Oni ni Kanabo! (my first time experimenting with physical screentone!!)
I thought the rough media look suited her(the manga master) for this one so intentionally left parts of the original sketch... but here's some cleaner scans anyway!

...and also a photo of her on my work table!!

Omg, I can't believe my previous doodles had a lot of positive interactions with both reblogs and likes! 👀 That's insanely surreal to me! Seriously, thank you!!! 😭💚 So...
Here is the other page of Kafka doodles on my sketchbook! I included the whole spreadsheet of sketches cause it looked neater.
Anyway, I did some different expressions with his kaiju/human forms, and a few of them were definitely a pain to ink, lol. But because Kafka is soooo expressive, it's genuinely just a lot of fun, and it made me love this silly man more! 🤗

what trad supplies do you use :0 inking is hard ...
i use dip pens bc i get basically all my inking inspiration from manga. so all my recent drawings were done with either a G nib or a Maru nib, i like both but im in love with the sketchiness of the maru. i just use any black india ink, and any pencils will do for the sketching part. make sure you have smooth paper for the dip pens but i dont go for like "manga paper" or anything specifically meant for these pans, i find that multimedia or drawing paper works just fine, just dont get anything too textured. i found the dip pens to just be very very satisfying to use. id recommend getting some and just scribbling and hatching and drawing fun shapes to get used to it. the nib you get can make a really big difference though, ive used some random speedball nibs before and even the same nib shapes felt really really different from one another. the american ones would scratch up my paper and spray ink sometimes and it was really annoying. all the japanese ones ive used are so much smoother, drawing with the Deleter Maru nib feels like a dream. it was very very hard starting out but it really wasnt very long ago that i started! you can and will improve if you find a tool that you enjoy using. Jetpens.com will hook you up.

Okokokok. I left out some details of Maddie’s character. So here they are!
Maddie was the golden child. She always did what she was told, and usually was found studying.
Maddies abilities consist of telekinesis, shape-shifting and one thing that my friend came up with, she can create flowers anywhere she wants. Technically Isabelle Madrigal from Disney's Encanto, but any flower she creates is deadly poisonous. She hasn't used this power for over a year.
After Vivi self deleted, she went to live with her Aunt, Annabella.
She may seem at a healthy weight, but she's losing it very fast. She refuses to eat if she's anxious. The most you'll ever see her eat is microwavable ramen and an energy drink.
Her main weapon, which is a sword, was made our from a antique katana Vivi (@sanityshorror) had. She modified it with her power to make it usable in combat.
She's very skilled at physical fighting as well. Rarely uses it, but she can still do it.
Another thing she absolutely loves is anime. Both Vivi and Devlin (@scarfaxia) introduced her to anime so she reads manga and watches it whenever she has the time.
Her hair is greasy bc the black ink her hair turns into when she's anxious leaves mildew and depris in her hair.
She was SAd. So she doesn't like exposing her body.
She's Autistic and Bi-Polar. It didn't show until after Vivi died.
Like Julius (@sanityshorror) she was put in a mental facility. When she was 12. She was put in there because Annabella didn't know how to deal with her mental breakdowns and her mental state. Although she didn't really have the worst experience there, but it still traumatized her. Nobody in the town knows this bc she does a good job of hiding it.
I think that's all. Bye!

If you're from Germany and a traditional artist like me (and live really rural haha), J-Stuff sells all kinds of Japanese Manga equipment. I've been ordering ink, paper etc from them for years. (They also sell deleter screentones but they were sold out when I ordered.)

Hallo! I really, truly adore everything about your art: the faces are so incredibly expressive (yamato and kakashi always look so kind), the line art is clean and fascinating, and the way you use watercolors is just, I'm in utter awe. (Especially metal?? just, wow). I was also wondering what kind of pen and ink you use for line art? I've been having trouble finding good water-proof pens and your stuff always looks amazing.
hallo!
thank you for such a kind message!!! i take a lot of pride in my lines so i'm glad that you enjoy them!
i'll try to answer ur supplies question to the best of my ability, but if there are any other questions u have abt my supplies not answered here, you may find answers in my tag for this kinda stuff, #my ninja tools and scrolls
I've tried a lot of inks, but when it comes to Truly Waterproof ink that I can watercolor over, I only really get one ink: Dr Ph. Martin's Bombay Black india ink it comes in 1oz bottles, and is usually what I use. it can be a little expensive though, at about 6-7 dollars a bottle, but it lasts a long time.
as for pens? I use dip pens! india ink would clog up any fountain pen really quickly, and probably fuck them up for good. plus, i love the variety of pen nibs I can use with dip pens.
everyone has their own preferences, but my first set came from speedball's drawing and mapping sets, and I really liked them! i have a video where i demonstrate w/ a couple of their nibs here
A lot of people get started with the "Deleter" manga pen nibs, and those are really good too. They tend to get much thinner, more even lines, where the speedball pen nibs tend to flex a little more.

I recently bought some old manga off of Ebay (i think the translated title is Who's That Girl?), just to look at the art basically. I'm just really curious though, and maybe the answer is simpler than I think, but how did they manage to make the eyes so detailed? I get that as an artist, you learn how to be very precise, but some of this seems almost too precise. Is it like deleter manga ink or some variation of it?

Alcohol marker and ink practice
Done sometime in late May, while working on some art challenge piece (which I will unveil soon as part of some fandom challenge I'm interested in joining in. Hehe)
Brushing off my long-neglected marker coloring skills with sample manga-styled portraits. Thought I have neglected it for months, but man glad I didn't! Love love how the layers of colors made the artwork pop! 11/10 will do it again!
Materials used: Copic alcohol markers, Zig Kurecolor markers, Copic multiliners (in sepia and brown), Zig Super Black ink, Tachikawa G nib and school nib, Deleter Type B paper (I cut them into post card size lol)
