TEAMING UP ⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
pairing: exbf!dean x huntress!reader
warnings: heavy tension, mention of guns, dean being cocky, explicit language, lowkey a lil angsty, maybe fluff (?)
Tumblr media
Dean moved carefully through the forest, keeping his steps light, always on high alert for any signs of the werewolf pack they were hunting. The brothers had tracked the attacks to this abandoned barn in the middle of nowhere. It was the perfect hideout—isolated, hidden deep in the woods, far enough from any town that no one would hear the screams. His grip tightened on the silver knife in his hand, they were close now.
He glanced over his shoulder to make sure Sam wasn't too far behind. They had split up to cover more ground, but something about this hunt felt off. He couldn't shake the feeling that they weren't the only ones out here tonight.
That feeling was confirmed when he heard the faint rustle in the bushes ahead. Instinctively, Dean tensed, his body ready for a fight as he inched closer to the noise. He barely had time to react before something lunged at him, slamming him back against a tree with a force that knocked the breath from his lungs.
Before he could get a grip on what was happening, he felt cold steel press into his chest, and a fierce hand gripping his throat. Whoever had him pinned was strong and definitely a combat master. And as his eyes adjusted to the shadows, he recognized the face glaring up at him.
"y/n?"
His voice came out rough, startled. It had been years since he'd seen you—his ex, the one who'd walked out of his life after you’d both decided your worlds were too dangerous to pull love and feelings into the mix. The one who never left his mind, no matter how much time passed.
You blinked, shock flashing in your eyes before it hardened into something more familiar. You stepped back, releasing him, but the gun stayed firmly in your grip, aimed at him as you spoke. "What the hell are you doing here, Dean?"
Of all people to run into on this hunt, it had to be him. It was like the universe was playing some kind of sick joke on you. You hadn't seen Dean in years, not since you both decided to go separate ways. Too much baggage, too much history. You had moved on. At least, that's what you kept telling yourself.
He rubbed his neck, a small smirk tugging at his lips despite the fact that you had nearly taken him out. "Nice to see you too, y/n. Still got that charming bedside manner, huh?"
Your eyes were cold, all business, just like you had been when you first met on a hunt years ago. You hadn't changed much—still fierce, still sharp, still... fucking beautiful. The moonlight highlighted the determination on your face, and for a second, Dean almost forgot where you two were.
"I nearly shot you," you said frustrated, trying to get rid of the thought of almost killing your ex boyfriend. Dean shrugged, his smirk fading as he let out a breath. "Wouldn't be the first time."
Your jaw clenched, and he could see the wheels turning in your head. He didn't know whether you were more annoyed that he was here or that he'd caught you off guard. Definitely both.
"This is my hunt," you snapped, eyes narrowing at him. "I've been tracking this pack for weeks.", "Yeah, well, so have we," Dean replied, meeting your glare. "Sam and I are here to take them out. Same mission, different day."
Your eyes flashed with anger, and for a second, Dean thought you might shove him back against the tree again. You had always been like this—stubborn, independent, never one to back down. It was one of the things that had drawn him to you in the first place, even if it was also the reason you couldn't make it work. You were too much alike, both hunters, both living lives that didn't leave room for anything or anyone else.
You stepped back, shaking your head. "I don't need your help, Dean. I've got this." Dean crossed his arms, his expression serious now. "Really? You're gonna take on a whole werewolf pack by yourself?"
You glared at him, and he could tell you weren’t in the mood for his questions. But he wasn't about to let you get yourself killed, even if you wanted to do this alone. There were too many of them—he and Sam had already counted at least five, maybe more, and even someone as tough as you couldn't take on that many without backup.
"Look," he said, trying to keep his voice calm, "I know you don't want me here, but we're on the same hunt. Let's take these bastards out together, and then you can go back to pretending I don't exist."
You scoffed, your grip tightening on your gun while you rolled your eyes at him. You didn't need anyone else. You had always worked best alone, and you weren’t about to let anything—or anyone—get in your way. Dean's temper flared for a second, but he held it back. "Look, I'm here to finish the job. That’s it.”
You both stood there, staring each other down, the tension between you thick. It was the same as it had always been, that push and pull that had kept you together—and tore you apart in the end. Eventually you gave in, at least it would be quicker this way, right?
Dean couldn't stop himself from watching you as you approached the barn. You moved like a shadow, silent and sharp, every step calculated, your eyes scanning the area like a hawk. You were damn good—one of the best hunters he knew. But that didn't make him worry any less. The werewolf pack all of you were up against wasn't just dangerous—it was reckless, and there were too many variables that could go wrong. Dean knew that better than anyone.
You had always been independent, always insisted on doing things your way, and normally, Dean respected that. Hell, he admired it. Yet he couldn't shake the knot of worry tightening in his chest.
It felt like old times, like you were slipping back into the partnership you used to have, it was like no time had passed at all. You still got under his skin, still made his heart race in ways he didn't want to admit. And as much as he tried to focus on the hunt, on the job, he couldn't ignore the pull he still felt toward you.
There was unfinished business between you two—there always had been. And deep down, Dean knew that no matter how hard he tried to move on, some part of him would always be tied to you. You weren’t just part of his past. You were part of who he was, whether he liked it or not and he had to keep you safe.
Dean glanced over at you, his jaw tight. "Get behind me." You shot him a look, the fire in your eyes flickering to life. "I don't need you to babysit me, Dean. I've got this." He gritted his teeth, trying to keep his voice steady, but the frustration was bubbling up inside him. "I'm not babysitting you. I just don't want you to get yourself killed." You stopped in your tracks and turned to face him. "You don't think I can handle it?"
"That's not what I'm saying," Dean growled, stepping closer. "I know you can handle it, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna stand here and watch you get torn apart." Your eyes flared with anger. "I don't need your protection."
“y/n I just want yo-“ he started, wanting to explain himself, yet you couldn’t help the frustration growing inside you. You always hated when he got too protective. For some it may seem caring and sweet, which it definitely was, but it made you feel weak, like Dean didn’t trust you. So before he could finish his sentence, you turned on him, shoving him hard against the nearest tree. He stumbled back, surprised, but he didn't resist.
Your arm was pressed against his chest, face just inches apart. "I've been doing this a long time," you hissed, voice low and dangerous. "I don't need you swooping in like some knight in shining armor. I'm not the damsel here, Dean." His lips curved into a smirk, the familiar cocky grin he knew would rile you up even more. "Never said you were, sweetheart. But if you wanted to get rough, all you had to do was ask."
Your eyes narrowed, he was so annoyingly attractive like this. Dean could feel the heat between the two of you rising, the space between you growing smaller, charged with a tension that had been brewing for years. You were still pressed against him, body close enough that he could feel the warmth of you against his chest.
"Don't start with me, Dean," you warned, but your voice had softened, just a fraction. Dean leaned in slightly, his grin still in place. "Who's starting? I'm just trying to be helpful."
You faltered for a split second, and Dean saw it—the brief flash of confusion in your eyes, the way your breath caught in your throat. You felt your pulse quicken, not from the argument, but from the way he was looking at you. That look—the one that always tore down your walls, no matter how hard you fought to keep them up. You hated that about him. Hated how, despite everything that had happened between you, despite how far you had come on your own, he still had this hold over you.
Your grip on his shirt loosened just enough that he could feel the tension in you melting away, little by little. For a moment, you stood there, locked in place, the world around you already forgotten. Dean's eyes flicked down to your lips, and for a split second, he wondered if maybe—just maybe—they could pick up where you two left off, despite everything that had happened.
His eyes pierced yours as you tried to remind yourself of the reasons the two of you didn't work, the reasons you had left. Dean was trouble. He was chaos. But when his eyes had flicked to your lips, every rational thought disappeared. It was like all those years apart hadn't changed anything. You still wanted him, still felt that magnetic pull whenever you two were close like this.
Your breath hitched, and you leaned in, your lips barely an inch from his. The heat between you was undeniable now, thick and electric, pulling both of you closer. Dean could feel his heart pounding in his chest, everything else fading into the background. It was just you and him, like it always had been. But just as you were about to cross that line, a voice cut through the tension like a blade. "Uh, Dean?"
You two immediately jerked apart, snapping back to reality as Sam emerged from the shadows, his face a mix of shock and confusion. His eyes darted between you two, lingering on your form, and the look on his face said it all—he hadn't expected to see you, not after all these years.
"y/n?" Sam's voice was thick with surprise, his brows raised. "What are you doing here?" You quickly pulled yourself together, straightening your stance as you brushed off the tension that had almost swallowed you whole. "Just... hunting," you said coolly, but your voice wavered just enough that you could tell Dean noticed.
Dean cleared his throat, trying to shake off the heat still coursing through him. He shot a quick glance at you, walls back up in an instant. You kept your face neutral, but inside, you were cursing yourself for almost letting it happen. You had almost kissed him. After everything, after all the time you spent trying to move on, you had almost let yourself fall back into Dean’s orbit.
Sam's eyes flicked to his brother, and Dean could see the question there, unspoken but loud. He didn't have an answer for him—not right now. All he knew was that something between you and him had shifted, and no matter how hard you both tried to deny it, you couldn't go back to pretending like nothing had happened.
Not after this.

Pining In The Pines
Tumblr media
Dean x reader
Word count-3843
Warnings- Angst, some fluff
Summary- Y/N and the boys have to go on a hunt in her old hometown. She's not happy to go home, and especially not when Dean makes a comment that brings up bad memories. How will she take it? And will Dean be able to make it right?
A/N- This fills my Secret Passageway square for @jacklesversebingo
First, I suck at summaries 😂 Second, this fic is a little self-indulgent. I've written it about where I'm actually from and the stigma about the people in this area. I really hope you like it!
“So, get this,” Sam started the conversation as he looked at his laptop.
Y/N couldn’t stop the giggle that bubbled in her chest. It never failed. When he found a hunt, the first words out of his mouth were, ‘So, get this.’ That’s how she and Dean knew to stop and pay attention. He had something they needed to hear. So, she tried to contain her laughter and give Sam the attention he wanted.
“Y/N…Do you have to laugh every single time?” Sam groaned but didn’t wait for a response, continuing with what he wanted to say, “There’s supposedly been a Wendigo spotted in Morehead, Kentucky. Homeowners caught it on their security camera for their driveway.”
“Morehead…Isn’t that close to where you grew up, sweetheart?” Dean wondered, looking over at the huntress beside him.
“It’s a few counties over, but yeah, it’s close enough. Did you say there was footage?” she questioned, leaning forward to look at Sam’s laptop as he spun it around for her and Dean to see.
Her breath caught in her throat as Dean put his hand on her lower back as he leaned forward to watch the video. As much as she didn’t want to admit it, she had fallen in love with the eldest Winchester. But how was she supposed to be around him, living in the bunker with him, and not fall head over heels?
It was true that he had a temper, could be a real grump, and be downright mean sometimes. But, over the years, she’d learned that his temper flared most when someone he cared about was in danger. He would be grumpy when the weight of the world had gotten almost too heavy to bear, and he tried to push it down and keep it bottled up. He was mean when he thought he needed to push someone he cared about away because he was the one putting them in danger. To her, that was just the sign of a man who had been hurt, a man who loved deeply, one who cared so much that the thought of losing someone he loved was unbearable. So, how was she not going to fall for him at some point?
But that’s as far as it went. She would never admit her feelings. She couldn’t. The likely rejection would be her end, and she would have to leave the bunker. She’d rather pine for him in tortuous silence than not have him in her life at all. So, as always, she shoved her feelings back down, focusing on the screen in front of her, and prepared for the hunt she knew was coming.
“Earth to Y/N,” Dean nudged her, clearly seeing she was in her own little world.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m watching,” she rolled her eyes, trying to hide that she was fantasizing about the green-eyed Adonis.
“Where was that pretty little head of yours?” he teased, his words making her heart ache. If only he really thought that way.
“Just thinking of what I’ll need to pack. ‘Cause we’re clearly going to Kentucky, am I right?” she lied, hoping they would buy it.
“Yeah, we have to check this out. I’ve never heard of a Wendigo this far east before,” Sam answered, getting Dean’s attention away from her. Thank Chuck.
“There’s a lot of things in the Appalachian mountains that no one knows about. Trust me, you don’t want to be caught in those woods alone after dark,” she shivered at the thought.
“Don’t tell me you’re scared of the dark?” Dean tried to tease, but she gave him a stern look that made him think twice.
“You should know that I’m not scared of the dark. I follow you into some of the darkest, creepiest places on earth. But, I grew up there, Dean. It’s not even just the monsters you have to worry about. I mean, there are bears, mountain lions, wolves…” she trailed off, not wanting to mention some of the crazy people that live in those mountains.
“Okay, okay,” Dean huffed, throwing his hands up in mock surrender, “I get it.”
“You better. You have to keep your head on a swivel while we’re in the woods. I’d hate to have to save your sorry ass from the real-life Yogi Bear,” she winked, “Because your ass will be the picnic basket.”
Dean crossed his arms over his chest, annoyed at her sarcasm as Sam laughed. Even though she was crazy in love with him, she could give him shit right back. And to be honest, she thoroughly enjoyed frustrating him. As she saw it, it was payback for him making her love him in the first place. She continued to chuckle as she went to her room to pack. Y/N didn’t like the thought of going home. Too many memories she’d like to forget. But duty calls, so she was packing her bags for the long drive to southeast Kentucky.
—---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I highly doubt there’s a Wendigo here. They don’t stay in the wide-open woods,” Dean complained while trekking through the mountains.
“Dean, do you not know anything about the topography of Kentucky?” Y/N asked, shaking her head in annoyance. He’d been in a mood all day.
“Yes, sweetheart. I spend all my free time studying the layout of a state I rarely ever visit,” his sarcasm made her want to smack him in the head.
“Well, dear,” she said just as sarcastically, “Kentucky is known for its underground cave systems. You know, Mammoth Cave. One of the biggest cave systems in the world…”
“Of course! Because spelunking is high on my to-do list!”
“Oh! Look at him, Sam. He’s using big boy words like spelunking. I’m so proud of you, Dean!” she half shouted at him. Trying to keep her voice down so as not to attract unwanted attention to whatever was out there.
“Guys! Knock it off. We’re here to kill a Wendigo. Not for you two to kill each other!” Sam exclaimed, throwing his hands up in frustration.
“She started it,” Dean whined, acting like a child.
“Fuck off, Dean,” she growled as she walked ahead of them. Leading them to the caves she knew were close.
Y/N ignored the bickering between the brothers behind her as she made her way through the trees. She loved Dean, but today, she thought about leaving him in one of the caves they found. He’d been an ass since they woke up at the motel, and she couldn’t figure out what had his boxers in a bunch. They’d had to share a bed, but she didn’t think he’d be that pissed about that, but she wouldn’t put anything past him at that point. But, whatever it was, it tempted her to make him Wendigo lunch.
“Slow down, Y/N. We’re not born and raised hillbillies like you are. It’s taking us a little longer to navigate this hellscape,” Dean yelled, grumbling under his breath about her getting too far ahead.
Y/N froze. That was the last straw. Yes, she’d been born and raised in the area, but that word…Hillbilly. She’d been trying to get rid of that stigma since she left the mountains, and now hearing Dean, the man she loved, call her that derogatory term was too much to take.
“Let me tell you something, asshole! Yeah, I grew up here, but I’m not a fucking hillbilly! I’ll have you know not everyone who lives in Appalachia are backwoods, uneducated, rednecks! So, take that term, and shove it straight up your ass!” she screamed, her anger boiling over into dangerous territory.
Before either of the boys could say a word, a guttural, terrifying growl tore through the darkening woods. Y/N spun around to see what they’d been there to find. The Wendgio was only about thirty feet behind her, moving in quickly. Sam shouted for her to get behind him, breaking her out of her stupor. Once she’d cleared his line of sight, Sam grabbed his homemade flamethrower, flicking his lighter to ignite it, but nothing happened. He tried again but to no avail. Y/N’s screams tore through the night air…
“Run! Follow me!”
The boys were quick at her heels as she weaved them in and out of the trees and underbrush. Dean couldn’t help but think about how impressed he was at her agility in that terrain. He could tell she’d grown up here and knew her way around, which brought him to his next thought. How guilty he felt for saying what he had. But now was not the time to apologize. Right now, he had to concentrate on not losing sight of her and getting shredded to pieces by the monster on their tails.
“Here! Guys, hurry!” she shouted, an old moonshining cabin in her sight.
Once she reached the cabin, she flung open the door, waiting for the boys to enter before slamming it shut, silently praying that the rickety lock would hold just long enough to devise a plan.
“What the hell happened back there?” Dean asked, hands on his knees as he panted for breath.
“I don’t know! The flamethrower has never not worked before,” Sam answered with the same labored breathing as his brother.
“Well, we can figure that out later. Now, we need to figure out how to stay alive!” Y/N yelled, panic starting to set in.
“Calm down, sweetheart. We’ll be okay,” Dean tried to calm her down, but she was still too angry with him.
“Don’t! Do not ‘sweetheart’ me! You had no right to talk to me like that!”
“Look, swe- Y/N, I’m sorry. But I don’t understand why that made you so mad,” Dean spoke as he looked around the cabin for something to use as a makeshift weapon.
“That was a shit apology, Winchester. Just…just don’t speak to me until we get out of this mess,” she groaned, then mumbled, “If we live through this mess.”
“Hey!” Dean shouted, getting her attention, “We are getting out of this. Don’t talk like that.”
“Can you tell me how you plan to get us out of here? Cause I don’t see another way out except through the door that Wendigo is now trying to beat down!”
As she walked toward Dean, her foot almost went through the floor, or at least it felt like it. She stopped, pushing down with her foot one more time. The bounce under her foot had her laughing loudly, and the boys looked at her like she’d lost her mind. Dean spoke as she started to rip the rug she stood on out of the way.
“Care to tell us what you find so funny?”
“This!” she continued to laugh in relief as she pointed to the hatch in the floor where she’d been standing, “It’s our way out!”
“How do you know that? It could be just an old cellar,” Sam asked, walking over to inspect what she’d found.
“Well, as Dean so nicely put it, us hillbillies would dig secret passageways to transport the moonshine back and forth without the police seeing them. They almost always lead to an abandoned coal mine or cave opening. Sometimes other cabins.”
“Y/N, come on, I tried to apologize. I didn’t know it would upset you that much,” Dean threw his hands up in exasperation.
“Well, it did, and…” she started to argue when Sam interrupted them.
“Maybe you two can finish this fight once we know we’re not going to die? Let’s go!”
Y/N and Dean simultaneously rolled their eyes. Sam would have told them they were two peas in a pod if they weren’t in such a hurry to save their asses. Y/N was the first one down the ladder, explaining that she’d be their best bet for not getting completely lost underground, and neither brother disagreed. Dean followed, with Sam on his heels. Once they were underground, Y/N led the way, and the boys were impressed with how well she could get around in the tunnels.
After what seemed like a lifetime, Dean was going to ask if she really knew where she was going, but before he could open his mouth, they turned a corner and could see a light up ahead in the tunnel's ceiling. Y/N was climbing the ladder through another hatch before Dean knew what was happening. Maybe her nickname should be Squirrel instead of him, he chuckled to himself. As the last brother made it out of the tunnel and into another cabin, Y/N slammed the hatch, pushing an old, heavy piece of furniture over it. Luckily, this one was still quite furnished, with beds still in the bedrooms and an old couch in front of a fireplace.
“This is home until morning,” she stated, looking around, finding, albeit dusty, pillows and blankets in a closet.
“Better than nothing,” Sam shrugged, walking into one of the bedrooms and shutting the door, leaving only one bedroom for her and Dean.
“Looks like we’re sharing again, sweetheart,” Dean chuckled, trying to lighten the mood.
“Nah, take the bed. I’ll take the couch,” she whispered, not looking at him. Damn, she was still mad.
“I’m not taking a bed and putting you on an old debilitated couch, Y/N.”
“It’s fine. My adrenaline is still too high to sleep. Besides, I’ll keep watch so you can get some rest. You have to drive us back to the bunker tomorrow. I can sleep in the car.”
“Y/N…”
“No, Dean, it’s fine. Please, just take the bed. I’m too tired to argue,” she almost begged, wanting to be alone.
“I thought you said you weren’t tired?” he smirked, trying to joke, but she wasn’t having it.
“I’m mentally exhausted. I just need time to myself to wind down. Now, please, go get some sleep so we can get the hell out of here in the morning,” she pleaded, the look on her face breaking his heart. He had really hurt her with what he said.
“Okay, sweetheart. Good night,” he said dejectedly, knowing it would be a sleepless night. His guilt would make sure of it.
“Night,” she replied, turning her back to him, sitting down on the couch, staring out the window, never glancing his way. The click of the door made her wince as Dean went to bed.
Sleepless night was an understatement. Dean’s eyes didn’t close once as he lay there thinking how wrong the day had gone. He and Y/N had argued since their feet hit the floor that morning. Him being an ass was the reason for it. He hated fighting with her, but when he woke that morning, she was curled up at his side, her head on his chest. Usually, a man wouldn't complain about having a beautiful woman wrapped around him, but it tends to put you in a pissy mood when it’s a woman you love but can’t have.
Dean was ass over tea kettle for Y/N, but he’d never tell her that. She deserved so much better than being saddled with a man who could barely stand his own company most days. He drank too much, and he wasn’t good at communicating how he felt. He knew that. Sam had told him many times he needed to learn to open up, but he didn’t want to burden anyone with the shitshow that was his mind. Especially her. So, as with his other emotions, he pushed his love for her deep and tried to ignore it. Lately, that hadn’t been working so well. As he lay there telling himself all the reasons he couldn’t have her, a sound caught his attention. He tiptoed to the door, cracking it slowly, and what he saw had him rushing out the door.
“Y/N, sweetheart, what’s wrong? Are you okay?” he quizzed her as he rushed to her side, pulling her into his arms. Her sobs were what he’d heard.
“I’m fine, Dean. Go back to bed,” she hiccuped through her tears. She couldn’t tell him the full truth.
“Obviously, you are the opposite of fine. Talk to me.”
“There’s nothing to talk about.”
“Hey, look at me,” he whispered, placing her chin between his thumb and index finger to turn her face to him, “Is this about today?”
“Partially,” she admitted, trying to turn her head back to the window, but his grip wouldn’t let her.
“Y/N…I’m so so sorry. I know I was being an ass, but I had no idea it would hurt your feelings like that. Can you explain to me why? I’m not trying to fight. I honestly don’t understand.”
“I’ve tried to get rid of the ‘hillbilly’ stigma since I left this place. It's always the same thing whenever someone finds out where I’m from. There’s this image people have about people from the Appalachian mountains that just aren’t true. We’re not a bunch of ignorant, uneducated people who live deep in the woods and never come out. Unfortunately, movies and TV shows have depicted us in such a bad light that most people think that’s all we are. And when that term comes from the man you…” she gasped, catching what she almost said. But Dean caught it as well.
“The man you what, Y/N?” he asked, holding his breath. Was she about to admit what he thought? Maybe, just maybe, he could try to be better, be the man she deserved if she loved him too.
“Dean…” she whimpered, trying to turn away from him again, but he wasn’t letting her go now.
“Uh uh, say it. Say it, Y/N,” he pleaded, his eyes staring into hers, “Were you going to say the man you loved?”
“Yes! Okay? I was going to say the man I loved!” she shouted in frustration as she jumped from the couch, finally breaking Dean’s hold on her, “Now, go ahead and tell me that you don’t see me that way, tell me that you don’t want me, so I can prepare to pack my shit and leave when we get back to the bunker. Because I can’t stay there and see you every day after your rejection. I just can’t.”
Dean stood and walked to her as she stood staring out the window, her back to him after her confession. He touched her shoulder, gently turning her to face him. Her look of sadness and despair nearly ripped his heart from his chest. He thought having his heart literally ripped out would hurt less than seeing her like this. He slid his hand up from her shoulder to cup her cheek. A tear trickled down her face as she closed her eyes at his touch, and he swiped it away with his thumb.
“Is that what you want me to tell you, or do you want me to tell you the truth?” he asked softly, waiting for her to open her eyes, which didn’t take a split second. Her eyes went wide.
“What are you saying?” she uttered shakily.
“I’m saying that I love you, too, Y/N. I have for a long time.”
“But, but,” she stuttered, trying to find her words, “You were so mad at me when we woke up this morning. That isn’t how someone acts when they love the person in bed with them.”
“Sweetheart, I was mad because I opened my eyes to the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen curled up against me, and all I could think was how I wanted it to mean something, and I didn’t think it ever would. If I’m being honest, you could do so much better. And thinking I’d never have you that way pissed me off because I’ve never wanted someone as bad as I want you, Y/N. You’re my first thought when I wake up, and I fall asleep picturing you beside me. I know I’m not a good man, and there’s someone out there that could and would give you more than I’ll ever be able to, but if you really love me, I’m going to be selfish for one time in my fucking life and ask you to give me a chance. I can guarantee that I’m going to piss you off and probably hurt your feelings again, but it will never be intentional. So, what do you say? You want to give us a shot?” He poured his heart out to her, leaning his forehead against hers as he waited for an answer.
“Dean, contrary to what you believe, you are a good man. You love with your whole being and fiercely protect those lucky enough to get that love. I know you don’t believe you deserve it, but you deserve the world, Dean Winchester, and I’d be honored to be the one to try and give it to you.”
“Really?” he asked with a million-watt smile, leaning back to look her in the eye.
“I’ve never wanted anything more,” she returned his smile, both sighing in relief.
“Come here,” he growled, pulling her face to his and kissing her passionately.
The kiss was better than either had imagined, and they both poured the love they felt for the other into it. They stayed that way until the need to breathe became too much, pulling away with smiles. He pulled her into a hug, laying his head on top of hers. They stayed silent for a few minutes before Dean broke the silence.
“So, you want to move your stuff into my room when we get back?
“I don’t know, Dean,” she pulled back, chewing on her bottom lip, “I really think we need to take this as slowly as possible. Make sure that we’re going to last.”
“Oh, yeah, okay,” he agreed, his heart clenching at the hurt he felt.
“I’m just joking,” she laughed, poking him in the ribs, “You’re not going to get rid of me now!”
“Damn it, Y/N! That wasn’t funny! You almost gave me a heart attack,” he grumbled, not finding her joke all that funny.
“I think I’m hilarious,” she smirked up at him.
“You’re something, alright. Now, how about we both try to get some rest? We have a lot of packing to do when we get home,” he suggested, leading her toward the bedroom, “You have a lot of shit. I don’t know where we’re going to put it all.”
“Ha ha,” she deadpanned, “Well, we could always get rid of your vinyl collection to make room.”
“Hey! Those are fighting words,” he growled playfully, leaning down to nip at her bottom lip.
“Bring it on, old man,” she cackled as his eyes shot up his forehead in shock.
“I’ll show you an old man!” he said in faux anger, chasing her into the bedroom.
All that could be heard as the bedroom door shut was the laughter and playful banter between the new couple, and that’s how it stayed for the years to come.

Tumblr media
“Sam! Sam, stop! You’re going to kill him!” You desperately try to drag Sam off a fellow hunter. You don’t like the hunter, but the last thing you need is rumors spreading that Sam Winchester killed another hunter. “Sam, please.”
“He tried to touch what’s mine!” Sam is like an animal. Not only because of his soullessness but also because the hunter tried to hit on you during a get-together to celebrate the life of a deceased hunter. “No one touches what’s mine.”
You huff. It’s not like you’re together or shit. Sam is simply obsessed with fucking you. There’s no love or even feelings between the two of you.
“SAMMY!” Dean and Cas finally come to your aid. They grab Sam by his arms and drag him off the hunter. “What the fuck!”
“He tried to grope my girl’s ass.” Sam tries to apologize that he tried to beat the life out of the man. “No one touches what’s mine, Dean. Not even you.”
“Sam, get your shit together,” Dean snaps at his brother. Lately, he’s struggling to see Sam as his brother. Death brought Sam’s soul back, but they are still trying to figure out how to turn the new version back into his former self.
Sam squares his jaw. “Let go of me, or you’ll get a taste of my strength too.” Dean shakes his head. The thing possessing his brother is so unlike the Sam he raised. “Y/N, come.”
He holds out his hand for you. You could tell him to fuck off because he flirted with one of the huntresses, but it would only cause Sam to go rampant and find a reason to fight with someone else.
“Sam,” you huff when he drags you toward the back of the place, away from the crowd. “Where are we going?”
“I need to fuck you,” he states, ignoring that you wiggle in his tight grip. “You need to feel it in your bones that your holes are all mine.”
“Says the guy flirting with some bitch moments ago. You’re only angry because the guy was nice to me.” You bite back.
He stops in his tracks to look you up and down. His eyes darken, and you bite your tongue. One wrong word and he fucks you right there, in front of everyone.
“He touched you,” he snarls. “I told her to go down on her knees and suck me off if she wants my help on a hunt.” Sam shrugs. “She was an uptight bitch. Not wet and soft like you.”
“What the—?” You can’t believe Sam sometimes. He tells you he wanted some bitch to suck him off after he almost beat a man to death because the hunter dared to talk to you. “You’re unbelievable!”
“I know, kitten,” he purrs and presses you against the wall. He slips one hand between your bodies to hastily unbutton your pants. Your eyes round. Sam can’t be serious. “That’s why you’re always so needy.”
“I hate you so much,” you argue, but don’t fight his hand slipping inside your pants to pinch your clit. “Sam, not here. Let’s go somewhere else.” You know Sam is pumped up and needs to release some steam. “Please.”
“I love it when you beg me.” He presses his lips to yours, swallowing the tiny moans escaping your lips. Sam smirks when you buck your hips, silently begging him for more. He hums against your lips as he slips his index finger inside your cunt. “Already so wet for me.”
“S-am,” you whimper against his lips. “Pl-ease. Somewhere else.”
“I want them to know you’re mine,” he growls and removes his hand. You don’t argue. Fighting with Sam is a lost cause. Instead, you let him grab your hand and guide you out of the bar.
Sam leads you toward a car you don’t recognize. He twirls you around to bend you over the hood. Sam rips your still unbuttoned jeans down your legs, taking your panties with it.
“That’s how I like you.” He slaps your ass, roughly groping your globes. If you weren’t in a parking lot, he’d spank your ass raw tonight. “Always so ready to take my cock.”
Sam uses his large hand to spread your ass-cheeks. He smirks when you wiggle in his grip. You know he wants to prove your ass belongs to him. Literally. A warm liquid hits the crack of your ass, making you whimper. “Oh, kitten. This ass is mine.” He hums. “It opens up like a slutty hole to me.”
“Sam, not here,” you try one last time, but Sam throws the empty bottle of lube over his shoulder. He unzips his pants and slaps his cock against your ass.
“You’ll let me fuck this tight asshole and take it like a good slut. Maybe I’ll let you cum this time too.” Sam laughs when you hiss his name. He ignores you’re angry at him for flirting with the other woman. While you lie on the car, giving in to his demands once again, he runs his hard cock up and down the crack of your ass to get lube all over his massive erection. “You’re my whore.”
He presses the tip inside, making you hiss. It’s always a struggle to take Sam up your ass. At least he’s less impatient tonight and slowly inches his way inside. His hands grip your hips hard enough to hurt.
“Fuck, Sam…”
“Yeah, I’m going to fuck this hole open,” he growls like the possessive caveman he turns into when it comes to fucking you. “Watch me ruin her ass.”
You don’t have time to think about his words. Sam pushes you down onto the hood of the car and holds you there as he shoves the last inches inside. You’re panting because his massive cock feels good in your tightest hole.
“You’re an ass whore. I knew it.” Sam leans over your body to whisper in your ear. “Say it. Say, I’m Sam Winchester’s anal slut.”
“I’m—” you choke out a moan when Sam slowly starts pushing in and out of your ass. He barely moves his hips, only pressing his cock into you with short strokes, but you feel immense pleasure. You don’t know why, but no matter how Sam fucks you, it always feels good. “I’m Sam Winchester’s anal slut.” You breathe out, making Sam laugh.
“Yes, you are,” he pants in your neck while his hips mercilessly crash into your ass. “Always full of my cock, only mine.”
“Yes…”
“I bet you’ll cum like the whore you are with my big cock up your ass,” he taunts. “Right? You’ll squirt like a slut because you’re my anal whore.”
You should be ashamed. Sam is fucking your ass over the hood of someone else’s car. He calls you his whore, but you couldn’t care less. The bastard ruining your ass isn’t wrong. The pressure in your ass has you tethering on the edge of an orgasm.
He’s pounding you deep, hard, and fast. Sam groans in your ear, getting more excited. His desperate groans get you more excited. Your body is ready to give in to the pleasured pain. You whimper his name, telling him to cum inside of your ass.
And he just lets go, slamming one hand between your legs to swipe left, right, left, and right until you squirt all over his hand. “Perfect whore, isn't she?”
Sam pulls out, stepping away from the car to let whoever watched him fuck your ass watch his cum drip out of your gaping hole.
“Perfect hole.”
You try to catch your breath as you lie on the car. Total spend. Sam eagerly spreads your cheeks to look at his cum. He hums before thrusting one finger inside to scoop a large amount of his cum with his finger. “Come here and have a taste.”
“Dude, I’m good over here,” the man grunts. He’s holding his bruised ribs and glares at Sam. “I don’t know what kind of sick game you’re playing, but I’m out.”
“I said,” Sam growls in the man’s direction. “Come over here and have a taste. That’s what you wanted, right? To fuck my girl’s ass.”
“Sam?” You slowly get up from the car and pull your pants back up. You turn around to watch the man Sam punched earlier stand a few feet away. “What the fuck!”
“Buddy, if you ever get close to her ass again, you’re dead,” Sam smirks darkly. He wraps his hand around the man’s throat and forces his finger inside his mouth. “That’s the closest you’ll get to my girl’s ass. Now swallow like a good boy and get lost.”
Tumblr media
“You found a way?” You whisper to not wake Sam. After the fucked-up stunt, he pulled his brother, knocked him out. “How can I help you?”
“You need to distract him. Stay inside the room until Death arrives. It’s only a few hours; Y/N. Sammy will be back soon,” Dean gives you an apologetic look. “I know you liked this one, but...”
“Not after tonight!” You hold up your hand. “He risked my safety, Dean. If that guy was a little more..." You sniffle. “If he knocked Sam out, it would’ve ended badly for me, Dean. If we can bring the normal Sam back, I’d do anything to help you.
Tumblr media
Screams echo through Bobby's house. You press your hand to your ears and try to blend out that Sam is suffering inside Bobby’s panic room.
Death brought his soul back and finally found a way to get the old Sam back too.
If only it weren’t so painful...
“It’s going to be alright.” You look at Dean, nodding. You don’t know if he wants to convince you or himself. “It must…”
The screams abruptly end. Death slips out of the room. He ignores you and whispers something in Dean’s ear. “I know, we will be careful.”
Tumblr media
You gave the brothers time and space to reunite, promising to stick around for the next case. The procedure was a success. Sam is back to his old self.
What Dean didn’t tell you before Death got to work was that Sam wouldn’t remember your time together. The truth is, Sam doesn’t remember anything after he jumped into the pit.
Maybe it’s for the best. What you let his soulless version do to you was something the old Sam would never understand.
“Y/N, hey.” You look up from your book when Sam calls your name. He leans in the doorframe, eyes glued to your exposed legs. “I heard you helped Dean while I was gone.”
“Uh-yeah. Kinda,” you lie. It’s all you can do. Death warned you and the others not to tell Sam what happened over the last months. If you do, the consequences will be dire.
“Hmm…” He pushes off the doorframe, stepping inside your motel room. Sam slams the door shut and hums as you flinch at the sudden motion. His eyes are softer, and his behavior changed, but the smirk creeping on his face is not different from his soulless version’s smirk. “I see, you liked riding my dick.”
“What? I—what?” You splutter. He can’t know. It’s impossible. Death said Sam won’t remember a thing.
“I can’t remember much, but the videos on my phone helped me. I must say, you have been a good little slut for me.” He laughs darkly as you stare at him like a deer in headlights. “How about we refresh my memory and you let me fuck that pretty cunt and ass again?”

"Sleep. I'll keep you safe." - Dean Winchester Prompt Response
Tumblr media
Summary: When Sam calls to tell you that Dean is gone, you can't accept it. Not until you visit the offline Bunker and see for yourself. ...But is he really gone?
Pairing: Dean Winchester x Female!Reader; Dean Winchester x Huntress!Female!Reader
A/N: Prompt from @thelonelyempath. I had this idea for a scene in my head that took place during 15x20 with the reader and Sam & then from there it just kind of wrote itself, including the semi-twist. Hope it's okay.
There is a song mentioned in here ("Is This Love" by Whitesnake) which is a sort of homage/dedication/thank you. I read this Dean x Reader fic a long time ago (I can't remember the name of the fic or the author right now, I'm sorry!) but they used the song for some Dean/Reader time in the Impala and I had never heard the song before so I checked it out. I have become obsessed with it. It's so perfect, not only for Dean but in general as an 80s love rock ballad. So thank you to that author whoever you are!
This is meant to take place between mid-15x20 and Dean's foray in The Winchesters (pre-series).
Unbeta'd so all mistakes are mine.

You sat on the corner of the bed in your motel room, numb, your phone next to you, having been forgotten long ago.
It couldn’t be true. It wasn’t. You refused to believe it. How was Dean just gone? On a simple hunt? How?
Sam had called you to give you the news. You could hear the breaks in his voice as he relayed what happened, sounding as if he had been crying just a few minutes before. Vampires. Who were mute. A gang of them run by a vampire named Jenny they had faced off with years ago. On a hunt with John. She had gotten away and they thought she was gone for good. Apparently not.
You were frozen, in shock, unable to process what he was telling you.
“Y/N?”
“I… I need to see him,” you whispered.
Sam was quiet for a moment before he forced out, “I gave him a hunter’s funeral.”
You shut your eyes in pain. “What?” You could feel your throat tightening as well as your chest.
“I’m sorry, Y/N, but I had to. I couldn’t…” You heard him take a breath. “I couldn’t make the long drive with… I just couldn’t.” You could hear those breaks again and you should have been hurting for him, that not only did he have to watch his brother die but he’d had to burn him alone. But right then you got angry and you couldn’t help snapping at him.
“Why would you burn his body, Sam? You know we need his body to bring him back!”
“Y/N, he didn’t want to be brought back.”
“You don’t know that!”
“Yeah, I do. He told me right before he died. As long as I was going to be okay,” Another break. “He was done.”
A tear rolled down your cheek and regret immediately consumed you. You knew Sam was telling you the truth. Dean making sure Sam would be okay as he was dying clinched it for you. Sam had always been his main concern. You started mentally berating yourself then. If only you hadn’t let fear stop you, you could have given him something to live for, to fight for. He would have let Sam call for help, call Jack, something. He would have made sure he somehow made it home, just like he always did. But you didn’t and now, he was gone. Truly and irrevocably gone.
Another tear slipped down your cheek and you quickly wiped it away. “I have to go, Sam.”
“Y/N, I—”
You ended the call and tossed the phone onto the bed. You weren’t trying to be heartless. Sam was obviously struggling and you should be there for him. That’s what Dean would want, you knew that. The two of you being there for each other, helping one another, you looking after his little brother while he looked out for you. But you just…couldn’t.
Why hadn’t you called Dean? After everything that went down with Chuck and Jack? Why hadn’t you reached out? You owed him that at the very least. So why hadn’t you?
You knew the answer to that. You were scared and like a coward, you’d told yourself it wouldn’t have made a difference. It wouldn’t have changed anything. But a part of you knew it would and that scared you just as much.
You thought back to the last time you’d seen him, right after he and Sam went to try to get Amara on board against Chuck. He was still reeling with the news that Cas had told him before he’d left, that Jack was going to sacrifice himself to kill Chuck. He cared about Jack, more than he let on, even though the kid had accidentally killed Mary. Jack was family to him and he was having a serious moment of doubt. If Jack’s plan would work; if he should let it happen; if he should tell Sam; if Chuck hadn’t been right, he would win in the end. He was so beyond tired of that: Chuck winning. He didn’t want to sacrifice Jack but if they could be free of Chuck and have a chance…
He was torn up about it and he’d called you, asked you where you were, then begged you to come to the Bunker when he found out you were only an hour or so away. You hadn’t wanted to, you could hear the desperation in his voice and you knew all too well what would happen if you went. You were still hurting and you didn’t know if you could survive that.
You didn’t bother telling him that the reason you were an hour outside of town was because you’d temporarily settled there, not sure where to go or what to do. Sure, you took on hunts here and there, but ultimately you were lost. Ever since Dean broke things off with you because he couldn’t tell what was real anymore versus what had been Chuck all along. The breakup had hurt, of course, but that caused pain in you that you weren’t really sure you would ever come back from. Him thinking everything between you might not be real? After you’d given him everything you could because you deeply loved him? In your heart, you knew it was real, but when you had said this to him, he’d simply responded with “I don’t” in his typical detached way he adopted whenever he had made up his mind that he had to do something for the greater good, no matter how hard it might be. You thought he had already broken your heart, but it shattered right then in your chest.
Since it was Dean, though, and he never begged, you went. And sure enough, what you worried would happen, happened. One minute, you’d been wiping the rare tears he let fall around you, and the next minute, he was kissing you and gently pushing you back onto his bed. You could feel the desperation in his movements, his touches, the way his lips trailed over your skin. Shockingly, he took his time with you, and it only hit you halfway through that this was his real goodbye. It wasn’t guaranteed that Billie’s plan would work but he hoped it would. And if it did, then that meant he and Sam would finally be free and they could hang it up if they wanted to, do something else with their lives and move on. And that possible future didn’t include you.
You’d silently cried then, holding onto Dean as he moved and moaned into your ear. When he pulled back to kiss you, your cheeks were free of any tear tracks and you kissed him back. You wondered how on earth he couldn’t feel that this was very real between you as you moved your hips to meet his in a tender rhythm as he held you in his lap, his green eyes staring into yours as he held you close. Sex was sex but this right here, this right in between you right then that he refused to put a name to, it was beyond real. You knew he could feel it just as much as you could…so why was he still hellbent on throwing it (and you) away?
A little while later, you had laid there, with his head on your chest, running your fingers through his hair in soothing strokes, his body still entangled with yours, staring up at the ceiling as you both were still trying to catch your breath. Your heart spoke for you before you could stop it. “I love you,” you whispered, meaning it with every fiber of your being.
It shocked the hell out of you and made something warm and fluttery happen inside your chest when he sleepily murmured to your skin, “Love y’too. Don’go.” You ended up chalking it up to him being in a post-sex sleep daze though, not knowing what he was really saying or even really having heard you correctly. That or he only meant for the night because the very next morning, things went back to how they were.
Dean seemed surprised when he woke up to find you next to him, scrolling through the news feed on your phone for any new cases. You’d given him a warm smile. “Hey, sleepyhead,” you teased.
Instead of smiling back, though, he cleared his throat and ran a hand through his hair. “Hey.” You could see that familiar detached expression settle on his features and you knew he was regretting the night before. He had been drinking by the time you got there, sure, but he hadn’t been inebriated. He was incredibly lucid by the time he made a move on you so try as he might, this couldn’t be chalked up to a drunken mistake.
You could literally feel that wall going back up and you gave one last ditch effort to keep him from shutting you back out, even laying a hand over his. “Dean, don’t—”
He pulled away from you and got out of bed, quickly slipping on his Scooby Doo boxers and jeans that he grabbed from the floor. You might have smiled seeing the familiar underwear that you hated but secretly loved if you weren’t hurting so much. “I’m hungry. You hungry?” He asked, slipping a black t-shirt over his head. “I’ll go see if Sam’s cooking anything up. I need a serious cup of coffee. You just…” He glanced back at you, seeing you holding the sheet tightly to your chest as you watched him, compulsively swallowing when he saw your eyes glistening. “You, uh, just come out when you’re ready.” He then made his way out of the room, closing the door behind him and never looking back.
You sat back against the headboard, dissolving into a fit of tears and quiet sobs. You knew you should have never come. Once you were able to breathe without fresh tears welling up, you got yourself cleaned up and redressed. You splashed some water on your face and you took a deep breath before leaving the room. You were near the bunker stairs when Sam called out to you.
“Hey! Y/N!”
He was coming over to you, a big smile on his face. He was pleased to see you.
“Hey,” you greeted back just as warmly, forcing a smile.
He gave you a quick hug and you could see Jack a little ways behind him, giving you a smile and wave. “I didn’t know you were here. We were just about to have breakfast. Why don’t you join us?”
“Oh, I…”
You were saved from having to make an excuse when Dean appeared next to Jack, his expression severe and cold all at the same time. “She’s got a hunt she’s heading out for. Possible vamp nest in Duluth. Right, Y/N?”
Just when you thought he couldn’t hurt you even more, there he went proving you wrong. “Right,” you agreed quietly. You turned a wan smile onto Sam. “I’ll take a raincheck.”
“Duluth?” Sam glanced from his brother to you. “Maybe we can give you a hand on this one.”
“We can’t,” Dean stated firmly. He gave his brother a look and Sam’s brows furrowed before realization played upon his features and his jaw tightened. He turned apologetic hazel eyes onto you. “Donna’s up that way. If she needs a hand, she can call her,” Dean added.
You felt sick to your stomach. Obviously, you weren’t heading to Duluth or anywhere near Minnesota but the way he dismissed you so casually…the pain was overwhelming. The smile you kept on Sam turned into more of a grimace. “I appreciate the offer, Sam, but I’m good. Like your brother said, I can call Donna if I need anything. Don’t worry. Thanks, though.” You squeezed his arm and then turned to make your way up the stairs.
“Best of luck,” Dean gruffed out. You turned to see pure ice staring back at you.
You pressed your lips together to keep from falling apart right there, from demanding why Dean had obviously only called you for sex and a pick-me-up when there plenty of women in Lebanon that could do that for him, from begging him to wake up and see you were right in front of him and that what you had was very much real before it was too late. Instead, you continued climbing the stairs.
“Keep us updated and give us a call if you need anything,” Sam called after you.
“Will do,” you forced out.
“Good luck,” Jack offered.
When you reached the top, you glanced once more at Dean. His expression hadn’t changed one bit. The green gaze staring back at you was cold, hard. You let out a huff and shook your head, turning to open the door and close it behind you. That had been the very last time you saw him.
After that, you went back to the motel you had been renting a room in, packed up, and headed across state lines. You ignored Dean’s calls but took Sam’s.
Apparently, at some point, you had vanished when Chuck disappeared everyone. You had no idea until Donna filled you in. That explained the several missed calls from both Sam and Dean and the voicemails they left. Both had sounded desperate, especially Dean.
“Please, Y/N. I know you’re pissed at me and I get it but please call me back. Or call Sam. I don’t care. Just as long as we know you’re still with us and that you’re okay.” His tone sounded rough around the edges but considering the context Sam gave you when you did call him (there was no way you were calling Dean, especially not now), you realized they were just desperate to get in touch with anyone, having lost Cas and being the only three forms of life left on the planet.
Dean was right, you were angry. Angry that he’d used you that night, angry that he’d broken your heart in the first place. He had pursued you before you got together, not the other way around. By the time you let your guard down enough to let him in and things kicked off between you, he was deep in. Or so he’d said. By the time he ended things, you were deep in yourself. Now…now you were in even deeper thanks to him, so deep you were pretty sure Dean would haunt you the rest of your life no matter how you tried to shut him out of your heart.
Another tear rolled down your cheek. Though, you’d never meant the word haunt literally.
You wiped your face with your sleeve and let out an aggravated breath before getting to your feet. You grabbed your coat, your emergency bag, your hunting bag, and the car keys from the table near the door. You locked up and got into the car you only used for hunts and grocery trips now, starting it and backing out of the driveway.
It’s not that you doubted what Sam had told you or Sam himself, but you needed to see things for yourself. You turned the car in the direction that would lead you to Kansas.
Tumblr media
You opened the door to the Bunker, seeing nothing but darkness greeting you, the clanking of the door being the only sound to echo in the large chamber. That was strange. They never shut it down when they left for hunts. You hit the lights and hearing a loud thrumming sound, you watched as they came back on, one by one. You had your own key since you were also a Legacy. You’d never been more thankful for that fact when you arrived to find the Bunker locked down, no Sam in sight.
You shut the door behind you and dropped your bags near the table. You bit your lip to keep your eyes from welling up when you noticed an unfinished chess game on the table, most likely one that Dean and Cas had been engaged in, but now neither of them would be back to complete it. Instead, you focused on the matter at hand. You pulled your gun out and an angel blade, slipping the latter into your coat pocket in case you needed it. In the other pocket, you slipped a flask of holy water and a small piece of iron bar you could wield if need be. In your gun sat silver bullets; you couldn’t be too careful nowadays. Especially if the word was out to the world of the supernatural that Dean Winchester was gone and only Sam was left now, alone.
You slowly made your way down the stairs, listening intently for any other noises you might hear. All that you could make out besides your footsteps was the low hum of electricity that was commonplace for the old bunker. You cleared the library, the hallways, the kitchen, the shower room, the infirmary, the Dean Cave where you’d been forced to watch The Lost Boys and slasher films more times than you cared to count (you had dug your teeth into your bottom lip to keep from crying when you saw the DVD cover of Tombstone left near the TV), every single room in the place until you came to the one that made a lump form in your throat. You swallowed it back down and forced yourself to focus, raising your gun that much higher. You opened the door and hit the lights, scanning every which way. The room was clear.
You lowered your gun and made your way inside, the lump in your throat back again. Your eyes roamed over the hastily made bed; the empty dog bowls on the floor (which made your brows furrow in confusion slightly); the messy desk; the empty beer bottles on the table; the headphones on the nightstand; the shotguns on the wall; the books scattered about; the load of laundry sitting off to the right in a corner. Memories washed over you and your eyes began to sting as tears welled up.
You’d walked into the room to find Dean jamming out on his bed, listening to music through the headphones he’d insisted on buying on your last trip. You huffed out a laugh and dropped the laundry basket of folded clothes onto the bed, garnering his attention.
He opened his eyes and glanced up to find you smiling at him.
“What are you listening to?”
He held one of the phones away from his ear and you could hear some serious strumming of heavy metal guitar coming out of it. “Huh?”
“I said, what are you listening to?” You asked a little louder.
“What?” He nearly yelled.
You picked up the top item from your pile, his Scooby Doo underthings, and playfully tossed it at him. It landed squarely on his chest and he immediately jumped up as if it had burned him, his cheeks turning redder by the second as he threw the headphones onto the bed.
“You did my laundry?” He asked in horror.
Amazing. You two had explored every single inch of each other time and time again, been sort of rooming together for the past month, but he was embarrassed that you washed his dirty underwear?
You shrugged and began to place his folded clothes on the bed. “I had room in the washer so I figured I’d grab yours, too. You’re welcome.”
“You washed our clothes together?” He sounded genuinely surprised.
You gasped and gave him a mock look of horror. “Oh no, not together.” You tossed a pair of jeans over at him and he caught it in time. “I used detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets, and everything,” you teased. “But putting it away is where I draw the line, pal. That’s on you.” You pointed to the neat pile sitting on the bed before moving over to the door to head to the room you kept your things in down the hall.
Arms wrapped around you from behind, stopping your trek, and Dean murmured into your ear, “You washed my clothes for me?”
“And folded, too,” you pointed out. “Don’t forget that.”
“Mmm, what else can I get you to do for me?” He grabbed the basket from you and placed it down before gripping your hips and moving in to kiss your neck.
“Hey, I’m not your maid. I had room in the washer, that was it. Don’t get used to this,” you laughed before digging your teeth into your lip when you felt his tongue on a particular part of your skin.
“What if I want to get used to this?” He moved up to your jaw line.
“I’d say you’re SOL. Unless…”
“Unless?” He hummed near your lips.
“Unless you finally let me tidy up this room a little.”
His head shot up, frowning down at you. “What? Why, what’s wrong with how it is now?”
“Well,” You wrapped your arms around his neck. “Some of these papers on the desk need organizing, the books can be put in a stack on the table over there, these empty beer bottles can be thrown out, the shotguns you have near the bed can be put away…”
“There’s nothing wrong with anything you just mentioned,” he grumbled.
“Oh, really? So the other night when you were doing that thing—”
“That thing you really like,” he interrupted, smirking cockily at you.
You had to keep from rolling your eyes and smirking yourself. “When I moved, I knocked into the shotgun and it fell. It almost went off. You remember that?”
“Nothing happened or went off, well, except you.” His smirk got even bigger. “You remember that?”
This time you gently swatted at his shoulder. “Dean.”
He heard the warning in your no-nonsense tone and laughed, leaning in to kiss you. “Alright,” he whispered to your lips. “I’ll put the shotguns up out of the way. But everything else stays.”
You huffed out an exasperated breath. One of these days when he wasn’t looking, you swore you’d do as exactly as you’d suggested. Clear out the empty bottles and stack the books at the very least.
“Hey, it’s all about compromise, right? Speaking of that,” He turned you around in his arms and you were once again facing the laundry basket he’d left on the floor. “Find a space and keep some of ‘em in here.”
A pleasant shock ran through you. “Are you sure?” You whispered.
He slowly turned you back around and gently cupped your chin. “Yeah, sweetheart, I’m sure. You’re practically sleeping in here every night, anyway. I’d rather you not have to put back on the same clothes from the night before or walk naked down to your room. Then again, naked…”
You glared up at him, making him chuckle and brush his lips against yours. “I just didn’t want to crowd you,” you admitted after a moment. “It’s your space. If I’m in here too much, I can—”
“I want you here.” You gazed into his green eyes, unsure, but all you saw staring back at you was softness with a glint of earnestness. He was telling you the truth; he really wanted you to stay.
“Okay,” you agreed with a shy smile.
He beamed at you and then picked you up, making you gasp loudly and wrap your legs around his waist. “Not that you’re gonna be needing them right now.”
You shook your head and kissed him as he walked you both towards the bed. When he had you on it, you could hear the music coming from the forgotten headphones. “Is that…Whitesnake?”
Dean smirked down at you. “Uh huh. One sec.” He reached over, quickly clicked something on his phone, and the music suddenly changed. You smiled when a familiar song started up.
“Really?”
“What? It’s our song.”
You framed his face with your hands, looking up at him affectionately. “Dean Winchester, secretly sentimental and sensitive guy extraordinaire,” you teased him.
“Shut up,” he mumbled. “I’m not any of that crap. It’s the first song we made good use of Baby’s backseat to, that’s all. Now that you’re staying in here, we gotta celebrate.”
Romantic. You rolled your eyes but smiled. “Like I said, sentimental.” You pulled him down to you and kissed him sweetly. Needless to say, he had been right; you hadn’t needed your clothes for a little while.
You took in a ragged breath, your fingers gently touching over the papers on his desk. While you hated the empty beer bottles and you didn’t want to end up possibly shot with a salt round during a passionate moment of sex, you really hadn’t minded how he had things. You knew this was the first home he and Sam ever really had. He could keep things messy or disorganized if he wanted to; he had more than earned the right. It might sound silly to someone else but he deserved to experience living in a home, mess and all, like everyone did at some point in their lives. Not only did he not have a place to do that since he’d been four years old, he’d never felt comfortably settled in anywhere ever to be able to do it. You remembered him and Sam telling you how long it had taken Dean to settle into this room, to think of the Bunker as not just theirs but home. You’d kick the crap out of anyone who tried to take that away from him, and you would be the last person to try to do it yourself. You still thanked him when he hung the shotguns up on the wall; you were beyond grateful. That time, he was the one who went off and quite happily.
A sob nearly tore its way out of your chest when you saw his handwriting on one of the papers. Your fingertips traced each letter. How could he really be gone?
You ran your fingers over an open file, wondering what he had been looking at, when you heard the clicking of nails on the floor behind you. You spun, lifting your gun, to find Sam standing in the doorway, watching you with wide eyes as a dog appeared beside him. That must have been what you’d heard. You lowered the gun and let out a relieved breath. “What are you doing here?”
You winced internally at your question. He had every right to be here, this was his home. You were the intruder.
“The monitoring system we set up… I was alerted that someone was in the Bunker. I locked it down and I know only he and I had the keys, so I didn’t know if…” You watched as he compulsively swallowed.
You turned back to the desk. “I get that. Where were you, by the way? Why did you lock it down?” He didn’t answer for a moment when you glanced over your shoulder at him, seeing his gaze glued to the ground. “Sam?”
His eyes flicked up to yours and he swallowed again. “I was on my way to Austin. For a case. But then…” He gestured towards you. “I turned around and headed back to see.” You noticed he didn’t mention why he had locked the Bunker down but then again, he didn’t really need to. Who else would be coming here now that Dean, Cas, and Jack were gone? Mary was gone as well as most of the other hunters you’d worked with over the past couple of years. Apocalypse World Bobby was still up in Minnesota somewhere. Apocalypse World Charlie and Stevie had moved East, choosing to retire after what happened with Chuck temporarily disappearing everyone. Garth and Bess still lived in their home with their family. Jody and the girls had their own operation up in Sioux Falls with Donna lending a hand every now and then. And you…well, you never told Sam where you were.
You gave him a slow nod and dropped your eyes back down to the desk, running your fingers over the pages of an open lore book Dean had been reading. It was probably ridiculous but you thought maybe you could somehow still feel him here (though you did not want him to be a ghost), that perhaps by touch or sight or smell even that you could somehow connect to what his last days had been like. You wondered if he somehow knew deep down or if he hadn’t seen it coming. Even though he had always told you that he didn’t see a good ending for himself down the road, that he was forever bound to this life, you knew he also secretly fantasized about his life going in a different direction, one he’d included you in once upon a time. You then wondered if there was a girl somewhere who was either waiting for a phone call she would never get or was crying her eyes out because Sam had given her the news like he had you. It hurt to think that maybe he had found someone that he envisioned another future with instead of you, with someone he knew without a shadow of a doubt that Chuck hadn’t inserted into his life as a manipulation or a story device. Someone that he didn’t question what he had with them, if it was real. Though at the same time, you hoped he found a little piece of happiness. You still loved him enough to want that for him.
You briefly closed your eyes in pain when you remembered that last night you spent with him, telling him you loved him. You truly meant it and even though he hurt you again and again, you still did. You forced the thought away and instead chose to focus on the open book in front of you. “What was he working on?” You choked out, quietly clearing your throat once you heard how rough your voice sounded.
You turned the page, seeing mentions of witches and vampires, when you realized Sam never answered you. You glanced back at him, arching your brows in question.
Sam’s eyes were wide and laser focused on your body, his mouth hanging open. Shit.
You should’ve known that despite the dark clothing you were wearing, the long black coat you were sporting, turning away from him, that you wouldn’t be able to hide your secret much longer. Truthfully, it wasn’t even something you’d thought about when you set out for the bunker. Had Sam been here when you arrived, he probably would have seen it then.
You turned towards the younger Winchester and Sam’s eyes flickered up to you. “Are you…?”
“Yes, Sam.”
Sam closed his mouth and swallowed, glancing back and forth between you and your protruding belly. You read the clear question in his eyes that he was burning to ask.
“You’re going to be an uncle.”
Except the few times he’d been close to death, you’d never seen Sam look so pale.
Tumblr media
You and Sam sat on the edge of Dean’s bed, Miracle (as you’d come to find out was the dog’s name) laid at your feet, his head on his paws.
“How?” Sam finally asked you.
You snorted in amusement. “You know how.”
“No, I mean… Why didn’t you tell Dean? Did you tell Dean? Because he didn’t tell me and I don’t think that’s something he wouldn’t have told me.”
You wet your lips with your tongue, feeling the heavy weight of guilt and sadness wrap around you once more. “No. I didn’t tell him,” you whispered. It was now the biggest regret of your life, right before the second biggest one of you walking out of the bunker the morning you’d last seen him and not fighting harder to get him to let you back in.
“Were you ever going to?”
Your eyes snapped to Sam at the judgment clear as day in his tone and they narrowed. “No, I wasn’t. He made it pretty clear he wanted nothing more to do with me or anything related to me. So, no, Sam, I wasn’t,” you snapped.
He pressed his lips into a thin line and looked down at his lap.
You turned your gaze forward again, taking a breath to tamp down the familiar anger and resentment that you’d worked so hard to try to let go of. After a moment, you rubbed at your forehead. “Yes,” you muttered. “I don’t know. I think so…”
Sam stayed quiet and let you sort through your thoughts which you were grateful for. You’d been caught completely off guard by the pregnancy yourself. When you found out, you thought back to how you unwisely didn’t take your usual precautions and since you and Dean had broken up long before that, you hadn’t been too concerned with maintaining your birth control.
You’d thought over your options. Bringing a kid into the hunting lifestyle was the worst thing you could do to it. Dean and Sam were living proof. Their mom herself had known it which was why she tried to get out when she married their dad. Not to mention, it would make you vulnerable in your line of work and the kid would always be in danger, always have a target on its back. Plus, you were pretty sure that even if you told Dean, he’d be less than thrilled. He always told you he didn’t want kids, for the very reasons you were now facing. And did you really want to bring a kid into the world that Chuck was about to end, only to have a father who was dismissive of it, or even hated it? You didn’t think Dean would be capable, he’d been great with Jack and Ben after all, but this was different. This kid would have his blood, his genes, would look like him somewhat. Sure, he had that in Emma once and that had torn him up, but this would also be different. This was for the long haul. And that’s only if he even wanted to be in this kid’s life. Which he might opt not to. How could you do that to your child? So you considered choosing to end the pregnancy, which would have been a true mercy given everything stacked against it before it would be born, but eventually you decided otherwise.
You’d heard the baby’s heartbeat on a checkup while you were still mulling it over, and that was it. Dean wanted to know if what you had was real or not? Here it was, its little heart thumping away deep within your body. After that visit, you’d decided the hell with it. You were someone who believed everything happened for a reason, well before things with Chuck went bad though you still operated on this age-old belief most of the time. You were having a kid, one who would be half of you and half of Dean, the love of your life for all intents and purposes. Though it had hurt when he dismissed you that morning, perhaps this had been the reason why he called you out of the blue, wanting you to come to him, and why you went despite knowing what would most likely happen and how much pain it would cause you.
So you made a decision to start pulling out of hunting. Donna rented her family cabin in Hibbing to you. Bobby hadn’t been back since Mary died so it was sitting empty and unused. You hid the pregnancy as best you could but ultimately, once the first trimester was over and you had popped, you couldn’t hide it anymore. Donna found out though she never knew who the father was. She didn’t pry which you appreciated. When she called you to warn you that Billie was making people disappear left and right, a familiar fear clawed at your chest. Not only fear for your child but also the fear of what if Dean found out about it. That was the only thing that kept you from offering to come down to Kansas to help.
“We’re going into some place warded to protect us. You should do the same. I can send you pictures of the sigils they’re using.”
“Okay, thanks. Are you sure you’re going to be alright?”
“Yeah, don’t you worry. We’ll figure this out. You just stay safe in the cabin. You and…well, you know.”
You appreciated her staying discreet when you heard Sam’s voice in the background. “I will. Thanks, D.”
“You betcha. Talk soon.”
You hung up and Donna did indeed send you the pictures. You did your best with what you had but it didn’t matter in the end. The last thing you remembered was painting a sigil on the window and then everything went black. The next thing you knew, you were back at the window, your finger extended towards the glass, the half-finished sigil staring back at you. You noticed the sun was in a different position in the sky than it had been and you immediately grabbed your cell phone. Two days had passed. How?
It hit you then what happened and you dropped the phone with a cry, immediately grabbing at your stomach. You ran for the machine Jody had shipped to you after Donna told her. At the time you’d been annoyed, but right now, you couldn’t be happier at the sheriff knowing about your pregnancy once your baby’s heartbeat echoed throughout the bedroom. You let out a huge sigh of relief, rubbing your belly affectionately. “We had quite a scare there, didn’t we, kiddo?”
It dawned on you then that while you had vanished, you were back, baby and all. Did that mean everyone else was back, too? You went back downstairs for your cell phone and immediately called Donna. Yep, everyone was back, they had all disappeared, and it wasn’t Billie but Chuck who had done it. You asked after Dean and Sam and that was when she told you about Cas and then Jack. You knew both brothers would be devastated, especially Dean, and you considered breaking your radio silence to call him. However, you chickened out at the last second and called Sam instead to check in.
It’s not that a part of you didn’t want to tell Dean he was going to be a father, it was that you were scared of what would happen when you did. Originally, you had feared that he would turn his back on you completely, more importantly on his kid, but now you were worried that maybe it would be the exact opposite. While you would be happy for him to be actively involved in your child’s life as its dad, you also knew Dean. He would try to resume things between you, make it work for the kid’s sake. Just look at how long he tried to make it work with Lisa for Ben’s sake. Not that he didn’t love her and he ended up leaving to protect them, but even Lisa knew his heart wasn’t in it. While that had been for different reasons involving hunting and Sam’s reappearance in his life, he still tried to make it work. But as he’d told you, the family thing didn’t work for him, and besides he already had a family with Sam, Cas, and Jack. You hadn’t missed how he didn’t include you in that group; you supposed you should’ve known then.
You didn’t want him to fake wanting to be with you just to give your kid some semblance of a family life that Dean himself hadn’t really had. You didn’t know if you could take him forcing himself to kiss you goodnight before turning his back on you every single night. Or forcing a smile when he’d come home after a long day and you were the first thing he saw when he stepped inside. It was a ridiculous fear to have, you knew that, and you should be stronger than this — you were stronger than this. Not to mention, you knew you were being selfish and not at all fair to your baby or Dean. But the images kept replaying over and over in your mind, making you flinch, and you told yourself you’d tell him the next day. The next day turned into next week, then the next month. Before you knew it, you were in your third trimester and you were getting a call from his younger brother to inform you of his untimely death.
Maybe that’s really why you raced down here from Hibbing. Maybe that’s why you wanted to see for yourself that he was gone. Not only to confirm that the man who had your heart was gone for good, but also so you could tell him, hoping he might hear it wherever he now was. Or maybe by some act of mercy Jack could relay it to him, wherever Jack was. It was cowardly, you were a coward, and you hated yourself for it. You knew you should have told Dean months ago, after you found out that he and Sam had beaten Chuck, Jack was in charge of the universe now, and the world was not coming to an end anytime soon. Regardless, you couldn’t turn back the clock.
A tear escaped that you quickly wiped away, not caring if Sam saw or not. “You know, when you first told me about Dean, I considered a demon deal.”
Sam’s head snapped up. “No! That’s not what he would want! No!”
You held out a placating hand. “I know. I’m not going to do that.” He seemed to deflate slightly in relief. “I can’t, anyway.” You motioned to your bulging stomach. “I couldn’t do that to my kid. Only be around for 10 years and then poof, I’m gone? Even if it had Dean, if Dean wanted it that is, it’s still terrible to do that to a kid.” You winced slightly when you realized you were saying this to Sam Winchester of all people.
“Dean would’ve wanted it,” he assured you quietly.
You grimaced and dropped your gaze down to the dog who was staring up at you. “Maybe.” You reached down to pet his head.
Sam placed a gentle hand on your shoulder. “He would’ve.”
You stayed quiet for a moment, thinking over his words, when you murmured, “Is there any way to get him back?”
Sam let you go and his hazel eyes began to shimmer. “No,” he choked out. “I, uh, checked with Jack and he said it was his time. So…no.”
“What?” You snapped, getting to your feet. “After everything you’ve done for that kid? He just—”
Sam got to his feet, tenderly cradling your shoulders. “I know. I didn’t want to hear it either but…Jack’s right.” Your jaw dropped, ready to let some f-bombs fly (which you usually tried to avoid since the baby could now hear you), when Sam’s hands moved up to your face, trying to get you to listen. “He was ready to go. Jack confirmed it. Dean’s in Heaven and he’s at peace.”
Tears were on the edge of falling when you heard that. “He’s in Heaven?”
Sam nodded, a tear making its way down his cheek. “Yeah. He is.”
If Dean was in Heaven…well, then that was some consolation at least. Just when he thought he’d never make it there thanks to his being a demon for a short stint, being killed by a Hell Hound, and everything that had occurred over the years — even some of the things he’d done. But that also meant he was gone, for good this time. It was confirmed; he wasn’t coming back. It hit you like a freight train and it punched a huge hole in your chest. You felt as if you were falling, falling, and would never stop. Dean was…gone. “Then he’s…”
“He’s gone,” Sam confirmed. “He’s not coming back.”
Your knees buckled and you nearly fell, Sam thankfully having caught you. You heard a wailing sound but you had no idea where it was coming from until you felt it ripping its way out of your body. Sam gingerly picked you up in his arms and moved you onto the bed. You were violently sobbing and you barely noticed Sam holding you, gently rocking you back and forth, his own tears falling into your hair. Miracle had jumped up and laid next to you, whining quietly and trying to shove his head under your hands, rubbing his body carefully against your belly.
There was no way. No way that this was real. This had to be a nightmare. But when you heard Sam sniffle above you, choking out, “It’s going to be okay, Y/N. I promise, it’s going to be okay,” you knew that it wasn’t. Memories of Dean’s face, his laugh, his smiles, his touch, his scent, the way he looked at you when you’d both been happy together, his kisses, the way he felt like home in a way that no other person or place ever could, the way he made you feel safe — all of it smashed over you like a tidal wave and it didn’t let up. Dean Winchester, the man you’d loved with all of your heart, the man whose child you now carried inside of you, was gone. And there was nothing you could do to bring him back.
Tumblr media
Dean had just pulled the Impala over at a beautiful spot, where you could see nature’s beauty for miles. He rested back against Baby and marveled at it all. There was even a double rainbow that showed up and Dean chuckled, knowing that had to be Jack’s doing considering there hadn’t been any rain. Then he wondered if it did rain at all. How did things like that work up here anyhow?
He was still enjoying the view when Jack popped in next to him.
“There he is.” Dean grinned and went to give him a hug before he thought better of it. “Am I still allowed to…you know?”
Jack smiled. “Of course. I like hugs.”
Dean laughed and embraced him tightly. “Thanks, kid. For everything you did up here, I mean. Bobby told me.” He pulled back, clapping his shoulder in thanks. “So, where’s Cas?”
“He’ll be along shortly but first, I need to show you something.”
Dean’s brows furrowed but he shrugged. “Okay.”
Jack placed a hand on Dean’s shoulder and next thing Dean knew, he was back in his old room at the Bunker. “Whoa,” he whispered, thinking Jack and Cas had built the Bunker just for him. He would be able to wait for Sam here, in his home. He hoped the TV in the Dean Cave worked and that he still had access to his music. Baby’s radio had worked so he had high hopes. He was about to thank Jack when his eyes suddenly caught sight of someone in his bed. Well, two someones.
He glanced towards Jack who gave him a subtle nod, silently encouraging him to get closer. Dean shot him a confused look but did move closer. When he caught sight of you, his heart dropped into his stomach. Even being dead, he felt the same exact thing he felt the last time he had seen you. You were the one who got away, or more appropriately, the one he pushed away.
Sure, he’d been confused when he found out everything in his life was a lie when Chuck revealed himself to be a giant dick, but he did love you. He had such trouble reconciling the two: what he knew to be true and what his mind was telling him. No other romantic relationship had worked out for him, all two of them prior to you, and now he knew why. Chuck liked him better on his own, being the guy with no strings attached and rolling through town to save the girl, kill the monsters, get thanked, and move on his way. The only other person Chuck liked having in the Impala regularly was Sam. You, well, you he hadn’t seen coming and after the Big Bad Chuck reveal, he had to wonder why.
He had never meant to hurt you, though he couldn’t seem to stop from doing it. If things weren’t real between you all of this time, he didn’t want to keep pretending like they were. That wasn’t fair to either of you and he certainly didn’t want to continue stringing you along when his heart was no longer in it like it used to be. So he let you go, as painful as it was and as wrong as it felt, he did the right thing by you. Then that night he’d called you out of the blue, he’d been torn up about Cas’ revelations about Jack’s actual role in Billie’s plan, how badly he wanted Chuck gone, and how while he didn’t want to sacrifice the kid, he wanted his and Sam’s freedom more. Without thinking, he’d picked up the phone and dialed you. He shocked himself when he asked you to come over after hearing you weren’t that far away, and you shocked him even more when you agreed.
Dean hadn’t planned for you two to be intimate, but once you were there, right in front of him, it hit him hard how much he missed you, missed what you had together. So he made a move and you let him. He’d put everything he had, everything he felt but couldn’t tell you, into this stolen moment in time between you. And then the next morning, he thought it had all been a dream until he turned his head and saw you laying there, hair adorably disheveled, sheet covering you, doing something on your phone. It briefly reminded him of the many mornings he’d woken to find you in this exact same position, already up after a wild night, searching for cases. He wanted to bask in the comfort and familiarity for a moment longer, but when you turned and smiled at him, greeting him like you always had, he started kicking himself internally. He didn’t want you to think that this meant things would change when he knew they wouldn’t. He was being unfair to you and it wasn’t right. He’d been a selfish bastard and now he had to go into dick mode which would hurt you again. And sure enough, he knew he did when he saw your face fall as he easily dismissed you, not once but twice. He winced at the memory; he certainly didn’t blame you for not taking his calls or returning his voicemails after that.
The truth was that while he had initially been confused about his feelings for you and their validity, he knew he cared deeply about you and the most important thing was keeping you safe. He didn’t want you involved in the Chuck showdown, which is why he rudely dismissed you that morning, making up an excuse of a case in Duluth, something he knew you’d go along with. After watching you leave, as the door closed behind you, his heart fell into his stomach and he felt about three inches tall. He hated hurting you, hated pushing you away, but he knew it was for the best. You needed to be safe; not a target for Chuck.
After Chuck had been defeated and Jack took over, Dean realized in those months that he’d been a grade A idiot when it came to you. Sure, he’d been a cold dick, but he also had been a complete dumbass. He still loved you and he missed the hell out of you. What you had together had been something special that he stupidly threw away. There were quite a few nights after quite a few drinks, he’d picked up his phone and hovered over your number but he never actually called it. How could he even think of asking you to forgive him and give him another chance? After everything he’d said and done? He truly was a selfish bastard.
When he didn’t call, he then switched over to all of the photos and videos he had taken of you and both of you together. As he heard your laughter, saw both of your smiles, watched how you looked at him and the affection you’d shown him, he continued drowning his sorrows. He wanted so much to talk to you, to apologize and explain, and ask if he could come see you, but he never let himself ask. He didn’t deserve it; he knew that.
Now, here you were, asleep on his bed, Miracle curled up next to you. Staring down at you, he wondered how the hell he had ever let you go. And now, he’d never get to hold you again, feel your touch, or even share a conversation with you ever again. Even though Dean was at peace with his fate, regret languished within his chest the more he studied your face. He reached out to brush some hair back over your face but sadness overwhelmed him when he realized he couldn’t even do that small simple touch. Not anymore.
Dean’s eyes narrowed when he noticed an arm curled around you, almost protectively, pinning you to another body. His gaze traveled up that arm to find his younger brother, asleep right behind you. That surprised him but he quickly put two and two together. You must have gone to the Bunker when Sam called you to tell you the news and here you were, in Dean’s room, asleep on his bed with his dog. And while he didn’t begrudge you or his little brother some comfort you both might need, he didn’t like the look of that embrace or that Sam’s face was buried into the back of your neck.
Dean glanced back down at the arm, seeing Miracle staring right up at him. He couldn’t help but smile at the canine who had been his companion for months before he died. “Hey, boy,” he whispered, not sure if he would be heard or not but not wanting to startle you if he was. “How are you?”
Miracle didn’t seem to react at first, not until he got up and moved closer, wagging his tail. Dean went to try to pet the dog, hoping he could at least touch the animal, but he never got that far. His eyes zeroed in on just what Miracle’s body had been blocking.
His wide eyes flicked up to you, to Sam, back to you, and back to your fairly large and round stomach. The hell with being heard and possibly scaring you two. He glanced back to find Jack watching him. “What the hell is going on here, Jack?”
“They’re sleeping.”
“I’m aware of that,” he growled. “But what—”
Just then, Cas popped in next to Jack. When the angel saw Dean, he offered a soft smile. Dean felt himself relax slightly and a part of him wanted to go hug the angel but another part of him was nervous to. Plus, he really wanted to know what the hell was going on. He shifted his eyes towards Jack, his jaw tightening. “What the hell are you showing me?”
Cas glanced towards the bed, realization lighting his features, before he turned to Jack as well.
“The present,” Jack simply answered.
Dean cursed under his breath, not caring that both Cas and Jack could hear him. “The present of what? Because from where I’m standing, it seems like some time has passed.” He gestured towards your stomach. He tried not to be angry with you or Sammy, he really did, but dammit, his brother knew how he felt about you! Him dying didn’t change that! Besides, Sam had something going with Eileen last he knew, whatever happened to that?
“What you’re seeing is a few days after your death.”
Surprise ran through Dean at that revelation. So, this wasn’t some screwed up future scene he was witnessing? His eyes roamed over you, coming to rest once again on your stomach. You were very pregnant, looking as if you might be ready to pop any day now, he wasn’t sure. But one thing was clear; there was no way the baby was Sam’s. Sam wouldn’t have been able to keep that secret from him that long and he just didn’t see you or Sam going behind his back like that while he was alive. You were pissed at him, maybe even hated him, but you would never do that to him. Nor would Sam. The only answer was that you had found someone else and you were starting a family with them. Now he understood your radio silence even more. You might currently be sad at the news of his death, awash in memories in his room to where you’d fallen asleep on his bed and Sam had to comfort you, but you had truly moved on. That burned him even more. While he was happy if you were happy, knowing you’d found someone who wouldn’t break your heart and would treat you better than he ever could, a part of him was saddened by this knowledge. He knew you were too good for him, that you deserved better, but to see it confirmed in such a way, well, it was heartbreaking.
“So if she’s… Then she’s…” He couldn’t even put it into words; it hurt too much.
Jack clasped Dean’s shoulder. “The child is yours, Dean.”
Dean wasn’t alive anymore but if he had been, his heart would have stopped. He turned to Jack, shocked. “What?”
“You’re going to be a father,” Jack supplied, letting him go.
“But…how?” Dean’s gaze fell on you once more.
Cas suddenly appeared on his other side. “You don’t remember how you conceived the child?”
“What? No, I just…”
“Dean,” Jack called.
When he turned to look at the new God, the latter held up a glowing finger to him that almost reminded him of that movie E.T. “What are you gonna do with that? Check my temperature?” Speaking of E.T., hadn’t that been one of the last movies picked for movie night before the Chuck showdown?
Jack smiled and touched the finger to his forehead. Within seconds, Dean was reliving every single moment between you two:
…When you’d met.
…When he decided he’d liked you while you decided you didn’t like him too much.
…His constant flirting and trying to win you over.
…Your begrudging friendship that then grew into something more.
…Your relationship.
…Your breakup.
…All of the times you’d been in pain because of him.
…That last night.
…The next morning.
Then the memories shifted to yours from after that morning:
…You finding out about the pregnancy a couple of months later.
…Your hemming and hawing over calling him to tell him.
…Your fears.
…When you’d vanished with everyone else.
…Your panic upon your reappearance.
…The time you spent getting ready to retire from hunting and set up a normal life in Hibbing while preparing for the baby.
…The call from Sam with the news of his death.
…Your regret at not telling him about his child and your drive down here.
…Your conversation with Sam.
…Your collapsing in grief at finally realizing that he was gone and not coming back.
All of it that led to the scene he was witnessing now. He felt everything you felt, heard every thought, saw every tear, every smile.
By the time Jack pulled away, Dean’s eyes were wet. He wasn’t sure how he was able to produce tears as a dead man but he did. Not only did he feel how deeply he’d hurt you, but he also felt just how deeply you loved him. He already knew he’d been an idiot when it came to you, but he really had no clue before this just how incredibly stupid he’d been. It had always been real between you. That hadn’t been Chuck. Not by a long shot.
Dean discreetly wiped his eyes. “Send me back.” His tone was firm and he wasn’t really asking.
“I’m sorry, Dean, but your time on Earth is up.”
Dean turned a menacing glare onto Jack. New God or not, he didn’t care. “She’s having my kid and she needs me. They both need me. Sam, too. After everything I’ve done for this world, you owe me.” Jack stared him down, unbothered by the taller man’s attempt to make demands. “Now I appreciate the Fixer Upper: Heaven Edition, I really do, but I should be with them. I deserve a shot at this and you know it.”
Jack mused on that for a moment before staring up at Dean sadly. “I’m afraid it doesn’t work like that.”
Dean scoffed. “Then why bother showing me any of this? Why bother telling me that it’s my kid she’s about to have? What’s the point, dammit?”
“You were afraid that you had left nothing behind of value, except Sam and your beloved car. Afraid that your life hadn’t amounted to anything in the end. No matter how many people you saved, no matter how many connections you made, no matter what good you did. ” Jack gestured towards you. “It did amount to something. You are leaving behind something, something important. A legacy,” Jack gestured to your stomach. “A family,” he waved his hand over you and Sam.
Dean’s jaw clenched and he ignored the stinging in the corner of his eyes. “So this was just to show me what I can never have. The girl, the kid, the life…that’s just aces,” he muttered.
“No, Dean,” Cas spoke up. “What Jack is trying to explain is—”
“--your life amounted to more than you thought it had,” Jack finished.
Dean watched as Miracle went back and curled up against your belly once more, his head on his paws as he watched the scene in front of him. The corner of Dean’s lips tipped up into a smile. It was almost as if the dog knew it was his kid in there. And he was determined to protect it in Dean’s absence. His smile faded though when he thought of how he wouldn’t be able to see his kid, at all. He’d had enough of this. “That’s great. Appreciate the pep talk, fellas. Now, if you could send me back so I can actually raise my legacy and take care of my family, that’d be much appreciated.”
Jack and Cas exchanged a glance. Dean knew he wasn’t winning this one but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t keep trying. “It’s not your time yet,” Jack answered cryptically.
Dean’s head snapped in his direction. “What the hell does that mean?”
“It means that now your time is in Heaven, not Earth. And it’s best if you return to it.” Before Jack could snap his fingers, Dean held up a hand.
“Whoa, wait! That’s it? You’re not even gonna let me stick around to see what I’m gonna have?”
Jack smiled once more. “You’re going to have a son. A strong, healthy son.”
Dean reeled from that information. “A son?” He choked out.
Jack gave him a happy nod and held his fingers up again.
“Wait, wait! I’m serious, Jack. Why can’t I stick around?”
“You know what happens to ghosts, Dean. Besides, you’ve already been admitted to Heaven.”
“But you can do something about that, right? Like bring me back?” When Jack didn’t respond, Dean became desperate. “At least let me check in on them every now and then or something! You’re telling me you can’t even do that? You’re freaking God!”
Jack’s smile faded. “You’re not an angel, Dean.”
“No,” Cas interrupted. “But I am.” Cas stretched out his wings that were a lot brighter than Dean remembered. If he wasn’t dead, he was pretty sure he would at they very least be blinded from the brightness right about now. “I can take him back when he’s ready and I can escort him on any future visits.”
Dean was shocked but also beyond grateful at Cas’ offer. While they hadn’t spoken yet about how things were left between them before The Empty took away the angel, he couldn’t imagine it would be easy for Cas to watch as he pined over someone else, as he watched his kid grow, but Dean was grateful all the same.
Jack appeared to think this over before meeting Cas’ intent gaze. “You will make sure to bring him back each time.” At Cas’ nod, Jack gave him a knowing yet affectionate smile. “I expect you to keep to the rules during these visits.”
“Of course,” Cas agreed.
Jack then glanced over at Dean. “If you’re worried about her and your child, you don’t need to be. Sam is going to watch over them.” Dean’s eyes widened slightly and his head snapped in your direction, his eyes shifting to Sam’s arm around you.
“What the hell does that mean?” He demanded.
“It means that your family is going to be safe. They’re going to stick together. Sam is going to help Y/N raise your son. He won’t allow any harm to come to them.”
His jaw tightened, thinking it should be his arm over you, him behind you, him helping you raise your kid, you two together. He should be the one to take his son fishing, teach him about girls when he got older, show him how to keep Baby going, be the father his old man had the potential to be but minus a few things. He’d do whatever it took to keep the kid out of hunting, to give him a shot at a full happy life. He’d give up hunting himself in order to make it happen. And you…if you’d take him back, he’d never leave your side. Hell, he’d marry you if you let him. After Jack had caught him up to speed on everything you went through, everything you had felt and were feeling, he’d spend the rest of his life making it up to you, letting you know every single day just how much he loved you, if only you’d let him. If only Jack would allow him to come back. It felt beyond wrong that he wasn’t there and Sam was stepping into his place. Sam shouldn’t have to; he should be able to go and build his own family with Eileen or whoever, get married, have a couple of kids, buy a house, get out of hunting and go back to school — do whatever he wanted with his life. Not this.
“Dean.”
His eyes slowly lifted to Jack’s, who was a lot closer now than he had been before. He laid a reassuring hand on the man’s shoulder. “It’s as it should be. After you died, Sam was lost. She’s going to need help when the child is born.” He stared at Dean meaningfully. “They all need this.”
Dean’s gaze briefly roamed over the three of you on the bed before landing on Jack again. He thought back to his cryptic words from before. “Will I ever meet my kid? Get to see her again? Outside of Heaven?”
Jack’s expression didn’t change nor did he say anything but he squeezed his shoulder. That was the only response Dean was going to get apparently.
Dean huffed a snort and shook his head.
“I told you, Dean. There would be no more meddling with the world from on high. I will not repeat Chuck’s mistakes. Everything is as it should be.”
Dean’s jaw clenched and he dropped his gaze. No, everything wasn’t as it should be. He made up his mind then to talk to Bobby when he got back. There had to be something he could do to get back to Earth, to get back to you and Sam and the baby…to get back to you all. If he couldn’t convince Jack to send him back, he’d find some other way.
Jack released him as Cas came to stand next to Dean. “I’ll see you back in Heaven.” He then looked at Cas. “Not too long.”
Cas gave him a nod and like that, Jack disappeared, leaving the angel and the hunter alone. Dean wasn’t thinking about how that might have set them up to talk about Cas’ last words to him before dying; right now, his focus was on you.
“Cas, please…can I touch her?”
“Dean…”
“Please,” he begged. “Just one last time. I’m not gonna get to be with her or raise my kid. I just want to touch her one last time. Please, Cas.”
Cas thought it over and then moved closer to the bed, leaning down to place two fingers against your forehead. Dean’s brows furrowed when he noticed a golden glow appear from the touch. “Whoa, whoa, Cas. What are you doing?”
“I’m giving you what you asked for. Y/N’s a light sleeper, like all of you hunters. If she wakes up, she could think she’s being attacked by a ghost or some other entity. I doubt you want that.” He pulled away and gave Dean a look.
“No,” Dean quietly agreed. Cas moved away to make room to let him in. Dean gingerly sat on the bed, about to touch you when he glanced up at the angel, unsure. Cas gave him a nod and Dean turned to gently run the backs of his fingers down your cheek. He felt your warm and soft skin this time when he came into contact with you and he let out a small breath of relief, sadness filling his chest.
“I’m so sorry, Y/N. Had I known, I would’ve…” He supposed it didn’t really matter what he would’ve done. “I should’ve been there. You shouldn’t have had to go through all this alone. I should be there with you now, ready to help you take care of the kid. I…” He tenderly moved your hair behind your ear. “I’m sorry, sweetheart. I never wanted to hurt you, but I had to keep you safe. I didn’t want you to become a target for Chuck. And I never should’ve…” He could feel a familiar stinging at the corners of his eyes and he wasn’t surprised that his voice was a bit gruffer when he next spoke. “I knew what we had was real. I know I questioned it for a second there but I always knew. That’s why it was so important to me that you were safe. But it doesn’t make what I did and said okay. And I’m sorry for that.” He ran his fingers lightly over your lips, wishing he could kiss you one last time, feeling you kissing him back. “I love you,” he whispered, a single tear falling down his cheek that he hastily wiped away. He stroked the apple of your cheek tenderly with his thumb. “And I always will.”
Not really wanting to pull away from you but knowing he was on a time clock, he reluctantly moved his fingers away from your face and laid his hand on your belly. He couldn’t feel anything except the taut skin underneath his fingertips, but it was enough to make him smile. “Being that you’re my kid, you’re probably going to give your mom a run for her money. Try not to make her too crazy, huh?” He let out a watery sounding laugh. “I’m sorry I can’t be there but your Uncle Sammy is going to make sure you and your mom are taken care of. Okay? He’s going to show you how to toss a ball around, help you with your homework, all that stuff. Just do me a favor, though. Don’t let him feed you kale the whole time and don’t let him get you into his true crime podcasts. The guy is a classic nerd, don’t let him turn you into one, too.” His smile slowly faded. “Saying all that, he’s one of the best guys I've ever known and I know he’ll be good to you, be good to your mom. So cut him some slack when you get older, alright?” He rubbed his thumb in gentle circles. “Take care of your mom for me. I’ll be watching over both of you. I hope I get to meet you someday.” Unable to resist, he leaned down and pressed a kiss to your stomach before sitting up and coming face to face with Miracle. The dog quietly whined and Dean gave him one last good head scratch. “You look out for them, okay buddy?” The dog whined again and Dean patted him.
“Dean,” Cas gently called.
Dean nodded and slowly got to his feet. His eyes shifted to Sam who was sound asleep, giving him a soft smile. “Thanks for taking care of them, Sammy,” he whispered. He didn’t vocalize that it was only temporary, that he was hell bent and determined to find a way to get back. His eyes then landed on you and he reached out to you one last time, trailing a fingertip along the dried tear tracks on your cheek. “Cas, can we just stay until they wake up?”
“Dean, Jack said—”
“I know what Jack said,” Dean snapped, glancing back at the angel whose parted lips pressed into a thin line. Dean immediately felt sorry for snapping at him; it wasn’t Cas’ fault and he wasn’t angry with him. He softened his tone. “I just want to be here when she wakes up. That’s all.” Cas seemed to be wrestling with his request. “Please, Cas,” he begged. “I just want to see her like this, awake.” He was slightly embarrassed at admitting that to his best friend but he wasn’t sure when he’d be allowed to visit again (and what he might be able to figure out to get himself back or how long it would take), and he had the strongest urge to see you up and about, walking around, pregnant with his kid. Not to mention he wanted to hear your voice one last time. “Please,” he whispered in a broken plea.
Cas stared at him for a moment before giving him a nod. “But after she wakes, we go back.”
“Thank you, Cas.” He meant it. While he highly doubted Cas would get into any real trouble on his behalf, he knew how difficult it must be for the angel to unwillingly push against Jack’s rules.  Dean turned back to you, carefully sitting down next to you, caressing your face. “Sleep, sweetheart. I’ll keep you safe,” he murmured. He also made you a silent promise: he would do whatever it took to get back to you. His eyes briefly roamed to your stomach. To get back to both of you. Fate and the universe and all that crap be damned.

•🪵🦅🍂🤎•
Summary: You grew up being bestfriends with Sam and Dean as your mother would usually help hunt with their dad, but when you find yourselves at college together things change, especially when Dean takes him back hunting
Pairing: Sam Winchester x f!reader
Warning: Pregnant
•Masterlist•
Tumblr media
Ever since I was a kid I’ve had a die hard crush on Sam, whenever our parents would hunt together they’d leave the three of us in a motel room while they worked a case, it was hard not to fall for Sam he was always so kind and treated me like gold, then eventually we started going to college together both of us were outcasted by our families for doing so, we moved in together for support as we worked in our dreams
Along the way we both confessed
“Sam I know this is your place too but I don’t want you being girls home anymore”
“Why not? Are you jealous?”
“So what if I am, I can’t bare to see you with someone else Sam can’t you see how much I love you?”
And from then on we’ve been attached at the him, any chance he got his hands were placed on me lovingly, as I finished getting ready for bed I pulled on one of his shirts and a pair of sleeping shorts, quickly going to our room and jumping in next to him as I cuddle up close
“I love you Angel” he whispered as he placed a kiss to my check squeezing me closer
“And I love you, now let’s get to bed I’ve been feeling groggy all day
He shut off the lamp and he curled around me till I was completely enveloped by him, hearing the sound of his heartbeat lull me to sleep
I woke abruptly at the sound of a crash from downstairs, Sam awake next to me hearing the same thing
We both got our weapons and slowly made our way downstairs, covering each other incase this wasn’t just a plan human invader
Out of nowhere Sam is tackled to the floor and I’m stood there frozen, having been out of the hunting game so long I was actually scared now, before I heard a familiar laugh
“Dean what the hell are you doing here?” Sam groaned as he got up and stood back next to me holding me to his chest obviously noticing my fear
“If you aren’t a sight for sore eyes, missed you around Angel” Dean smirked looking me up and down
“Dean come on”
“Fine, dads missing, he’s been gone for a while now and won’t answer any calls”
“I can’t Dean I’ve got a life here now, I’ve got school and y/n, I can’t just leave”
“She can come too” he said as if I wasn’t even here
“It’s not just dad, it’s your parents too, they went out together” I look up at Sam worried, even if they kicked us out they were still family
“Sam…….” I whisper as he squeezes my hips
“What about school Angel?”
“It’s study break we can spare the week” he sighed in agreement and nodded at Dean, we go upstairs and pack
“I don’t you going” he says
“But I can help it’s my parents too”
“I know but I don’t want to risk your life”
“But…….i don’t wanna be alone” I confessed my fears of being on my own since I’ve always had someone around especially knowing what lurks out there
“It’ll only be a week and I’ll be right back I promise” I knew I couldn’t convince him other wise
“Okay but……call me and please be safe Sam”
“Always am” he kissed me goodbye before him and Dean were gone, the familiar sound of the Chevy impala rumbling away
The week went by fast and I was so excited for him to come back, there was a weird feeling around our place and I couldn’t shake it
I pick up the phone and call hoping he’ll be on the other end saying he’s right around the corner
“Hello angel” his voice was higher than usual
“Hey everything okay? Are you coming back now?”
“About that ummm….we couldn’t find them but we got a lead we’re gonna follow it”
“But sam we’ve got school and I don’t feel right, I’m scared”
“What’s a little huntress like yourself got to be scared of” Dean chimed in
“I don’t know something doesn’t feel right, it’s been weird weather lately and I feel sick, I probably sound crazy” I felt like I was going insane
“You’re not crazy, remember last time you got the stomach flu you felt the same, maybe you just have to get some rest”
“Please don’t be gone much longer I love you Sam”
“I love you too”
He was gone a lot longer than we both thought, it’s been 4 months now and the calls got less frequent and I felt less important and soon after he left I found out the reason I was feeling sick was because I’m pregnant, I went to the doctors and they said I was about 2 months along, now I’m 6 months, and I’m a ball of stress I didn’t have the guts to tell him over the phone how could I when we barely talked and when we did it was quick just to check up before he had to go
I sat on the couch feeling like my life was flipped upside down so quick, why did Dean have to come back, sure he was great but he took the one thing I loved away, I hear a knock at the door breaking me from my thoughts
I got up my shirt too small as I only covered half my belly and my pajamas pant low on my hips, I walk over to the door and open it seeing Sam and Dean stood there with their father behind
“You’ve finally decided to come home” I sigh, of course I’m glad he’s okay but he left me for 4 months, I stepped aside as they all came in
They came in, Dean and John plopping down on the couch as Sam stood infront of me, his mouth hung open as he looked down at my round belly
“How…..when….why didn’t you tell me” he asked as his hands caressed my belly
“How could I we’ve barely talked and I can’t just spring that information on you over the phone”
“Sammy’s been having fun at college” Dean laughs then hearing John groan
“I told you I didn’t feel right” I say not being able to resist from running my hands through his hair as he pulls me into a tight hold
“I’m so sorry, I should’ve stayed, I can’t believe we’re having a baby”
“A baby girl” I whisper as I hear him gasp pulling back to look at me
“A girl…..a little girl” his voice shock and it warmed my heart
“Congrats Sammy” Dean smiled as he came over slapping him on the shoulder encouragingly, I’m sure John would come around he was just a grump
“Next time I’m coming with you, I’ll be damned if your leaving me and our baby girl”
“I wouldn’t dream of it”

The Ultimate Bet
Alastor x Dean Winchester x female!huntress reader
Summary: Your soul is on the table, and Alastor wants it, why not settle it through a game of poker?
A/N- Sorry if this suck I barely know anything about poker! Anyways enjoy!! I googled a lot of this ... HA
Tumblr media
The lounge of the hotel was dimly lit, the only light source being the overhead lamp above the poker table. The usual cheerful chatter was hushed tonight, as all eyes were on the table. Alastor sat with his perpetual grin, eyes filled with mischief, having the best poker face of them all. Opposite him sat an infamous rugged hunter, Dean Winchester, who was leaning back in his chair, his gaze steely.
You, a fearless huntress and good friend of Dean's, stood by his side, your heart racing. Your soul was on the line. Alastor wanted another soul to add to his collection, and yours interested him the most. You had encountered Alastor a few years back; this wasn't your first time in this hell. You had bumped into him at a bar, even before the hotel existed and before he disappeared for those seven years. Now, you two met again, here for a purpose.
Husker stood behind the table, dealing the cards. He dealt two cards to each player, then spread five community cards—three at once, then one more, then another—forming the basis for their best possible five-card hand. This was indeed a game of Texas Hold'em.
Alastor's smile widened as he tapped his fingers rhythmically on the table, the sound echoing through the silent room like a heartbeat. Dean, on the other hand, was focused and determined despite the weight on his shoulders. His pretty green eyes stared at the cards in his hands.
"You know," Alastor drawled, his voice dripping with amusement, "I do love a good game of chance. And this one… well, it's particularly exciting, wouldn't you say?" He broke the silence. Dean looked up through his eyelashes at the demon, then back at his cards.
As the game began, the tension grew. Even Husk was boiling with stress watching the game unfold, knowing how good a player Alastor was. Dean's mind raced as he calculated the odds, while Alastor seemed almost relaxed, his confidence unwavering.
Round after round, the chips piled up, and the stakes grew higher. Dean tried to catch the Radio Demon bluffing and calculate his next move, but there was no stress behind that smile and those red eyes. Alastor let out a laugh. Finally, when Dean was ready, he peeked at his hand, glancing at a pair of aces and a king. He watched Alastor closely, looking for any tell that might give away the demon's strategy. Alastor, still grinning, called the bet, his own cards held close to his chest.
"So, Dean," Alastor said, casually tossing a chip into the pot, "how confident are you feeling about this hand? Confident enough to risk it all?"
"Confident enough to know you're bluffing," Dean sneered.
"Ah, is that so?" Alastor questioned. The pot grew bigger with each round. Finally, it came down to the last hand. Dean looked at his cards, his face betraying nothing. Alastor's grin was as wide as ever, but there was a flicker of something darker in his eyes.
"All in," Dean said, pushing his remaining chips to the center of the table. Alastor nodded. The cards were revealed, and the room held its breath. Dean's hand was strong, but Alastor's was stronger. The Radio Demon let out a triumphant laugh, his victory all but assured.
"Looks like luck is on my side tonight," Alastor purred, reaching for the chips. But Dean wasn't done yet. With a quick, almost imperceptible movement, he revealed an extra card hidden up his sleeve. The room fell silent as the realization dawned: Dean had outplayed the demon.
Everyone gasped slightly. Despite the smile, Alastor's eyes widened. Dean showed a cocky smile, looking over at you to see the relief and practically hearts in your eyes. Dean looked back at the demon who sat across from him.
Dean leaned back in his chair, a triumphant smirk on his lips. "Don't mess with a Winchester."
"Clever," Alastor said. With a flick of his wrist, Dean swept the chips toward him, securing your soul. He flipped the card that he had up his sleeve and flicked it at Alastor, then stood from the chair and made his way over to you, hugging you.
"Thank you," you whispered.

Buzz cut season.
Part 1, previous chapter here
Summary: Sam looses his hair and his siblings can't help but make jokes about it.
Warnings: humor, siblings being siblings, mentions of violence later on), mentions of a dead mother and cat, mentioning of self destructive behavior
Pairings: Sam and Dean Winchester x younger sister! reader, Castiel x Winchester!reader (platonic)
A/N: This fanfiction is based on THIS post made by @myfandomhell <3
Tumblr media
"Well, Sammy. There's no need to lie about it.", Dean speaks, while leaning back in his chair. He is sitting in front of his brother in the library of the bunker. On the table are multiple piles of ancient books about witchcraft and mysticism, however, Dean chooses to ignore them:" After all those years of begging you, I am actually very happy that you listened to my advice. You do look much better like this. Even though, I probably wouldn't have cut it this short, just-."
Sam closes his eyes and rubs the bridge of his nose in pure frustration. After all, this has been going on for three days now. He takes another book into his hands and sighs:" I really don’t know how many times I have to tell you that I didn’t do it."
“Didn’t do what?”, Y/N who wanders into the room tilts her head, she places her pink “best sister in the whole world” mug on the table before sitting down next to Dean. He scoffs and playfully nudges her arm:” Our drill Sergeant over there claims that he didn’t cut his hair.”
It takes her a few seconds, but eventually, her carefree smile begins to turn into an irritated one: "W-What?" Dean, who didn't catch his sister's change of expression chuckles as if it's the funniest thing in the whole world:" I know, right?" Y/N clenches her jaw before she stands up again. She steps over to one of the large bookshelves and scans the old (and occasionally dusty) books. A few seconds later she pulls one out and opens it up. Her y/e/ced eyes skip over the chapters rather nervously.
"What's wrong?", Dean asks, still grinning from ear to ear as he takes a sip of his beer. However, when the huntress doesn't respond he turns around. "Y/N?", Sam shuts his laptop and blinks in bewilderment:" What are you looking for?"
His sister looks up, a worried look on her face:" You promise that you didn't simply cut your hair?" The younger Winchester wrinkles his forehead while letting out a breathless chuckle:" Hold on a second, Y/N, what-." "I need you to promise me?" "I promise." There is something flashing up in her eyes, that tells him this situation just took a dark turn.
Y/N takes a deep breath before nearly slamming the book on the table. The two brothers move closer towards it and for a few seconds they simply stare at the brownish paper, before looking back up. "What…what are we looking at?", Dean asks, while scratching his temple, his green eyes move back towards the pages. Y/N's right index finger finds its way to the little caricature:" This!" "And that's…?"
"Two days ago, while I was reading the newspaper I happened to stumble across an article about some guy who needed to be institutionalized after he started ripping off his own skin. He claimed, that a little goblin-like creature took his late mother's gold necklace.", Y/N explains:" I thought it was funny, you know. Small Goblins, taking people's prized possessions." She clears her throat:" Anyway. Yesterday, I read another article. A woman started to cut her arm off, declaring that she couldn't care less about her limbs after a small green creature grabbed her cat's ashes. She had to be institutionalized as well."
"So what? How does that have anything to do with me?", Sam asks and Y/N runs a hand through her hair. "Well.", she starts and sits down:" I looked into it, and turns out this little goblin actually exists. It's Irish folklore, and the opposite of that whole "golden pot at the end of the rainbow" myth. They're called "Cavecrackler". They primarily come during the night and steal something that's very meaningful to the individual in order to kind of bond with the victim. And then…"
Y/N stops talking and bites her lips. "Then what?", Dean asks, while Sam's eyes move down to the page. They widen as soon as he reads the last paragraph:" They slowly steal their souls."

Scream
The lights in the corridor are flickering, an eerie feeling haunting your veins as a shudder runs down your spine and forces goosebumps onto your skin.
Carefully, you wander down the hallway labyrinth of the bunker, following a noise that seems to be coming from the main bathrooms. You’re a skilled huntress with years of experience, but whenever the boys leave you alone at night in the magical underground prison, things always get a little tense. After all, who knows what might escape. From wicked witches to wood nymphs, you sure had your fair share of weirdness since moving into your boyfriend’s home. It doesn’t help that it’s close to Halloween either, and you and Dean have been watching his favorite horror flicks nonstop this past week.
“Sam? Dean?” you warily call out, knowing full well there won’t be an answer coming since the guys are still out on their supply run.
A few more quiet steps and you’ve reached the bathroom. The door is ajar like it usually is unless someone’s currently using the showers, so you slowly push it further open, gripping your weapon of choice – a machete – tightly in your hands as you enter.
Suddenly, something moves in your periphery, and you swing your weapon at the tall, black shadow, aiming to behead it with one swift move of your blade. But the figure skillfully ducks and swirls you around, catching you from behind and holding you tight.
You’re pressed flush against the unknown assailant, but something feels familiar about the strong arms that are caging you in. And then, you notice the irresistible scent that instantly weakens your knees – a mix of sandalwood, gunpowder, leather, and whiskey.
“Dean!” You frown, realizing who your attacker is, and hear your boyfriend’s loud laugh, dropping the machete to the tiles. “I almost killed you, you idiot!”
“Oh, c’mon, wasn’t even close,” he chuckles, but his deep voice sounds muffled, and as you peer back at him, you can see the Ghostface mask he’s wearing and scowl anew.
“Seriously?!” You cock an eyebrow in annoyance. This is what you get for disclosing one of your deepest fantasies and sharing a dirty little secret with him. As you watched the Scream movies last week, you told him that you wouldn’t say no to a little murderous fuck. Of course, Dean would immediately use that knowledge against you.
“C’mon,” he laughs amusedly and starts to grind the bulging erection under his jeans into your ass. “You said you wanted to fuck Ghostface. Just making your fantasy come true, sweetheart…”
Turning in his hold, you lift the mask from his face a little and drape your arms around his neck, watching him closely with narrowed eyes as he smirks broadly at you. And then, you cave with a loud sigh, “Fine. How you wanna do this, my little killer?”
A chuckle vibrates in his chest as he pulls the mask over his freckled face again and pushes you back against the counter with the sink. He manhandles you to face the large mirror, your elbows propping up on the cool marble as he yanks your ass to him and spreads your legs further apart. He’s quick like a cat in shimmying your pajama shorts down till they pool around your ankles.
You hear the clink of a metal belt buckle as you observe him closely in the mirror, arousal pooling between your thighs. His fingers are quick to rub through your slick folds, hearing his little hums of approval behind you.
“Hmmm, so wet for me, baby. Gonna stab you real good with my dick tonight,” he says, and while you can’t see his face, you know he’s grinning like a little kid under the frightening mask, clearly proud of himself for his specially tailored dirty talk. “Gonna ram that knife into you deep and hard till you’re screaming, sweetheart.”
You want to sigh, but you know it’s useless. Besides, you hate to admit it, but his words are turning you on somehow, barely able to wait till you do get stabbed by that giant knife of his. You push your ass back against his fully erect and now freed dick, causing him to chuckle at your impatience. “You’re gonna fuck me or what, Mr. Killer-Dick?”
“Such an impatient little slut tonight, huh?” Dean teases before you feel his thick cockhead press against your dripping entrance. Gripping your hips tightly, he slams in with one harsh and fast thrust, pushing you forward on the counter as he immediately sets a merciless pace from the beginning. “’S that what you want, huh?”
“Fuck, yeah,” you whimper as every deep pound of his hits your cervix and the sweet spot in the back perfectly.
“Eyes open, Y/N. Watch me fuck you in the mirror. Want you to see the face you make when you come on my fat cock, baby girl,” Dean orders you, dominance and amusement lacing his baritone voice, and you try your best to keep your eyelids from squeezing shut as he hits you harder and harder, watching the two of you in the mirror. “Shit, baby, never felt so wet before… Seems like you really like that, hm? Watching yourself get fucked by a serial killer.”
You can’t help but agree, feeling your juices gush out of you and coat his throbbing cock like they never have before. You’d feel ashamed if you didn’t enjoy it so goddamn much, and Dean clearly didn’t seem to mind it either, feeling his dick twitch inside of you in sheer delight.
“Fuck, so close, Dean…”
“Yeah? Cum on my cock, baby,” he pants, his breathing growing more labored as well as beads of sweat collect under the mask. “Wanna hear you scream my name as I fill you up with my seed…”
“Dean, fuck, please… Shit!” Your walls grip him tight as he picks up a relentless pace before the coil in your belly snaps, the first few stars coming into your view behind your eyelids as you come hard around him.
Dean’s palms steady your trembling body, pushing deep into you with one last thrust as he chases his own release, filling your cunt with sticky warmth. His groan echoes through the quiet bathroom in harmony with your moans as the two of you come down from your highs.
Pulling out of you, Dean removes the mask and heaves an exhaustive sigh, a blissful smile decorating his ample lips as he wipes the sweat from his forehead with his henley. His head cocks to the side, watching the milky mix of cum and your juices trickle out of your pussy and down your thighs as you catch your breath on the bathroom counter.
He chuckles mischievously. “Screampie.”
“Dean!” You frown scoldingly and sigh once more. Some things will never change, you suppose.

Yes, I'm super proud of that joke, duh 🤣

Comfort in a Quiet Afternoon
Summary - Part 53 in the Comfort series

Tumblr media
When you, Dean and Destiny get back to the bunker, Sam is busy in the kitchen cooking a fancy meal to impress this mystery huntress he’s planning a future with. You get anxious when you see all the vegetables, salad and lean meat. You know neither your husband nor your adopted daughter will eat any of that. Truthfully, it’s not your favourite either, but you’d eat it to impress Sam’s girlfriend. From the doorway you ask, “Is this for a romantic dinner for two?”
“Huh?” Sam says, flustered. He flicks his attention between you and the salad he’s currently tossing.
You step into the room and lean against a clear part of the bench. “Dean told me about Eileen and your plan. I think it sounds great and I can’t wait to meet her.”
“She’s great. We’re just taking it slow. I went on a solo hunt a while ago and found her there. She was already on the job, hunting the thing that killed her family; a banshee. It also left her deaf. But she’s so strong, independent and badass, much like yourself.”
“Sam…”
“I know. You only have eyes for Dean. I get it. That’s why I knew I had to move on. Then I met her. It’s not about the similarities, it’s just she knows what it’s like. She gets the life too and the toll. And I’m glad you and Dean are moving on to a better life, but I’m not sure I can just yet, and she’s only just got her revenge and is still finding her footing after that. So I don’t know what our chances are, but I just want to see where it goes. I fell hard and fast for Jess and Amelia, I don’t want to do that again.”
“We rarely get to choose who we fall for, Sam. If she’s the one, you’ll know.”
“I hope so.”
You nod towards the salad that is well and truly tossed now. “So, you know Dean and Destiny won’t touch that, or anything you’ve cooked for that matter.”
“I know…”
You nod. “You just tell us when you want us gone and when to return. But I would love to meet her.”
“Thank you.”
“Optimism looks good on you, Sam,” you say as you turn around to leave him to his cooking. You catch the smile that eclipses his face as you turn the corner. Smiling to yourself you continue down the hall to the Dean cave where you can hear muffled voices. You stand in the doorway watching Dean and Destiny playfully fight over the TV remote. Dean tickles her and she bursts out laughing as she tries to squirm out of his reach. Eventually, you decide to make your presence known. You push off the door frame and say, “If you guys can’t agree peacefully then it must be my turn to choose.”
“No! I wanna watch Totoro!” Destiny whines.
“And Dean?”
“The new season of Game of Thrones just came out on Netflix…”
“And you think that’s appropriate to watch with Destiny?”
“I was here first! She just came in.”
“And who’s the adult here?”
“Fine,” he lets go of the remote with a sigh. “She can watch Totoro again…”
Destiny grips the remote but frowns. “I’m sorry.” She holds the remote out to Dean. “I can play in my room.”
You get ready to step in, but Dean takes the remote from her before pulling her onto his lap and hugging her tight. He turns on the TV, searches for My Neighbor Totoro and presses play. She lights up as she hears the opening music. He spins her around so she can watch, with her back leaning against his chest. She looks back at him confused.
“We watching or what?” he asks with a smile.
“But…”
He pats the spot on the couch beside him, so you join them. You rest your head on Dean’s shoulder and he moves one arm to rest around you.
“Being a parent means making sacrifices and compromises. My dad never got that. I’m not him. My family is always going to come first. I can watch my show later.”
“Thank you,” you whisper into his neck.
He nods and kisses your head before you all go quiet and focus on the movie that you’ve seen multiple times now. You all eventually drift off.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
When you wake up the TV is dark. You check Dean’s watch for the time: 3:30. Your stomach growls. You carefully get up trying your best to not disturb Dean and Destiny who are still sleeping and go out in search of Sam. You find him sitting at a table in the library reading something on his laptop.
“Got an ETA for Eileen?”
“Around six.”
“You want us gone before then?”
“You don’t have to be. But yeah, may be easier if you are and then just come back after dessert…”
“Sounds good. I’ll wake up the napsters and then we can go get some ice cream or something and go to the park. I want to start trying to get her to play with other kids anyway. She’s acting like a normal kid mostly anyway, but I just want to make sure she won’t act out around other kids. Then we can go out somewhere for dinner. We’ll have our own family afternoon and night and come back when you text.”
“Are you sure? I feel bad about kicking you guys out.”
“It’s fine, besides, I offered. And we really do need to start doing more normal things like this as a family if we want to get out.”
“Alright. Thanks Y/N.”
You nod and walk back down the hall. You make a quick detour to go to the bathroom, and tidy your hair from your nap before going back to the Dean cave to wake up the rest of your family. The last thing you want is to startle Dean and have him go into self-defense hunting mode, so you come in quietly and sit on the couch sideways facing him. You softly run your hand through his hair and kiss his cheek. “It’s time to wake up, baby.” You then lean down and place a kiss on Destiny’s head from where she’s snuggled into Dean’s embrace.
After a few minutes they finally start to stir. Once Dean’s almost fully awake and alert again he leans over and pecks your lips. Destiny blinks up at you as Dean keeps his arms wrapped around her securely.
“Good evening, my two sleepyheads. How do the two of you feel about going out? Get a treat, maybe go to the park? And then dinner?” You ask slowly and carefully, making sure not to overwhelm them so soon after waking up.
“What about dinner here? Eileen?” Dean asks.
“Dinner here is only for two. We’ll come back and meet her after. I’ve already talked to Sam.”
“He’s been around for most of our dates, always C-blocking me. How come he gets privacy?”
“Dean,” you chastise him, as you flick your eyes down to Destiny warning him about his language. “Neither of you will eat what he’s cooked anyway. It’s rabbit food.”
“Fine,” he says with a sigh.
“Come on, would it really be so bad to go out with just the three of us for some family time?”
“No, it’s just not fair.”
“Life rarely is, suck it up.” You tickle Destiny’s foot that’s resting on the couch beside you. “You wanna come out with us?” She nods, Dean releases his grip and she climbs off his lap. “Alright, go put on some shoes and a jacket, okay?”
“Okay,” she says before scurrying off down the hall.
Dean leans over and kisses you deeply. When he pulls back he quietly asks, “you think once we get back maybe we could finally spend some time just the two of us, in bed? Let me worship this sex body?” He runs his hands down your sides.
“We’ll see. I can’t promise you anything, Dean. It depends on how Destiny goes. And how tired we both are after this evening.”
“I promise I won’t be too tired. And you don’t have to do a thing. Just relax and let me make you feel good.”
“We’ll see. I know you miss sex, but we just have to be more careful about getting caught now. It’s one thing having Sam or Cas walk in, but Destiny? She’s a child, I won’t risk scarring her like that. Plus, I don’t want the awkward conversation that follows.”
“Yeah, me either.”
“Come on, she’ll be ready soon. We need to get ready too.” You take his hand and pull him to stand up and then you both go to your room to put on a jacket and shoes, just as you’d told Destiny to do.

Day.7 ~ Searching for pumpkins ~ Hallowtober
Tumblr media
Dean and Sam x fem!friend!reader (platonic)
warning : fluff, no use of Y/n
summary : Hunting demons and supernaturals in twos is good but it gets boring in the long run, if there are three of you everything is much better and if it means that you also get a delicious pumpkin soup in October it's even better…but if there are no pumpkins, the hunters have to move and hunt them, isn't it clear?
info : My first time writing for the two and even if I was not completely satisfied I hope you like it, have fun and see you next time :)

It was one thing if you liked Halloween, I mean what's not to like? There's autumn, the not quite cold season when you could wrap yourself in a blanket and sit on the couch and enjoy a nice warm cocoa with cream and cinnamon, or a delicious warm fruit punch or roast some marshmallows over the fire with friends and family.
But above all, the autumn from September to October was the best because at the end of autumn, the day before the Christmas season began, Halloween was celebrated, the night of horror and fright, whether in a big or small town, everyone took part.
From the shops that decorated their windows with cobwebs and ghosts where everyone rushed to get something sweet, a costume, drinks and most importantly a pumpkin.
Because the fruit and vegetable was one of the most important parts of the tradition of celebrating Halloween not just as a decoration, a costume or eating pumpkin soup, it was a day when monsters rose and everyone seemed to accept the scary side of the world, an extraordinary day for everyone except…Sam and Dean.
Two brothers who had to deal with this extraordinary world all their lives, because there was no real choice, driven not only by their father but also by the instinct to protect humanity, they did nothing but search and hunt every day, many had joined them on their journey and they had also lost many, but they had also made a friend along the way.
A huntress who had saved the two brothers from a Wendigoo when the three of them were openly searching for the creature after it had killed one of their acquaintances and she had made it her goal to avenge it, simple yet serious.
But more than anything, the three of them had a connection not just on a paranormal level, it was also a connection of lostness and searching so the three of them soon set off together Dean was convinced when he saw the black painted camper and Sam when he heard their movements and the three of them have been inseparable ever since.
When they weren't out looking for clues during the day Dean complained that Sam still worried too much and Sam complained that his brother disrespected him, it was the little arguments, the making up when they found each other in the camper or a shabby motel or in the evening when they had to help each other out of a sitaution.
,,You'll never get rid of us again," she heard Dean say as the door of the caravan opened and she saw the two brown-eyed men come in with bags of food in their hands as they not only had hardly any food left, they also needed some for their pumpkin soup.
She saw the evasive look on Dean's face and Sam seemed quite busy unpacking the food, ,,I hope not…but tell me, where are my pumpkins?" she asked, having already peeled and mashed the potato with the two of them a few hours earlier.
Sam was much more skilful with a peeler than his brother, who stayed to cut the potatoes, whistling as Dean made his way to the back of the caravan and continued to deal with the kitchen roll ghosts he had placed in the caravan, ,,Sorry…listen when we arrived we were all sold out, we left everything but no one had any more pumpkins," Sam finally admitted and gave her an encouraging smile.
A smile she couldn't be angry with for a long time and he was about to make a stupid remark to Dean when she put the knife down and wiped her hands on a dry towel, she reached for her bag and a hunting knife.
,,What's that?" asked Sam, who was probably still puzzling over what to cook for autumn and his brother had already jumped up, ,,Well, what does it look like? Pumpkin hunting of course!" exclaimed Dean and winked at her before Sam joined them with a shake of his head and the three of them set off knowing that there were only wild pumpkins to fetch or well, to “borrow”.
The idea of borrowing came from Dean after he realised that wild pumpkins would mean hours of searching, he promptly looked and found a farm nearby where they were crouched in the bushes waiting like fugitives.
,,How important is the soup to you?" Sam asked, looking anxiously at the field of pumpkins where they saw not only the target but also several guard dogs who didn't look too friendly.
When Dean simply pulled his brother along, she said it would be worth it and watched in amusement as the two of them scampered towards the field for a few moments until they ran back with a shout and the barking and shooting of a shotgun could be heard but the three of them disappeared back into the dark, laughing.
A dark from which they only emerged at the Carvan, laughing and the two pumpkins safe in each other's arms, ,,You're incredible boys," she grinned, wiping her face as she held the door open for the brothers and the two sat down exhausted on the corner of the couch.
,,This better be worth it," Dean muttered, smirking nonetheless as he saw Sam's pained expression, still a little shaken by it all. With the two of them arguing in the background, Friday the 13th on the telly and the smell of soup in the air, she set to work unwrapping the pumpkins, chopping them up and throwing everything into a pot of spices and stock, chatting with the two of them and drinking a couple of sweet punches before the shrill of the alarm clock signalled that the soup was ready.
With a little cream, she drew a spider's web on the soup with a toothpick and placed the bowl down for the two of them and took some for herself, ,,So I hope you enjoy your meal," she said and waited a moment, glancing from left to right as she sat between them and saw the faces of both of them start to smile broadly before she pulled into a squeezing, warm embrace.
,,This is amazing!" Dean exclaimed and took another spoonful of the orange soup and Sam took another sip, ,,You're the best, really," Sam said and she felt the pride inside her as she gave them both a treat on this scary day.
A day on which she was once again happy and grateful for her friendship with the two of them, a day on which every circumstance, every look and every word meant so much more and if she could repay them with such delicious soup, she would make it every day now.

Resurrect (Pt 1/4)
Tumblr media
Benny Lafitte x reader (Reader has Nickname of Nix)
When the portal opened to pull the souls out of Castiel you were caught in the wake resulting in you stuck in purgatory. You figured that would be it, you'd fight as long as you could until some monster got the better of you that is until you met Benny.
Warnings: cursing, the usual violence
"Don't go too close!" You heard Bobby's warning a second too late. You jumped forward when Cas sagged, helping him to his feet just as the portal opened. You felt the pull of the magic and tried to get out of it but it was useless, this spell was ancient and the power fueling it was too much. You heard Dean call your name before a bright light flashed, engulfing your vision and the room around you seemed to fall away.
You must have passed out somewhere along the way because the next thing you knew you were waking up in a dark forest, tall trees stretching towards a grey sky surrounded you. You slowly got to your feet, checking yourself for injuries.
You patted yourself to find that your gun was still at the small of your back and the blade at your side was still there. The only problem was you had no idea where you were or what the hell had happened. A growl drew your attention and you spun to see three looming shadows getting closer to where you stood. The portal was to put the souls back in purgatory, if you'd gotten sucked in....fuck that meant you were in monster land alone and with very few weapons.
You took off at a run, hoping the things wouldn't give chance. You had no clue what the hell they were, meaning you had no clue how to kill them. You could hear them gaining ground and decided to try your luck with the silver bullets loaded into your gun.
You spun, taking aim at the first one and pulled the trigger. It fell with a heavy thud. You quickly shot the other two, knowing that your scent mixed with the sound of the gunfire would draw attention to your location from only God knew how far.
You needed to put some distance between this spot and you. You needed to find cover and figure out some sort of a plan. Certainly the boys would look for you right? Bobby or Cas would figure out what had happened even if Sam and Dean couldn't. You just needed to stay alive until the rescue team showed up. Hearing branches breaking, heading in your direction as you ran told you that plan may just be easier said than done.
Tumblr media
You hit the ground hard, managing to roll into the movement which meant you'd avoided the set of teeth chomping wildly at your arm. You put enough space between you and the feral looking werewolf to land a solid kick to his chest, when he stumbled backwards you grabbed for the large black blade he'd dropped and spun it in your grip. With a solid swing you separated his head from his neck and was rewarded with the sound of it hitting the dirt.
------------
Your moment of celebration was short lived because you could hear the rugaru who'd been tracking you for the better part of the last two days let out a cackle "Oh little huntress. Come out, come out wherever you are" you took a deep breath before calling back "First that's sexist, I'm a hunter not huntress. Second I'm tired of this game. Come and get me you asshole"
You recognized him, you'd killed him some years back with Dean. You never would've thought you'd be facing him at a later date but then again since landing in monster world you'd been faced with quite a few angry ones who recognized you from hunting at Sam and Dean's side for so many years.
He stepped out the tree line and laughed "There's that false bravado I love about you hunters. I can smell your fear, hell I could smell it when you killed me with the Winchesters"
You shrugged "Never said I was fearless, just dumb enough to do it anyways" he charged for you and you let him, jumping out the way at the last moment.Bastard hadn't realized you'd made it to the edge of one of the many cliffs littered around the landscape.
You walked over to the side and laughed to yourself when you saw that he'd splattered his own head on one of the jagged rocks at the base of the cliff. "Dumb enough to do it but smart enough to know my surroundings asshole"
-------------
You bent to grab your blade, glancing around to see if anything else was stalking you. Something was tracking you but you weren't sure what. Days had passed with you feeling like you were being watched but you'd gotten used to that feeling. Some creature feature was always close at hand.
You weren't sure how long you'd been stuck here but it was long enough you had gotten used to having blood caked on your face, used to keeping an eye in every direction and used to knowing at any given second you'd be in a fight to the death and stood the chance of not winning.
With a final glance to your surroundings you started moving again, best not to stay in one place.
Tumblr media
Benny knew within a few days that something new had hit purgatory. The electricity in the air ran wild from the news of a human lurking among the shadows. It was a woman, a hunter and a damn good one from what he'd heard.
---------
Of course he'd be curious, who wouldn't? When he first tracked her down she'd been cornered by a couple ghouls. They were taunting her, saying how they were going to enjoy tearing her apart. He'd moved to help her but then saw the smirk pulling at her lips and his curiosity kept him back. He'd move if the tide turned against her but he was curious to see how she handled herself.
She tilted her head to the side slightly "Well cmon then fellas. Don't keep a lady waiting" he watched as she threw a smaller blade at the bigger of the ghouls, it buried into his neck, not a killing blow but enough to drop him. She winked at the other one before swinging the larger blade she had, decapitating him then ran over to finish off the one who laid on the ground clutching at his throat.
When she stood up to wipe the blades clean on her leg he got a good look at her. Her hair was up in a haphazard looking braid, the flannel she had on had seen better days, the black tshirt under it still looked solid. She was curvy to say the least, and was beautiful if he must admit.
The thing that pulled him to her wasn't that though. She was a human, in a place like this yet standing her ground and surving....she'd been here for months if the rumors were true yet besides the scar on her cheek there was no noticeable injury. He was impressed.
Her eyes flickered towards where he was but he knew she couldn't see him. Maybe she could feel his eyes on her? She visibly shook herself then started moving again. She'd learned one rule already, always stay on the move.
Tumblr media
You were leaned against a tree, trying to do a mental check list of where you were. The scenery mostly looked the same but the river that cut through the center of purgatory was your main land mark. It gave you some sort of means to map out locations. You knew what monsters were in what areas the heaviest, you knew where the cliffs were and you could still pin point the area you landed for what good it'd do you.
The sound of branches breaking hit your ears and you dropped into a fighting stance, deciding if you had enough time to make a run for it or if it would be a fight. Five vamps came out of the trees and you cursed yourself. How had you gotten so careless to let so many catch you in one place?
------------
"Hey fellas" you greeted, glancing towards the two women "and ladies" they spread out to surround you and you tsk tsked "Cmon now. Where's your manners? Can't say hello before you kill me?"
The clear ring leader laughed "Told you, she's hunted with the Winchesters for so long she acts like them" you grabbed your heart "Ouch. I don't drink anywhere as much as Dean and Sam's got a few more issues then me, I was never fed demon blood!" You tried to keep all of them in your eye line but that was easier said than done.
The ring leader nodded and that must have been the cue. They all charged you at once so you swung wildly, your blade biting into the nearest ones neck. You snatched it free and kicked his body towards them "Cmon then!" A flurry of motion put three vampires pining you down.... wait...there was four?
You struggled against their hold and felt the weight on you lighten as a hand wrapped around your arm, snatching you to your feet and shoving your blade handle back into your hand. You were back to back with your savior but couldn't concentrate on that. The vamps circled around the two of you and an accented voice came from over your shoulder "Let em come to you, stay close"
-------------
When the final vamp fell you turned to face who'd come to your aid and saw fangs sliding back into place. You took a step back, he had a broad build, shoulders wider than Dean's with muscles and a solid frame from what had to have been a physical life before he'd been turned and only God knows how long he'd been here for.
Blue eyes studied you for a moment before he spoke "You good?" That accent that had you guessing Louisiana as where he was originally from threw you for a loop along with his looks. You never would've really said a vampire was good looking but then again you never would've guessed you would get stuck in purgatory either. You nodded after a moment "Yeah. I'm good but can I ask why intervene on my behalf? I'm a human"
He smirked "and a hunter too darlin don't forget that one" you raised an eyebrow "So this place has a rumor mill. Nice to know" he chuckled before holding out his hand "Name's Benny" you hesitated for a moment before shaking his hand "Name's Y/N but everybody calls me Nix,You still didn't answer why you helped me. Doesn't that put a target on your back?" He shrugged "I've done dumber things for worse reasons"
You shook your head with a small laugh "Ok then" he motioned through the woods "We moving or staying here and letting more find us?" You shrugged "How do I know this ain't some kind of game you're playing?" He held your gaze before a smile slipped onto his face "You don't but I did just save your hide after all" you stood stoic for a moment then nodded "Lead the way. I'm sure you know this place better than me"
-----------------
You weren't sure what made you trust Benny at first besides the initial part of him intervening for you when he very well could've sat back and watched you be ripped to shreds.
The first few weeks after the two of you decided to join forces you kept your distance from each other, both of you rightfully wary of each other. He was still a vampire and you a hunter, meaning your kind was a threat to the other's kind.
The way you communicated was a whistle Benny taught you. If he heard it he knew to come running and you did the same. Was it strange at first backing a vampire in a fight if it came to it? A bit but the longer you fought alongside him the more you began to see him less as a vampire and more as just Benny.
-------------
A couple months passed or what he said was a couple months anyways. You still had no clue how he managed to have any sort of hold on keeping time that had passed.
You'd learned he'd been in purgatory for about fifty years, give or take. He told you how by the time he was killed he hadn't fed off a human in years, he'd simply survived off blood bank blood. He'd also told you about how he'd been killed. The fact that he'd walked away from his nest and the vamp who turned him when he'd fell in love with a human named Andrea Kormos.
The more you learned about him, the more it made sense for him to intervene for you. No one had been there to intervene for Andrea when his nest had attacked them.
--------------
You started to open up to him as well. You told him about the uncle who'd raised you, about Bobby who'd stepped into the role of a parent as well when your uncle was killed. You also told him that Nix was short for Phoenix, a nickname Dean had saddled you with after your first car get wrecked on a hunt and you climbed out while it was on fire.
You also told him about Sam and Dean, that conversation had been unavoidable considering how many monsters had come after you due to your affiliation with the Winchesters. You'd saw how his jaw had tightened when you said you didn't know why no one had come after you, you knew the anger had shown in your eyes because a part of you felt betrayed.
You never gave up on Sam or Dean. You always fought for them and they'd left you for monster feed. Not only them but Bobby and Cas too. You loved them all, they were your family yet it seemed they'd forgotten about you.
---------------
"Darlin I don't know how anybody could forget you" Benny told you one day while the two of you were catching a breather at the river that flowed with cool water amidst the constant humidity in the air. Even when the temperature dropped the air felt solid.
You glanced up from where you'd been squatted, washing your face clean and smiled "Cmon now Benny don't act like I'm not a pain in the ass" you teased and saw a smile pulling at his lips "Oh I never said that. You're a tremendous pain in the ass and your humanity is a damn magnet for every son of a bitch in this place"
You straightened up and stared at him for a moment "There better be a but somewhere in there Lafitte"
He took a step towards you, pushing the little pieces of hair back that'd fallen into your face "But I damn sure don't regret saving your backside and I'd do again and again. You make life a lot more interesting down here" the moment seemed a bit too intimate, it was the calmest things had been in weeks and if you were being honest you and Benny had grown closer and closer.
You swallowed hard then laughed lightly "I see just how you managed to smooth talk your way onto a yacht with an heiress" he smiled that smile that you'd learned to look forward to seeing. It made the corner of his eyes crinkled slightly and they seemed to brighten a shade or two with the action "Well a man's gotta have a few different talents"
He motioned towards your hair "Speaking of, turn around. I can manage a braid" you turned around, taking his blade when he held it out for you to hold.
You felt his fingers working their way through your hair, easing the knots out "Don't tell me you can cook too or I may propose" you teased as he worked your hair into a tight braid. He leaned up close to your ear and you felt his breath on your neck as he said "Well I suggest we find a jeweler around here cause I'm a pretty decent cook too"
You felt him tie the braid off before he took his blade back "That should hold" you ran two fingers down the braid, amazed at how smooth it was.
"Thank you" you told him and he nodded "Any time" growls hit your ears and Benny cursed under his breath "I think they've found our scent again honey" the two of you moved step for step away from the growls and deeper into the woods. The river didn't have solid ground around it, the wet rocks were a bitch to fight in if you could help from it. That lesson had been learned a few times over.
Tumblr media
A year or better had passed since you landed in purgatory, a year of constantly being on high alert, of fighting every monster that God ever made. At least nine months of that year had been spent at Benny's side. The two of you made one hell of a team, it'd been a while since you were actively hunted so you only had to deal with fights as you stumbled across them.
----------
You were resting in a cavern that Benny had found. You didn't actually tire down here but you'd discovered if you were injured getting off your feet for a just a little while helped you heal. You'd barely gotten slashed but Benny had insisted.
Something was going on, the population was more on edge than they'd been in a while and the air was pure electricity. The problem was Benny couldn't exactly try to get a bead on any rumors with your scent lingering so here you were waiting for him to return.
-----------
A couple hours had passed when you heard a loud whistle ring out. You snatched your blade off the floor of the cavern and ran out to meet Benny "What did you find out?" You asked and he smiled "A damn portal opened up sweetheart...a human portal"
"What are you saying Benny?" You asked and he grabbed your chin gently "You can get out. God finally figured out a live intact human was stuck here" "What about you?" You asked and he shrugged "There's a spell, if you're willing you can drag my soul to the other side with you" you felt your stomach flip with excitement "Then let's find the damn portal"
Tumblr media
You and Benny had been fighting your way across the land for three days when Benny stopped short enough you ran into his back "What the hell?" You grumbled and he glanced around "Leviathan are back" your eyes widened as two globs landed not three feet from you "Incoming!"
The two of you fought side by side taking out the two Leviathan and you were grateful they were easier to kill here. You cut your eyes at Benny and he was looking through the woods "Benny?" "Something else landed. I need to find Angelo"
---------
Angelo was another vampire. He wasn't like Benny. He'd fed off humans up until a hunter had caught up with him. He hated you but feared Benny worse.
"Angelo!" Benny's voice was deep when he called his name. Angelo turned, grimacing when he saw you "Benny and his pet human!" You didn't want to push a fight but rolled your eyes "What landed?" He looked from you to Benny and an almost nervous wave rolled off of him "One of her kind, a human...a hunter and an angel"
Hunter and an angel? Along with the Leviathan being sent back? Could it be Cas and one of the boys? "What area?" You asked and Angelo glared at you before giving the basic direction. "The portal.." Benny reminded you but you shook your head "Please. I need to know" he sighed "Woman you're gonna be the death of me yet"
Tumblr media
Dean had turned just a bit too slow, the vamp coming out of nowhere. He dodged the fangs chomping at him, trying to find the handle of his blade before the weight was gone off of him. Another body had tackled the vamp and sliced his head off. To his surprise when he got to his feet the other body belonged to another vamp who was watching him carefully "What? No thanks for saving your hide?"
He held up the blade "Sure. I won't stick this up your ass" a voice he hadn't heard in years and that he'd thought he'd never hear again called out "Dean Winchester, you always were a kinky son of a bitch"
He thought his eyes were playing tricks when you ran out of the woods and to the vampire's side? He spoke your name softly as you whispered to the vampire before turning to face him "Live and in the flesh"
--------------
You could feel Benny's presence heavy at your back at you turned to face Dean "Live and in the flesh" when you'd said Dean's name Benny's anger had flared, fueled by his want to know why you were left in this place. You'd told him to let you handle it and he promised he would.
Dean looked from you to Benny "How?" He took a step towards you and you felt Benny stiffen slightly "the portal sucked me in Dean. None of you thought to look for me?" "We didn't know sweetheart. I mean everything happened so fast. You disappeared, Cas exploded and we were fucking scrambling"
Angelo said an angel was here? "Cas is dead?" He shook his head "He's here. Somewhere" you nodded "What about Sam, Bobby?" His eyes dropped "Bobby got killed a while back" you felt your knees weaken and Benny's hand shot out to steady you "I'm sorry sweetheart"
Bobby was gone. You'd spent so long thinking he abandoned you and he was dead. "How?" "The head Leviathan shot him" you nodded slowly, pushing tears down. Survival first.
"We know a way out. A portal for humans. I thought God had realized I was here but maybe it reacted to you, the righteous man and his angel" you knew the bitter tinge held to your voice but despite your urge to run to Dean and hug him you couldn't quite help it. "You gotta know I would've come for you. We never would've left you behind.."
You took a step back, bumping into Benny's solid frame "Dean, you're one of my best friends. I absolutely love you but I can't. Not right now. We'll help find Cas then we're getting out of here"
--------------
What the hell had you lived through to trust a vampire over him? Dean was happy as hell to see you alive, he'd thought he'd lost you. They all had. They'd mourned you, Bobby had blamed himself. You had to know they hadn't abandoned you without a second thought. He watched the vampire you'd introduced as Benny whisper something in your ear and you nod.
He'd find Cas and maybe earn your trust again in the meanwhile too. You called his name and he glanced your way so you motioned around "Benny can kinda get a sense for Cas when we get close enough but we gotta get close enough so our best chance is to hunt, try to find a lead"
He nodded "Sounds like a plan" you glanced back towards Benny then motioned towards the woods "We keep moving"
Benny moved first, keeping you within arm's reach Dean noticed so Dean fell in step next to you "Nix...I'm sorry" you shook your head "We'll talk about it when we get out of here. Guilt, worry... that shit can get you killed. Just stay alive. That's how you can make it up to me"
Tumblr media
"Incoming!" Your voice hit Dean and Benny's ears, both men going back to back as you slid into sight a pack of werewolves nipping at your heels. They moved to let you between them before facing the threat.
You and Dean together in this place was proving too much for some of the monsters. Days were turning into 360 combat. Luckily between the three of you, a dance of sort had developed. If you weren't busy fighting yourself you would've been tempted to watch Dean and Benny fight. The two of them together? Was a thing of beauty. They moved like a well oiled machine despite hating each other weeks before.
The pack was quickly put down, the three of you getting a moment to catch your breath and clean blood off your weapons. "Why aren't Leviathan attacking?" You asked and caught Dean shoot Benny a look which was clearly "She really gonna question a bit of good luck?" And nearly laughed "What? Both of you have thought it. You just ain't voiced it"
Benny shrugged "What's it matter Nix? We ain't having to fight those assholes so why question it?" Dean nodded "What the dental apocalypse said" you rolled your eyes at them both "Cmon before that damn rugaru gets away again"
Tumblr media
The rugaru ended up being the break you three needed. You stood back next to Benny while Dean "questioned" the rugaru.
You flinched slightly when he screamed out. Killing, you didn't mind but damn Benny had already done a number on the mutt and it hadn't said shit. When Dean twisted the blade the rugaru stammered out that Cas was near the river. Dean looked back at you and you nodded "We know where it is"
He turned back to the rurgaru and slammed a blade up under its chin before it could blink. Dean snatched the blade free once the rugaru went still then looked back at you "How far?" "Bout a day" he nodded "Then lead the way"
--------------
When you got to the clearing the rugaru had pin pointed you spotted a fugure crouched by the water and nudged Dean. "Cas!" He called out before moving towards him.
You followed Dean, feeling Benny's hand at your lower back to keep you steady should you slip. You watched while Dean hugged Cas. When the angel's eyes found yours they widened so you smiled "Hey Cas"
"How are you here?" He asked and before you could open your mouth Benny replied "The portal you got her sucked into?" You shot him a look so he quieted down.
Dean introduced Benny to Cas and the moment he did Benny asked "Next question, whyd you bail on Dean?" "Dude!" Dean warned but Benny shook his head "Way me and Nix heard the moment you two hit monster land, hot wings here took off. I figure he owes backstory" you had to admire how Benny went from holding you being stuck against Dean to questioning Cas on behalf of Dean.
"I'm sure Cas had his reasons" You tried and Dean nodded "We were surrounded, some freak jumped him and he kicked its ass, right?" your smile fell when Cas replied "No. I ran" "You ran away?" Your own anger flared at that.
Cas explained how Leviathan were hunting him, that he had a price on his head. When Dean got Benny to explain the escape hatch Cas said he wouldn't go until Dean said he wasn't leaving without him. Benny spoke up "One thing clear" he pointed to you "I'm getting her out of here no matter what" you felt both other men's eyes on you and after a moment met their gaze Cas nodded "Ok, I'll go"
Tumblr media
You honestly were on the verge of screaming. Benny and Dean argued like children, sprinkle in Cas going on ramblings about the metaphysics of killing a monster in monster heaven you were starting to wonder if whatever kept you from having to sleep in purgatory would also keep you from getting a migraine.
After comments like "undead blood junkie" and retorts of "Scared I'm gonna eat your little piggies?" you finally stopped dead in your tracks causing all three men to look at you "Nix?" Benny and Dean both questioned, assuming you'd heard something they missed.
You crossed your arms "I'm sick of you two. Dean, Benny has kept me alive for this long. I know his past, I know why he quit drinking humans and I fucking trust him. He'll do the right thing when we get out of here"
Before Benny could let the smug smirk slip onto his face you spun on him "Benny, Dean has known me my entire adult life and most of my teens. You have to admit I was skeptical of you at first. He has reasons to be cautious about springing a vamp. Now both of you shake hands or I swear I'm kicking the shit out you both and Cas will take my side"
The fact that both of them cut their eyes at Cas only for him to shrug "I agree with her" a sigh left them both Dean and Benny before they offered their hands at the same time. You smiled when they shook "There? See"
-------------
It took a total of two months after you found Cas to make it to where the portal was supposed to be. It wouldn't have taken so long but the constant run from Leviathan hadn't helped.
You stood there as Dean pulled a blade out of his jacket "You two ready? Like we talked about?" You nodded so Dean handed you the blade while him and Benny both rolled their sleeves up. Somewhere along the way, the mistrust and inherit hatred turned into a deep bond between the two of them. They were actually friends. They'd also decided together they'd rather risk Dean dragging Benny's soul over should something go wrong.
Benny looked at you and smiled slightly before telling Dean "Putting a lot of trust in you here brother" Dean smiled "You earned it" they gripped each other's arms and Benny winked at you "See yall on the other side"
Watching Benny disappear into Dean's arm was kind of weird but then again what wasn't weird in your life. Dean rolled his sleeve back down despite the glow under his skin that was Benny then nodded to you and Cas "Let's go"
-------------
You'd almost made it to the portal when Leviathan attacked. You all three were thrown in different directions. You rolled to your feet, slashing the nearest Leviathans head off as Dean and Cas took out the other two.
Dean grabbed your arm "Cmon!" He nodded to Cas. The moment you got close enough to the portal Dean told you to go. You ran through it and after a moment Dean appeared behind you..without Cas. "Where's Cas?" He looked backwards where the portal had disappeared "He didnt make it through"

BETWEEN THE LINES ⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
pairing: hunter!dean x huntress!reader
warnings: dean winchester x huntress!reader, enemies to lovers, bickering, teasing, dean being a lil perv, comfort, fluff, dean being vulnerable, 2.3k words
Tumblr media
Dean’s Impala rolled to a stop, headlights cutting through the night as he pulled into the lot of a seriously sketchy-looking motel. You glanced at the flickering neon sign—“Motel Haven”—and sighed, trying not to roll your eyes too hard. Classic Dean move.
"Of all the motels, Dean," you muttered, climbing out of baby and slamming the door harder than you intended to. He walked around the car, his face lighting up with that familiar smug grin. "You don't like my choice in accommodations, sweetheart?"
You shot him a glare sharp enough to cut through steel. "You know I hate when you call me that," You huffed. "Yeah, I know," he replied with a grin that made you want to slap it right off his face.
You gritted your teeth, fighting the urge to say something that would start an argument you didn't have time for. If it weren’t for Bobby literally demanding you two to work together, you’d be counting down the days until you could go back to your solo hunts. But here you were, chasing down reports of a rogue werewolf pack in a small town, stuck working together despite the mutual dislike.
To you Dean Winchester was infuriating, arrogant, and absolutely full of himself. And the worst part? He was damn good at what he did, which only made you dislike him more.
You quickly followed him into the motel office, where the bored-looking clerk barely acknowledged your presence. Dean asked for a room, and after a moment, the clerk handed him a single key.
"Only one room left," the man nagged, sounding as though he couldn't care less. "Double bed." Dean suppressed a groan and glanced over at you, looking like you might actually punch someone. Just then your patience snapped. "You've got to be kidding me," you said, voice laced with disbelief. "There's nothing else?"
"Nope," the clerk replied, his monotone voice sending a wave of irritation through you. "Take it or leave it." Dean shrugged, as if this wasn't the worst news you’d heard all day. He grabbed the key from the counter and turned to you with that insufferable smirk. "Looks like we're bunking together, sweetheart."
You grabbed your bag and stormed out. Just when you thought this job couldn’t get worse. The idea of sharing a room with Dean Winchester was already bad enough, but a bed? This was some kind of sick joke.
When you two walked into the room, it was worse than you’d expected. The double bed took up most of the space, leaving little room for anything else. You could feel Dean's eyes on you as you both realized the inevitable.
He was the first to break the silence. "Guess we'll be getting cozy tonight," he said, trying to hide his amusement. You shot him a sneering glare. "You lay one finger on me, and I'll break it."
Dean just chuckled, tossing his bag onto the bed and kicking off his boots. "Relax, princess. I'll stay on my side." You wanted to punch him. Instead, you grabbed your bag and headed for the bathroom. Once inside, you shut the door behind you, not realizing that it snapped back just a little, leaving it slightly ajar.
You needed to change into something comfortable and try to ignore the fact that you were about to spend the night in the same bed as the most irritating man you’d ever met. Dean stretched on the mattress with his hands behind his head, and couldn't help but glance toward the door when he heard you moving around.
Through the slit in the door, he caught a glimpse of you slipping out of your tight jeans and into a pair of loose-fitting pajama pants. Your shirt came off next, replaced by a simple tank top that hugged you in ways that made his heart stop. Dean's eyes lingered longer than he intended, drawn to the way your body moved with unconscious grace.
You were still trying to push down the anxiety that was beginning to bubble up inside you. It was just one night. You could handle it. You could handle anything. But you couldn't shake the feeling of being watched.
That's when you noticed him. But it wasn't until you turned fully and caught his eye through the crack in the door that Dean realized he'd been staring. His heart skipped a beat as he quickly looked away. For a second, you froze, a mix of surprise and something you didn't want to name running through you. Then, annoyance took over.
"Really, Dean?" You said, voice cutting through the silence. You could see the way he flinched, like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar. "Didn't think you were that much of a pervert." Dean's face turned red, and he stammered out some half-baked excuse. "I—uh, I wasn't just—"
"Save it," you interrupted, stepping out of the bathroom with a satisfied grin. "You're not as sneaky as you think, Winchester." He looked so flustered, so unlike his usual cocky self. Dean groaned, cursing himself for getting caught. He could feel his face burning with embarrassment, something that rarely happened to him, and the fact that you were obviously enjoying this only made it worse.
The great Dean Winchester, brought down by a little harmless teasing. "Oh, this is rich," you continued, unable to resist twisting the knife just a little. "Dean Winchester, the big bad hunter, getting all flustered over a little peek. Who knew you could get so shy?"
Dean's jaw tightened, and you could tell he was struggling to regain his composure. "I wasn't flustered," he mumbled, his voice lacking its usual confidence. "Just surprised, that's all."
"Uh-huh," you replied, letting the moment stretch out just a little longer before finally dropping it. "Sure you were." You climbed into bed beside him, still grinning, and Dean felt the mattress dip under your weight. The closeness was suddenly overwhelming. It wasn't that he hadn't noticed you before—he had.
You were tough, smart, and definitely attractive. But you were also infuriating, always pushing his buttons, always getting under his skin. So the fact that he was attracted to you only made things more complicated.
Finally getting into bed, you stretched out as much as possible to keep your distance, but it didn’t help. The bed was just too small, and you could feel him lying next to you, close enough that it was hard to ignore his presence.
The room fell into silence, which only made the whole situation feel stranger. Trying to ignore him wasn’t working, and after a few long minutes, you couldn’t hold in the thoughts that had been building up in your head. "Why do we do this?" You asked, your voice softer than he'd ever heard it. Dean turned his head to look at you, his expression unreadable. "Do what?"
"This," you said, waving a hand around vaguely. "This life. Hunting. It's dangerous, it's lonely...it's hell, half the time. Why do we keep doing it?" You haven’t meant to ask him that, hadn't even meant to bring it up, but now that the words were out, you couldn't take them back. And somehow, you found yourself genuinely wanting to know his answer.
Dean didn't answer right away. You could see the gears turning in his mind. It was a question he'd asked himself more times than he could count, but hearing it from you somehow made it feel heavier, like the answer actually mattered.
When he finally spoke, his voice was quieter, more thoughtful than you’d ever heard it. "Because it's all we know. Because we're good at it. And because if we don't, who will?"
You nodded, considering his words. "Yeah, I guess that's part of it. But sometimes I wonder...what if there's more to life than this? What if we're missing out on something better?" He turned to face you, his eyes surprisingly gentle. "You think about getting out?"
"Sometimes. But it's not like I have anywhere else to go. This life...it's all I've got." Dean sighed, and you could tell that he understood exactly what you meant. He definitely knew that feeling all too well. This life had taken over both of you in ways that were hard to explain. And yet, here you were, still in it together.
"It's not all bad," Dean said after a moment, trying to lighten the mood. "I mean, you've got me for company, right?" You rolled your eyes, yet not being able to hold back the small smile that tugged at your lips. "Lucky me."
Both of you fell silent again, but this time it felt different, less tense. Dean could feel the connection between you, something deeper than the constant teasing and bickering that usually defined your relationship. It was like you were finally seeing each other, really seeing each other, for the first time.
Dean hesitated before he shifted. You felt the mattress dip as he moved closer, your body stiffening, not sure what to expect, but then you felt his hand brush against yours under the covers. He expected you to pull away, but you didn't. Then, almost instinctively, you turned your hand over and laced your fingers through his.
The gesture was simple, but it felt like so much more.
"Y/n," he said softly, his voice barely more than a whisper. "Yeah?" You whispered back, heart pounding in your chest. "I know we drive each other crazy," he began, his words slow and genuine. "But...you're a hell of a hunter. And you're tough. And smart. And...I respect the hell out of you, even if it doesn't always seem like it."
His words took you by surprise, and for a moment, you didn't know how to respond. But then you looked at him, really looked at him, you realized that he meant every word. "I respect you too, Dean," you said quietly. "Even when you're being a cocky bitch sometimes." He chuckled softly, and you could feel some of the tension in the room fade. "Fair enough."
Both of you stayed like that, hands entwined, a strange but comforting closeness settling between you. In that moment, something shifted. There was still the banter and the usual irritation, but now you saw something deeper—a real connection you hadn’t expected.
Eventually, you moved even closer, resting your head on his shoulder. Dean stiffened at first, but then he relaxed, letting himself enjoy the closeness. It wasn't often that he allowed anyone to see this side of him. And for a moment it was strange how natural it felt to be this close to Dean, the man who had driven you insane since the day you two met. Yet, here you were, enjoying being close to each other.
Your mind drifted back to the hunts you had been on together, the near misses, the arguments, the unspoken tension that always seemed to hang between you. It was easier to keep your walls up, to push each other's buttons instead of admitting that maybe, just maybe, there was something more beneath the surface.
Dean was really letting himself fall into the comfort of your touch, then turned his head slightly to look down at you. "You know," he began, his voice quivering lightly, "you're not alone, y/n. I know it feels like that sometimes. But you've got people who care about you. Bobby, me... Even if we don't always show it."
The sudden sincerity in his words caught you off guard, and you felt a lump form in your throat. You weren’t used to this, to hearing someone say they cared about you. It wasn't something that you heard often. But here was Dean, saying the words you hadn’t realized you needed to hear. "Thanks," you whispered, voice thick with emotion. "That means a lot."
Both of you lay in silence, the weight of the words hanging in the air between you. You felt a strange sense of peace settle over you, a feeling you hadn't experienced in a long time. It wasn't just the comfort of being close to someone physically; it was the comfort of knowing that you weren’t as alone as you sometimes felt.

I asked ChatGPT to write me a Dean Winchester x Reader fanfic and here’s the result~
———ChatGPT———
Sure, here's a Dean Winchester x reader fan fiction story:
Title: The Huntress and the Hunter
Summary: You and Dean Winchester are on a hunt to take down a powerful demon, but things take an unexpected turn when you find yourselves trapped in a small cabin during a snowstorm.
Word count: 1,200 words
---
You and Dean Winchester had been on the road for weeks, hunting down a powerful demon that had been wreaking havoc in a small town in the middle of nowhere. It had been a tough hunt, with the demon constantly eluding you and leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. But finally, you had tracked it down to a small cabin in the woods.
The demon was nowhere to be seen, but you knew it was close. You and Dean split up, searching the cabin for any sign of the demon. But before you could even take another step, the door slammed shut, and the sound of heavy chains being locked echoed through the cabin.
"Damn it!" Dean cursed, trying to pry the door open. "We're trapped."
You sighed, knowing that you were in for a long night. But then you remembered the stash of whiskey that you had packed in your bag, and you knew that it was going to be a lot longer than you had initially thought.
Hours passed, and the storm outside grew worse, the wind howling and the snow piling up against the cabin walls. But you and Dean were warm and comfortable inside, the whiskey flowing freely as you shared stories and laughed about past hunts.
As the night wore on, the fire in the fireplace dwindled, and the room grew colder. You and Dean huddled together for warmth, his arm draped around your shoulders. You could feel his breath on your neck, his body pressed up against yours, and a warmth spread through your body that had nothing to do with the fire.
You turned to face him, your eyes meeting his in the dim light of the dying fire. There was something there, something that had been building between you for a while now. You had always felt a connection to Dean, a spark that ignited whenever you were near him. And now, with the snow falling outside and the demon lurking somewhere in the shadows, that spark had turned into a flame.
Without a word, Dean leaned in, his lips finding yours in a gentle, tentative kiss. You responded eagerly, your hands reaching up to tangle in his hair, pulling him closer. His hands roamed over your body, exploring every inch of your curves, and you moaned into his mouth, lost in the sensation.
The storm raged on outside, but inside the cabin, there was nothing but heat and desire. You and Dean shed your clothes, the cold air forgotten as you pressed your naked bodies together. He lifted you up, laying you down on the floor in front of the dying fire, and he took you with a ferocity that left you breathless.
You cried out his name as he moved inside you, the pleasure building to a fever pitch. And when you finally reached your peak, you clung to him, your body shuddering with the force of your orgasm.
The storm outside had long since passed, the sun rising on a new day, but you and Dean remained tangled together on the cabin floor, lost in a haze of passion and desire.
---
I hope you enjoyed the story!

Stuck on you
Tumblr media
Summary: Dean can be annoying as fuck. But you're stuck on him.
Pairing: Alpha!Dean Winchester x Omega!Reader (fem)
Warnings: a/b/o, needy Dean, annoying Dean, fluff, cuddling & snuggling
Tumblr media
“Dean, can you just not?” You groan and roll your eyes as Dean paces around the library. He glances at the book in your hands like it's an enemy he wants to kill. “What?”
“Do you read that book or just look at it?” He cocks his head when you slam the book shut. Crap, you’re mad.
“Dean Winchester, there are no pictures in the book. Do you think I just stare at the words and wait for them to crawl inside my brain?”
“That’s a funny thought,” he nods slowly. “Imagine, the words just jump at you and nestle in your brain. Would be cool.”
“You’d find it cool only because you hate reading,” you point the book at him. “Now stop distracting me. I try to get this essay done.”
“Why do you write an essay?” He sits on the table to run his fingertips over your thigh. “We could have a movie night or dinner in bed.”
“I need to finish this one because I want that degree,” you stick your tongue out when he rolls his eyes. “Remember, I told you that I want to be more than a huntress one day. The degree is important to me, and I expect you to support me.”
“I do, but—” his eyes drop to your cleavage, and Dean forgets what he wanted to say. He’s close to his rut and in need of cuddles. Dean is simply too proud to ask you to stop reading and start taking care of your alpha.
“Why did I let you claim me again?” You grin at Dean. He tries to hide his neediness and fails epically. You’re an evil bitch and love to tease your alpha. “I can’t believe my alpha is not supporting me.”
“Sweetheart,” he stammers. “I always support you. You know that. It’s just…I need … uh … your help with something.”
“How about you go to your Dean cave and let me read for another hour?” You fake that you are angry and pout. You need Dean to leave so you can take care of him later.
Dean sighs deeply but nods.
“Fine,” he hangs his head and hops off the table. Dean leaves the library without trying to get you to follow him. He knows when he’s not wanted…
Tumblr media
“Why are you calling me? We live in the same place,” Dean asks while walking toward your shared room. He pouts as he enters the room. “Y/N?”
You hang up the phone to pat the spot next to you on your bed. “I thought we could have a movie night and…” You lick your lips, “I’m in need of cuddles and I brought all the nice blankets here.”
“Cuddles, huh?” He closes the door, considering his next step. The book you read lies abandoned on your nightstand. He glares at it and sticks his tongue out. “I’ll give the best cuddles and hugs.
“I know, alpha,” you croon. “Why don’t you come over here and show me how good you can cuddle me.”
Dean cockily smirks. He kicks off his shoes and strips his clothes off.
“I will cuddle you so good you’ll be a mess when I’m done with you.”
You chuckle. “I meant cuddling, not sex.”
He crawls onto the bed and under the covers to pounce on you. You end up on top of Dean, with his arms slung tightly around your body.
“Better?”
“Better,” he nuzzles you. “I have missed you today, sweetheart. Is all.”
“You’ve got me, Dean. Always…”

Dean snuck a glance at you only to quickly look away when you looked up from your lore book. In return, you snuck a peek at him but pretended you were looking at something else when he lifted his head from one of the hunter’s journals he’d found in storage.
Sam had watched this infuriating dance happen at least twelve times by now and it was getting on his last nerve. At first, he thought it was hopeful. Then heartbreaking. Now it was just damn aggravating, more so because he knew his older brother was being his usual stubborn self. All he needed to do was come out and apologize already, and Dean knew that yet still refused to budge an inch.
You and Dean had gotten into an argument during the last hunt. He’d been upset that you had taken on three vamps by yourself—something you had done back in your high school days, along with killing other creepy things that slithered out of the dark. You were perfectly capable of taking care of yourself, which you had proven multiple times, and you knew when to ask for help. Dean didn’t want to hear it, claiming you could have been killed had he and Sam not been close by. You both dug in your heels no matter what Sam said, and you two were still at an impasse, giving each other the silent treatment. Still, that didn’t stop the longing glances Dean gave you when you weren’t looking, or the sad looks you gave him when he was none the wiser. It was driving Sam nuts. He had never met two people who were so stubborn—aside from his parents, of course—and now that he thought about it, stubborn or not, you and Dean were well-suited for one another.
“You know,” Sam broke the silence. “At some point, you two are going to have to talk to each other again.”
Dean shot him a surreptitious glare. You had no problem offering a withering glare of your own.
“Look,” Sam continued. “Y/N is right, she can take care of herself and if she needs our help, she’ll say something.” At your triumphant smile, Dean’s gaze darkened.
“No one asked you to butt in, Sammy,” he warned.
Sam nearly rolled his eyes. “If I don’t, this won’t get resolved because you both are too hard-headed to make the first move. Y/N,” Your eyes darted over to him. “My idiot brother won’t say it but the reason he got upset is because he’s scared.”
Dean’s free hand clenched into a fist and he gave a subtle shake of his head. Sam ignored him and continued, “He’s scared something is going to happen to you and he won’t be there to stop it. That’s why he freaked out that night. He’s not trying to tell you what to do or be a controlling jerk. He just wants you to be safe, that’s all.”
You bit your lip and turned your attention to Dean, who suddenly seemed very interested in the book in his lap. “Is that true?”
After a moment, he ground out, “Yeah. It’s true.”
You stood up, letting the book in your own lap fall to the ground with a heavy thud, and made your way over to Dean. You ripped the book out of his hands, tossed it to the floor, ignored Sam’s irritation at your carelessness with such old tomes, and crawled into Dean’s lap, his hands instantly coming around you to support you. You wrapped your arms around his neck and leaned down to kiss him. You felt him immediately begin to relax under your touch and only when his lips were completely pliant and moving with yours did you pull back, staring into his green eyes.
“Why couldn’t you just tell me that?”
He slid his hand up your back and to your hair, tenderly rubbing the strands between his fingers. “I don’t know. I just… That vamp had you in a hold and it scared the crap out of me when I couldn’t reach you fast enough. What if he had gotten more of a drop on you? What if—”
You gently placed your fingers against his lips, stopping him from finishing that question. “He didn’t. I killed my first vamp at 12, took out my first nest when I was 16. Hunting’s in my blood just as much as it is yours. I know what I’m doing.” You ran your fingers through his hair reassuringly, scratching at his scalp, and watched him lean into the touch. “But if you want, we can talk about it. We’ll come up with a plan that makes you feel better and works for both of us. Okay?”
He gave you a dopey smile that melted your heart. The magic touch had worked; the tension from before had finally lifted. “Okay, baby. Sounds good to me.”
You kissed him again, this time with a little more passion. “You know what else sounds good?” You murmured to his lips when you both needed a breath.
Those green eyes you loved so much immediately lit with an all-too familiar fire. “Do tell.”
You leaned in and whispered your plan into his ear, making sure Sam wouldn’t overhear. By the time you pulled back, he was grinning like crazy. Clearing his throat, he helped you off of his lap and back onto your feet as you both turned to face Sam, a mischievous smirk fighting its way onto your face. You knew that would get him going.
“Actually, I just remembered I left the…stove on in the kitchen. And Y/N here has to go call Jody to…give her an update on the case and how it’s going.”
Sam gave you both a look; he wasn’t buying it. You turned and gave the same look to Dean. He really hadn’t come up with anything better than that? “I hate you.”
“You have a weird way of showing that,” he teased, subtly rubbing up against you and smirking. This man was so lucky you loved him.
You shook your head and looked away, your cheeks growing hot. The bastard was turning you on even more and he knew it. It’d been almost two weeks, the longest you’d gone without since — well, since meeting him.
Sam was the one to clear his throat this time. “Whatever. Happy you both are talking to one another again. Now, go do what you’re going to do but just not in front of me, please. Okay? And you’re welcome.”
Dean shot Sam a look but he was too happy to care what Sam was intimating about his being the one who settled things between the two of you. He gave his younger brother a wide smile. “If you need us, we’ll be…” He trailed off, gesturing to the hallway that led to the rooms.
“Oh my God,” you muttered in embarrassment as you grabbed his hand and pulled him after you.
“Oh, hey!” Sam yelled. “Keep out of my room this time, Dean. I mean it!”
“Yeah, yeah,” Dean called back.
You had just turned the corner when Dean immediately had you up against the wall, kissing you passionately and picking you up, prompting you to wrap your legs around his waist. When you pulled back for air, your brow furrowed in confusion at seeing Dean move past his door. “Dean,” you panted. “Where are you going? You just passed your room.”
“Yeah,” he chuckled.
“Okay, then where are you taking me?”
His smirk was so wicked you knew what the answer was before he said it. “Sammy’s room.”
“Dean, are you kidding me? No!”
“Relax, we won’t be in there long.”
“You know how upset he was last time and he just said—”
Dean came to a stop and kissed the crap out of you, effectively silencing you. You may have been a little dazed when he finally let you get some air. “He’s got the better bed and I want the very best for you, baby.” He then gave you a salacious smirk and leaned in. “Plus I know how much you love that headboard.”
He waggled his eyebrows at you as certain memories replayed in your mind. You were able to hold onto that headboard for a long time, it held you up well, and same for Dean…oh shit. Sorry, Sam.
“What are you waiting for?” You bit out impatiently, slipping your tongue into his mouth and swallowing his chuckle. As he walked you into Sam’s room, shutting and locking the door behind him, you made a mental note to later google the hell out of this headboard and find one for Dean’s bed.

Pac-Man Fever: Part Two
Pairing: Dean Winchester x Female!Reader
Word Count: ~2k
Warnings: canon angst and violence
Author’s Note: I do not own anything from Supernatural. All credit goes to their respective owners. Any and all comments on these are appreciated.
Tumblr media
Google Maps says it's only a three hour drive from where you are to Topeka, but Dean makes the drive in two. You're ready to examine the body and get out, but you have a feeling this isn't going to be as smooth as you hope it will be.
Dr. Jennifer O'Brien is the coroner responsible for releasing the body to others. You have to ask her for permission before you see it, so that's the first stop you make. You knock on the door and wait for her response.
"Come in."
You three enter and flash her your badge, but Charlie is so new to this that she holds her badge upside down, much like Castiel did when he first started. You look at her and do a double take, grabbing her badge and fixing it immediately.
"Hi, I'm Special Agent Hicks, this is my partner Special Agent Ripley and Robin. We're here about the body with the creamy filling."
"Ah, right. I didn't think you guys would have any interest in that."
"FBI, ma'am, we never leave a stone unturned. Mind if we take a peek?"
"Of course not. I just need your signed chain of custody request and it's all yours."
"Excuse me?"
"Chain of custody request? From your supervisor to mine?" Jennifer raises her eyebrows.
"You know what." He takes out a business card that has Sam's number on it, and passes it over to her. "Do you wanna call my supervisor? I'm sure he can give you the override or whatever."
"Yeah, I'm sorry. Unless he can give me the form, I can't give you access to the body. Paperwork is paperwork."
Looks like she won't be giving up the body, so you'll either have to get one of those forms or break in after the place closes.
"Thank you for your time."
You three leave before you press the issue even more and get in real trouble.
"That never happened in the books," Charlie quips.
"It's okay. We'll come back later when she isn't here anymore."
"Oh, perfect. Breaking and entering."
"It's no different than hacking."
"Beg to differ. One, I've been doing since I was a teenager. The other I've done once, with you three idiots walking me through it, and I had my arm broken in the process."
"Which I healed. I say that's a win," you shrug.
"What did you hack when you were a teenager?"
"Uh, NORAD."
"Right. There's nothing we can do but wait at this point. I say we get something to eat. Sounds good?" you ask and head to the car without waiting for their responses.
Charlie isn't for this idea, but you have to break in and examine the body without having to go to Jennifer for the form. You're all for it until you hear news of another murder, so you have to deal with that right now instead of going to the ME's office that you know is closed.
Police are already at the scene of the crime: near a railroad where a group of three young boys found the body. They're here as well, but all they're interested in is their video game systems that you're busy playing on.
"Maybe you should go first this time," Charlie says nervously.
"Are you going to shy away everytime you fall? No, not on my watch. Come on, it's your time to shine, huntress."
You three leave the car and head over the first officer you see. Charlie is nervous, so you gently push her towards the officer who turns to her.
"Hey there," she says, flashing her badge upright this time, "I am Special Agent Ripley, these are my partners Hicks and Robin. We're here to talk to your witnesses."
"They're over there."
"Who's the victim?" you ask.
"Jake Hill, librarian. He went missing yesterday with no relation to the other vic. Coroner already swooped in and scooped up what was left of him."
Charlie excuses herself and goes over to the three boys on her own to talk to then. You and Dean hang back, and then your phone rings. Sam's name pops on the screen, and you roll your eyes but answer it.
"Bored yet?"
"You have no idea. Please let me hunt."
"No, Sam. You need to know when to take a step back, and I can only imagine that if it were me or Dean like this, you would force us to hang back."
"Since when have you ever hung back knowing you can help?"
"You can help, Sam. You're helping by watching my kids. If I'm worried about them, I can't do my job. If I can't do my job, then people die. Do you want that to happen?"
"No," he says like a small child.
"Good. Now go make some soup and watch Spongebob with Jo."
"He doesn't know when to stop," Dean shakes his head when you hang up.
"We'd be the same if we were him."
"So, the boys said they noticed something on the body's arm before it covered them in years of future therapy," Charlie says when she gets back. "They said it looked like a blue handprint." She shows you two pictures that the three boys showed her. "Does this mean we don't have to break into the coroner's office anymore?"
"Nice try, Charlie. We're still doing it."
Charlie doesn't like it, but you've all done things you don't like. This is going to be easy given that no one comes in. Your magic unlocks the front door, and you slip in easily without setting off alarms. The three of you walk to the back where the body is being held. You're about to look at it when you see headlights shine into the place.
Someone is here.
"Shit," you curse.
Charlie takes action and runs out to see who it is. She comes back seconds later with a panicked look on her face.
"It's the coroner. I got this."
She disappears again, and you have no choice but to trust her. You and Dean walk into the morgue, and you open the right chamber before pulling out the body. However, there's nothing on the table.
It's empty.
"What the hell?" Dean mutters.
There is paperwork on the desk, and when you rifle through them, you realize why it's empty.
"They burned the bodies."
"Already?"
"Yeah, they think it's some kinda outbreak scenario. She even got the CDC to sign off on it."
"These folks run a tight ship. So, does this mean we can leave or is this still a case?"
"I think I saw something about that mark back in the Bunker. Maybe in your dad's journals."
You take out your phone and snap pictures of the documents before sliding the chamber back where you found it. You two make a quick escape just as Charlie does the same, just through the front door instead of the back door.
"I'm not looking forward to what kind of mess Sam is in with our kids."
Sam didn't burn the Bunker down or tried to leave with the kids, but that's the shocking thing you see when you get inside. Joanna and Sam are watching Spongebob like you requested them to do, but Sam is all dolled up. They must have gotten into your makeup because his face is poorly done (probably by Joanna), and his hair is done with bad braids and clips.
"Don't you look pretty," you laugh, scaring the shit out of Sam. Sam goes to get up, but you quickly raise your hands. "No, don't get up because of me. Continue watching your movie and drinking your tea, princess."
Sam flips you off as you walk into the library where Dean and Charlie are. Joanna whines when Sam gets up to clean himself, but she doesn't move from her spot. The couple is already deep into research by the time you take your seat next to Dean.
Sam comes in a few minutes later free of makeup and hair clips.
"Where's Maryann?"
"Taking a nap. I have her baby monitor with me."
"This could be Leviathans," Dean says.
"No, they consume their prey."
"Well, maybe the vics were Leviathans."
"We killed all of them when we killed Dick, remember?" you state. "Plus, there was no black goo on either scene in the coroner reports."
"What about Dragons--"
"No signs of burns on the vics," Charlie shoots down another monster, crossing off another name on her iPad.
"Wait a second. Djinn," Dean says as if he solved the case.
"Djinn vics don't get liquefied."
"Not regular Djinn." Dean leans forward with a book in his hands. "According to this, there's a bastard offshoot. Their eyes light up blue, they pass as humans, and all that regular jazz, except these leave their victims with jelly-like insides. Supposedly, when they poison their victims, they leave behind a blue handprint."
"Do they die like regular Djinn?" you ask.
"Silver blade dipped in lamb's blood. Now, we just gotta find the asshat."
"Alright, well, breakthrough means snack time to me, and I wanna just stretch my legs. I will pick us up some grub, and unlike you, Sam, I will not forget the pie," Charlie teases.
She grabs her jacket and keys before leaving the Bunker altogether. Sam feels left out, but you don't care about that at this moment.
"Does she seem a little off to you?" Dean asks you.
"Since the second she got here," you say honestly. "Let's give her the benefit of the doubt. We can ask her about it when she comes back."
She never does.
She doesn't even answer your calls after hours of not coming back. Even Sam is trying to call her, but she doesn't answer.
"Any word from Charlie?"
"No, and there was no comic convention in Topeka. Why would she lie to us?" he sighs.
"Only one way to find out." Dean takes out his phone, but you're not sure why. "When I called Sam from her phone, I turned on her GPS. It says she's at home."
"Let's go," you say. Sam wants to come along, but before he can get far, you turn to him with your hand outstretched to him. "No, you're not coming. Stay here, continue to look after the kids, and call us if she comes back here."
Sam has no choice but to stay behind again.
When you get to Charlie's apartment, you're shocked at the state of it. All of her furniture is turned over as if there was a struggle here. Something happened, but you're not sure what.
"Charlie? Are you here?" you call out and search her place with Dean. "She's not here."
"Okay, there is no forced entry, so either it was somebody that she knew, or the Djinn."
You find her phone lying on the floor, and with it, all of your missed calls and voicemails. On the table is her laptop, and you hack into it to see what kind of things she was into.
"She's been making donations through her many aliases to Shawnee County General here in Topeka."
"A charity?"
"A patient. Gertrude Middleton. I can go see her while you keep digging. I'll meet you at the Bunker. Maybe Sam can help you."
Dean agrees and drops you off at the hospital. Using your FBI badge, you are able to see Gertrude by a very nice nurse who seems to like Gertude. Mrs. Middleton is lying in a bed, comatose and on life support.
"What's her story?" you ask the nurse.
"Getrude's been in a persistent vegetative state for sixteen years. About a year ago her condition got worse. This ventilator is the only thing keeping her alive."
"How did this happen?"
"She and her husband were hit by a drunk driver. He didn't make it. They were on their way to pick up their daughter from a sleepover."
"Her daughter?" you ask, thinking of Charlie.
"She was twelve. She got into trouble after her parents' accident. Nobody's heard from her since. Folks have been donating to cover Gertrude's care over the years. It's a sweet gesture, but the truth is, she's gone."
"Did she ever get any visitors?"
"A couple nurses said they thought they saw someone in here reading to her, but nobody's ever officially signed in to visit her. She's all alone. If you'll excuse me, I have to make my rounds."
"Thank you." The nurse leaves, and you approach Gertude's bed cautiously. You know that Charlie is her daughter. It only makes sense why she is in town. "You've got one hell of a daughter, Mrs. Middleton. I promise you I will find her and bring her back to you."
If she can hear you, you know she'd agree with you.
