Vinyl Shopping

There were many songs, bands, and genres that many people had not even discovered yet. The thought of this fascinated August, and so sometimes when he was on tour he would seek out local record shops. Vinyls, instruments, posters, and more. Just to see if he could discover something he never heard before. Or perhaps something he hadn't heard in many years. It helped to inspire him to make more music. They were travelling through some city with a teeny population and big heart. With him today was someone else who loved music almost as much as the Father did, if not more. The redhead lifted one of the vinyls up, showing him from across the aisle. As per usual, she hit a jackpot. Wandering over to where she was, his fingertips flipped through the several titles of the thick vinyls. Current goth bands such as Roadside Memorial and Lebanon Hanover. Rock music like Sisters of Mercy, Switchblade Symphony, Faith and the Muse, and London after Midnight. Deathrock, never his cup of tea despite the type of music his band Avantgarden made. Snythpop bands like Wolfsheim were discovered, the essential type of tunes you would find in any 80s club. Darkwave. How could Auggie describe such a genre? Music fest stoners if they were dark-inclined. He put on a vinyl and put the big squishy headphones on to listen to half of it before delicately putting it over bumblebee's head, letting her listen to dark wave as well. She made a face, clear dissaproval. "Sounds like a gateway drug." A grin cracked across stone features, creasing dimples into stubble cheeks as he tried to hide his reaction to her comment. Pressing his lips together, August moved on to another aisle of records. All alphebitzed and color coded. Industrial to ethereal and everything in-between. Electronic Body Music. New Romantic, mostly 80s bands. The Prophet was never the romantic type as it is, so he moved on. Coldwave. Snythpop. New age punk. And then he found the jackpot. Right in the center. Whistling, he waved the woman with him over. She rest her chin on his shoulder and looked over to see what the curious shortking had uncovered in the heart of the vinyl shop. The two went straight into the Batcave. Bauhaus, Sioxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, the Cure, Twin Tribes, Drab Majesty, Lebanon Hanover, Mode Moderne, The Hearse, She Past Away, Draconian Incubus, Linea Aspera, Virgin in Veil, Actors, Tempers, Merciful Nuns, Angels of Liberty, Neon Tzigane, O.Children, Cabaret Nocturne, SRSQ, Light Asylum, Night Sins, Hante, Sonsombre, Her Despair, The Awakening, Artificial Monuments, Scarlet Leaves , Geometric Visions, Boy Harsher, Pretentious Moi, Sombre, Whispering Sons, Velvet Condom, This Cold Night, Riki, Korine, Malefixio, Horror Vacui, Mirages, Cold Cave, HIGH-FUNCTIONING FLESH, Bat Nouveau, Disjecta Membra, Egoprisme, Opened Paradise, Molchat Doma, Living Temples, Future Faces, Kuta, Plastique Noir, Ritual Howls, The Rope, Wisborg. His head spun with excitement, almost overwhelmed. The only thing that yanked him back was the sound of a feminine laugh. Velvet and snake venom. He finally reached an inked hand out and settled on whatever it landed on. Leaving the store with Romeo's Distress.

mom had some teaching program in a hospital, i went with her. on the higher floor there was a psych ward for young ppl. there was a cute guy with black hair, he was there for suicide attempt. he said he would give me his phone nimber but i probably dont wanna hang out with a "psycho". i said that i was locked in psych ward too. we started kissing.

my sister's boyfriend. he had shoulder-lenght wavy brown hair, was very sweet and treated me very kindly. i have no idea how he could be her boyfriend, she despices me and overall is a shitty person

Cyril Darkholme

Just as it's rare for a white-haired character to manipulate fire, it's also rare for a blond-haired character to manipulate darkness. The one example that I can think of is Touhou Project's Rumia, who surrounds herself in a dark orb. The logic is that if a flame-haired character ought to manipulate fire, then a dark-haired character ought to manipulate shadows. Cyril Darkholme's more like Rumia in that he's blond and manipulates darkness.

In fact he tends to create solid shadow constructs, ranging from weapons to force fields. In order to do so he has to absorb light, in fact he's pretty useless at night or in any dark area. He does the same with fire and electricity to varying degrees that he can cause brownouts at any point, also like Rumia he also dresses in black. When I think about it this way, Jean-Louis pushes the stereotype in a way by wearing red, having dyed red hair and manipulates light.

Cyril Darkholme kicks back the stereotype with his blond hair, since it's already pretty rare for a blond character to manipulate darkness. The one example who does this a lot would be Touhou's Rumia, I have a double take with Marvel's Cloak where he is so swarthy he might as well manipulate shadows himself. To be fair, there's a black woman who manipulates light and her name is Monica Rambeau. A similar one would be DC's Kimiyo Hoshi, but neither of them are white so they are excused in a way.

Cyril Darkholme is both blond and white, manipulates darkness and dresses in black.

John Zelensky

He's a Goth and as you expect, he tends to dress in black. The real difference is that he both listens to Goth and punk music and plays in a Goth band himself, if he has the spare time to do so. His police/superhero look is a toned down version of his punkier get-up whenever he has his casual days or when he's not at the police department. It's his version of the corporate Goth look, where Goths have to tone down their look to better fit into certain work environments.

So his superhero outfit is pretty his corporate Goth outfit, with his punkier outfits being what he wears when off-duty or in a band. I actually prefer that artists would take cues from actual Deathrockers, punks and Goths to get a better idea of what I think he wears off-duty. More in the lines of bands like The Clash, The Damned, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy and Sex Pistols for that male Goth-punk look, or even the Ramones for another matter to some extent.

Admittedly his superhero/cop outfit is based on a ballet outfit, since I'm not that big a fan of the tactical look and I can't do tactical outfits that well either. The only real advantage that wrestling leotards and ballet outfits have over superhero costumes is that they're actually being worn during physical activity, in the case with the former in combat even. You could say that truth is stranger than fiction.

It doesn't get any stranger than what Goths and punks wear in the real world by the way, in some regards it's a good deal more threatening than any superhero outfit would ever be.

I could talk, and have talked, for HOURS about my lesbian ocs. I love them to DEATH. And I do agree! I’m a lesbian myself so it makes sense why I have so many. (Seriously my WIP’s main cast is almost entirely sapphic with the majority of them being lesbian. 4 at least, not including the two main characters.)

Anyway, I know I’m a lesbian myself but in light of this, here’s some random facts about one of mine:

Her name is Esme, she’s the main character. The central girlie. And she’s been the source of my brainrot for years. She’s a goth/deathrocker and is the front-woman of her band, Femme Mortes. Her mom who owns a second hand bookshop. She adopted a stray cat off the street, named it Nala and bought her home even though they’re not meant to have pets in the dorms. She can’t fucking flirt with girls to save her life. Is incredibly open about being a lesbian and she’s also killed a guy in a fight for trying to kill her gf. (Plot go crazy.)

(Said gf is a mean femme lesbian called Maxine and I genuinely, like, go delulu for them.)

Seeing descriptions of other people's ocs and how so few of them are lesbians makes me so sad. Especially when they have multiple bi/pan and gay mlm and aroace people but only like one or two lesbians. Granted, in a lot of these cases it only seems like there are less lesbians but really there are about the same amount as other sexualities, but I feel like most people don't tend to have a lot of lesbian ocs regardless unless they themselves are lesbians and that's really saddening. That's why most of my ocs are lesbians, although tbf I myself am a lesbian ahahaha. But still. 😢
