Headcanons are more than welcome here, as long as they're not problematic ofc! The Incredibros characters are pretty much without a specific ethnicity, they only have the given nationalities so there is no such thing as whitewashing or general skin color change issue to worry about here. You do what you want! And also no orientation based headcanons, please. They already have canon ones set for them and I wouldn't like it much if you take it away. Gender based headcanons on the other hand are just as welcome as long as you don't detransition my trans characters.

And about redesigns...I mean you are more than free to draw yer own version of said character; redesigns for the fun of it and or for the criticism's sake is welcome! But please don't try to "fix" them, they're still my characters that I've grown attached to. I understand that the designs might not be for everyone and that's okay! i actually 100004% agree with what you said with yuuji being more into vibrant streetwear and megumi more muted colors and kinda classic not very flashy clothes.

i feel like yuuji runs hot so most of the year he’ll go for like really baggy shorts, either colorful basketball shorts or those obnoxiously large jorts, paired w more baggy t shirts that are either very bold colors or patterns, or have some silly design or phrase on them. probably also with those socks that come over the ankle w the nike swoosh on them? and jordans. also a frequent baseball cap and/or bucket hat wearer. these but w more bright colors bc everyone seems to be super into neutrals rn but not yuuji itadori!

on the off chance he gets cold, he’ll wear megumi’s sweatshirts. also i can see him going to thrift stores and leaving w the wildest t shirts like “grandma sally’s 82nd birthday party” type shirts.

David “Hesh” Walker x mermaid!Reader Imagine

A/N🪶: I have work I need to do for my intro to graphic design class but David Walker is taking over my mind so I’m just gonna write a bunch of shit I’ve been thinking about. Use this for fics or art or whatever if you wanna! Let me know if you’d like to see more of this.

Okay, first and foremost, David x mermaid!Reader. There, I said it. You know this man would be so curious and gentle and sweet, wanting to learn more about the underwater life and maybe teach you some (good) things about his life on land like fruits and other foods. If you like salty fish, he’d probably try to bring a can of sardines or something. If you aren’t into fish—which is okay because this is reader and reader needs options— he’d try bringing fermented veggies like pickles with the brine and everything.

I think Hesh would want to see you try sweets and candies, but he’d also want to keep you away from unhealthy foods that might hurt your stomach. Plus, if anything happens to him and he can’t deliver you sweets, how will you get them? You need your snacks!

He’d try to practice holding his breath for long periods of time so he doesn’t have to worry about wasting oxygen tanks— and possibly risk exposing your existence. If you’re a “Little Mermaid” type mer-person or have gills (I say they’re in your neck), maybe you’d kiss him before he breaches the surface so he knows he can keep swimming with you.

Speaking of swimming, this man keeps flippers on him. Hesh wants to try to swim faster and keep up with you, of course, but even he needs a little help sometimes. If he ever forgets the flippers, you just take him by the hand, or better yet, you put your chest to his back and wrap your arms around him as you swim. More comfortable for both of you… plus you can definitely feel how fast his heart is beating being this close to you.

The first other human he introduces you to would def be Logan. I think both brothers are great swimmers and depending on the AU, Logan may need help being comfortable swimming again after almost drowning and getting crushed and hit with sonar with Keegan. Logan would also occasionally bring snacks and may even start fishing. I think he’d want to learn about the kinds of places you stay around and would want to try to help clean up some of the garbage and parts from destroyed ships and planes from the war definitely not because he thinks the parts would look cool as decoration.

Eventually, one of the other Ghosts would get curious and follow David to see where he’s going on all of his breaks. My guess would be Keegan or Kick as Merrick is too busy or doesn’t care as long as Hesh doesn’t get killed or kidnapped. Maybe both of them follow Hesh and see him sitting near the water on the docks. Right when they’re about to approach, you hoist yourself up. The two men can’t believe what they’re seeing. A fucking mermaid. What the hell kinda parallel universe did they stumble into (It’s an alternate universe, boys, get it right)?!

What’s even crazier is when they see Hesh hold your face in his hands and gently kiss your nose. Your smile, with a bunch of sharper-than-a-normal human teeth, shows. You both turn to look at them staring wide-eyed.

“This is what happens when you don’t mind your business.” Hesh says.

He introduces you and you simply wave at them. Later, when they try to explain what happened to Merrick, suddenly they have to get a psych evaluation and drug test. When they try to get Logan to help them explain, Logan just shrugs at Merrick. Hesh simply laughs to himself watching this happen. Though, his clothes are partially soaked. The “what if?” part of Merrick’s mind takes over more than he’d like to admit. It’s not until Hesh shows a photo of the two of you that Merrick decides to see you for himself.

Lo and behold, there you are. Colorful and cheery. No wonder Hesh has been so happy the past couple weeks. While you initially find Merrick to be scary, you warm up to him quickly.

And now Merrick has to apologize to Keegan and Kick for not believing them. All the while, you and Hesh watch the stars as you lay on the beach. Hesh uses every story of the constellations Logan and Elias have ever talked about, only having to discreetly search his phone once or twice.

A part of the reason why I liked bfu so much and why I felt it stood out from other TV ghost-hunting shows was that it felt like it came from "normal" people who were more interested in exploring haunted places than producing a TV show, and although I know it's always been Watcher's intention to make quote-unquote "TV-caliber videos", it just doesn't work personally with what bfu stood for*2. This also doesn't have anything to do with over-producing, but I feel like they have a few times gone into the same trap that the Try Guys often have by adding too many unnecessary rules and details to their concepts. Like I never understood why they had to hide that walkie-talkie from each other, why couldn't they just do a solo tour of the house without having to find the walkie-talkie? that's essentially what they did anyway. In that same vein, I don't understand why they've insisted on adding that whole "is it still a mystery or is it solved" segment on mystery files because it doesn't really change much to the overall concept of the show

*1 I think some of their shows thrive on being "over-produced", like puppet history for example, but I just don't think that is a vibe that works well for a show like Ghost Files

*2 I also feel it's fair to compare bfu and ghost files because those expectations and the audience from bfu is what they've been banking on

i can see where you're coming from but the spending most of their time and energy on graphics and tech for ghost files is smth i don't agree with. like the graphics are the same blueprint graphics clip they repeat in every other episode. and some of those graphics are hand drawn by another person. it's in every episode but it doesn't seem like they recreate these graphics for every episode (unless its a graphic of the location) to intensely focus their time and energy on. and more recent episodes of ghost files literally has like.. the majority of the video of them ghost hunting. usually like 45 minutes out of the hour they ghost hunt. compared to bfu they explained the lore of the location for a good 15-20 min while also interviewing people from the location out of the 45-50 min episode. so it's kinda similar, but i personally think they ghost hunt more on ghost files.

also they can't copy the same exact design/format of bfu unless they want to get sued by buzzfeed. i think that's just the reality. and they're the same normal dudes ghost hunting but with better production. their job is ghost hunting, of course they want to improve in something that's most of their job. and just bc they want to experiment with some trippy tech doesn't necessarily make them overproduced imo. they just want to explore options which isn't a bad thing, and it's something buzzfeed never allowed them to do so of course they wanna go that route.

and tbh bfu was tv-caliber content imo. lesser quality compared to ghost files, yea, but it was def something worthy of being on tv (like it was put on hulu). the lesser quality has everything to do with buzzfeed not allowing them a bigger budget, restricting their creativity, overworking their crew, and laying off their staff (which ryan and shane complained about all the time back then) versus bfu standing for something less than tv caliber. but again, i really think this just comes down to taste rather than overproduced vs not overproduced. if you prefer bfu, that's totally fine!! if you prefer ghost files, that's also totally fine. i love gf but i get why people are nostalgic for bfu since thats the series we started out with. but some people (not you anon) outright hating on gf so suddenly is ridiculous when those same people were clamoring for gf live tickets and ask that they go international.

and to your second point- while i like those concepts they add in the show, it's okay if you don't! no big deal, everyone has their own interests. and i think the whole 'is it a mystery or is it solved' is more about the videos needing to have a 'motivation' or 'theme'. and i dont get what you mean by 'adding' this concept when it quite literally is the gist of the entire show from the show's conception/beginning.

anyways, all this to say, i get where you're coming from. but people suddenly thinking this is overproduced is kind of wild in my opinion

Zuru Mini Brands fashions - brown monogram set

I have sat on the sidelines for a while, so I don't know if these sets have official names. This is my first of the fashion sets, and I only got my first set of mini sneakers in June.

That said, I'm pleasantly surprised at how much came in this set and the nice quality. More pics below the cut.

Detail shot, to show the graphics. The scarf is a one-sided print, but the edges are hemmed. Might need to iron it, maybe try a wet drape treatment, so it's less flat and stiff.

The headband just has images printed, but it's still a detail I wasn't expecting.

The shoes are a soft pleather, the sort that will break down in a few years. The sole and heel are solid, so they could be reused for custom shoes. The drawstrings really work, so you can pull them out. They're unnecessary, since the boots are already narrow. (Haven't tried them on anyone yet, so ymmv.)

This purse? I gasped when I saw that the zipper functions. It's in-scale and looks nice with the design. The purse alone might be worth more if it only had the monogram design, without the extra flourishes. It's only on one side, so you can hide it from the camera.

I've never been impressed with the designer monogram variations over the years, but this one feels mature and not gaudy. The scarf may be hard to style, due to the scale, but it still fits well in a diorama. The headband is a sweet touch to the set, keeping it from feeling too high-fashion and snobby.

The boots would be better if made from another material. I just know from experience how that stuff degrades and crumbles. It's still a classic and versatile design, so I'll enjoy it while I can.

Purse steals the show, hands down, no question. Def worth the $10ish for the set .

I don't know if the codes mean anything, because I think mine were covered by the wrappers. Top one is the fashion set. Bottom two are the sneakers from my previous post, but I mixed them up, oops. Sorry, I don't know which was which.

Self-Reflection🪞

   Day 25 & 26, Blame and Fic Switch 

Aftermath of my Sidney Rewrite Episode. Danny’s in his room, reflecting on what happened and the things he wished he could’ve done. I dont normally do fics so I hope I atleast got a clear message in this.

TW, mentions of blood, violence and death.

          “I’m sorry Sid”, Danny said to himself solemnly, in his room holding Sid’s broken glasses, they got fairly damaged from…the incident. After the traumatic experience and damage caused in the school, the students were sent home for at least a week. While ghost attacks became a common thing, especially at Casper High, this one was especially frightening, no one, especially Danny saw what Sid did coming. He can still remember being chased like a little bug, seeing the fear in his own eyes from Sid’s giant reflective form, when he saw Dash's face get-he shakes his head, trying to get those horrific memories out. He can’t deal with those graphic details today. He’s just too tired, laying himself on his bed, he stares blankly at the ceiling.

          His friends, his family, even Lancer tried to assure Danny none of it was his fault, how could he have known it would all end up like this, how could he have been able to save Dash from something like that, he wasn’t even anywhere near the fight(or so his parents and teacher believed). He even tries to reassure himself, he shouldn’t blame himself but deep down he can’t help but wonder constant what ifs. What if he didn’t let or had been more careful about letting a ghost help prank on Dash and the other mean kids, knowing his backstory, what if he had listen to his friends sooner when they were worried he was getting carried away, what if he had tried talking to Sid better when he did wonder that himself. What if he didn’t let things get so out of hand…he couldn’t fix things.

Flashback of Sid and Danny talking. Sid’s dialogue, the darker words:

        “ What do you mean this is getting out of hand? Not like anything’s being tied back to us, right?”.

    “ I know, I know, Sid. It’s just some of these pranks have been pretty mean, even for them”.

“ It’s called giving them a a taste of their own medicine Danny. If it was the other way around, you’d think they’d be worrying about being too mean with you? They clearly haven’t thought that to begin with”.

“ Yeah, fair point. It’s just my friends seemed pretty worried and-

“ Ah you’re friends are just being brainwashed by flowery fables that those stupid teachers and the school tell you like “be the bigger person” or “being mean to them makes you just as mean” and other crud ike that. They just teach you to be as worthless as they are”.

“Hey, my friends aren’t worthless! And I get a lot of teachers can be jerks but there’s also plenty that at least try to help(thinks of Lancer). I like to think so.

“ I’m sure that’s what he'd tried to tell you, along with one of his dumb book swears. Seriously most haven't even heard of those books in years, especially not kids-he sees Danny becoming really uncomfortable and starts regulating himself. 

“ Sorry, sorry. I'm sure the people you're talking about truly mean well. I was just getting a little heated over there(brings back bad memories) I just know when you try to be nice and let things go, they usually don’t really care and just go back to their old nature. I just wanna make sure they learn their lesson for good. You know I’m just trying to look out for ya, right? 

         “ y-yeah ofcourse. You’re not wrong, it’s just not sure how long we can keep doing all these pranks, I am pretty busy with other stuff”.

“ Then maybe we should do one final, epic prank! The ultimate prank to teach all the mean kids you don’t mess with nerds! Revenge of the Nerds!

“ YEAH! though Def no revenge of the nerds 80′s style, those guys went WAY too far”.

“ Well it’s a good thing this Daddy-O’s from the 50′s! So I’ve been thinking what if-

Back to the present:

     As Danny remembers that conversation, he starts to realize he missed certain red flags such as Sid's growing mean streak...and the little cracks he was trying to hide on his skin. And then, there’s Dash, he got it much worse, being the main target for Sidney’s revenge hunt. Had to be sent to the hospital to get treatment for his injuries and stitches for that bad cut Sid’s pincer left on him, still remembers when the blood spilled on- Danny shakes from that experience. Good chance that mark will stay for a long time.

     He wishes it didn’t take him having a full emotional breakdown from all those brutal revenge pranks they pulled and almost dying trying to protect him(Danny) from Sid’s wrath to realize that for all his many, many faults, he’s not really a bad person and didn’t deserve to almost die. He can't even properly apologize to him, not without risking his identity being exposed.

     Danny lays back on his bed, breathing out a sigh of guilt and exhaustion. Part of why he wasn’t more willing to acknowledge and try to talk to Sid more was because, outside of Sam and Tucker, he doesn’t have a lot of friends. Then he met Sid who not only understood his problems but enjoyed hanging out with, sharing each others different time pleasures(like Egg-creams), talking about sci-fi films, when they did harmless pranks...at first. He was so worried about losing a new friend, he ended up losing him anyway, the worst way possible. In a way, he made a similar mistake to what the people in Sid’s life made. They ignored him and his problems until they became too big to fix. Thinking about it, Sid’s first failed plan in a twisted way, might've worked, in terms of making his bully regret everything. Doubt he had it easy after being known as the guy who accidentally killed one of his fellow classmates.

     As he takes his eyes off the rotating ceiling fan back to Sid's broken glasses, seeing his own reflection from them, he starts to consider. He can’t reverse what happened, but he can atleast make sure what happened to Sid is better acknowledged rather than just try to forget what happened like they did. Regardless of what was and what wasn't his fault, he still wants to make things right. Or atleast try to.

He props himself up to go check some stuff on his laptop such as memorials and finding perhaps some flowers and a card to send to Dash at the hospital. After what happened, it’s highly doubtful anyone would want to use that locker anymore. But maybe it could be used for something else, to remember Sid's story in a clearer light. Give his friend some peace.

As he looks at pictures of locker memorials, he calls Tucker, holding Sid’s broken glasses

“ Yeah I’m doing good too, thanks Do you know how to fix up cracked glasses?”

Thank you so much for answering all of our questions! I'm struggling to conceptualize the difference between an early reader, a chapter book, and middle grade? (Do they ever call middle grade books chapter books?) Thanks!

If I wrote a book and was having a hard time determining if it fit into early reader or chapter book, is that something an agent can help me figure out where it best fit?

While there is a little bit of crossover between these categories -- a LITTLE bit -- ie, a handful of books that one might argue COULD be considered early readers/chapter books, or chapter books/young MG -- the reality is, for the most part, these categories each have pretty distinct parameters.

Therefore, I'm going to be brutally honest: If you can't tell the difference between these categories, you have not read enough children's books to be writing them. Go to the bookstore or library and get to reading!

But before you go, here, I made you a cheat sheet -- hey, don't make fun of it, "graphic design is my passion" lol :D

(ETA: Oh and yes - sometimes random people -- parents, teachers, kids -- do call anything with chapters a chapter book. In publishing terms, though, chapter book is its own distinct category, and a middle grade book would never be called a chapter book.)

(ETA AGAIN: Sure, your agent can certainly help you decide at which audience to aim your book, like for example, suggesting that an early reader might sell better as a chapter book, or vice versa -- but it would def help if you knew the difference first and had a goal in mind, yanno?)

I'm more than happy to give recommendations (and as my username might suggest, I'm highly biased toward one of those recommendations). A couple of questions to consider about what you like about BG3 that you might find in other games:

Do you like the darker parts of BG3 (i.e., Durge) & don't mind outdated mechanics & graphics (and/or modding)?

Check out Dragon Age: Origins. Your classic 'save the fantasy world against impossible odds' RPG, with a certain apocalyptic darkness as you and your ragtag team of heroes scramble to defeat an invasion of blighted monstrosities called darkspawn. Mind the Mature rating especially for Origins, but I personally think that it's the best introduction to the Dragon Age setting and lore-- your character's backstory is deeply meaningful and does a wonderful job contextualizing your unique perspective in a world that is much more politically rich (if often insufferably center-left) than what BG3 offers.

It also came out in 2009, which is as evident in its occasional deep dives into misogyny as it is in its low-def textures and agonizingly slow combat. If you decide to go within Origins, you can send me another message & I'd be happy to offer some mod recs for making the game look & feel more contemporary (and with more bisexuality, which is always important).

Do you like bisexual misfits just trying to survive?

Check out Dragon Age 2. You play a refugee trying to provide for their family in a city marred by deep political inequity and social injustice. The game is of a smaller scale than any other in the series, focusing on just one city, and you have less flexibility in designing your character, but the story built within those limitations is excellent. Not for nothing, but Cyrus was originally an OC I made for DA2. The companions are splendid, the romances are exquisite, it very much has the BG3 tadfools vibe of a collection of wounded people (who are sometimes at each others' throats) trying their very best to make it through a world that is, at every turn, against them.

Gameplay-wise, the combat is much less real-time strategy like in Origins and much more fluid (& imo fun). The graphics are also significantly better than Origins, though far below BG3's. The game can feel quite repetitive, as it reuses assets, level designs, and enemies frequently (it was in development for less than two years...), and if you love the blank canvas of Tav, Hawke might feel too narrow/prescriptive.

Do you like BG3's turn-based combat, TTRPG mechanics, and strategic gameplay?

Check out Owlcat's Pathfinder games! I've only played Wrath of the Righteous personally, but I've heard good things about Kingmaker too. Their gameplay has a steeper learning curve than BG3, because Pathfinder is a more complicated system and the games cater in part to intense strategic minmaxers. BUT there are many build guides online, the game has plenty of difficulty settings (and the Toy Box mod lets you finagle things further), and I've been getting by just fine on Normal using the companion auto-builds & making my own haphazard build choices for Cyrus.

And there is a strong role-play component. WOTR's setting feels very much like the Forgotten Realms/Sword Coast of BG3 (though, for lack of a better term, de-WOTC-ified). While the story feels a bit cliche at times (magic chosen one rallying an army against the tide of darkness-- here in the form of demons), the deep lore and dark tone keep it interesting & fun. The companions and their romances are also excellent (...dare I say I find the romance writing to be more sensual & intimate than BG3's sex scenes???), and I especially love how Owlcat handles & writes inter-party dynamics.

Coming from BG3, I should also warn you that there is a VERY limited CC. Even more limited than BG3's slider-less presets. You don't get up close & personal with your PC that often, as the game is always in an isometric perspective, and that may be a turn-off too.

(All the Dragon Age games have good but not imo excellent character creators-- more facial customization than BG3, no body customization, and plenty of mods for expanding hair options)

More interested in action (maybe even very intense action), exploring, poking & prodding an open world?

We've reached the edges of my personal fantasy RPG knowledge, but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the Elder Scroll games and the FromSoftware games like Elden Ring. I'm neither a hardcore action nor an open-world RPG person, but if you are, I think these games could serve you well!

I am also always a supporter of indie games, so here's one much smaller fantasy recommendation. Porpentine Charity Heartscape's With Those We Love Alive is an emotionally intense text-based game about trying to live in a repressive, surreal fantasy world. And while they aren't games you can sink hundreds of hours into, I'd encourage you to browse itch.io and find fantasy games there too!

wuwa rambles incoming, on the negative side ish (?)

so i also ended up downloading wuwa to test it out despite being fairly confident in the assessment that it Will not be a long term thing for me (and yeah stand behind that one after day 1 and some today) and like

firstly yes the state of the game is in shambles lmao like it really wasnt finished in time for release in terms of performance and polish At All. on my side luckily the overall experience has been more or less okay on medium graphics with some glitches and a total of two crashes but its still like. this isnt an optimized game at all. ppl rly have been taking genshin being incredibly cautious with new systems and additions (so that the game actually Functions) for granted i suppose 💀 and or consistently taken the most uncharitable angle towards it . like yes we shouldve had xyz since forever but i 100% believe theres actual spaghetti code behind things taking long and that hoyo genuinely wants to be very careful w it for good reason. but yeah artifact presets where still

secondly as much as the world is like, pretty and vast with many sceneries that make for a beautiful vignette to Look at and all kinds of trinkets to run towards and engage w for that quick dopamine release, i think the fact that the story and lore of the world is just so fucking inconsequential and terribly communicated makes it just. Incredibly hard to Feel anything for it. its like a cake with stunning decorations except u take a bite and realize its all just fondant and no actual flavor. its just there. i dont have any thoughts nor feelings for it bc the worldbuilding is such a failure that i care neither for this place nor the characters whose stories are supposed to be selling me on the entire game. and that really sucks bc this place really Does look stunning in places and i Wish they would give me something to care about but its just the backdrop for the (admittedly fun) pokemon echo farm and ur exploration progress and the combat system

character-wise i also just dont mesh with vast majority of them much. they dont stand out enough from one another and no one except for like scar has actually made me very intrigued about anything at all regarding the world. designs vary from ugh to fine with some that i do like but they still arent like . the kind of Instant recognizable design that just Hits. they look fine but they lack the (jenshin) impact that makes you want to forfeit ur mortal possessions to them

now there is One (1) exception to this to be fair and thats sanhua but thats Literally just bc she is so fucking gender envy to me design wise. like its almost perfect just like that. literally if only her top wasnt open in the back . Id wear that shit SO hard for My scifi fantasy waves that wuther self insert oh my god. she looks like a middle school OC id make JSJSKSKDKUSKDK i love herrr literally the only reason i continue playing tbh . And she has ice powers too she is literally made For Me 💀

(jen forbidden lore tldr a niche finnish Banger of a fantasy book series that rewired my brain at 10 had an Excellently written girl protag who among other things gained op draconic ice powers of eternal winter and since then that simply became My main character daydream self elemental power of choice Always hsjsjsjskvkd)

the combat i think is where wuwa stands out and it definitely lets u engage more with the enemies. like ultimate evasion and counters Feel satisfying and building up ur characters unique mechanic like sanhuas ice constructs for her powered up charge atk Feels satisfying i def think theres a lot of potential there but in terms of A Future Meta in a gacha that wants money idk where things would ultimarely go in the future. but ya that stuff is solid.

enemy designs are also cool but suffer from that same lack of context to make me intrigued w the world theyre a part of. like cool eldritch creature ig but it doesnt give heebie jeebies the same way as seeing like. the husks in the chasm for the first time. where u instantly go oh fuck How. Why. Who were they. bc u know there Will be a relevant answer . etc . which is a shame. make me fear for my life smh

anyway for me my pulls have been like ridiculously bad i am genuinely not joking that getting sanhua on my first starter banner multi is the only reason i stuck w it. like. prior to this morning and getting aalto from the 20 free pulls . i have not received a Single non f2p new 4*. i have chixia c3 who i do Not like. yangyang c2. baizhi c1. Literally i kid you not the other new 4* i pulled today was . Yuanwu. so like considering the event and log in thats also c1 yuanwu c1 sanhua (latter of which i obvi have no issue w). and then my starter 5* was the worst case scenario 💀 Walmart gaming i mean. if u think hes cute cool but i am not at All enthused. id have taken Anyone over him lmao

so thats fun . i mean its fine im not gonna play long term i like sanhua and playing her w baizhi and someone like yangyang or aalto its fine for what i intend to do w it for now. & none of the future 5* rly appeal to me either

ultimately the game definitely has potential but it just. released too soon in a shoddy state and in many ways (mostly relating to its open world) i think is too reliant on just resembling genshin without actually innovating on top of that foundation or distinguishing itself from it. and the failure of its story to make players care about its world At All doesnt help. Do i think the world and lore are shit w 0 potential? well obviously no bc its so poorly communicated i cant even fucking tell you what it is About. but any possible potential there was definitely not utilized how it should so eh

now personally i have absolutely no horse in this toxic drama clownfest of a gacha game war arms race other than its not worth the time nor effort. so i truly have no particular feelings of fervent support nor some schadenfreude about kuro and for competitions sake i Do hope they manage to salvage the situation and that wuwa manages to flourish in the end but ironically enough the genshin "killer" number two more or less seems to have went the way of the other one aka ToF. so thats something i suppose lmao

Like there is something very painfully ironic about it all and it is hysterical in that sense. at least that much i can admit hsiajsks. But truly if some ppl find that wuwa offers them sth better than genshin then good for em, dont let my highly lukewarm reception ruin ur enjoyment. just end the fucking drama farm and disingenuous claims to gas up ur own cope and hype

It's a merry mix of all three options! :'D I definitely predominantly just draw and then decide to turn it into merch after. Usually I already know anything I do will lend itself well to a print and a sticker at the least! So I don't stress about other merch. Totes are another one that's pretty easy since they're usually sublimated so it just prints everything in the original design! And sometimes I do luck out and what I made just happens to fit a lot of merch.

In terms of working backwards from merch to design, I worked as a graphic designer for some time! So my brain is also used to starting at the merch level and working forwards into making art for a specific product. Usually when I do that though it's because I'm doing merch that art usually needs a certain legibility/readability for or because it's merch that needs to have specific parameters kept in mind. For example! When ECCC asked me to make something with them, I asked what merch it'd be for. I didn't want to make something and then have to deconstruct it to make it fit the merch they were going to make. They let me know they were intending to use it for a tee! So the things I kept in mind while working from merch to the art were the fact that tees do best with flat colour whether they are screenprinted or printed direct to garment! So I tried to work big, bold, and flat so the design read well. :))

Pins are also another example of a place I need to work from merch to art. When I put out a pin I am taking a piece that either had a lot of small nuances and simplifying it like mad! Or if I'm ONLY designing a pin and it's not based off of a big piece, then I am starting simple to begin because it's difficult to find a manufacturer that can handle a lot of nuance sometimes.

Here's an example of a piece that ended up becoming a revamped pin years later! I believe I first made the piece in 2019? The pins came out Summer of 2022. :)) You can def see a lot of the changes I made for the sake of making it a clear pin! I changed her halo, simplified the skulls even more, got rid of her ivy crown, changed the rib cage to be more dramatic, etc.

And lastly!! An example of starting at the art and ending at the merch for me would be my very loved Fresa Boba Demon! ♡ I made her in 2021 but for 2022 I zhuzhed her up with some fun design elements to make her an overall better design for a fun tote! Her tagline when I dropped her was 'Thirsty?' so I took it and ran with it. That ended up inspiring a matching keychain for when I turned her into a keychain and a lanyard to boot once I had the design elements together. :))
