tonight for sure.
Solas was merciful and didn’t comment as Del crossed back through the rotunda, though the smile he sent her made Del think that maybe he understood, even if just a little.
The garden was mostly empty when Del arrived, two chantry sisters were tending to the rose bushes, Kieran was nestled into a quiet corner, a large book spread across his lap, and Cullen was standing outside the makeshift chapel, deep in discussion with one of Leliana’s agents. Del mustered up what will she had left to keep herself from dashing across the yard to him. She briefly wondered if he felt the same anticipation she did at the prospect of her coming home to him.
He notices her as she’s halfway across the garden, their eyes locking over the agent’s shoulder. Cullen waves the man away, grin growing, and closes the distance between them.
“I didn’t realize you were back,” he swept his arm wide as if to embrace her but Del had other ideas. Sliding a hand behind his neck she quickly pulled him down to her, pressing her lips against his smile. He stilled for just a moment, startled at her forwardness maybe, before he melded against her. One gloved hand settling on the small of her back, pressing her up against his chest plate while his chapped lips moved against hers. Del hummed, eyes fluttering shut, as his other hand settled against her hip. Oh how she had missed this; missed his warmth, his earthy smell and the way he seemed to surround her when he held her in his arms. Cullen nipped at her bottom lip as she pulled away for air, smiling as he kept her pressed against him.
“If that’s how it's going to be after every trip, Maker, maybe you should venture out with the Inquisitor more often,” Cullen chuckled, pressing chaste kisses across the apple of her cheek. He’d let his stubble go an extra day or so, Del giggled at the prickling feeling ghosting over her skin, following the trail of his lips.
“Maybe-” Del pressed a quick kiss to his scar- “but a month is much too long.”
“I agree,” his lips slanted against hers, drawing Del back in. Her fingers tangled in the hair at the nape of his neck as his grip on her grew tighter.
She was content again, with his arms around her. The Maker could take her now and she’d die a happy woman.

Senior Enchanter Delphine Trevelyan (b. 8:98 Blessed) was a former member of Ostwick’s Circle. When the other Circles rose in rebellion, Delphine was eager to follow - but the First Enchanter was not. Eventually, the Templars sought to carry out the Rite of Annulment regardless of the Circle’s neutrality, and everyone was forced into rebellion.
Along with most of the other senior Enchanters, Delphine went to the Conclave to discuss the Mage Rebellion with no intent to settle for anything shorter than full freedom. Of course, things went wrong - since when did they not?

Words for Calm Liner Notes: Names
Beneath the cut are some explanations of how I named the original characters from Words for Calm, because I wanted to share that!
Ev: On the one hand, I generally prefer to use the default names of the player characters. On the other hand, Evelyn Trevelyan is a terrible, terrible name. On the gripping hand, the Eve-derived name suggested a thematically appropriate motif for a story about escaping from a prison of authoritarianism and toxic religion. My compromise was to give her a distinctive nickname. I like Ev because it's tomboyish, and because it puts me in mind of my very favorite fairy tale from my childhood, an episode from the Oz books: the captive princes and princesses of the Land of Ev, all with names beginning with E-V-, transformed into decorative objects, and the key to breaking their curse is recognition and a touch and the invocation of that name. As a cultural touchstone, it's a lot less universal than the Garden of Eden, but I like it all the more for that. This is, after all, a very personal story.
Pauline: An Orlesian style name, with all the implications that brings about her Marcher parents and the way they likely raised her. I also considered Delphine, which connotes royalty through its phonetic and etymological closeness to Dauphine, but I decided that as far as out-of-universe resonance goes, I preferred the saint name. When I'm in a blasphemous mood — which is usually — I like ragging on Paul the Apostle for waltzing in late to the party and declaring he knew how to be a Christian way better than all the other Christians he had until recently been engaged in murdering. So, that's... fitting. (On a related note, though not really deserving of her own entry, Sister Thomasina was the first minor character I named, since chapter ten was the first chapter I wrote, and she also gets a saint name. People tend to invoke Doubting Thomas as though Jesus didn't respond to his doubt by giving him exactly the evidence he asked to see, and as though the moral of that story is "don't ask stupid questions".)
Belinda: Out of all the major characters, her name took me the longest to settle on. One of my earliest ideas for this story was that Trevelyan smuggling in a copy of Tale of the Champion and having it discovered and stolen by a rival of hers was going to cause a controversy that would provide a spark for the uprising. This developed into the concept of a pivotal scene involving Ev and the then-still-unnamed Belinda with a forbidden book in a walled-in garden. So, I wanted a name evocative of snakes, and was surprised and a little disappointed that Belinda was the only girls' name I could find with "serpent" as an etymological root, since it doesn't sound snake-y. I considered a wide variety of more sibilant names, but Belinda grew on me and eventually won out. Which is also kind of thematically appropriate.
Nenaril: It's supposed to mean "joy in rebellion" or "joyous rebellion" in Elvhen, though I was working off of a database compiled by a fan I later learned had questionable methods and motives. Still, I'm fond of it.
Martin: He's not a particularly deep character, and the whole concept behind him can basically be summed up as "fantasy protestant". I wanted to go with Calvin, but apparently that only became a given name, historically, for the very same reason that I wanted to use it as one here, which made it a bit too on the nose. (Another minor-character-naming note: Andrea got her name because, with all of the Christianity-related names, I figured someone in this story ought to have a name relevant to their own, in-universe religion. The fact that she was raised by people who stuck her with that is also a hint as to why she's running with Ser Martin.)
Sofia: This one was easy. It's an homage to the Aeon Sophia of Gnostic heresy, with a Rivaini style twist on the spelling. My only reservation was that the phonetic similarity to Lydia might create some confusion, since that's the name of the only other Enchanter in the story and the one name that comes from canon and is thus unchangeable. Comments have confirmed that absolutely did become a problem, but it's hard to have regrets when the thematic significance is so damn perfect.
Viola: Not a lot of hidden significance to this one, which is appropriate enough, since Viola is one of the few characters who is exactly what they seem to be. I have always found Violet-derived and Lily-derived names especially pretty and romantic-sounding, which gave me a laugh later in life when I learned that both flowers are sapphic symbols.
Leona and Jeffrey: All the canon information we have about Inquisitor Trevelyan's immediate family is that they're the youngest of at least three siblings, which meant that I had to come up with names and personalities for two older kids. It occurred to me that any attempt I made at writing about three high-blooded siblings with a fucked up family dynamic was on some level going to be a Lion in Winter homage, so I might as well start from there and work outward. I wanted Leona to be a girl, and there's no obvious way to feminize the name Richard (belatedly, it occurs to me that Riona would have worked, but oh well), so I went with a reference to the Lionheart moniker instead. Then I just picked an alternate spelling of Geoffrey.
Lillian: Phonetically similar to Lilith, the "bad" woman who came before Eve and was largely forgotten. Also a derivative of Lily, with all the attendant connotations of water and death (and, as mentioned above, of another trait that might make a girl "bad" enough for her family to murder her).
