not to jump on the “later season cas sucked” train, bc i love later season cas so much that’s my pookie but i think the problem is they made him too submissive in a way that’s out of character for both him AND dean. like they introduced him as someone who would not be shoved around and stood up for himself, and his dynamic with dean was often him metaphorically towering over dean in a way because he’s an ANGEL. in later seasons they just made him into a bit of a wet paper towel and made dean way more bossy and way less kind (a fundamental aspect of his character, in my mind). i love a soggy pathetic little meow meow as much as the next guy but i think the show would’ve been much more interesting if cas just stayed the one guy who couldn’t be shoved around by dean.
