July 4th, 2018
We drive around the valley,
Singing in the car with windows down.
A cool day: in contrast to the ones that came before.
Possible metaphor for my own life,
The worst of times followed by the best.
We watched the sunset at Ashland,
But missed the fireworks in Piedmont.
Reminds me of not acting in the now,
Holding her hand, telling her I love her.
And at this moment,
This very moment,
I feel alive.
We lay next to each other in the middle of a tennis court
It’s past 11, but the court is still warm from the day.
Even though my mental state continues to deteriorate.
I feel more and more lost in the infinite sadness.
At this moment,
This moment of some spectacular now.
With her head on my shoulder,
Rubbing my chest.
Numbering the stars and setting off smoke bombs.
Kissing as explosions fire off all around us.
Like an artillery barrage at the Somme.
I feel like I am the happiest I’ve ever been.

I am back on my Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil nonsense and I have to say, no canon ship will ever hit me in the way that Kendall/Ronaldo did.
Tumblr media
I am so incredibly in love with the vibe that is "Two absolute NERDS are head over heels for each other and go out of their way to do nice things for each other" - supporting each other in presentations, remembering each other's birthdays, arranging dinner for each other, covering for the other in front of the principal, gasping in horror when the other gets in trouble - "but as time passes, the viewer gets to watch the slow unraveling of one of them secretly falling out of love with the other but not being emotionally ready to admit it yet." That is incredible.
Tumblr media
I adore the K/R ship because it lasted so long and it was never considered a big deal. It was just "Yeah, they're dating. They do dating people things. Literally no one is jealous of them and no one ruins their social life. Keep scrolling." It was mainly in the background and they were adorably obsessed with each other up until they weren't. And again, that was that. No explosive break-ups, they were just... sweethearts.
Ronaldo gushing over Kendall's Halloween presentation instead of going trick-or-treating is my everything. He adores her.
Tumblr media
Diagnosed with loving his girlfriend disease.
Tumblr media
They are a TEAM!! Do not separate them!!
The "show, don't tell" between them with the way they behave is fantastic. Kendall went spelunking for cave sap so her boyfriend would have a nice birthday present AND she took him out to dinner. Ronaldo brings her "educational chocolates." He writes poems for her in binary code. He supports his girl during class elections even when she's frustrated and snippy with him.
Tumblr media
He went to her Delaware Awareness Month party. He brought a sign that said "I've been to Dover." He came back for Poster Awareness Month. He's so supportive and she's so silly. Kendall's wild and she seems like she should be the "popular girl" trope but she is actually just a massive nerd who likes algebra and stocks and I love her.
I love Ronaldo hiding in a cabinet and Kendall spinning her wheels to distract the principal so he won't get busted for sneaking into the office. Ronaldo went out of his way to be nice to his rival and learn new skills so he could impress her. They're so good.
They are not even main characters and we still got scenes of them being adorable, as a treat. Kendall literally calls him "the dark one." That's hilarious. They lean together and whisper in the hallway like goofballs. Then they scamper off to hide in the AV closet with papers covered in doodles and poems, being romantic little NERDS!!
Tumblr media
This scene's funny because they weren't even holding hands a few seconds ago- they just grabbed for each other when they realized they weren't alone. Apparently the canon is that they were a thing for a while before this episode and I think that's beautiful. Just... out there living their best off-screen lives. Love that for them.
imo we need more media that plays puppy love relationships with all the adorable sweetness of potentially being endgame even if they're NOT intended to be endgame. I'd like to see more kids' cartoons showing that it's okay to have a good time with someone else, and you don't have to grow up to marry the first person you dated... It's okay to consider your options... It's okay to date and have fun and explore your feelings and like people and then go your separate ways and not be endgame. I wish I had more of that.
Tumblr media
I've binged Kick Buttowski multiple times- it's a good pick-me-up and it's one of my silly faves. I really like the character relationships in it. It's got a down-to-earth contemporary vibe despite being all about action. It has one of the truest "We really are best friends who support each other through everything" friendships I've ever seen. It's got pathetic noodle rich boy Gordie. It's got Mouth, king of the shopping mall after-hours. It's got Emo Kid who's... Emo Kid. It's got Brad and Brianna... It's got Ronaldo/Kendall... They're all hilarious.
It's got Kick learning to respect his identity as Clarence the caring big brother as much as his identity of Kick the daredevil. It's got Kick protecting Ronaldo for a week because Kick's his understudy who desperately does not want to be Romeo in the school play. It's got the line "Let's go down to Foreshadow Park! Somehow I knew we'd all end up there." It's got the bee of the month club sending free samples in the mail, when will I ever be this funny.
It's goofy and fun to watch and that's why it's this week's Recommendation Wednesday <3

absolutely batshit things about the Rosetti family (an artistic family of pre-raphaelites who thought ) that I learned today at the Delaware Art Museum:
the larger context of the goblin market poem (written by christina, illustrated by gabriel) that is so popular on tumblr is apparently meant to be about lesbian desire
william rossetti edited walt whitman's work and as a result of the anti-pornography law, whitman called the edition "a horrible dismemberment of my book"
when his wife elizabeth died, gabriel put some of his work in her coffin. but then, years later, when he realized he wanted to publish it and had her EXHUMED to get the manuscripts!!
there were three rosetti children that started writing an anarchist-communism journal together when they were all ages 16 and under. it was called The Torch
While this art was on display in Delaware in the US, it first showed at the Tate Britain which makes I think I have an English person to thank for the label text "For Gabriel, hair was a fetish."

Imagine the sheer amounts of insufferable music discourse in the witch communities. Because, like, by definition, most all of the witches have ears more sensitive to sound frequencies than humans, so probably even the less talented vocalists still have perfect pitch in the human context. What do they think of Electro? Dubstep? Hyperpop? Heavy metal? Psychadelic? Thrashcore? Do they relate to Hip Hop at all, and do they think some strains of it are easier to listen to than others? Who do they think are the best instrumentalists? The best guitarist (and how do they feel about distortion-heavy electric guitar playing)? The best trumpet player? The best violinist? Is the piccolo anathema to them? Who makes the best pianos? Do they loathe equal temperament with the fire of a burning sun? Are they perturbed by the Vocoder, Autotune, or Vocaloid? (We only see landlines in the show, not mobile phones.) Are the Loudness Wars an abomination? Is John Chowning a witch? Are there deep unbridgeable feuds over opera style singing vs. R&B style belting vs. more nasal type practices in other cultures? Do they have conflicted feelings about the Gospel genre? Is America's patriotic music still even remotely the same? What happened to John Philip Sousa in this world? 2x5, of course, featured Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique as diegetic music, which premiered in 1830, so he was unaffected by historical divergence. Sousa's heyday was from the late 1880s through the 1920s. Meanwhile the melody of the Star Spangled Banner was a British song published in 1780, but was there a War of 1812, much less a Battle of Baltimore, for Francis Scott Key to write a poem about, and why would witches give a shit about it? Besides which, it wasn't even adopted until 1931, whereas Hail Columbia and My Country Tis Of Thee are late 1700s, and so more likely to be uninfluenced by historical divergence, given Alder's presence at the crossing of the Delaware River.
Imagine the sheer obnoxiousness of witch audiophiles debating speakers, microphones, sound systems (in theaters and in homes), headphones, amps, digital formats. (Conflicting information in show about the tech levels. On Fort Salem we mainly see vinyl players, but the Camarilla are doing advanced sound synthesis in S3, so.)

transformative power of the classroom for African Americans, and the importance for Black children of stories that centered Black characters - lamenting in her essay "Negro Literature for Negro Pupils" that "for two generations we have given brown and black children a blonde ideal of beauty to worship, a milk-white literature to assimilate, and a pearly Paradise to anticipate, in which their dark faces would be hopelessly out of place." In her diary, which she kept daily for most of her life, she also recorded less lofty reactions to the daily grind of the classroom, as in this outburst from 1897: "Exhausted? I feel like a dishrag. 62 untamed oderiferous kids all day...Fiends, just fiends pure and simple."
Throughout her time in Delaware, Dunbar-Nelson's activism continued. She wrote for Du Bois's The Crisis on women's suffrage and became a field organizer for the campaign in Pennsylvania. In 1916, she married Robert J. Nelson, a journalist and politican, and together with him edited and published a progressive newspaper, the Wilmington Advocate.
In her diary, she also detailed the romantic relationships she had with women, including the Los Angeles-based activist Fay Jackson Robinson and artist Helene Ricks London, in entries that are sometimes tortured, but often frank and celebratory.
In the twenties, the cultural and political explosion of the Harlem Renaissance swept Alice Dunbar-Nelson up in its trail, even though she had not lived in New York for many years and was still based in Delaware. She was friends with most of the leading lights of the era, especially Du Bois and the poet Georgia Douglas Johnson, but she had her differences with them, too. She critiqued the novelist Jessie Redmon Fauset's generally well-received novel Plum Bun, rejecting the "injudicious laudation" that she worried was coming to a Black writer purely on the basis of race. She wanted a bigger frame, and laid claim to a white literary canon that was as much her heritage as any other, writing a scholarly dissertation on Wordsworth, with whom she shared a love of nature. One of her best-known poems celebrates the natural beauty of a violet in nature by contrasting it with the artifice of its copy in an urban setting, where the idea of the flower calls to mind: "florists' shops/And bows and pins, and perfumed papers fine;/ And garish lights, and mincing little fops/And cabarets and songs, and deadening wine."
And despite her early reputation as a poet, she found her voice more and more as a journalist when she wrote a syndicated column, Une Femme Dit, and contributed a wealth of reviews and essays to newspapers and magazines.

Gotta say, I'm loving this whole give-a-word-get-a-poem concept. How about this one? Alagonquin
The Cree, the Delaware, Ojibwe
The Shawnee, the guardians
Of greatness, a cradle
For the world, there are
Not enough I'm sorries
To wipe the slate clean—
An ache, a wound
An IOU, unfulfilled
Beauty and bravery
When everything's gone
The trees will
Remember your name

Delaware
I was talking to my cat on the therapist's chair
A quick sound arose, a letter from Delaware.
Written by a friend I had not seen in years,
In the mailbox, the pathway to allay my fears.
The scented primrose shell, wooden furniture spells
An unforeseen letter, where she hoped to find me well.
White napalm walls, straight from Bolivian beaches
Looking for someone to kill, the letter somehow reaches.
My cat seemed curious of the unknown assailant's mail,
And she stretched herself, the master of the sail,
Bit my hand and tore away the envelope with its bearing
And my therapist hated all the paper she had been tearing.
The letter from Delaware gets lost in the shrink 's room
With the stamps flying away in air to upend the doom,
Realistically, I don't regret not reading the letter ever,
As in my heart, my friend's face is lost forever.
What does she want from my pigeonhole now?
Her cat is here with me, with her signature frown
And my heart is with her, somewhere in Ohio's madness
The letter from Delaware is lost somewhere in our sadness.

Olympique Lyonnais Le Progrès Article (April 15, 2023)
As one of my favorite poems ever once said, "even gods have gods." The relationship between Aulas and Lyon Fem players is so interesting and cool and complex. To know this team is to understand them. To understand them is to know who created them.
The future of OL Feminin: "With this project, we will have more means," Aulas assures
Following an article we published Friday April 14 concerning the potential sale of the Olympique Lyonnais women's team to American businesswoman Michele Kang, the president of the Lyon club, Jean-Michel Aulas, wanted to clarify things.
Could you clarify the Olymique Lyonnais situation concerning the women's section after the information published by the press this week?
I stopped by the training center this Saturday morning to talk to the players in that operation. Which isn't done, I would remind you, because we're still negotiating. Nothing has been signed yet, even if things are progressing. Because we are talking about investment, nothing is concrete. What we are talking about is absolutely not a sale as was discussed by the press. We're associating ourselves with a number of other investors, in particular an American investor who is indeed Michele Kang. This new [financial] association will allow us to regroup in the future three or four clubs in a global club structure, with the objective of preparing a Club World Cup which should be put in place by FIFA within a few years.
And if this project came to be, how would it be realistically come to fruition?
We would keep sole responsibility of the Lyon team, there will be no other majority one-third shareholder in OL Groupe. The women's team would fall under this new company through a contribution of assets, in exchange for a certain number of shares. I will stay, as was the case with the sale to John Textor, the president [of the club], with full powers. Not only over the women's team, but over everything else as well. It would be wrong to say that we haven't disclosed everything or that there would be changes.
But if Michele Kang were to obtain 52 percent of the shares of this new company...
Yes, 52 percent of the new company. But Olympique Lyonnais Feminin would stay Olympique Lyonnais Feminin, belonging 100 percent to OL Groupe. And the president of OL Groupe, it's Jean-Michel Aulas.
But as majority shareholder of the new company under which falls OL Feminin, wouldn't Michele Kang have control over everything concerning OL Feminin?
No. It's simply shareholder rights. You have an investment group like with OL Groupe, where the majority shareholder is Eagle, an English company incorporated in Delaware, in the United States. But the president of OL Groupe, it's Jean-Michel Aulas for a minimum of three years. There, there's the guarantee of being the president of OL Groupe and therefore OL Feminin for three years. So it would be inaccurate to say that Michele Kang will have all the power. She will simply have the the power regarding the development of the shareholding company, but not over the structure nor the management of OL Feminin. The governance will remain the same.
So the women's team and men's team of Olympique Lyonnais will not be separated?
No, it will stay the same structure with the same management. Exactly what happened with OL Groupe. The part which might have created confusion is that, as we will be dealing with a company which already owns an American club, the Washington Spirit, we will be obliged to sell in its entirety OL Reign.
Have these events shaken the players?
That's why I went to see them Saturday morning, to explain to them I will still be the one responsible for the women's team and the day that that changes, I will leave Olympique Lyonnais. That answered any questions. And there weren't any because they believed me. They applauded at the end. Wednesday night, I asked Sonia (Bompastor) and Camille (Abily) to come see me in my office for a crisis management meeting, as they call it these days. They participated in all meetings so that everything was done with full transparency.
So for you, if this project comes to fruition, it will only be beneficial for OL Feminin?
Yes, and it's something I decided myself and so I don't see why I should go crucify myself at the alter of journalists who haven't understood anything. All this is to for Olympique Lyonnais to become even stronger and pull French women's football towards greater heights. In parallel to this project, I am in charge in the development of women's professional football in the [French] Federation, it would be incoherent if I didn't do the same at Olympique Lyonnais. Things have worked out pretty well to date, there isn't any incentive to change that. The flip side is, with this project, we will have greater means for the future. It is nonetheless the teams of OL Groupe who will be in charge of recruitment, which should be spectacular this year, to achieve even greater heights.

obsessed with the bizarre backstory of the new guy i'm seeing. he attended a seventh day adventist high school by accident and almost got kicked out three times. he's a film student but has a personal dislike for christopher nolan. he's never heard of goncharov. he thinks chess boxing should be added to the olympics. he moved to the us at age 11 only knowing the two english words "what" and "okay" and now his favorite word is bucolic. a trip to yosemite changed his worldview. he just called himself an "overwatered cactus." he got a $68 parking ticket on our first date. he quit league of legends six months ago in order to read a psychology textbook. he has over 1000 films on letterboxd. he doesn't believe delaware exists. i think he would do great on tumblr but i mentioned tumblr on our first date (in order to tell him about goncharov) and suddenly his pet fly needed to go to the ER. he gave me a full academic commentary on a poem i wrote and after that i understood my own poem better. i told him i'm nonbinary and his response was "i guess i'm bisexual" (i explained to him he can still be straight). he argued with his seventh day adventist high school teachers to defend lgbt+ rights despite being cishet and attempted to stage a lesbian production of The Office (admin shut it down). he listened raptly to my epidemiology rants. the majority of his friends are over 6 inches taller than he is. he's enthusiastically looking forward to our second date. his hinge profile said he's looking for greta gerwig (sorry i can't be her).

L-R: Rachel Blythe Udell, Jenna McGraw, Suki Valentine, Ash Garner - THECOLORG, Phillip Chang & Paul Vo, Jamie Campbell, Joanna Fulginiti,  May Maani
Cherry Street Pier Resident Bonnie MacAllister (Studio 16) juried an open call to find fellow Philly artists working in non-traditional fibers.  Phantastic Phibers creates an atmosphere of industrial, fiber optic, hyperbolic, puppetry, soft sculpture, no waste weaving,  and non traditional textiles.  The exhibition  transports the pier into a nautilus full of suspended materials including recycled electronics and bicycle parts, a nine foot tunnel, a series of birds, a cursed sweater, a quilt poem, enormous weavings, a tower of electrical cord baskets, giant fish, deconstructed silks, and sea monsters.  Two and three dimensional work will fill the gallery space and second floor.
The exhibition showcases collaborative pieces from Phillip Chang and Paul Vo, May Maani and Chris Lau, Rachel Udell and Jeremy Newman, Bonnie MacAllister and Ndokaa Bundu, and MacAllister and Jamie Campbell as well as work from Joanna Fulginiti,
