Hanekoma knealt down next to the girl and held his hands out for the kitten, "I'd be happy to look after her for ya, boss. But what happened? Did she not have a home before?"

And also, where were her parents? Was it normal for kids this age to wander on their own? Or... Was there something going on that had caused this? He didn't want something bad to happen to either of them, child or kitten.

"Are you here by yourself?" It was worth a shot at least.

THE YOUNG VAMPIRE happened upon him by chance, nervously eyeing him from the side of the river where he laid. she wasn't sure what to do for the injured and likely unconscious male, so Theo steps closer. good thing she had some water in her jug... gentle, gloved hands caress Astolfo's cheeks, gingerly pulling him into a sitting position and laying his back against the wall. she was timid, shy, but she couldn't live with herself if she left him here to possibly die. "hey" her voice is tender, delicate. she's skittish, unsure, an unknowing rabbit standing before a wolf. "do you want me to get someone for you?"

Astolfo could hardly register his surroundings, lost in a haze of pain and numbness simultaneously. The youth's vision was blurry at best, so it was hard to tell what was going on, even as he was shifted to lean against the nearby wall. He didn't even register it as a wall, he simply recognized the cold sensation upon his back. He would shudder every now and again, the winter chill piercing through his coat.

At the girl's voice, Astolfo blinks, his vision still fuzzy but clearing enough to register that someone was talking to him. Holding his head, he curls up and into himself, trying to back away from his supposed help. Somehow, his instincts told him that she was a vampire, and that she was going to hurt him, too. He felt as if he couldn't trust her. He couldn't trust anyone. He shook his head rapidly, almost violently, a display of downright denial.

" N-No . . . ! Stay back ! You're not getting a bite out of me, you foul beast ! "

His voice was weak at best, cracking in places, which definitely took the edge out of his demands. His typical tones that cut like a blade weren't as strong this time.

It had been kind of a lazy day for Matthew, with him having called the day off to just take a breather. The past few days at the Lounge had been a blur, with a fight breaking out every day for a while. Unfortunately however, it didn't seem as though everyone had that luxury. Josie had gone out for a while, and it was just about time for her to come back in.

As if right on cue, there she was... and man, did she look rough.

"Damn, Josie... you look like you've been through some shit today," he says, walking over and gently placing a hand on her shoulder. "You doing okay today?"

Hunter and Maxine approach Soryn with flowers in their hands. "'Ryn," Hunter chirps, excited. they were wildflowers, the unloved kind, with different herbs like yarrow and deadnettle. "we gots you some pretty pretty flowers! don't you love them?"

soryn wanted to help josie by taking the kids off of her hands for a little while. by now, she was significantly less apprehensive about leaving them in his care as he hasn't been a stranger for quite some time now. he really looks forward to spending time with them when he has the chance to, opting to take them out in a picnic to the nearby park. together they sit comfortably under the shade of a tree and eat, the demon listening to hunter and maxine recount their days to him. after a little bit, they wanted to play and run around, so he let them do so if they stayed within his line of sight.

he finishes his sandwich and one of the juice boxes he packed, leaning against the tree now, watching as they walk back toward him. soryn smiles upon seeing the flowers in their hands. " oh, i love them very much. " reaching out, he takes them and wraps a twisty tie around the stems to keep them all together, tucking the bundle of flowers into his breast pocket. " when we return home, i will find something to put these in and they can sit on the kitchen windowsill so they can get some sun for a little while longer. "

►Jupiter puffs up at the option of commanding her. "hold my hand?" he sounded unsure, but he was; he just felt a little embarrassed. what if she didn't want to?

She smiled at him before holding his hand to her own right after.

Hayden brings a hand up to his mouth, within his fingers is a piece of rolled dry tobacco. A habit he picked up since his return to the mortal world. It helps to clear his head, to silence the intrusive thoughts of the beast within. He lights the paper before waving the spent match out. A deep inhale is taken as his eyes stare out to the Karakura cityscape.

The two stood on a building, simply observing the life which passed. His training for the day concluded. It was why he asked the question. Out of curiosity.

"I fight for the world, Kensei." He'd comment letting that hang for a moment, a scoff leaving his lips. "Look at me, sounding the tragic hero." He'd laugh, it is a dry thing. But it is not bitter. He takes a hit of the cigarette before exhaling smoke. "I think a lot of people got it rough in this world. I think the system's rotten to it's core. I think once a man knows that, he's faced with a choice. To ignore it or act." He looks down at the city, at the multitude of lives simply existing. Completely unaware of the wider world.

"The Gotei gave me a purpose, and a duty, when I lacked it. I can never repay that. I can never forget that. So, I'm keep fighting for this world. Even if the Gotei thinks I turned my back on 'em." He looks at Kensei, and there is a deathlily seriousness to them. "I never turned my back on them. Never."
