Since youve mentioned you tend to not actually find one half of your otp interesting on their own, what inspires you to ship something?
Very good question! And the answer is quite simple:
What inspires me is the dynamic between the characters, the relationship and how it would play out for both of them indivudually, so they would grow as a person.
I also used to ship GerIta a lot while Germany was/is actually my least favourite character but what drew me in was the dynamic and how both characters could bring the best out of each other in my mind. And as a result the characters I don't enjoy THAT much on their own, also become more enjoyable for me with the change and influence of the other half of the pair.
And the same principle works for TeuTemp. I like to imagine that Gabriel's/Knights Templar's presence brings out the best out of Gilbert and in return Gilbert's "flaws" and strenghts could also bring the best out of Gabriel (since I hc Gabriel to not state his opinion a lot and be more of a people pleaser while Gilbert would even tell the pope to shut up if he doesn't like sth with no remorse at all). They're learning from each other's streghts and weaknesses, from their best and their worst and I enjoy the principle that even characters I'd personally insult a lot, still get genuinely loved by someone.
Also, for every ship where I'm not interested in one half of the pair, there is always a third wheeler shitting on both (Romano for GerIta, Joan/Knights Hospitaller for TeuTemp) and idk I think that's funny.

i can just see myself rocking back up to my finnish uni after being jobless in germany to finish up my finnish master's degree (a quirk in the finnish system means i can go do one whenever without applying, its complicated) but instead of writing on something relevant or employable or even something that a single professor at the uni cares about, i will insist on doing shit like "discourses on homosexuality in early finnish foreign policy. 1907-1910" or "celebrity culture and austrian military masculinities in the suspiciously specific time period of 1878 to 1889"

Can I have a hug
#side effect of slowly getting better is I now have to work out how to have a life after when it feels like I ruined everything#I know I didn’t and my illness would’ve done this eventually but it feels like it cause my degree is worthless now#can’t do any of the jobs that I was going to do anymore#can’t do most entry jobs#can’t do retail or food service or most peoples first jobs#don’t really have irl friends anymore#I’m just. ugh.#my parents said they’d pay for me to go to college again so I can get a degree that works for remote jobs with higher pay than my original#field. which isn’t hard bc that pay was gonna be 20k a year for like six years lmao#and I did stumble across some resources for which doctors can treat my illnesses in Europe so I could try to use it as a way to finally#fucking leave this country but idek how I’d go about getting accepted to a university anywhere if I already have a degree that just doesn’t#work for me anymore#and I’m sad that I can’t do the career I poured my soul into for so long#and I miss my friends and feeling confident#I’m glad I’m getting healthier enough to think about after but I’m terrified and exhausted just thinking about working out how to find what#comes next and what’s possible#and I’m just really really sad#and I’m scared of getting too hopeful about anything#I really miss Austria and people have said I’d really like Germany and I’d love to move but I’m scared I’ll research and find nothing

I’m a woman. I was quite sedentary but got in a regular walking habit over the past year and I absolutely believe it’s helped me spiritually. I wasn’t trying to lose weight or build muscle or anything—and I haven’t. I look exactly like I did before. I just feel more human.
