tbt to that time i let one (1) episode of tng shatter my shitty floaty aesthetic horror game facade and now im up in here talking about comics with a deanna troi icon

       she’s refused help before--- not because she didn’t need it, but because she hated feeling helpless or feeling like she had to rely on others all the time. it was how she’d felt for the longest time when her brother had to pull her out of stupid situations she’d gotten herself into. it had happened when she’d gotten into a car accident with her father and they’d doped her up enough so that she was somewhat delirious for a few days while she recovered.

          but being hurt enough to the point where she found herself exhaling the all-too-noticeable breaths of golden energy?

                  that was the last thing she needed other people seeing--- especially adults that weren’t her parents. she’d left them to try and sort things out on her own ( with some half-baked idea that leaving would be better in the long run anyway )-- but now she knew that maybe that wasn’t such a good idea after all. maybe they’d known what they were talking about.

                   “-----m-m’fine. it’s just a scrape.”

               teeth    are    grit         firmly        behind    a    veil    of    thick    lips        ,        a    glass    of    a   little    something    harder    than    usual    in    hand    since    he’d    started    packing.             “ so    you’re    really    doin’    it       ,       aren’t    ya’    ? ”              it’s    more   of    a    statement    than    question    in    the    way    it’s   presented        ──        arms    hanging    from    her    knees    as    she    occupies    the    side    of    their    bed.                            dad    had    left    them    here    for    a    few    days.          deanna    expected    it    wont    be    until    sam    leaves    for    stanford       ,        so    she    has         no    need        to    act    like    this    isn’t    affecting    either    half    of    her    heart.            “ leavin’    me    n’    dad    so    you    can        pretend        to    be    normal. ”            she    scoffs    audibly    at    that        ,        as    if    she   hadn’t    been    worried    about    this    for    years.          TOMORROW.            tomorrow    she    had    to    watch    him    go.            but   not    until    now    did    she    decide    to    have         this       conversation.
