Okay but I've read a wonderful fic lately with Cas and Dean ending in a queerplatonic relationship (with ace/aro rep woop woop) and it exactly happened like this. Devotion by Howevernot https://archiveofourown.org/works/29093721

also i'm obsessed with dean like. having a conversation with mary where he explicitly compares his relationship with cas to her relationship with john like. i do think that in dean's brain it makes perfect sense to think of him and cas as Like Married, But Platonic. like to compare them to a romance. and so dean matches mary story for story, one about john for one about cas. and then at the end mary is like "so you two are......." and dean is like "are what?" and mary is like *i died during the reagan administration voice* "........homosexuals?" and dean instantaneously passes away

I know I'm crazy and need to stop thinking about the Supernatural finale but I can’t because I was so focused on how shitty the finale was to Dean that I hadn’t truly gotten mad about how it treated Sam until now and I hate myself for that because SAM!!! Sam, who had been through almost nonstop trauma since he was born, who started the show losing the woman he was in love with, who had his bodily autonomy violated over and over again, who spent at least 180 years being tortured by Lucifer, who died and lost and grieved and bled for the entire show, was supposed to just lose Dean, his brother, the one constant in his life, after losing Cas, who he considered family, and Jack, his child, and be able to move on and live a happy life? Sam deserved so much better. He deserved to grow old with his brother and Cas, marry Eileen, and raise their kids with Jack as their older brother. The ending they gave Sam is what Season 1 Sam would have wanted, not Season 15 Sam. They ignored everything he had been through, everything he had endured, everyone he had met, and all his growth, so he could satisfy his 22-year-old dreams. There is no universe in which this was a happy ending for Sam and I’m so heartbroken about it.

Imagine if Dean and Cas go to get a marriage license and they get to the part where they're asked to confirm that neither of them is married to someone else and Cas pales because he's suddenly remembering that he's been married thrice and there's no proof of annulment or divorce of any.

Dean, Sam and Cas out on a case and someone mistakes Cas for Dean's husband and Dean gets really giddy about it and keeps joking that Cas is the old ball and chain and grabbing his hand while they're walking to swing it obnoxiously and makes teasing remarks to people talking to about the honeymoon ("not that I saw much of the resort with this guy around! ;) hoo!").

Sam is halfway offended and two thirds amused - "what happened to the guy who called me gay for using conditioner?" "Come on Sammy, it's the 21st Century, get with the times. It's just a couple of guys fooling around, it's not hurting anybody."

Castiel is confused but quietly pleased to get attention, and only gets exasperated when Dean keeps interrupting his interrogation to continue the teasing. When Cas drags him to the side to tell him off, Dean loudly proclaims "looks like I'm sleeping on the couch tonight!"

Eventually the original person who was mistaken finds out that Cas is an angel and that they're not FBI through the traumatic events of the case, and goes "you're not married, are you?" and (bubble burst) Dean gives a weak smile and a shrug "I don't think I'm exactly husband material. Monster bait material, that I've got down."

In the boys moment, Sam comments that Dean seemed really happy messing around with Cas, and Dean goes "yeah, well. Guess married life just aint for me. Give me the open road any day." But the episode ends zooming in on Dean fiddling with one of his rings as they drive away.

No but seriously she totally is? Subconsciously there's a space for him in her life always. I know I keep saying this, but she totally has feelings for him, buried inside her. What those feelings actually are is something she has to figure out. (She started that journey in BJBJ; she even got to face him and banish him and all. Did that manage whatever feelings she has for him though? Nope).

She's sleeping alone and yet she's leaving all that space next to her like she's sleeping with a spouse. The visual storytelling here implies she's longing for someone to take that space.

And who else is she longing for if not Betelgeuse? It's not Richard, hello. Ok it's past midnight and I'm exhausted so maybe I'm reaching. But this makes sense to me rn so I'm posting.
