I got two packs from a local shop of Disney's Lorcana tcg, and I dunno if this counts as a hot take: but it's another case of Disney being too hyped up.
It was $11 a pack, and not to say the cards aren't good quality in terms of art and all; a foil Lilo was my favorite card of the bunch, and here are some of the other cards I enjoyed seeing most out of my pulls. But hard for me to recommend the product at this price point for casual fans.
It hasn't been released in big stores yet (planned for Sept. 1st), so maybe whether they mean anything beyond rarer cards and foils will come in due time - but coming from the world of knowing Pokemon (usually $4-5 packs), Lorcana seems like it's pushing in a Magic the Gathering direction as a more premium gaming experience as it is. [I don't know that game's gameplay, so forgive me if it's an error in comparison].

my personal redesigns / headcanons for the mane 6!!!
sorted in height order ✬
tidbids;
Twilight had some leftover heritage batpony genes, which became present after becoming an alicorn, she also got a lot taller (before she was about dash's height), rainbow power and holding the princess' magic gave her the yellow streaks and glowy ends
Rarity is part crystal pony, so she has a crystal horn- allowing for very precise magic.
Fluttershy has lingering traits of her time as a vampire bat
AJ has several scars from working on the farm
Rainbow has some stunt-injuries, and one lightning-strike scar. Her rainbow colours are super rare, so she likes to show them off.
Pinkie is a miniature pony, dinky little thing. 90% of her jewellery is edible.
