I'm still not over this one YT video describing a game being "hard to research because it's fairly old" making me think it's from the 90s just to say in the next breath it's from the mid 2000s

lost half my evening to learning that the orangey bits a cattle egret gets in springtime isn't pigment in the feathers but probably topically applied and wanting to know if anyone knew HOW/what substance. as far as i can tell: no, but some guys in 1963 speculated a different species could be getting it from the gland that makes the oils birds put on their feathers or something called a powder down patch (hidden feathers that continously grow and break down into a fine dust at the ends) and i think we're just kind of rolling with that. they for sure for sure do not suddenly grow orange feathers in the spring.

one of the weirdest bits of trivia about aoki is that according to the article saeko was reading he ‘was a shut-in until he was 20 then he suddenly took off for america’ and like that’s fine but he would’ve actually been 24 if he enrolled at harvard in september 2001 but a literal line earlier in the same article it correctly ages him at 42 in 2019 if LaD7 takes place in the spring and his birthday’s at the end of the year so i’m just. Why Did You Make it Seem Like you Were Four Years Younger For College. also can no one do math if he was 20 in 2001 he’d be 38 by 2019, he’d have to be in school in 1996 for everything to line up unless you’re telling me the story they made is he left for america in 1996 and graduated in 2000--

Mikey Way meeting fans at 97X Next Big Thing in Clearwater, FL on Dec 5th 2004. MCR were unable to play that day due to Gerard losing his voice the day before. It’s so amusing to me when characters within comics use the fun-trivia-for-fans maps. Like technically that’s a perfectly good canon map. But when Jim Gordon uses it he feels like a tourist to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eliot Brown’s map from Batman: Gotham City Secret Files & Origins #1 (Apr 2000), in Commissioner Loeb’s office in Detective Comics Vol. 2 #25 (Jan 2014)
It’s more funny when it’s shown on a computer though. You’re telling me Oracle and Batman have super highly sophisticated computers but the maps of Gotham on those computers use a numbered legend, instead of anything more technologically efficient and helpful?
Tumblr media
Batman: Gotham Knights #55 (Sep 2004) — how is she supposed to find the CCTV if it’s not on the legend? :( lol

Absurd. And hilarious. This is a very ineffective map for them to quickly identify deep details of the terrain. But it IS an effective way to get me to laugh in the middle of a comic intended to be high stakes and serious. Important mission who? I only know fun background map.
