RONANCE APPRECIATION WEEK day seven: free theme / hawkins social media (3/?) ∟ celeb au where robin, an indie solo artist and half of Double Shift (a popular indie band with her childhood friend, steve harrington), who is also very popular online for her unhinged/unfiltered presence on social media, shoots her shot with oscar bait film actress nancy wheeler and ends up actually getting her attention. she claims to be dating nancy, but her fans don't believe her (because they just usually don't believe anything either her or steve say unless there's solid proof from an impartial third party) until, a month later, robin releases a music video starring nancy herself two days after nancy confirms their relationship on a Late Night talk show.

Kirby and the Amazing Mirror is a pretty interesting game especially for a mainline title

It contains some cool characters that originate from that game such as Big Waddle Dee,Moley,Dark Meta Knight and Capcom’s Nightmare -

What the fuck are you Dark Mind? I’m sick of it

There is two things that really intrigues me with this series,thing number one:

Fuck you Dark Mind!

(A small essay/analysis/theory(?) about a very mysterious villian in the Kirby series,under the cut!)

Okay,I think Dark Mind is the most Nothing Burger mainline Kirby villian ever,if not in the entire series

Almost nothing is known about him ingame besides “He is evil and wants to take over the Mirror World”

And yeah,he is referenced by Void Termina in one of their attacks which might mean something but like,almost every boss is so he is not special

I will argue that Nightmare and Dark Nebula (two similar final bosses with little to no info on them) are more talked about,the former because of the anime (without it,he won’t really be that popular me thinks) and the latter because ‘Lord of the Underworld’ title (despite being a localization thing) and his possible connection to the Sparkling Star among other reasons

Not saying nobody cares for him at all,he just have less attention then all of the other mainline villians because the lack of depth and info he has compare to the others

Now,a theory that I have seen thrown around is that Dark Mind is the Mirror World counterpart of either Nightmare or Zero.or even a combination of both counterparts,and yeah,I can see it especially since he have aspects of both of them

However

As shown in this official tweet by the Kirby Twitter account,it heavily implies that Magolor doesn’t have a mirror counterpart because nothing is shown while looking at the dimensional mirror

This tells me that not everyone has a Mirror World self and if Magolor doesn’t have one,I seriously doubt both Nightmare and Zero would have one as well

I still do think that Dark Mind is atleast somewhat connected to Dark Matter,even if it’s just the substance and not the actual species (if that makes sense)

His name brings the phrase “Mind over Matter” to mind (heh,mind) which means this:

So my epic game theory is that maybe he is like,a advanced version of Dark Matter that gained perception or something???? I think that would be cool

Or maybe he is just his own thing exclusive to the Mirror World,since some Mirror Worlders (like Dark Meta Knight) reflects the darkness their Popstar counterpart,maybe Dark Mind was formed by the leftover darkness from the hearts of many? That may be true but it is still very vague compare to other bosses lore

There is the possibility that he corrupted Queen Sectonia because of the whole mirror thing,it’s way more likely then DMK doing it,that’s for sure

Oh,let’s now talk about something that is also l related to Dark Mind,sorta!

This is King D-Mind from the Team Kirby Clash Deluxe,a king of darkness who is summoned through the Black Mirror by Dark Taranza but he proceeded to shatter the dumb spider

After clashing with Team Kirby,they managed to trap him back the mirror and shatter it,saving the Dream Kingdom

He also had a role in Super Kirby Clash but idgaf

I found some interesting stuff like with Taranza using the Black Mirror so much that the balance of worlds breaks and lots of Parallel versions are born alongside Taranza’s dark counterpart

And King D-Mind being born from Dark Taranza’s evil mind who he considers to be the most strongest and savage warrior

Let’s take a look at the Black Mirror itself actually,it bears a striking resemblance to Dark Mind himself,perhaps it was created with him in mind or his origin place because remember,even before Dark Taranza summoned him,King D-Mind was manipulating regular Taranza through this mirror to summon rampaging monsters

Of course,the Kirby Clash games take place in a alternate universe but I always saw the Mirror World as can be visited/connected to all these universes as long if they have a variant of the Dimensional Mirror

Oh,and also it’s probably not important but his internal file name is “MaskedBlackDedede” Black Dedede being Shadow Dedede name In Japanese,but there is not enough evidence (if at all) to suggest Shadoe Dedede and D-Mind are the same

In fact,this might not even BE the same Dark Mind from the Amazing Mirror

So like,can multiple D-Minds exist as long as if people has evil minds? What’s up with the skull mask and flaming eyeballs? Did Dark Taranza considered both Shadow Dedede and Dark Mind as extremely savage it created King D-Mind?

Who knows?

So in conclusion,idk,maybe Dark Mind isn’t meant to be that deep,he was just a villian that needed to be overcomed and that’s it

Hi writeblr!! Sooo, I've been around here since about 2014. (Yes, I am ancient.) However, I've been dormant for the past 4-5 years. Blame college and a brief stint on Twitter. Now that I'm active again, I thought I should make an updated writeblr intro so ppl know my Deal. Basically, I want to engage with other folks who write fiction (esp original SF), and that's a little easier if I have a clear post that outlines what I do. 5-book gothic fantasy epic that I'll definitely publish one day but probably no time soon! My bastard child, my wicked firstborn, my greatest love <3

Character-oriented political drama set in a pseudo-Victorian, dystopian oligarchy where everyone's heart is made out of metal. It's about coming of age and discovering queer identity in a world that is absolutely fucked. God is an extraterrestrial lesbian who gives ppl very traumatizing magic powers. There are cyborgs, shapeshifters, and morally gray women in STEM. It's tight as fuck idk what else what to tell u.

Book 1 is about achillean monarchists, and book 2 is about sapphic anarchists. There are only two genders, I guess.

At this point, I've drafted most of the books at least once. Working to refine a lot of raw material atm!

Lost Letters – Book

Aka the current active HoL WIP, and book one in the revised series structure

Length: 80k as of now; around 120-140k when the first draft is finished, I presume.

Genre: adult fantasy, gothic, noir detective drama?? um?? If you want me to frame it in BookTok terms (why?) it's a dark academia villain x villain tragic romantasy. Hrgh.

Summary: Cyborg soldier goes to college, joins a shady socialite frat, and falls in love with the jilted heir-apparent to the throne. Hilarity ensues.

(By "hilarity," I mean a militant revolutionary faction and a tragedy of Greek proportions.)

POV characters: Charles (the cyborg), Dale (the heir), and Cecelia (Charles' sister, a junior detective, the love of my life and potentially the Chosen One???)

This book is twisty and dark and immensely fun to write.

I'm about halfway through the first full draft! Hoping to share snippets and vaguepost about my children here.

Length: a standalone work that will hopefully fall on the shorter novel/novella spectrum.

Summary: The consciousness of a dead coding genius, trapped inside a spaceship, seeks a new planet to sustain their sister, the last surviving human, after the destruction of Earth.

If you're here to get wildly philosophical about gender and the myth of essential self, this is the story for you! That's why I'm writing it, lol. 🏳️‍⚧️ 🚀 🤖

This one started out as a short story (100% finished) which I want to expand.

POV: Archer Alto, the coder. Spaceship? Human? Soul?

Supporting Cast: Pandora, the last human, and Abby, a holographic impression of Archer's childhood consciousness

FFXIVWRITE 2024, PROMPT #22: WARNING (Free Day) tw: none • words: 1191

a statement or event that warns of something or that serves as a cautionary example

Deeza had always been one for adventure - whether when they were younger, with their crew, or now they were grown, as a mercenary or guard. The latter is how they found themselves in the New World, having boarded a ship with a man who had agreed to pay them a lot of money in order to accompany them in search for newfound information, of a land rarely set foot on by Eorzeans.

They had no reason to say no, after all, and a new place meant new people and new monsters to test their mettle against. And so, they had agreed. The boat ride they took with ease, enjoying the freeing feeling that came with sailing upon open seas, as wind tousled short cut hair.

The city of Tuliyollal was taken with stride; its food tasted, its people met, its customs respected. Dee was rough and tumble, that much was true, but they knew they were an outsider in foreign lands and did their best to not upset that balance with their presence.

Plus, they had been asked by their employer to be on their best behaviour. So, they would be. They were escorting a scholar, after all. They didn’t need to be a complete brute.

Deeza had been told they would be here for about a week, if not two. And they would be allowed some down time in order to go about their own business. The scholar did not need guarding when they were staying in the city, after all. Or when they were in other able company.

While few were allowed passage across the bridge that would span between Yok Tural, their current whereabouts, and Xak Tural - the scholar had managed, somehow, to talk his way into being let through, in order to help with the current investigations around the Unlost World.

Deeza did not care for this part of the work, their brain mostly tuning out the yapping as they escorted the scholar to Sheshenewezi Springs, citing they would be back later while they conducted their research with the locals.They would be safe enough, they figured. Given there were plenty of other scholars and adventurers around these parts looking into the matter themselves - it had become a hot topic, even if Dee was largely uninterested.

The plains of Shaaloani were not unlike that of Ul’dah, in some ways. It was hot, the sun scorching down upon the dusty ground. Cacti roamed, though different in shapes and sizes. A large city was not at its north, but a peaking mountain range. It was quaint, and in a way, familiar.

Through their travels, Deeza had found that there were a couple of other settlements that they had passed by on the way to the Springs, but did not have the pleasure of stopping at - though they were told of plenty of bandits that roamed around. They were not concerned with the latter, and decided to walk south towards the settlements that had been left in passing.

A Rroneek had been offered, but frankly, Deeza did not trust the beasts all that much yet - they were unfamiliar to the Keeper, so they would keep their distance, and go by foot, even if again they were warned of the dangers.

The sun was bright in the sky, glaring down upon the dark skinned Miqo’te as they followed the vague dirt paths that stretched between each settlement. The creatures of this land kept to themselves, grazing lazily in the open plains, as they walked by rocky hills and plateaus. In the shade of the sun there was a slight wind, causing a chill, but nothing the heavily clad Keeper couldn’t handle.

Fingers idly stretched at their side, flexing out and causing the earth to rumble beneath their feet as they walked - no real purpose to their steps, or to the aether they used. Just keeping idle hands busy on the otherwise uneventful walk. Until a rock upon a hill tumbled down, causing the Keeper to snap their mismatched gaze up as they paused in their steps.

Ears perked up high, listening out for any signs of an ambush. They were walking alone - and to anyone else, unarmed, but they did not look like anyone of import - just a common adventurer. Then again, Deeza knew not how low the gangs around here would stoop, and they were an outsider all the same. It was better to air on the side of caution.

The earth began to ripple and warp as their hand remained stretched out, clumps of dirt drifting up to their palm before it would solidify in a handle, and with it, the rest of a great earthen axe would form.

They held it loosely in their scarred hand, casting their gaze one more upon the top of the hill they were passing, before steps carried them forward once more. Shoulders tensed with the weight of their new weapon, but they continued on as if nothing was the matter. Even if the hairs on the back of their neck were standing up.

A sharp whistle sounded out as they took a few more steps, and while ears moved to hone in on the noise, they kept their stride. Metal greaves clunking in the dirt, they would come to the edge of the hill. Several footsteps could be heard now, closer, shuffling down rocks and scurrying to an ambush behind a rocky crevice.

Deeza tilted their head, jaw squaring off as a soft sigh left them. “Y’gonna’ regret it,” they’d call out, at first. Letting them know they knew they were there, and that if they wanted a fight, the Keeper would deliver. The axe was hefted up, coming to rest across their shoulders as they stayed still.

The shuffling of feet came to a stop, no more rocks disturbed by movement, and the Keeper waited.

They heard it, before they had time to react. The cock of a gun and the firing of a pistol that sent a warning shot to the dirt behind them. Deeza turned quickly, fangs on show as a snarl left their dark painted lips; before them, a Miqo’te - or, as they were called here, a Hhetsarro. Long blond hair pulled into a high ponytail, their own mismatched gaze looking down the barrel of a gun that was pointed right at the Miqo’te.

“Y’gonna’ regret it,” they spoke, a drawl to their words, not dissimilar to Deeza’s own accent. But different, in many other ways. An unknown twang they couldn’t quite place.

Ears stayed high up, as they heard the scurry of footsteps once more, as a handful of men wielding their own weapons would not creep out to block Deeza’s exit to the south. The hand not holding the axe across their shoulders would raise up, a slight grin tugging at the corners of their lips.

“Ah, c’mon now, w’can talk ‘bout this, righ’?” They could fight about it, too. But if they ended up maiming some locals, they would only get an earful from the scholar upon their return. So, they would try talking, first. They could usually talk their way out of most things.

meet dee! dee is a tuxedo kitty that is one of the friendliest kitties you'll ever meet! they greet everyone they meet and are never shy to get to know new friends! dee is very silly at playtime and can often be found tumbling around for no apparent reason other than fun :3

dee is based on one of the polyam flags and their alt theme is blue raspberry candy! I really like the new polyam flag with the yellow heart as well so in the future I may have any accessories I make for them include that detail!

And yeah, although Farmer is not very fond of Crafter, he is still in a "neutral" spectrum (Neutral leaning to dislike, but never dislike-dislike)

Farmer is not the type to hold a grudge but... Yeah...

Say what you want but despite the series' flaws and the bad dub the Forgotten Land arc was the best season of Kirby X
