We spent some time at a quiet little park and enjoyed the spring weather. While there, I made friends with this pretty guy. We gave him a handful of grapes and 2 veggie straws. I kinda felt like I was cheating on my murder. 馃槀 #crow #crows #crowsofinstagram #corvid #corvids #corvidsofinstagram #DelgadoHouseBirds #PNWCorvids #PNWbirds https://www.instagram.com/p/CbURh5KOJ2g/?utm_medium=tumblr

Trickster. Joker. Thief. Prankster. Bully. Animated. Vocal. Playful. Mischievous. Sadly, these birds are some of the most despised birds in the Pacific NW. They are forceful and aggressive, eat just about anything, including infant birds of other species, and don't coexist very well with their neighbors. Their voices are loud, harsh, and unmusical. They are also highly intelligent. The brain-to-body mass ratio of adult scrub jays rivals that of chimpanzees and cetaceans, and is dwarfed only by that of humans. They are family oriented, and fiercely protective of their family, and their space. I don't mind them coming to my feeders and stealing my peanuts. I love watching them. When looking in their eyes I love how you can see their personality. Each one is unique. :) #californiascrubjay #corvid #scrubjaysofinstagram #DelgadoHouseBirds #bluejay #peanutthief #pnwbirds https://www.instagram.com/p/Cal04MBLcq_/?utm_medium=tumblr

This was a new crow. I hadn't seen him around before. From the feathers around his face, he looks pretty young. The other birds seem more polished, and his feathers seem more soft, and fuzzy. I'm no expert, but he may have been a super early baby this year, or really late baby from last year. I'll have to research to see if crows have a set "season" for babies and mating. This one was fairly curious and spent most of it's time watching the Juncos and the other group of crows. I never saw him come down to eat. #PNWbirds #crows #corvid #corvids #crowsofinstagram #corvidsofinstagram #DelgadoHouseBirds https://www.instagram.com/p/CaTMhjXpzKJ/?utm_medium=tumblr

I haven't been seeing the murder a whole lot since time change. Today when I got home, they were all here, and they invited a new friend. . . #murderofcrows #crowsofinstagram #corvidsofinstagram #crows #crow #corvids #graysquirrel #PNWbirds #pnwwildlifephotography #DelgadoHouseBirds https://www.instagram.com/p/CZ5hyZ0JZ7n/?utm_medium=tumblr

I've finally finished my neice's photos. I'm super excited to share them, but want to get through my backlog of birding shots. 馃槉 These were taken in the last week of January when we had some sunny, but chilly mornings. Since putting up the new feeder I've noticed the dark-eyed Juncos don't seem to like eating in a feeder. They seem to like eating from the ground more. They will line up in the trees and wait. Eventually a California Scrub Jay will dive in and grab up all the peanuts, and in doing so will throw the seeds onto the ground. Then all the juncos come in and eat from the ground. #darkeyedjunco #darkeyedjuntoofinstagram #pnwbirds #backyardbirding #DelgadoHouseBirds https://www.instagram.com/p/CZ3LAYdrG9k/?utm_medium=tumblr
