There's so much more I want to say about the relationship between Ded and Tomte, and on Tomte's growth as a person as he takes back his memories (and in doing do, his agency), but I'll save that for another part, because I really want to focus on this interaction here.

This isn't simply an expression of gratitude or apology. This is Ded taking responsibility for his actions. He thought he was doing the right thing by Tomte by sacrificing himself; he thought he was making the choice to save Tomte's future, without ever thinking of what that future would look like for Tomte. I can't help but wonder if, this entire time he'd looked after amnesiac Santa Tomte, he was aware of the possibility this might happen. When the Santa Scoundrels began popping up, I can't help but wonder if, by going down this route, he was thinking of this as a means of getting close to his friend, and if he thought this was a way of atoning for the pain he'd inadvertently inflicted on child Tomte.

(But of course, none of that was inherently his fault. It's not wrong for him to simply exist; this is something Tomte had to grapple for himself, but more tellingly, something Tomte had to grapple for Ded's existence too.)

There's just something exonerative about this, not just because Ded is realising and recognising where and how he did Tomte wrong. He's also coming to terms with how he'd shortchanged his own life too; how his prioritising of Tomte, though understandable and laudable, closed him off from other possibilities. He didn't ask for help and he didn't seem to have consulted anyone else on what he could have done instead; that failure to share his burden meant that, however unwittingly, it fell fully to Tomte to bear.

And while child Tomte's pain was not his fault, adult Tomte's definitely is. By withholding information till the very last second, by forcing this choice onto Tomte, and then by making that choice for him, he took away Tomte's agency. However well-intentioned he'd been, he took agency away from someone who'd previously already lost their agency to Eden. He didn't mean to, but he actively made that pain worse.

It's important that he acknowledges that. No matter how good a person is, it doesn't preclude them from hurting others. Ded had Tomte's best interests at heart, but he still deeply hurt Tomte through his actions.

What makes this scene more powerful is the hope and reconciliation. Because Ded does learn from his missteps: despite all the urgency, the desperation, he does get to chance to hear what Tomte actually wants. He gets the chance to make actual amends and receive his actual absolution, and this is only possible because he and Tomte are finally on the same page and seeing each other eye-to-eye — he is finally seeing Tomte as a fully realised individual, rather than only as his beloved pupil that he needs to protect.

As noted before, Mystic Christmas is a parallel to the Main Quest. We are given of glimpse of what could be, if MC could overcome their obstacles and save the person they want to save the most. That ending is possible, but only if sensei is willing to be saved. Only if sensei is willing to see MC for who they are, rather than what he wants for them or what he thinks they could be. Only if sensei is willing to set aside his pride and ask for help, to let go of the past (of all those versions of MC that never got to live), to place yet another load on the shoulders of an overburdened child.

And I get why he might look at the cost of putting aside his convictions and feel that it's too high to bear. But sensei, don't you see? Sharing a burden lightens it. You've pigeon-holed yourself into a dead end, much as Ded did. You've lost sight of hope and of possibilities. You've lost sight of what makes life worth living, because you don't think of yourself as living, nor as deserving of life.

But despite everything, just like Mystic Christmas, Housamo is a tale of hope and redemption. That's why I think in the endgame, MC will revisit this conversation with Mononobe; and this time, Mononobe will actually mean his gratitude and his apology, and MC will take his hands and forgive him, and show him the way forward.

Finally read Mystic Christmas and.... wow, that sure is a lot of narrative foils going on... Tomte for MC, Ded for Mononobe, the unfair naughty/nice dichotomy for the Game/loops, the imposition of Eden's belief system for the superimpositions of the Exiles......

Heck, you can even make the argument that Tomte's struggle to repress his naughty side parallels the fact that MC is never given the opportunity to actually voice their grievances. They always have to be nice and forgiving, and if not entirely understanding, then at least sympathetic, and definitely compassionate. They always have to rush to help, because if they're not good, if they're not needed, then why would anyone want them around? What meaning would there be to their existence(s)?

(And the whole, "I hate the symbol, but I want the man behind it back. My life went to hell because of what he represents, but I want him back. He gave me an impossible choice, then made the choice for me, without saying anything, before I could even make it, because he knew that either choice would hurt me, but the choosing most of all. Still, I want him back.")

The place reflecting onto your screen was Tokyo's Santa School. However, not everyone are aware of this school's existence or what was even different about it--

That's why it is accurate to say that Snegurochka, or whatever she goes by, could be said as multiple entities at once. However--

[Ded] "This girl here is the santa of [Envy], there is longing in her eyes, and right now, her sole purpose is to produce more snow."

"You could say [Snegurochka is more than that], because of the legends surrounding her, words of the girl being my granddaughter came to be."

[Snegurochka] "Yeah! From this point onwards, I will be right here with Grandpa Ded!"

Snegurochka loudly declares as she hands out her permanent residential occupancy registration.

[Snegurochka] "In the meantime, I would like to have someone aid me around the school for the time being. No, why don't we spend some time together? I have so much to talk to you about, grandpa."

After that, Yule and the others leave the principal's office and Snegurochka, for the first time, has caught herself in a rough start by tidying up the room.

[Snegurochka] "Then, how about Jack or Jacky? Hrm.. Just as I thought, big brother fits you better, I think… No good?"

[Jack Frost] "… Honestly, no matter what you call me, I'll still hand an ear out for you."

[Snegurochka] "Then, I'll leave it to you to guide me around the school! I can't wait to see what grandpa's school has to offer."

With a giddy Snegurochka holding onto Jack frost, the two then started their exploration around the school.

[Animation of them being avoided by students throughout the school.]

They went to visit the school grounds, dining hall, and the main classrooms, but Snegurochka's voice calling out to Jack Frost has him halting to turn to her.

[Snegurochka] "Hey, big brother. I know you said I shouldn't let go of you as we explore our surroundings.."

"Bro, don't tell me that.. You don't have any friends at school.. Do you?"

Snegurochka's question aimed right through his heart, so much so that Jack's voice felt as though clogged down his throat.

[Jack Frost] "Don't you know how to put down a subject delicately, especially when you know about it!?"

[Snegurochka] "Huh? I'm sorry. Don't pay me no mind, I was just pondering…"

[Jack Frost] "… In santa classes, it is natural and normal to ask such questions, it is common to do so to figure out if the child is being good or not. I might look like I seem to be the type to be failing my classes but I'm just a noncomforming type of guy."

"It's pretty normal to me now that no one wants to approach me anyway."

[Jack Frost] "(… Alright, it is essential for me to make friends for the first time, I-I'll summon up the courage and go for it!)"

Jack Frost's eyes were brimming with determination, scanning his surroundings for a potential opportunity to talk to someone. But no matter how hard he scanned, there just isn't anyone he could find.

[Jack Frost] "(N-no way…!? Are you kidding me, I'm so delayed that everyone seems to have already formed groups with one another!?)"

"(It's over.. My new school term start has already ended.. Along with my happy school life…)"

[Jack Frost] "Just as you said. Even I have tried initiating conversations with other multiple times, but it's still--"

[Female Student] "… It's just that there's this coldness about you, like a flu that's being churned out?"

Whenever Jack Frost was nearby, he would notice that the students and their friends were behaving in awkward and aloof whenever he approaches. He made a mental note about it.

[Female Student] "Aa, ahahaha! Jack, good morning! I'm fine, my bodies as healthy as can be!"

"Geez, you know it isn't the time of the year, you know? Why can't you be a warm type and let us wear something else underneath, you get me~?"

[Jack Frost] "Ahahah~…"

[Jack Frost] "Even though it's spring, whenever I am around my surroundings would always turn into winter that they can't help but cover up due to the coldness. You're a snow woman, so they'll likely be more fond of you than me."

"I'm a perfectly fit and large dude so people tend to pay more attention to me by surprise, some of them also had poor health conditions so a guy like me would be a no go."

"I get the hint and leave, some have even lost interest in talking to me at all."

Even as she was getting the hint in Jack wanting to be left alone, Snegurochka continues to cling onto him further tightly.

[Snegurochka] "Don't sweat about it, I'll be here for awhile. Eheheh, me and big brother Jack's school school life as friends will begin here."

[Jack Frost]

"… I look forward to it. It does seem like I'm just befriending a kid here."

[Snegurochka] "Again, just like I said, I request that I be in the same classroom as big brother jack will be afterwards!"

[Jack Frost] "I told you that there's not enough time for you to be in the classes yet! Y-you understand?"

"It's just impossible for you. Aren't you still in middle school? Well, in all honesty, I'm the one here walking on eggshells with you."

"The santa school is about learning actual abilities and determines whether you are fit for the role, you on the other hand is just a elementary student who's judging me according to your opinion only, no, perhaps you want me to tell you more about it?"

With those received words, Snegurochka opened her application. Not far long, she pulls the small object out in front of him.

[Snegurochka] "Big brother, just who do think my grandfather is that you're talking to? I am a santa claus, I inherited it after my grandpa!"

"Let's go, Ru-chan! GO ✬ SNOW MAIDEN MAKE UP!!"

She opened her compact and parts of the powder traces around her hand and then everywhere else, engulfing her in complete white snow.

The power of the snow of Snegurochka's body conceals her form till it gradually turn into clothing, transforming it completely--

[Snegurochka] "Magical girl Snegurochka, reporting in! Now, I shall be lending an ear to your plea!"

Once Snegurochka's transformation was over, she reaches out her hand to him. The outfit matching every little tidbit of what makes one a magical girl and molds her entire form into it.

A large cane is present and is thrusted upwards, causing a ray of vivid rainbow into the sky. Snegurochka also stroked a pose while at it in display.

The rainbow of colors is akin to a voice calling out from behind to get in the train by a reindeer transient who also turns into an actual reindeer to gallop around.

It was almost as though Snegurochka's trait could be compared and were as similar to her grandfather's as this body continues to bear life.

Jack frost on the other hand had only but the blankest expression one could make.

[Snegurochka] "Hold up~! If you could spare me some of you time-- [Oops!] I mean, it's fine if don't want to!"

[Jack Frost] "No, it's not that I'm leaving. It's more that if anyone hears you here I am dipping…"

[Snegurochka] "Whaa, what's up with that~? If so, then let's might as well just hurry and wrap it up!"

[Jack Frost] "(There seems to be only one santa here and a reindeer named Patty, both of them are hard to juggle so I might just repel them a bit here--)"

Much to Jack Frost's surprise, he starts to sympathize with it almost instictively. This small bit of power was too much to overly suspect, and so--

In the middle of the town, there was a man who seemed to be lost in the middle of the night. Jack Frost was seemingly by himself, standing at that time. But it wasn't the usual thing he'd experience, it was something else and he learned it at that moment.

[Ded] "Just the same as ever, your working figure is something to commend about. An unidentifiable street artist of this new generation, a santa claus."

"This work of yours, you have such incredible taste. During my time this was considered as something absurd but now you could put a price on that and make a living out of it. How about contributing some of it to the orphanage or any charitable institution?"

"As for the result-- How about I hand you an indirect present instead."

"You only reveal your true self during the night only, you know within yourself that you have the skill to appreciate the spacious area before you. The asceticism of an artist is truly a wonderful thing to possess so I have to commend you for that."

[Jack Frost]

".. A winner, huh? Such is the way of life, what good does it benefit me when it's just a bunch of graffiti of doodles. I suppose it is in my nature to be that."

"I do this because this is the only proof I'll have of my existence once I am gone, like a window to a blade of grass. I am merely passing time with the amount of lengthened time I have, to even compare it to some arts out there is…"

The spray can blows it's painting material away, but Jack Frost's line of sight freezes for a moment, someone else has completed the graffiti before him.

During the entire night, there is but the temperature that remains by the arrival of morning, and yet Ded's word were still there. There are children there who needs him--

[Jack Frost] "… I still can't discern your true character no matter how much time passes with you. If there is a way I can be permitted to elevate myself, this graffiti art I've been making might no longer be considered a criminal act."

[Ded] "Same goes to you, Jack. At surface level, you're thinking about wanting to leave this situation of yours and move elsewhere, right?"

"Little by little, you've realized that you're moving from your strict principles. One is from graffiti and there is another thing--"

[Jack Frost] "Teacher Ded, I am quite busy here and yet here you are running my ears off with your tangents whenever you arrive."

Jack Frost lends Ded Moroz only a deaf ear seeing that he seems to be laughing at how troubled he seemed to be.

[Ded] "There is still time for you to spread out your wings further, you can assess me as you follow me from behind and make your judgement then."

[Jack Frost] "… Teacher Ded? I wanted to thank you for taking the time in comforting me."

The headmaster, Ded, does as he promised and the two continue to talk with one another. Santa, as he explained it, is a role that one must commit to no matter what crimes he has done--

[Ded] "I.. These powers of mine are but compensated to sacrifice for others and obtain things for them."

[Jack Frost] "That isn't something for you to say out loud, do want to have a scandal or something? For someone so well regarded to do this.."

No matter what Ded says, there is but only the tender kindness, his words carry a sense of eloquence to it.

"Big brother Jack, what's up with you..? Were you that captivated by my transformation that much?"

[Jack Frost]

"There isn't like that that happened. More like I seem to have recalled something."

Ded stood in the doorway to the hospital room staring as if he were in a trance, his heart felt as if it were breaking at seeing them in bandages and a cast, he felt the need to run away but couldn't, he felt as if his feet were made of lead as he stood there until he felt Krampus grab his hand.

Krampus-c'mon headmaster, go say hello, we're all right here with ya.

Ded smiled at Krampus before walking into the room.

MC-hey Ded!, glad you came by, I missed you so-umph.

Before they could get another word out, they found themselves quickly engulfed in Ded's gentle embrace, tears spilled from the old Santa's eyes as he spoke.

Ded-oh, my dear, dear child, look at what they've done to my beloved MC, how could anyone ever hurt such a child as kind as you?

MC melted into his embrace feeling happy that he was there, but at the same time angry that their assailant had caused him so much pain.

MC-please don't cry, it makes me sad, you look much better when you smile and laugh.

Ded pulls away wiping away his tears before smiling.

Ded-when did you become the grown up here?

MC-when you started crying like a baby.

Ded-ho, ho, ho, yes, I guess I have forgotten that I'm supposed to be the adult here, oh?, it seems that my other self would like to see something as well.

Dark Ded-finally, ya really gave me a scare ya brat!, guess I should stick close to ya so you don't go causin' anymore trouble!

MC-are those tears I see?

Dark Ded-n-no!, I'm not cryin'!, I just have somethin' in my eyes is all!

MC goes up to him before wrapping their arms around his waist and smiling up at him.

He then returns their embrace with his own, holding them close as if they were a precious jewel that needed to be protected.

Dark Ded-I thought I lost ya sweetie, I'm never lettin' ya get hurt Like this ever again.

Ded then leans his face down pressing his lips to theirs in a gentle kiss before switching back with light Ded.

Ded-oh my, such a bold move on your part, But don't think your going to be the only one who gets to spoil them!

Ded then leans in again and gently presses his lips to theirs once more.

Ded-ho, ho, ho!, now I believe I have spoiled you enough for now.

Mato-hold up now, your datin' Santa Clause too?!

Ded turns at Mato's outburst, he then smiles at the large bear.

Ded-ho, ho, ho!, Mato, it is good to see you again my friend.

MC-you know him?

Ded-ho, ho, yes my love, he is one of my top nice listers here in Tokyo, every Christmas I come to this hospital to deliver presents to the children who are sick or are still recuperating from surgery or injury, Mato has been very helpful especially when my back begins to act up.

Soon another knock at the door draws everyone's attention before a fluffy blur runs inside heading towards MC.

Both Snow and Macan step in front of them and block Garmr, preventing him from going any further.

Macan-yeah, we can't have ya gettin' carried away and makin' their injuries worse ya know.

Snow holds Garmr back until Horkeu Kamui steps into the room shortly after followed by Andvari and Bathym.

Horkeu Kamui-Garmr!, calm yourself!, lest you injure my beloved hero further!

Garmr then stops before Snow loosens his grip on him, allowing him to pass, Horkeu Kamui then strolls past before enveloping them in his muscular arms, the two of them looked into each others eyes before Horkeu Kamui leaned in kissing them on the cheek.

Horkeu Kamui-oh, my beloved hero, my MC.

Bathym-hey, don't think you get to have them all to yourself!

Andvari-yeah, let us have a turn!

Bathym practically snatches them from the wolf's arms before holding them tightly to his fluffy chest, Andvari following soon after.

Bathym-I was so worried about you sweetie, I thought you were a goner.

Andvari-ya gave us all a real scare, but I knew you'd be ok.

Ashigara-ack!, looks like my surprise idea is out!

Everyone soon enters the room, upon entering Wakan tanka runs up to MC, pulling them into an embrace with his mighty arms, overwhelmed with tears.

Ashigara and Yasuyori soon join in, tears falling from their faces.

He then gently takes them into his arms and resting his chin on their head all while gently rubbing their back, as he does he can somehow feel the pain of their wounds as if he had been injured himself, a sad expression then appears on his face followed by a stream of tears.

Kimun Kamui-yes Jacob, it saddens me as well, to think someone would hurt our beloved like this.

Macan-bring it on!, I've been lookin' for some payback for what they did to my mate!

Tajikarao-they shall face justice for their actions!

Magami-I will not allow anyone to hurt MC again!

everyone gives Daikoku a glare that would make death run the other direction before he continued.

Daikoku-yes well we have taken precautions and placed officers at the entrances and close by outside, we shall be on the lookout for these two.

Daikoku then holds up a photo of two red and blue lizard therians wearing black jackets.

Snow-so these are the two who hurt my beloved.

He scowls at seeing the two in the photo, a low growl escaping his lips and slightly baring his teeth.

Snow then steps into the hallway before taking out his phone and calling Claude.

back in the room everyone tries their best to keep calm about the threat to MC's life, however some begin to argue about who will stay and protect them.

Horkeu Kamui-I shall stay by my beloved hero's side until these fiends have been subdued!

Kimun Kamui-as shall I, as my beloved will need me to keep them safe.

Tajikarao-no, I shall remain by their side, as I am an officer, it is my duty to protect those in need.

Jacob then speaks up causing everyone to look in his direction.

Jacob-everyone calm yourselves!, we cannot all stay here to guard MC, as the room is not large enough to accommodate all of us, perhaps only a few should stay behind.

Tajikarao-I hate to admit it, however you are correct, I and officer Oguchi will be resuming our police duties tomorrow so its out of the question.

Kimun-and I and the others must make preparations for our beach trip this weekend.

Horkeu Kamui-that just leaves me, I shall stay and guard my hero then.

Arsalan-you and Zabaniyya can handle the rest of the preparations without me so count me in too!

Suddenly a voice erupts from the doorway startling everyone.

Hastur-I did not come here because I was worried about you, I simply had nothing better to do, but now that I am I shall allow you to bask in my presence.

Hastur-what the hell are you doing!, do not make light of me human!

Leib-drop the tough guy act, you were cryin' like the rest of us when I told you what happened.

Cusith-yeah he was almost bawling like a baby.

MC then walks closer to him.

Hastur-h-hey, stay where you are, come no closer, I mean it.

They then embrace him while smiling.

Before he knows it he returns their embrace, with a few tears streaming down his face.

MC-it's ok, I still love you.

Hastur-I was really worried about you, you know?

MC then looks over at Hogen and Daikoku with a quizzical look on their face.

MC looks around to see everyone with disappointed looks before making a decision that would shock all of them.

MC-well then, you can use me as bait.

Everyone-what?!

Snow-my love, please tell me you are not serious!

Ded-yes, I can't risk losing you again, please reconsider.

Arsalan-cub, we can always go another time, your safety is what really matters.

Macan-Usually I'm all for somethin' like this but I can't allow ya to put yer life in danger.

MC-we've been planning this trip for months, I'm not going to sit and cower like a scared kid, after all they made you all cry, I can't forgive them for that.

Hogen-my, seems like ya got a fire burnin' in ya now, I like it.

Snow-oh my, that fighting spirit, yes that is what I wanted to see, the blazing passion of your soul.

Ded-I suppose I can't stop you, I shall help in whatever way I can.

Arsalan-bwahahaha!, that's my cub for you!, never backs down.

Horkeu Kamui-I shall stand with you my hero!

Everyone then smiles at seeing MC's determination.

Daikoku-very well then, if that is what you wish then.

With that both Daikoku and Hogen leave.

Tajikarao-I am sorry, but I must take my leave of you my love.

Tajikarao then places a kiss on their cheek before he and Magami head out the door.

Wakan-we must be leaving as well as it has gotten quite late, until next we meet my MC.

As they head out Ashigara notices Yasuyori still standing in place as everyone else heads out.

Ashigara-hey babe ya comin'?

Yasuyori-n-no, you go on, I shall remain here beside our betrothed, if that's ok with you mister Mato?

Mato-sure, after all it's just one extra person, I'll go tell the doctor we'll be havin' some guests stayin' the night, as long as ya can behave yourselves.

Mato soon leaves and soon after everyone else follows leaving MC, Snow, Ded, Arsalan, Macan, Asterius, Horkeu Kamui and Yasuyori behind, after a little while of waiting Mato finally returns with some mattress's slung over his shoulder.

Mato-i'm back, the doctor gave the ok, so I brought ya'll some extra mattress's we had in storage.

Snow-I thank you Mato, you have been a big help to us.

Mato-don't mention it, after all Its the least I could do!

Snow and Mato then begin to set out the mattress's, as they do the door to the room slides open revealing Tsathoggua.

Tsathoggua-MC!

MC-Tsathoggua?

The large therian looks over before quickly running over and lifting them into his arms.

Tsathoggua-oh MC!, I'm so sorry.

MC-sorry?, for what?

Tsathoggua-for not bein' here for you sooner, I'm such a lousy boyfriend if I didn't even know that you were in the hospital yeah?

MC-it's ok, your here now right?

Tsathoggua wipes away the tears from his eyes before smiling back at them.

Tsathoggua-your right, I'm just glad your alright.

Mato-who's the big fella?

Snow-that is Tsathoggua, he lives in the Tokyo casino, he is also one of my beloved's suitors.

Mato-I think I've heard of him before, some of the kiddo's here have seen him and this Tindalos guy playin' games on social media.

MC began telling Tsathoggua what had happened in the last two days, as well as catching him up on the recent situation.

Tsathoggua-geez, what a pain in the rear, as if getting hurt wasn't bad enough, now your life is in danger?, I woulda been better off stayin' in bed yeah?

MC-its nice that you came though.

Tsathoggua-for you, I would run through raging hellfire, heh, heh.

time seems to move quickly around them as the sun begins to set and visiting hours conclude for the day leaving MC and the others in the room watching the small tv in the corner of the room until Mato brought them all something to eat from the hospital cafeteria.

Mato-eat up everyone!, tonights menu is grilled chicken, steamed veggies, and some hamburg steak, get it while its hot.

Snow-this all looks quite delicious.

Macan-anythin' is better than nothin' I guess.

Asterius-I-It looks really tasty, I b-bet it will taste even better with friends.

Ded-ho, ho, ho, yes, eating with others can be quite enjoyable.

Arsalan-yes, it can even help people get to know one another or even discover things about themselves.

Horkeu Kamui-indeed, it helps deepen the bond of others as well.

Yasuyori-me and Ashigara quite enjoy our eating contests on occasion, however I do wish he would not overdue himself as he made quite a mess of our bathroom after the last one.

Mato-when ya fellas are done eatin' you can put yer trays on the cart for tomorrow, I gotta go make my last rounds then i'm head for good ol' home sweet home.

MC-later Mato, see ya tomorrow.

Mato-bye bye sweet cub.

Everyone eats their food, all the while sharing stories of happiness and sadness they had experienced in their lives, everyone then begins to settle in for the night as the lights of the room turn off, all of them soon huddle together around a certain person, until sleep eventually comes for each of them.

Hello again lovelies! It's been a while since I posted this and Housamo has since then translated a bunch more events, so I wanted to add them to my ranking system.

29,5: Go Get 'Em, Tiger!

Another of those short new year events. Unfortunately, it's the one I like the least. I already talked about the problem in Battle of the Valentines, where they tried to insert too many characters and didn't have enough time to develop any of them properly. It's even more problematic in an event as short as this one. There aren't that many tigers in Housamo, so I really don't understand why they felt compelled to cram so many characters in there. Like Otohime shows up basically just to say "hi I hope you have a good day", then disappears, and great I suppose? That kinda stuff is fine in real life, but fiction requires a bit more efficiency. And that's just one example.

Poor Licho at the end was as desperate to spend time with the MC as I was to spend time with him, but we kept getting interrupted and it just felt like they were throwing all these distractions at me to obscure the fact that they didn't have anything to write about. A shame really.

19,5: Nightglows of the Starlit Sky

What is it with Housamo and introducing the most boring villains? I swear I don't even remember what this one was called, and he was the main guy they introduced.

It's another of those events with a fun concept, I like sci-fi and space dogfights as much as the next guy, but the cast they chose doesn't work together all that well. I really liked what they did with Breke but I feel like they could have pushed it a bit further maybe? It was smart of them to introduce him as MC's savior, kinda the opposite of his introduction in the main plot, but yeah I feel like they could have gone further with that relationship. Where was my daring rescue? Me cradling a bleeding captain in my arms, swearing that I would save him no matter what? Where is the DRAMA, Life Wonders???

The battle soundtrack is an absolute BANGER though. Overall it's a very middle of the road event, neither great nor bad.

17,5: Virtual Summer Memories

I'll be real: this event is saved by Yamasachihiko. His arc is clear and easy to follow with a happy resolution, he's cute, bubbly and adorably silly, you just wanna smooch him on both cheeks and offer him a glass of milk, I mean what's not to love?

This event, like many before and after, presents you with a short list of characters who all get an "arc", or rather a miniature character arc, one after the other. But... honestly the contrast between the importance of those arcs is a bit too great in this case? Shennong is like "oh maybe I can have fun and relax actually", Cleaner goes "oh maybe I don't have to do everything alone, heh", and then you have Hombre Tigre who literally is about to GIVE UP HIS LIFE and you have to teach him that he is important too and that there should be a limit to his loyalty and DAMN, this shouldn't have been handled as casually as it was! Another banger soundtrack, along with some banger visuals made this an overall pleasant experience. But it could've been better.

16,5 Valentine Fantasy

I really wasn't sure how high or low to place that one, and it was ultimately bumped lower on the rating when I realized I didn't remember much about it. I remember having fun, but I don't recall exactly why?

I know that I thoroughly enjoyed Boogieman, I recall being absolutely astounded when I heard his voice lines for the first time (he was like "bruh I'm so nice but everyone's afraid of me" and I only understood why when I heard his voice, holy moly I would be scared too). Giving us a character like this tickles my monsterfucker side, he's a super hot "villain" but he's afraid of being vulnerable and intimate, which is rather compelling.

Balor's betrayal was surprisingly sneaky, in a game usually as straightforward as Housamo, it's nice to get a twist every now and then. This one was hard to predict while not feeling like it came out of nowhere either.

Another banger soundtrack, probably one of my all time favorites. We've really been blessed in that department lately.

11,5: Sunshine Christmas

Finally giving some love to our peeps on the southern hemisphere! And here I was thinking they just wanted an excuse to have Ded in a swimsuit.

I think this event had just the right amount of tension, with a genuine threat to take down but that's also a little silly ("Oh no! We must destroy the big piñata in the sky!" Where else am I going to get such bonkers plot lines?). It may have seemed dull to some people but I thought it presented some interesting challenges. The world of Housamo being based on belief, you have to make people believe that Christmas isn't over: on paper that's rather simple, but in practice, that's a real tough task to handle! Miss Ziz' pastorella wasn't as fun as Krampus' ranger show in Jiangshi Night but I did like how Choji's trials showed us a new side of him. Hiring some ninjas on motorbikes to make them steal the rosca de reyes and thus making them appear more desirable to the audience is both smart and surprisingly daring for someone like him.

Itzamna was very adorable, I loved it every time he called himself "this old lizard" and when he rambled about the past, he was very charming and it was a delight calling him "gramps" when the game allowed me to. As usual, the Christmas events don't disappoint.

Housamo events from worst to best

Aight so I was bored and decided to rank all the « event quests » from Housamo, from worst to best. As I’m writing this, 31 of them have been translated so far, most recent one being “Seaside Fashionista”. So like, I guess here we go. It’s going to be a long post, folks.

#31 Raiders of the Lost Isle

Let’s get this out of the way: not a big fan of shotas. Makes me feel uncomfortable to be honest. So an event centered around one is unlikely to win my favor – but even without that, Raiders of the Lost Isle is strangely boring. It’s not that I have an issue with the premise (though I will say that adding another layer of amnesia to a protagonist that was already defined by amnesia may have been a bit much), but the execution is surprisingly bland. So little goes on in this mystery island! Tangaroa is the most boring daddy this game has ever presented to me, and Dagon’s expository evil dialogue nearly had me falling asleep. Not much to salvage here. The music kinda bangs tho

#30 Black Snow on the Hot Spring Mountains

This one’s a mess y’all. It’s so long, too. Did it really have to be nine parts long? Usually with these event quests, the beginning is a little boring, but when they get to the meat of the story (quite literally in some cases), it becomes a lot more interesting. For this one, it was the opposite. Zao’s introduction as a mountain enthusiast was pretty fun, but then as soon as he gives up on you to fulfill his “mountain healing ritual” or whatever it was, the story completely loses all sense of direction. It’s just the poor MC climbing mountain after mountain, meeting with so many characters who have absolutely nothing to do there, and being attacked by an infuriatingly large amount of wyverns. The part with Hogen and the Tengu school of sword fighting (what) felt like it was ripped out of a different story entirely. I genuinely don’t think the MC could have had a worst day if he tried. At least they allow you to be rude to Zao, for the sake of Catharsis. And no, Life Wonders, seing Kengo in a speedo doesn’t make up for the poor writing! I did like the part with Chernobog though – but I think his later appearances were better handled.

Also (last point of contention before I move on), for an event solely based on the beauty of the mountains, I feel like they should have maybe worked a little harder on the backgrounds. Zao being like “Look at this beautiful sight” once you reach the peak, and then it’s just… a blurry picture or an ugly 3D model. Not a good look.

#29 The Afterschool Hero and the Fantastic Boyfriends

Gosh, what is even going on in that one. The concept is really not dumb; they had all those backgrounds, characters and soundtracks from Fantastic Boyfriends, so might as well use ‘em. But the issue is they have too much of it – and they don’t seem to know what to do with it. I think this event is probably a lot more fun if you’ve actually played Fantastic Boyfriends, but it really doesn’t work well on its own. My main issue is with the plot in this one, though. It’s too generic. It’s actually the most generic medieval fantasy story I’ve ever witnessed, I believe. That part at the end when you end up inside the protag’s mind was very weird, but not in a bad way. I think that’s what I liked the most about this event. That, and Sol’s attack sprite, hehe.

#28 Lil’ Salomon’s Golden Week

That one’s not… bad, really. But it’s not super memorable either, and also really short. I mostly remember that one exchange between Motosumi and Marchosias, about what it takes to be a good dad. Or the part where Licht and Kuniyoshi become friends. Like, it’s pretty sweet, granted, but it doesn’t go really far. No new characters introduced either, no new sprites, it’s not a very exciting one overall.

#27 Battle of the Valentines

You might be surprised to see such a recent event ranked so low on the roster. I think the issue with that one is that they tried to forcefully cram in as many characters as they could – but they went a bit too far, and the event feels unnecessary crowded. McRoich doesn’t really work as a character for me either. For one thing “Youth” is a bit strange of a gimmick to assign any character, and he repeats the word so damn much that past a certain point I wanted to whack him on the head with a broomstick so he would shut up. Also, the “oh no my sacred artifact doesn’t work properly” plot line had already been done (poorly) with Gullinbursti, so bringing it back felt repetitive. Same thing for the “oh no, a collision of world” plot point. Out of all the collisions we’ve had, this one was probably the least necessary.

#26 Embark! Summer Ocean Adventure

I’ll say, this one introduces some amazing characters, but almost all of them are better known for what they do in other events. Ganglie is amazing in Desert Journey, Benten and Typhon shine a lot brighter in the second boat adventure, Makara has this short yet hilarious role in the Seaside Summer School event (where he roasts Claude for wanting to marry the ocean, long story), etc. The beginning of this event is pretty crazy (MC thinking that Benten intends to take a suicide while she was just trying to take a dramatic-looking selfie, resulting in both of them falling into the water and being captured by pirates) – but then it’s a bit of a roundabout journey, with no clear objective, besides going home (which isn’t exactly compelling). Black Storm is a really low tier villain too. I wouldn’t say this is a bad event overall, but it’s overshadowed by its successor.

#25 Year of the Wildest Boar

The new year events are always short, which makes sense. They come right after the (probably expensive) Christmas events, so there isn’t a lot of budget left. Sometimes that works, others… eh. I can’t forgive Gullinbursti for being such a lame character, mostly because he represents an archetype I love (the loyal servant), but which works so much better on other characters, like Tadatomo, Shino, or Yasuyori. Also the end where he goes alone in a cave to sulk is kind of a bummer, honestly. Like, why? Did they fear the Summoners would get a little too crowded if a new member joined them every year?

#24 A New Year’s Food Fracas: The Cleaner is on the Case!

I’ll say, I had absolutely no interest in the Cleaner before this event, but I warmed up to him a little. That’s something. I feel like reusing the slimes for the third time in a new year event was probably a bad call, though. Not much else to say, really. It was a decent event.

#23 O the Great Gendarme

I’ll say, I was very afraid they were just going to redo Black Snow on the Hot Spring Mountains, but this one really isn’t as bad. It’s not good enough to be called a redemption, but it’s still pretty neat. I liked Durga’s arc in this event, it was handled a tad more subtly than I expected. Also I was really surprised at how enjoyable the baseball match was. As absurd as it was to have a baseball match in the middle of a hike, it still worked very well. The villainess is forgettable, but you can’t win ‘em all.

#22 Gift from an apprentice Santa

Ah, the OG event. Not the best for sure, but still very charming. I love Yule, his earnestness to please, his insecurities, his cute little scarf, he works very well as a character for me. The Santa school is a really weird concept, and I LOVE IT. The more they add to it, the weirder it gets, and I have absolutely no complaints. Also this event makes use of all the kid characters in a strangely non creepy way (I thought so anyway – I hope it’s not just denial?). Absolutely love Ryota in the Santa outfit too. Now did they have to end every chapter with a fight? Absolutely not. It’s a good thing they toned it down in later events. Learn from your mistakes, and stuff.

#21 Valentine Panic

Valentine Panic is good, but it takes a while to get there. The feathers that make people fall in love with the MC is contrived as hell, but whatev’s. It’s fun. Having all the characters suddenly professing their love to the MC in the most awkward way possible was hilarious (big up to Gunzo’s declaration, I don’t think I’ll ever forget it). Sitri’s “cool cat” deal is annoying at first, but when you understand at the end that it all stems from his admiration for Kengo, it makes a lot more sense, and is consequently much more enjoyable. Bonus point for showing a side of Kengo that we don’t typically get to see.

#20 Clash of Floats

Just based on Nobuharu, I thought I was going to hate this event. Once again, shotas make me uncomfortable. But Tajikarao saved the event for me. His rivalry with Suzuka is believable and rather entertaining. They definitely cop out at the end though, blaming all the issues on a third party and not letting any side win the argument. Honestly I don’t think this event should rank this high still, and I was probably swayed by Gyobu’s waitsline. Yeah, that’s probably it.

#19 Seaside Summer School with you

Weird that they didn’t introduce a single new character for this one, huh? They were probably like “We need an event where every single character we have ends up wearing a swimsuit. ALL OF THEM.” And that they did. Well, almost anyway. To be honest, I played this one a long time ago, and don’t remember everything that happens in it. Love that they let me flirt with Ashigara though. Hate that they dropped the words “swimsuit contest” and didn’t let us see a second of it. Glad they corrected that mistake in Seaside Fashionista.

#18 New Year’s Sunrise

More new year stuff, less slimes, and more ghost. That one was sweet. Hilarious that Gyumao and Wakan Tanka get an alt, but Shennong doesn’t, when it clearly seems like that’s what they were going for. Maybe they ran out of budget a little sooner than expected. I feel like gathering all characters that share a common trait in a single event is a pretty fun idea, and I wouldn’t mind seeing it again.

#17 Valentine’s Extravaganza

Okay so. We all know that Life Wonders likes to cater to all their audience’s specific kinks. Mpreg with Temujin, vore with Marduk and his dragon buddy, foot fetish with Surtr’s giants, etc. And well, it seems like we each get a turn, cuz inflation is my jam (pun intended), and that’s what we get with Behemoth. So naturally I’m a little partial with that event (an event that must seem very weird to anyone who doesn’t share the kink, now that I think about it). I’m kinda pissed though, because there’s this whole mystery surrounding Behemoth, about what he can and cannot eat – they spend so much time trying to figure out the solution, and I don’t think the answer is ever revealed! Kind of a big oversight there. Big up to Nomad and his new dancing gig, he looks so happy doing it. Babalon’s whole deal about encouraging sin is also pretty great.

#16 Canaan – The Promised Land

This one is so interesting to me. Being a sequel to Raiders of the Lost Isle (must I remind you, at the very bottom of this list), I thought I was going to hate it, but it’s actually a lot better than the original. The problem is that it feels unfinished. Astaroth’s deal is never really explained properly, nor his relationship with Astarte. Like, I get that Astaroth is trans, and it’s great that we get a trans character in this game, but I don’t understand why he’s spiritually connected to Astarte, what he learned over the course of the adventure, or what he plans for the future. Transition is possible in Tokyo, right? But will he ever get there? Should I even be saying “he”?

With Canaan the promised land, they decided to tackle some very complex questions. The gender issue is already complicated enough, but if Canaan is supposed to be a utopia, that opens up a whole other can of worms. There’s also the end, where Bael threatens everyone with the ethical dilemma of fleeing Canaan at the cost of all its denizens’ lives. None of these issues are addressed properly, and the whole event feels very clumsy as a consequence. Still, as clumsy as it is, I really loved it. Astarte is such a compelling character, I really hope she’ll come back some day. But I don’t know if that’s something we can hope for.

#15 Valentine’s Time Warp!

An interesting concept, certainly. I like time warps. I feel like the characters they chose for this event were intelligently picked. Three grown men which serve as surrogate dads to this shy little girl – one of them being an actual dad. Don’t know what to make of Herakles in this event though. I know that a lot of people love him, I’m kinda sleeping on ‘im to be fair. But whatev’s.

This one should have been a little shorter. At one point you begin to wonder just how many times Echo can even fail to express her feelings. But it’s a minor flaw I think.

#14 I ain’t Scared a no Halloween

This one is great for the characters. Volos obviously, who’s just an adorable plant nerd, but surprisingly Alice too, whose work of costuming is actually fairly entertaining (love that they kept dropping fun facts about pumpkins, it tickles my nerdy side). Cu Sith dressing up as a werewolf for Halloween was the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen on a screen. Zabaniyya trying to let loose and relax in the most horrible way is always funny. Not sure what they were going for with Chernobog’s play at the end there, but it’s nice to see Chernobog having fun.

#13 Unfurl the Sails! A Golden Treasure Ship

This is actually the first event I ever tried out. I immediately crushed on Ebisu the minute I saw him. I wouldn’t recommend starting with that one tho, because if you don’t know who the characters are, it gets confusing really fast.

This one is obviously much better than the first boat adventure – at the very least they have an actual reason for going on a journey this time. The whole battle of the band aspect makes this event more diverse and is honestly really fun. Gives Benten something to do, thank goodness. Aegir is a slightly more fun villain than Black Storm, but not by much.

#12 In with the Ogres! Carpentry of the Heart

This one is short, but for once it doesn’t feel like an issue. Unlike in Canaan – the Promised Land, they seemed to know exactly how deeply they were willing to deal with their themes (racism, mostly). The answer is: not very deep. Which is not a problem, I think. Takemary hates humans, he learns that they’re not all bad after the summoners throw a special party for Setsubun. This carpenter guy is racist against ogres because he feels like they’re stealing his job, he gets hired, apologizes and all ends well. It’s simple, sweet and very heartwarming. That’s the kinda stuff I want out of my Housamo side quests. Minimal conflict, compelling characters who get to learn something over the course of a short story, and lots of moments that make me go “aaw”. This event had everything I wanted. I like how casual it was about revealing the new sprites (like, Motosumi is just sitting around with his kids, and they’re like “oh yeah we have this new sprite for him, might as well drop it here).

#11 Year of the Guardian Dog

That’s right! The best of the new year events is the very first one. Another instance of a simple concept executed flawlessly. Agyo wants to be a guardian dog, so have a little round up of all the guardian dogs. Garmr, Cu Sith and Xolotl all have very distinct styles – and though none might seem all that skilled from a distance, they’re actually more competent that they appear. This event is essentially all about making Agyo taste humble pie, but through the form of a nice stroll with MC and Moritaka. Also, letting Moritaka serve as a mentor of sorts was an interesting subversion of his character, he who usually ends up being the one mentored (either by Shino or Kimun Kamui).

#10 Desert Journey

Oh, we’re getting in the top ten now, huh? How exciting! Seth is another of those characters I didn’t expect to like, but I was proven wrong. Always had a tough spot for characters who act tough but are actually big softies. Love love love that they didn’t really focus much on the relationships between MC and the characters, but rather how the travelers interact with one another. It’s kinda similar to the Year of the Guardian Dog now that I think about it – they bring a new character who’s proud and confident, gains some allies he doesn’t think much of as first, but they end up teaching him quite a lot. I’ll say, I never liked Hanuman all that much, but this is the best they ever handled him. Ganglie was never this subtle either. He becomes a lot more interesting, without them betraying any of his character, or negating any of his flaws.

But I’ll be real with you, I don’t really get the Journey to the West parallel. Granted, I didn’t read the book, but I know a lot about it, and I was more confused than anything else by the parody elements. Well, it’s a minor detail.

#9 Valentine Jail!

Props to Life Wonders for coming up with a character like Aizen. He’s really really fun to be around; I always like a character who wears his flaws so ostentatiously. The fact that he’s really mean but also gullible and sensitive makes the whole event a catastrophe in motion – you know exactly where it’s going, and it’s amazing to watch it unfold. I love that the MC can tease Tadatomo for working for “the enemy”, if only briefly. Love how Hakumen doesn’t care about anything in that one, and is just proudly having her fun, walking around in BDSM gear. Oh the bisexuals must have been happy with that one! I also love that Aizen doesn’t change too much over the course of the event (which could have been tempting, but would have flattened his character considerably). Essentially Aizen carries this whole event, and I have literally no complaints.

#8 Let’s Go! Hot Spring Jamboree

Ah yes, the REAL redemption for Black Snow on the Hot Spring Mountains. O the Great Gendarme tries, but this one succeeds. Third time really is the charm, huh.

This event does a good job of putting together characters who don’t really have any reason for hanging out in the first place. Moritaka, Shiro and the MC aren’t so rare to see together, but pairing them with Aizen and Kagutsushi is a bold move, and yet they make it work! I love how they all get a turn at the “character development” trick. It’s highly artificial, but I don’t mind. Papa bear Kimun Kamui is just adorable (and I don’t usually comment on this, but I’m amazed by his character design too), Wen Kamui adds a fun twist to a character which might have otherwise been a little flat.

Moritaka is the real star of this event, mostly because I think the way they handle his problem is actually pretty smart (it’s true that if you obsessively try to get better at one thing by training daily, you end up being highly predictable…) Also they didn’t think it was enough to make him fight his past self once, but twice, which is hilarious (poor guy). The ending in the world of Kamui Kotan drags a bit, but that’s my only complaint.

#7 Trick or Treat! Jiangshi Night

Man this event was so fun. Oddly enough, neither of the characters that they introduce for this event (Licho and Sanat Kumara) I liked all that much, but it doesn’t matter. First there’s that truly incredible scene where Tetsuox learns to deal with his survivor’s guilt through a theater play that rhymes, like how crazy is that? Then Babalon and Motosumi engage in a “child stacking contest” if I remember correctly, a real thing that actually happens. And at the end, everyone gets to perform in a live ranger show orchestrated by Krampus!! Having some characters that we love performing a role for a fiction within a fiction is a lot more fun than I would have honestly guessed, and Krampus looked so happy with his idea, it completely melted my heart. I rarely had as much fun as I did in this very moment.

#6 A Fluffy Nightmare in Ueno!

One of the only events to prominently feature the Beast Tamers, and it’s one of the best. The concept is both interesting AND well executed (I’m still looking at you, Raiders of the Lost Isle). Exploring the dream world is a common yet tricky trope. In the dream world, anything goes, which is both a good and a bad thing. But they knew how to use it creatively without making it confusing.

This one is also good because there is an element of mystery to it, that is actually resolved properly (looking at you, Valentine Extravaganza). And the more it goes, the more it gets you thinking. “Oh okay, we’re in a dream. Some people have all their senses, others don’t. We haven’t see Kuniyoshi and Benten yet, what the hell are they up to?” Really well done. If they were to recreate a similar event in the future, I’d gladly play through it.

#5 Make a Killing! The Beach House and Andvari Falls

This one’s quality is a lot more homogeneous than the previous ones. It’s just good, from beginning to end, without many drawbacks, or any particularly striking moments. It doesn’t have an incredible concept, but it plays to its strengths, and it does it well. Those beach events tend to attract a whole flurry of characters, and this one is no exception, but most of them are well handled. I recall there’s a part where you go diving with a whole bunch of kids though… yeah, I might have partly erased that one from my mind.

Love the joke at the beginning when Adnvari is asking for a resume, and the MC can choose to reply “My blade can sever gravity itself”, like it’s a perfect illustration of the shonen plot and the slice of life plot mingling in a really funny way, I wish they did it more often! Other than that, not much to say. Just go play it.

#4 Seaside Fashionista

I think to a certain extent, Life Wonders know that if they want us to love a female character, they’ll have to make extra efforts. Not that we’re all terribly misogynists, but we’re all super gay, and it’s harder to distract us from a character’s flaws with chiseled abs or tight clothes on a chubby belly.

It works most of the time, but it works especially well with Arachne. I love that her issue isn’t lack of talent, or ambition, but inability to understand what the people want. I love how she’s a workaholic who doesn’t listen to people, but also an incredibly kind individual, who will go out of her way to make you happy with just the most perfect outfit imaginable. I love how she’s curious about everything, and often puts herself in trouble because of that. Honestly, Seaside Fashionista had no business being this good, but it was. All the new outfits they gave the characters are amazing (I still haven’t recovered from Amatsumara’s suit). The fact that we get to see a side of Tsathoggua that we rarely get to see otherwise – awesome! And as I said earlier, we got our revenge for that swimsuit contest from way before. All is well.

#3 Battle of the Bells! An Ikebukuro Christmas

Top 3 now! This is getting serious.

Since it’s ranking so high on this list, you might be surprised to find out that I don’t care all that much about Tansgrisnir (am I even writing that name properly?). Like, he’s sweet and all, but there are a lot of characters I love more. No, what got me in this event is the concept. I think it hit me when Transgrisnir hurt his leg and said that he couldn’t run anymore – when he said that the MC would have to pull the sleigh himself. A human, a teenager no less, pulling a sleigh, and flying through the air. And then competing in a race, full of people running through the air and pulling sleighs too! Can you imagine it? That’s so incredibly specific, and just so strong of a concept, all on its own! And to top it all up, they complicated the race by adding this element where you have to take frequent stops and fight groups of people in different wards of Tokyo. Yoyogi academy, Roppongi, Aoyama, and Shinjuku – groups of characters teaming up to prevent the sleighs from moving onward. And who doesn’t love teamwork?

I think this is genuinely one of the best ideas they’ve ever had, and I think they should congratulate whoever came up with it.

#2 Me-ow! Happy Illusion! The Festival of Magic Hijinks

Genuinely surprised at how well this one turned out. Another of these events where they gave themselves a lot of work; introducing Cait Sith and Tvastar, giving Ryota, Tezcatlipoca, Furufumi and Licho a new alt, and consequently a tidbit of character development, tying it up neatly at the end with the collision of worlds plot and the magic show, and it all works! I think Tvastar especially is a brilliant addition to the Crafters, because similar to Arachne and Aizen, he’s flawed in a delightful way. “Why won’t you let me help you” has always been a favorite trope of mine, so I’m probably biased. Caith Sith’s theme is a bop, mini Tezcatlipoca nearly had me cry from laughing so much, I can’t believe a team composed of Miss Ziz and Shennong of all people won a FOOD EATING CONTEST, but I’m so proud of them anyway.

Also I like that they slid some discreet references to the main plot in there. The world representatives being shady, how MC interacts with Mononobe, it was so subtle in some instances that it was almost a little spooky. Really can’t overstate how much I enjoyed that one.

#1 The New Champion of Christmas

If you’re a Krampus stan like me, you were waiting for it, and you’re probably bouncing right now. I have nothing but love for The New Champion of Christmas. Krampus’ introduction is incredible, because it’s so silly in such a charming way, I mean have you seen what the guy wears? Military pants, this absurd, ripped santa jacket that covers his face, the cow bells around his neck, the chains, whoever his chara-designer is they’re completely insane and I love them for it.

I mean all of this event is silly, and it only works because they fully commit to the bit. The Santa school has a dark Santa course now, which is incredible, Krampus threatens to give the thugs a big spanking, like can you IMAGINE if this happened to you in real life?

But then beyond the silly, Krampus is actually an adorable and shy little dude, who just wants to make friends. His character development is compelling and well executed. And can we talk about Ryota for a second? I love that they allowed him to have a crush on Krampus, something that they rarely do, since all the teenagers in this game must inevitably fall in love with the MC at some point. Shiro says something that’s absolutely wild at the beginning of the event, regarding that. Apparently Ryota crushes on people easily and becomes briefly obsessed with them, but it doesn’t last. Like okay Shiro, I hear you. But then Shiro casually says “this is how our friend group ended up forming” and I’m like HOLD ON, this is huge, you can’t just drop this on me and then move on! What? Ryota crushed on everyone? Shiro, Kengo, Moritaka, even TOJI??? And then they just became friends???? HUH????

Oh yeah, also they tie it up with wrestling at the end, and I have no complaints. A wrestling gimmick is a no brainer for Krampus, but it forces Ryota out of his comfort zone, so it’s good for two different reasons. Over all, I’m ranking this event first because Krampus literally captured my heart, and I’ve never so badly wanted to be isekai’d so I could just fall into his arms. I rest my case.

So yeah there you have it, I would be deeply surprised if everyone agreed with me, but that’s my two cents on the question. Have you ever seen yule when he was shedding his antlers? If so what was the reaction when you saw him without them?

"Why yes I have! I thought he was pretty cute with the his fuzzy little top. As an expert caretaker of reindeer I know all about their traits and development so it wasn't really a surprise to me, but Krampus on the other hand."

"H-hey! You didn't have to bring that up. How was I supposed to know that his antlers were supposed to pop off like that, and with all the blood I thought something happened. There aren't exactly a bunch of reindeer in the dark santa courses, and we don't really study much on that kind of stuff."

"Ho ho ho! There's no need to feel ashamed about worrying for a friends health and safety. You even carried him all the way to my office just to make sure he was all right. If anything I think your should feel proud of yourself."
