"Grandparents Love "

My name is Princess kaye Delantar and I was born on the 11th of December, 2005 in Carajay lapu-lapu city. My parents were Arnolfo Verbo and Jovelyn Delantar. I was born in a big city, but the countryside held my heart, especially my grandparents' home. I was born into a family where both my parents had to work long hours to make ends meet. As a result, my grandparents became my primary caregivers, and I spent most of my early years under their loving care.Growing up with my grandparents was like having two extra sets of parents who spoiled me rotten with love, wisdom, and the best homemade cookies in the world. I was born into a big, bustling family, but it was my grandparents who played the starring roles in my childhood.

I grew up in a small town with my grandma and grandpa. They were like my second parents, always there to take care of me and teach me important things about life.Every morning, I woke up to the smell of grandma's cooking. She made the best "pancit" and "utan", But it wasn’t just her cooking that made Grandma special. She had a heart of gold and a smile that could light up the darkest room. Whenever I was feeling down, she would wrap me up in her warm embrace and shower me with words of encouragement until I felt like I could take on the world.and I loved sitting at the kitchen table with them, eating breakfast together. Grandpa, on the other hand, was the king of the outdoors. He had a green thumb that could rival any professional gardener, and he spent every spare moment tending to his beloved plants. He taught me the importance of hard work and perseverance, and he never hesitated to get his hands dirty to teach me a new skill or fix something that was broken.I loved spending time with him outside, digging in the dirt and watching things grow.In the evenings, we would sit on the porch and watch the sunset. Grandma would tell me stories about when she was young, and grandpa would play his guitar and sing old songs.Growing up with them taught me so much about love, hard work, and the importance of family. I will always cherish the memories of those days in the province with my grandparents.Grandma and Grandpa lived in a cozy little house nestled in a quiet neighborhood. Their home was always filled with the comforting aroma of Grandma's cooking and the sound of Grandpa's gentle humming. It was a place where I felt safe, cherished, and free to explore the wonders of the world around me.One of my fondest memories from childhood is spending hours in Grandma's garden. She had the greenest thumb I've ever seen and could make even the tiniest seed bloom into a beautiful flower. Grandma taught me everything she knew about gardening, from planting seeds to tending to the soil. Together, we would spend countless afternoons digging in the dirt, marveling at the magic of nature, and watching our garden come to life.As I grew older, I began to realize just how lucky I was to have them in my life. While other kids were being shuttled off to daycare or left home alone after school, I always had Grandma and Grandpa waiting for me with open arms and warm smiles.They may not have had fancy degrees or high-powered careers, but they were the smartest people I knew. They taught me the value of kindness, the importance of family, and the joy of simple pleasures like a homemade meal shared with loved ones.But as I got older, I wanted to see what the city was like and l also wanted to live with my parents in the city. I imagined big buildings, lots of people, and exciting things to do. My grandparents supported me even though they were sad to see me go.Moving to the city was a big change. Everything was noisy and busy, very different from the calm farm life. At first, it was hard to get used to, but I started to find my way around and get used to the city vibe and my parents also help me to adjust life living in the city

As I grew older, I began to realize the sacrifices my grandparents had made for me. They had put their own dreams and desires on hold to ensure that I had the love and support I needed to thrive. Their unconditional love and unwavering dedication inspired me to work hard and make the most of every opportunity that came my way. I reflect on my journey, I am filled with gratitude for the gift of being a living granddaughter and a daughter to my grandparents' love and with my parent's love has shaped me into the person I am today—a compassionate, resilient individual ready to embrace whatever the future holds with love in my heart.Being loved by my grandparents was the best feeling in the world. They always had hugs and smiles ready for me, making me feel safe and cherished. Whether it was sharing stories, playing games, or simply sitting together, their love surrounded me like a warm blanket. Their unconditional love taught me the true meaning of family and shaped the person I am today.As I embark on this long journey ahead, I carry with me the love and wisdom of my grandparents, guiding me through the twists and turns that lie ahead. Though the path may be uncertain and the road may be long, their love fuels my determination and their teachings serve as my compass. With each step forward, I am reminded of their unwavering support and the strength they instilled in me. And so, with their love as my guiding light, I march onward, ready to face whatever challenges may come my way, knowing that their spirit will always be by my side.

The love of my grandparents is like a special gift that makes my lives better in so many ways. TACLOBAN CITY – Eastern Visayas has 45 authorized retailers and four dealers of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices this holiday season, the police regional office here has reported.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) through the Regional Civil Security Unit (RSCU) has approved the special permits of 10 retailers in Eastern Samar, nine each in Leyte and Samar, six in Biliran, five each in Northern Samar and Southern Leyte, and one in Tacloban City plus the four authorized dealers.

RSCU clerk chief executive, Master Sgt. Joessie Delantar, said the number of retailers and dealers that secured special permits for this holiday season is lower compared to last year's 56 and six, respectively.

"This has to do with the ongoing health crisis. Many have decided not to sell due to expected decrease in sales as movement and quarantine restrictions remain in place to contain the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19)," he said in a virtual press conference on Thursday.

Delantar said they conduct regular inspection of establishments in line with the intensified crackdown against the manufacture and sale of illegal firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices including piccolo, watusi, giant whistle bomb, giant bawang, large Judas belt, super lolo, lolo thunder, boga, and goodbye Philippines.

Persons caught manufacturing, selling, distributing, or using these illegal firecrackers may face a fine of PHP20,000-PHP30,000 or imprisonment of six months to one year, cancellation of license and business permit, and confiscation of inventory stocks.

From Dec. 21 last year to Jan. 6, 2020, the region recorded a total of 15 firecracker-related injuries in the region due to the use of boga, kwitis, five star, whistle bomb, recycled firecracker powder, binggala and piccolo.

The figure is 66 percent lower than 44 recorded injuries within the same reporting period in the previous year, according to the Department of Health.

Meanwhile, the police reported four incidents of indiscriminate firing, all involving civilians.

To maintain the downward trend of firecracker injuries in the region, Delantar urged everyone to use alternative noise-making and other equally enjoyable ways to celebrate and welcome the New Year without the risk of physical harm, except for "torotot" or whistle that would risk the spread of Covid-19 due to respiratory droplets.

The PNP also enjoins local government units to support this campaign by strictly enforcing the Executive Order 28 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte in 2017 that provides for the regulation and control of the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.

Meanwhile, as part of its “Ligtas Paskuhan” campaign to ensure a safe Christmas season, the police regional office here has already deployed some 1,643 personnel in assistance hubs, churches, malls, public market, firecrackers display zones, community firecrackers zones, terminals, seaports, and airport.

This is on top of the anti-criminality teams deployed in the region. (PNA)

Plus63 Music and Arts Festival 2020: The Grandest Party in the City

February started off with a bang as thousands of people from all over the country flocked to SM Seaside Cebu Concert Grounds for yet another successful Plus63 Music and Arts Festival event. With the brand new date and bigger venue, Plus63 brought back the grandest international music festival in Cebu on February 2, 2020.

Headlining the biggest music fest of this year’s party were Paul Klein, Charles Leslie Priest, and Jake Clifford of an internationally well-known band, LANY. Alongside were some of Cebu’s very own talents - Lourdes, Three Legged Men, Mandaue Nights, Sepia Times, and DJ Short - who spiced up the vibe, giving more excitement to all who attended the festival.

Setting the newest date, Peter Delantar, Head of Plus63 Music and Arts Festival, believed that it was the perfect time for their team to set up a weekend of their own where it becomes the main event of the city.

Bigger and Safer Place. Despite the mammoth crowd, the venue still managed to have an organized and safe place for everyone.“The venue is clean, spacious and has good bathroom facilities. They even provided free [rubbing] alcohol for bathroom users.”, Cristine Despares wrote on her blog Poetic Isolation.

Performances. The level of energy was kept high as each of the local artists performed on stage. “Each artist really had an amazing performance leaving our hearts in awe with their songs,” recalled Jana Winona Baltazar, a 23-year old graduate school student.

LANY. The most-talked about artist across different social media platforms, LANY, left the audience with delighted hearts as Plus63 surprised everyone with a magical fireworks display as LANY were singing their top hit song ILYSB.

“I wasn't expecting a grand fireworks display, but Plus63 was able to pull it off so well when LANY sang their last hit which is ILYSB (I love you so bad). Everything feels surreal and magical that even those who didn't know the song fell in love with the night,” Despares added on her blog.

About Plus63 Music and Arts Festival. Plus63 Music and Arts Festival started in 2016 with the goal of supporting local talents and musicians by giving them the opportunity to perform alongside the world’s top performers. “We brought Steve Angello from the Swedish House Mafia to kick off the inaugural event on Sinulog, Saturday of 2016.”, said Peter Delantar, head of Plus63 Music and Arts Festival. “We have bigger and grander plans for the years to come.” , Delantar added.
