INTRODUCTION

Hi followers and new viewers, my name is Serenity. I go by my DR name here as eventually I will respawn. I am 24 years old, graphic designer, and reality shifting advocate. I enjoy art, music, and cleaning (lol). This blog will be used to report my shifting journey and experiences. I want to leave something behind for the current gen and next.

When do I plan on respawning?

I plan on respawning either during a near death experience, or when I reach an old age where the inevitable happens. I want to continue to make something of my current life, and also to persevere through the things I’ve been through. I won’t say it’s for soul growth more ego, but I believe it will play apart. As far as respawning, I just want to create my reincarnation. Something’s I believe humans shouldn’t have to deal with for ‘soul growth’ if the lesson can be taught in another way. What I mean by this is my reincarnations from here on out will require me to be well off in life. I don’t want to be the richest, but I don’t want to be poor ever again+ more.

My realities are separated into different categories. Some realities are strictly a desire to experience a show/movie I’ve always enjoyed, others are more for actual soul growth and understanding the meaning of life overall. Any reality that is high school based I script that I have no desire for relationships, or attraction to any gender until I reach a certain age in my DR. The age would have to match my current reality age, as I don’t personally agree with dating younger in your DRs if you’re an adult in your current life. Just a disclaimer as I list my DRs.

Have you seen this childhood show: As told by Ginger (2000-2006), United States (English)

Commentary/Context/Memories: This show made me feel sad sometimes. Not in a bad way, but in like a bittersweet way.

[Mod A: This might have been the only show in this kind of animation art style (by the Klasky Csupo studio at Nickelodeon) that I haven’t seen (since I’ve seen Rocket Power, The Wild Thornberrys and Rugrats). This show was about a middle schooler (later high schooler) named Ginger Foutley who, with her friends, tries to become “more than a social geek”. Courtney Gripling, the most popular girl in the school, is intrigued by Ginger’s “gingerism” (her odd phrases/habits) and consequently takes interest in Ginger and tries to include her in the social events of the school. Courtney’s right-hand woman, Miranda Killgallen, is jealous of the attention Courtney places on Ginger and works to make sure Ginger does not replace her in the popularity standings (I wonder how well it held up that the Black best friend was more of an antagonist). These character dynamics sounds like a great set up for a rom-com! Everyday after school, Ginger writes about her daily adventures in her diary. The show was nominated for three Emmy awards for Outstanding Animated Program, as the characters actually changed according to the plot arcs, grew up, and changed clothes throughout the show (which was rare for animation at the time as it meant more work, time and money). They also had some quite serious plots: break-ups, bullying, caffeine addictions, concerns about suicidal ideation in students (based on their class work), death, depression, and emergency surgeries. Sounds kind of like an animated Degrassi, very intriguing (makes total sense why it would be bittersweet to watch)!]

What I would have done Degrassi Characters who had less storylines or got black holed

I know they aren't all "blackholed" exactly but they all faded off or had very little storylines.

Derek Haig- I don't know. I don't like him as a character but it's different for a Degrassi character to get worse instead of better. Just seeing him at graduation would honestly be enough to wrap him up.

Kendra Mason-Exploring heritage and adoption. We get it a little bit with Derek but it's different to be a POC in a white family. She was in basically every sports team when she was there and just continuing that. Having a sporty girl girl before Jane. I love sibling relationships and I feel like hers with Spinner would be very entertaining. Just having her involved in Spinner's storylines ie the shooting, cancer, and wedding. Her and Nadia's friendship could be a plot point. Basically every degrassi characters has a romance storyline but I don't know who hers would be with.

Nadia Yamir-I would have liked an episode where she got the main plot and it just showed her daily life as a disabled person. Maybe how she gets into the school each day and how the world is not accommodating for someone in a wheelchair. Maybe there's a bonding moment with Jimmy. I also want her to have a relationship storyline I'm thinking with Towerz? And she and Kendra have a talk where Nadia doesn't think he really likes her because no one has really liked her in the past.

Blue Chessex-Honestly I don't really give a frick about him. He ran his course. Bye.

Wesley Betenkamp-He plays the flute so I'm assuming he's in the band and there are Degrassi band plotlines in seasons 11 and 12 he could participate in. Him and Hannah together. Degrassi having a long-term healthy relationship? He and Winston kinda have similar personalities so he maybe they are in comic book club together. More of him Connor and Dave hanging out as well because it felt like Connor only hung out with Jenna in the later seasons.

Bruce The Moose-Maybe give him a last name lol. And I think he should have a storyline where he pines after a smart girl just because I want to see that. We never really know if he graduates but we do know Bruce actually has a good side and he wants people to like him. An arc would be making him less of a bully. He probably would have had to spend another semester at degrassi because of his grades and this time he doesn't really have any friends.

Johnny DiMarco-I want to see more of the good side of his relationship with Alli. We only every see the bad stuff. Also I want to see more of him making amends because no one seems to hate him for JTs death by the time he graduates. And he does go to college although we never really know how this happens.

Dave Turner-Involved in the play somehow? Like he helps Imogen running it. And he hosts some DegrassiTv segments. He would honestly be great in front of the camera. And I think Becky Imogen and Dave would have been a good trio. I would have just liked to see him graduate tbh. He had good character growth that we saw so far and I would want to continue that. Him dealing with Jacinta's and Adam's death. He definitely would have been involved in the summer camp storyline. Dallas and Dave I think would have gotten along too once Dallas apologizes. He was involved with student Council too in his run. They bring up Dave being good at music and they could've explaned on that! Really Dave could fit anywhere and it's a shame they didn't keep him around.

Jack Jones-She didn't fit the rebrand to next class and the only storyline I could think of for her is coming out to her parents which Zoe already took. I think she was okay moving. Her father was in the military he probably just got stationed somewhere else.

Leia Chang-We knew she was a dancer but we barely if at all got to see her dance. I would have liked to see that and her grow some. When I say grow I mean stop the pathological lying. I actually liked her and Anya's relationship. It showed Anay's growth outside of Holly J. I'm not lying I didn't really like her but I fully believe in seeing all main characters graduate.

Chris Sharpe-I like the idea of further exploring him wanting to be a DJ. He might've advocated for peace at Degrassi after the shooting, changing some of his ways. Involvled with the Jay and Silent Bob movie. I don't know any more romance plots for him but degrassi needs more bis. Also his character seems to have merged with Damien Hayes along the line and those two could've been one.

Damon Carter-He's honestly very disconnected from the rest of his grade. He was friends with Zig but that obviously got severed. I would like it if together Zig and his backgrounds were explored more, being poor/lower income I mean. It would've been fun to see Tiny, Zig, and Damon doing boy stuff together. Him being less of a creep to women would be good too but overall not atached to his character.

Lucas Valieri-Honestly just background stuff of him stepping up to the plate more and being a better father. Showing he wants to be different from his family. Little background character arc. He did drop out but it would be cool if he followed Mia to Paris to take care of their child together and took some responsibility there.

Sadie Rowland-I actually liked her and Dave together and she deserved better towards the end. Maybe more of her playing basketball. I could see her as bi too and she could be Zoe's first inclining of being a lesbian along with Grace. I think she goes to Paris with everybody and her and Alli talk? I don't know how she could be incorporated furthur and she was the only one of her class left. She likely wouldn't make the move to the next class franchise.

Hannah Belmont-Her and Wesley stay together despite some ups and downs. I know Degrassi has some relationships that stay together long term later but I feel like they need a steady couple that doesn't break up. I can't think of any main storylines for her but generally just being a background character. She was cool calm and collected and Degrassi needs some of that.

Keisha-Something about her realizing she doesn't need to show off her body to get boys. I think maybe she joins the feminism club? Goldi needs more female friends in the beginning and this would go along with the body storyline. Because Frankie goes in a different direction with Lola and Shay. Zoe is closer friends with Tristan. Keisha needs connections.

Arlene Takahashi-Honestly they kinda replaced her character with Yael's in next class. I liked the friendship she and Frankie had going where Frankie was trying to be a better person. Would she fit into that new friend group in next class? I don't think her and Hunter would have stayed together long term but I do think they would've stayed friends. She would've called Hunter out on his bs I think and tried to help him.

Zane Park-To see him actually running the LGBTQ club! And maybe Fiona shows up one time to it or something. They underutilize him as an LGBTQ icon and leader. Maybe we could see his home life. Anything to make him a more well-rounded character and not just Riley's on-off love interest.

Terri Mcgregor-Okay so I'm thinking she returns to Degrassi after the shooting. And if the writers really want to make Spinner get married in Degrassi Takes Manhattan I vote he gets married to Terri. They had a thing going in the beginning and I think she would have been sympathetic to him after the shooting. It would have been a good full-circle moment. In between, I want to see her confidence grow and her go after a man and they date for a bit. I know so many of the class of 2004 got held back but something where she's still around a bit into season 6+7, maybe a near college. She would have more storylines with Hazel as I think both of them deserve more A plots.

Andrea Lewis And Jamal Dedeaux Of Hulu's 'Three Ways' Open Up About Safe Sex On Set

In the new Hulu sex comedy Three Ways, a prudish young woman named Stacey decides to open herself up more sexually by having a threesome with her new partner Justin and another woman. Written and directed by first-time filmmaker Jamal Dedeaux, the provocative and sexy comedy comes during a time when conversations around open relationships, polyamory, and sexual liberation are becoming more common amongst younger Black people. 

Speaking with xoNecole, Dedeaux says that the film was inspired by his love for such classic films like Boomerang but also by his own life more than the desire to get in on growing conversations. “I had a threesome, and I told [the woman that inspired Stacey]: ‘Hey, you should write a short film about it kinda like from your point of view.’ And then I just thought, you know what, I'll do it.”

For actress Andrea Lewis, who plays Stacey, the film was an opportunity to gain perspective on the different types of relationship styles. “I love hearing the discussions around monogamy or polyamory, just hearing the different opinions,” she says. “I've always been just a really open-minded person in terms of hearing others' experiences.”

Three Ways also brought on a new challenge for Lewis, the Degrassi: The Next Generation actress who has been acting for over two decades now. “It was definitely my first time experiencing something so spicy,” she says, dealing with the raunchy subject matter. She says that she and other actresses she works with discuss all the time how to approach sex scenes in their work. “It's always a variety of opinions in terms of some people are comfortable [with sex scenes], some people are not. Some people hope they never get something like this because it takes a lot of vulnerability.”

Working on the set of Three Ways, Lewis says she felt completely safe doing intimate scenes. “We had an intimacy coordinator, Tatiana, and she said it best: you can change your mind the whole time. There is nothing here that's like, you have to do it. You can say, I don't wanna do this, or I thought I would, and now that we're in the midst of it, it's making me uncomfortable.”

For his part, Dedeaux was deliberate about making the actresses feel as comfortable as possible to do their love scenes. “One thing I did was made sure we surrounded the set with women,” he says. “Every shot in the sex scene was storyboarded, or was it shot listed.”

“Ultimately, it requires choreography. It requires people to be very comfortable with each other, and it's definitely absolutely not as sexy as people [think],” Lewis says.

Three Ways arrives nearly a decade after Lewis released her cult classic web series Black Actress, where she plays a young Black woman frustrated with the film and television industry. With this latest film and a string of other personal projects, including a forthcoming docu-series called The Black Beauty Effect, Lewis has experienced what she describes as the dramatic shift that has taken place in Hollywood in the past several years.

“Black women in general in media have been very aggressive about wanting to see ourselves,” she says. “Now we’re getting to this place where not only are we getting a lot of diversity with representation, the focus is on how authentic we actually feel and look, it's like people really wanna see you looking like a Black woman.”

Three Ways is streaming on Hulu.

Lol @ BBCAN for “evolving” (read: devolving) the show by getting rid of live feeds. Framing it as a way of promoting good mental health is hilarious, too. I mean, it is also literally a reality show called Big Brother. Being on camera 24/7 isn’t exactly a secret (okay, this is BBCAN - it’s more like 8/5 at this point), potential backlash is always a possibility, unhinged fans exist, creepers posting screenshots of half-naked houseguests is unfortunately still a thing, being stuck in a studio with no natural light can’t be good for anyone’s health. The format of this show is already not conducive to good mental health. I’m not sure what they’re trying to achieve here, aside from placating their sponsors and the social media maniacs who go nuts and threaten houseguests’ family members every year. If they can’t extend their shoestring budget enough to afford having live feeds, yet they haven’t considered something like charging for live feeds -- which, personally, I’d pay for -- then just cancel the show again at this point. Jesus. I just really do not trust the editors to do a good job of showing what’s actually happening, because we know they already struggle with that (BBCAN6′s glaringly bad edit, Haleena’s purple edit last year). Might as well just nix the whole concept of the show and film it Survivor-style, then we might have a slightly better shot of getting an accurate edit. At least I’ll have more time to dedicate to a full rewatch of Degrassi: TNG† instead of watching live feeds -- I mean, DiGiTaL dAiLiEs. † Well, up to the class of 2007, anyway. I don’t think I could handle watching the season 8 freshies at this point. I also have zero nostalgia for 2008-2009. Those years fucking sucked.

yesterday me and victoria had our new housemates kailee and emahnee over for lunch. in the morning the two of us went to metro to get supplies -- cheese, croissants, veggies, and of course a blueberry pie and vanilla bean ice cream. on the walk back we talked about boygenius, and i kept saying how it would destroy her. she didnt take me seriously and i put on ‘me and my dog’ on in the kitchen loud on the speaker and left for the entire song, and when i came back she was, quite literally, on the floor SOBBING and we had to do deep breathing and listen to happy music for ten minutes. very precious. i did school street and spoke with nico for a bit, and then went to douglas all night to work on my dracula daily essay. i sent lexie the buck meek album and she said she was gonna ‘hoop to it’ -- i miss her so much. i am slowly figuring out my stuff for yukon and its making me soooo excited! i miss it so much. i fell asleep eating chocolate and watching degrassi -- classic. i also made plans with eric today to do work downtown so that’s fun.
