The Proposition

Okay, so this wasn’t planned. At all. You can blame/thank @shanceshancerevolution for this lol. They’re the one who dragged me into this fandom anyway. And they’re also the one who sent me this post, which the following is based on :) It’s slightly nsfw. Like, if I were to post it on ao3, I’d tag it M :)

Shiro looks at his phone again, just to make sure he got the right drink. He’s never heard of it before. The stranger texted him his address, which, honestly, isn’t even that far from the 7/11. He wonders who’s more desperate; the thirsty stranger or him. He hopes his arm won’t be a deal breaker. It has been before. That’s one of the reasons he doesn’t do this very often. That and the abandonment issues he really doesn’t want to think about.

“Apartment B4,” he murmurs to himself. He takes a deep breath before knocking, feeling extremely ridiculous with the horchata in his hand, which is his ticket to a blowjob. He almost considers putting the drink on the stranger’s doorstep and leaving when the door swings open and reveals—

“Lance?” Shiro splutters.

“Shiro? What are you doing here?” Lance’s eyes flick down to the horchata. And then his mouth falls open. “You’re my horchata blowjob?”

“Oh my god,” Shiro groans. “This can’t be happening.”

“I didn’t even know you live here!”

“I don’t,” Shiro says hastily. “I’m, err, off duty for a few days and… and…” He honestly has no idea what else to say.

“What a coincidence,” Lance laughs. He doesn’t seem as horrified as Shiro would have expected. “Well, I guess that’s what you get when you don’t show your face on Grindr.”

“Yeah,” Shiro says, scratching the back of his head. He assumes Lance decided not to show his face for the same reasons as Shiro; being the famous saviors of the universe can get a little tricky.

“Come in,” Lance says, stepping aside. “Err. Are you sure?”

“Of course! We haven’t seen each other in forever!”

Feeling extremely sheepish, Shiro steps inside and follows Lance to the couch. 

“Oh,” he says, remembering he’s still holding Lance’s drink. “Here.”

“Oh my god, yes,” Lance cheers. He takes it from Shiro as though it’s a trophy, but instead of drinking it, he puts it down on the coffee table and turns to Shiro.

“Sooooo. This is a little awkward,” Lance laughs.

“You can say that again,” Shiro agrees.

“Well. About that blowjob.”

Heat blooms on Shiro’s cheeks. “It’s fine,” he laughs awkwardly. 

“No, no. I promised to blow you,” Lance says.

Oh god, he can’t be serious?!

“That was before you knew it was me,” Shiro points out.

“A promise is a promise,” Lance says, and, to Shiro’s horror, glides down the couch to kneel in front of him.

“Lance, let’s just catch up, okay?”

“We can catch up later,” Lance grins.

“Seriously, you don’t have to—”

“What if I want to?”

Um.

“What?”

Lance smiles at him. It’s one of those dazzling smiles that leaves you a little breathless. And honestly, Lance has had that effect on Shiro long before today.

“Come on, it’s just a little blowjob between friends,” Lance purrs.

“Err, I’m not sure that’s a thing, Lance,” Shiro says, hating that his voice sounds so shaky.

“Well, just as a thank you, then,” Lance grins.

“I—”

“That’s why you came here, isn’t it?”

Shiro swallows. “I mean, yeah. But I didn’t know it was you.”

“Oh.” Lance’s face falls. “So you’d accept a blowjob from some random dude but not me?”

“Uh.” Panicking, Shiro scrambles for something to say. If only Lance knew the truth. Shiro fantasized about being with him so many times, it’s embarrassing. So yeah, technically he would accept a blowjob from a random stranger. But Lance? He can’t. He really, really can’t.

“I see,” Lance says, straightening himself. “Well, I guess I only have myself to blame.”

“What do you mean?” Shiro asks.

“I always knew I wasn’t good enough for you, but I—”

“What?” Shiro blurts. And before he knows what he’s doing, he grabs Lance by the shoulders. “That’s not true, Lance!”

Lance stares at him, his eyes wide. 

“It’s not true,” Shiro repeats, willing Lance to understand. “That’s not—That’s not what this is about.”

“What is it about, then?”

Shiro sighs, letting go of Lance and shaking his head. “Let’s not talk about it, okay? But believe me, it has nothing to do with you.” 

It has everything to do with him. But it would be too complicated to explain. And too humiliating. 

“Okay,” Lance says slowly. Sceptically. “But look, you went to a 7/11, got me the drink I asked for and came all the way down here.” He pauses. “And I promised to blow you. What’s the big deal? Just let me do it!”

“Lance—”

“I’m really good at it!”

“Lance.”

“Come on,” Lance says with a little pout. 

“I don’t think it’s a good idea.”

Lance is still pouting and he seems to deliberate something. “I really wanna do it,” he finally says. “I—I actually thought about it, back when we were—Um.”

“What?”

“You knew I had a thing for you,” Lance says with a dismissive gesture.

Ummmm. WHAT?

“Excuse me?” Shiro says, his voice much higher than usual.

“Oh. Maybe you didn’t. Oops?” Lance laughs.

Oh god. Is he kidding? Please don’t let him be kidding. But he said ‘had’. He ‘had’ a thing for Shiro. Fuck, what does that mean?

“Anyway,” Lance says, “blowing you has been kind of on my bucket list for a while. So will you let me?”

This, Shiro thinks, has to be a dream. It has to be. There’s no reality in which Lance practically begs him to let him blow him. 

“Shiro?”

“Y—Yeah,” Shiro croaks.

“Yes,” Lance hisses, and immediately gets to work on Shiro’s pants.

It takes a moment for Shiro’s brain to catch up, to realize he just agreed to this. Oh god. Ohgodohgodohgod.

He gulps when Lance pulls down the zipper and Shiro’s unmissable and very unfortunate bulge is visible.

“Mr. Shirogane,” Lance grins. 

“Oh my god,” Shiro groans, covering his face with his hands. This is so embarrassing.

“No, don’t hide,” Lance says, pulling his hands away from his face. “I think it’s… kinda flattering? Maybe? I haven’t even touched you yet.”

Reluctantly, Shiro looks at him, only to have the air knocked out of his lungs. 

Lance is smiling at him and slowly leans down. To nuzzle his bulge.

“Oh my god,” Shiro groans again, and lets his head fall back. He tries to sit still as Lance cups his balls and places little kisses along the line of Shiro’s waistband. 

This is it, Shiro thinks. This is how he’s going to die.

His notion seems to be proven right when Lance tugs at his boxers and finally pulls them down.

“Oh wow,” he hears Lance say. “This is—This is even better than I imagined!”

Before Shiro can ask what he’s talking about, Lance gets to work. Shiro’s back arches off the couch and he bites his lip to keep himself from groaning. Christ, Lance wasn’t kidding. He really is good at this. 

Feeling like his heart might jump out of his chest, Shiro opens his eyes and peeks down at Lance. His breath catches when he sees Lance looking right back at him, his eyes dark and hungry. Fuck. What a beautiful sight. Shiro already knows he’ll be thinking about this a lot; Lance, kneeling between his legs. His mouth is so hot and velvety and everything around Shiro feels so tight and the press of Lance’s tongue is just right and—

“Lance,” Shiro moans. 

As if in response, Lance takes his hand and intertwines their fingers. This… feels sort of weird. Intimate? Lance guides their joined hands to his head and Shiro is more than happy to bury his fingers in Lance’s hair. It’s so soft. 

When Lance picks up the pace, Shiro can’t hold back his moans anymore, squirming on the couch as he feels himself getting close.

“Lance,” he groans, warningly. He inhales sharply when he feels Lance’s hand on his thigh, wishing he could feel his touch everywhere. He’s wanted Lance for so long.

“Oh my god! Fuck! Fuck!”

Shiro holds his breath as wave after wave of pleasure courses through him. He feels Lance slowly pulling away, but his hands are still on Shiro. 

“Are you okay?” Lance asks, and Shiro can almost hear the grin in his voice.

Still panting, Shiro tries to revive his brain, which Lance just completely obliterated. “Dear god,” he breathes. He slowly moves his head to look at Lance, and the sheer beauty of this gorgeous man hits him like a truck. “God, I love you,” he blurts. 

There’s a moment of silence, a moment filled with dread and mortification. 

And then Lance laughs. “Thanks,” he snorts. “I take it the blowjob was okay?”

Shiro says nothing, still shocked by his own words.

“That was fun,” Lance says, plopping down on the couch next to him. “You have a very nice penis.”

Shiro, unwilling to say anything to that, quickly pulls up his boxers and zips up his pants, feeling a weird mixture of satisfaction and embarrassment wash over him. 

“Aaah,” Lance says, the horchata in his hands. “Good stuff.”

Shiro tries to smile at him, but all he can do is stare. How is he so okay with this? How is he not freaked out? How is he—Oh. 

Shiro swallows as his gaze falls down to Lance’s… well, situation. 

“Um. Do you want to do something about that?” he asks, kinda boldly and very, very stupidly.

“Do you want to do something about that?” Lance laughs.

“I could,” Shiro says, his mouth, apparently, on autopilot.

“Really?” Lance asks, finally a little surprised.

“If you want to.”

“Hell yeah,” Lance says. He sounds like he means it.

“Okay, um. What do you want me to do?” Shiro asks carefully.

“What do you want to do?” Lance shoots back.

Shiro blinks at him, for once deciding not to think too hard about anything. “I want you to fuck me.”

Honestly, if they weren’t negotiating Shiro’s wettest and wildest dream right now, he probably would have fallen off the couch laughing. Because there’s horchata shooting out of Lance’s nose and he looks so shocked, one might think Shiro just told him Kaltenecker is actually a cat.

They stare at each other for a long moment, in which Shiro contemplates jumping out of a window.

But then, Lance clears his throat. “I can do that,” he says, his face more serious.

“Yeah?” Shiro says, hope and warmth bubbling up inside his chest.

“Yeah,” Lance smiles. “Let’s see how much you love me after that.”

Characters with a main focus:

Keith wins (duh) but also I wrote a lot of Shiro this year, and a couple times in his POV! That was a fun change bc while I feel like I've gotten pretty solidly into writing characters like Lance and Keith, I'd never really thought about writing from Shiro's perspective and I really enjoyed it. I also really enjoyed getting into writing new characters like Krolia and Ryan.

Specifics:

Best/Worst Title?

Best: Dear Shadow, Alive and Well / by any other name

Worst: lead us into battle and I'll lead you in a dance. (I could have done so. much. better.)

Best/Worst first line?

Best: After what feels like an eternity running, Keith finds waiting to be a completely foreign idea. (from i'll be your sky).

This line is the foundation of this fic - that Keith, who has spent the last year caught up in the war against the galra and now can do nothing but wait to go forward. I hope it embodies the fic as well as I think it does.

Worst: Getting hit by a car is not how Keith wants to start his day, but sometimes that’s just how things go. (from Send Your Cutest Delivery Boy) I just..... don't understand why this fic took off lmao it's SO JANKEY

General Questions:

Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?

I wrote WAY more than I thought I would!! I'm still reeling from the fact that people actually like my stuff and it's helped me keep up my creative drive.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted last year?

The fact that I wrote Beyond Good And Evil fic is still kind of hilarious to me, mostly because that fandom is TINY. Pairing-wise I could never have predicted Ryance because Ryan didn't exist last year, but I never expected to love them as much as I do now. I'm also surprised that Shance became a huge favourite of mine! I liked pairing them off before I officially shipped them but they shot up to my top 5 ships pretty damn fast.

What’s your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest.

Nova. It marked one exact year of me beginning the foray back into writing (which I had been blocked on for almost three years) and fanfic, which I had been out of longer. I poured a lot of my soul into that fic and dedicated a lot of time into making it into the story I envisioned. It's proof that I love what I do and that I can bounce back from hard times in my life, no matter how long it takes.

Okay, NOW your most popular story.

Lead Us Into Battle!! I was SO surprised that it shot up the popularity charts but I couldn't be happier. The fact that people have referred to it as "a fave", added it to fic rec lists, and even drew freaking fan art of it is unbelievable to me. The fact that my first Shance fic was so embraced by the fandom warms my heart.

Story most underappreciated by the universe?

My HZD Sheith au. It contains some of my favourite lines and moments, plus that good platonic Kallura. The fact that HZD seems to be kind of a rare fandom is probably to blame.

Story that could have been better?

Send Your Cutest Delivery Boy. I literally wrote it in an hour lmao

Sexiest story?

Nova wins by default, being the only story that contains even a reference to sexytimes lmao. Sometimes I remember that I wrote and posted the phrase

How was the sex? Hot. Heavy. Poetic. Like getting crushed in the folding mechanisms of a rogue sofa bed.

And I'm like 😳

Saddest story?

Nova and It Will Come Back are probably tied. One's realistic depression, the other is Pacific Rim backstory angst. You take your pick.

Most fun?

Both my crossover installments. Combining the universes of HZD and Voltron, or Pacrim and Voltron have both been really fun and I plan to continue with both series, adding more characters and fics as we roll into 2019!

Story with single sweetest moment?

I can't pick, so I have two:

Lance can’t help it; he laughs and brings his hand up to tangle in Keith’s hair. He knocks their foreheads together gently. “It’s not like you didn’t know,” he says softly. (from Nova)

The answer had come tumbling out of Keith before he’d even processed what he was going to say; “I’ll save you every time, and then some. As many times as it takes.” (from Sun and Shadow)

Hardest story to write?

All of them tbh. I still find it hard to put myself out there and I beat myself up for not finishing or abandoning WIPs a lot. Every published fic I have on my ao3 is victory achieved with time and effort (and probably some crying lmao). Unofficially it's my upcoming piece for Orion. Because it's a zine piece I really struggled to make it reach the high standards I had set, but one that I'm especially proud that I wrote.

Easiest/most fun story to write?

Once I got the ball rolling on my pacrim au the words came FAST. Especially in It Will Come Back - I wrote furiously at 3am to the tune of about 4000 words over one weekend. Considering I usually squeak out maybe 300, that's A LOT.

Did any stories shift your perceptions of the characters?

My Shiro POV pieces absolutely did. In writing him this year I really embraced his character and got to nail down some of my own interpretation of him, especially in Lead Us Into Battle. It helps that in that fic, he gets to be a leader but also has the tables turned on him. It pushed me to love his character even more, when last year he was kind of a rare bird on my blog.

Most overdue story?

Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you can't ask me, a known fic killer, this. I wanna finish i'll be your sky this year.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?

I applied for zines!!! With standards and expectations and the possibility of rejection! And what I got out of the experience was an exercise in followthrough above all else. I had an outline that I stuck with and people to help me hash it out, and I'm incredibly grateful for the experience and the friends I made in the process. Shout out to the mods and contributers of Orion, you guys helped me grow 💖

What are your fic writing goals for next year?

• START AND FINISH A MULTICHAPTER. I have two main ideas kicking around that I want to see realized.

• Apply for more zines

• Finish my WIP series and leave no ends untied

• Either revive or gain the courage to delete Riven lmao. I just don't know how to continue right now, but maybe this year I'll find the solution.

I am twenty-one years old which is a little bit weird because I was just getting used to being twenty. XD 

I can also most definitely tell you my current fandoms! At the moment, they are Yuri On Ice, Fullmetal Alchemist and Voltron! I’m also getting into Banana Fish (which reminds me, I need to watch the last week episode) so I’m still jumping around the place.

“How was your walk, dear?” He asks, not looking up from where his eyes are scanning over the pages.

are you now more of a sheith writer? which is totally fine!! because sheith is beautiful and what you want to write is totally up to you and you probably don't need me telling you that and im rambling..., i was just curious because sheith is more heavily featured on your wonderful blog. and btw you're an amazing writer your fics and updates literally make my day ❤️

I am, yes! In my about page I’ve listed my blog as ‘sheith-centric multishipper’ which usually holds true. All my ships are listed in my faq, but in all honesty this fandom has been so grating for me when I tried to focus on & love all of those ships equally. It got to the point where I was even having to unfollow blogs that weren’t technically antis, for example some Shance shippers who shall not be named who were saying awful, unfounded, just plain rude things about Sheith which they either actually believed to be true, or they were doing it to defend their ship. Which is all around a shitty thing to do. 

Shipping should never be a battle for “which ship is gonna be canon/my ship is more valid than yours and here’s why!” It makes me very sad that the Voltron fandom has gotten to that point. I think things escalated even more in the wake of s6. 

For me, I prefer to write what makes me happiest, and Sheith makes me happiest. Sheith content is the least stressful for me to create and reblog, it’s the dynamic that I love the most, and for me personally it feels the most natural based on their relationship in the show. There’s also a lot of truly lovely people in this corner of the fandom, people who I never have to feel stifled or judged by. I started off in this fandom as a dedicated Klance shipper, and slowly became more drawn to Sheith as I kept watching the show (The Blade of Marmora episode really changed the tide for me haha). I always try not to let the fandom influence what I ship and write. It’s very easy to fall into a potentially harmful mob mentality & echo chamber environment if you seek fandom approval and acceptance that much. Besides, in the end, it’s about the show, not the fandom. 

I’ll also admit that part of the reason I’ve gotten so into writing Sheith is out of good-natured spite. What I mean by this is that, well, there’s only so many nasty anons a person can get before they feel like they need to retaliate or defend themselves in some way or another. I’m not one for cruel words or threats, though, so I’ve just continued writing all the Sheith content I want to see in the world. This has been really fulfilling for me, and hopefully fulfilling for my readers, too. And ultimately, fandom should be fulfilling, not exhausting.

- brave new world: my train wreck of a klance fic that is STILL sitting unfinished... one day ambrusia, one day... i am really attached to the work itself, i just have trouble continuing it. it was my first fic and what got me into writing after all, so it’ll always be dear to me! this fic is also what gave me confidence to start talking about certain topics <3 i kind of owe my recovery to this fic? i would have never opened up if i hadn’t written brave new world.

- you are my double full: this is a klance all star cheerleading au... i’m so sorry. basically i smashed my two biggest hyperfixations together and out popped yamdf. i really like the premise of it and i already know the story, now i just gotta stumble across the time.

- ex defenders of the universe: i wanted to explore how the paladins would adjust back into life after the war ended... will i ever finish this? idk.

- hocus pocus: VLD AU OFF THE MOVIE THAT’S ALL FOLKS. it was supposed to be released for halloween but after the first chapter i just couldn’t find the motivation to do it.

- an ocean of you: klance + college + aquariums + turtles!! i really want to finish this one day!!

- death to the angel: hey did you know that a/b/o is actually a commentary on feminism? or at least it can be. this is a victorian sheith fic i’m collabing with the wonderful @sugaryshiro! i never thought i’d really write a/b/o even though i do like the domestic bonding side of it, but sometimes you’ve just gotta do it.

- unsteady: a klance fic about having chronic illness. it’s inspired by my own struggles with crohns disease so it’s KIND OF a vent fic akdjhjaskdfh i just rlly like hospital comfort fics idk why!

- emt au: inspired by my older brother who’s an EMT i came up with this whole thing about the team as EMTs? hunk and lance have almost flipped at least one ambulance, totally on accident though.

- pokemon ranger au: shut the FUCK up i love pokemon ranger so much you have absolutely no idea. whenever im bored i usually go back to this fic to play around in it, but i’m not sure if i’d ever post it beyond a one shot. there’s just... a massive amount of work that’d have to go into it to make sure the world building is good and the adaptation makes sense while also glossing over the typical nonsensical details of pokemon... yeah... it’d be a lot man.

- kerberos flight shatt: i’ve talked about this briefly but i’m sort of planning a slowburn shatt au?? complete with zero gravity dates, mnm competitions, and uno games. im not sure how much i’ll get to BUT i really like it!

- expensive: could there be a fake relationship shance fic in the works? who knows!!

- masquerade: hey, im not saying keitor but... keith and lotor both going undercover at a ball for a mission (obv lotor for himself, keith is with the blade) and they meet each other. they can’t tell who the other is and just begin talking and eventually discover they both have a lot in common...

original writing (i’m a big fan of magic/kids saving the world)

- keeper’s grimm: you have to catch words and stories and stuff like a fuckin hunter... inspired by the quote ‘writing is like reading except the book is trying to kill you the entire time!’

- something about my bnw oc’s: it’s no secret i love vivirdian, imagene, lucivida, oran... everyone... and... i can’t help but feel like i need to give them their own story. it’ll... it’ll be great i can assure you that. it’ll probably be some fantasy au or somethin like that.

- carrying capacity: not sure if yall are aware but the world is about to reach carrying capacity... so uh... im gonna explore that one day

undertale suite - i started arranging an orchestral variation to some songs from undertale (i fell in love with that soundtrack) back in sophomore year! i’ve been working on it on and off for a while now, just whenever i’m feeling up to it. i’m really proud of what i have so far!

unwritten acapella - im part of an acapella group a my school and i’m working on arranging unwritten for us! in my sophomore year i arranged wings and we killed it.

animal crossing new leaf daily themes - i don’t talk about it a lot, but i looooove animal crossing. im trying to put together something for it!
