Probably better off a personal post, but I figured you'd get a kick out of this:
I want to believe the Founding Families of TVD's past have some intricate stories since they leave behind mysteries that we only see solved in in the 21st century. And I like to make some hidden history:
In TVD 3x17, we learn that Meredith Fell had Samantha Gilbert's journal via her grandmother. Typically we assume they (Founding Families) just took her belongings after her death or at least the Gilbert Family would've. But instead, it was a Fell (whom I called "Marjorie Ann Fell") who had it - or rather, she inherited the diary from her mother ("Margaret Ruth Fell"), Meredith's great-grandmother.
Here's what I think happened: Samantha and Margaret were in love in 1912. Samantha worked as a bookkeeper and Margaret worked as a nurse at an asylum - though her family didn't initially approve. While she worked in the daytime, Samantha was an avid vampire hunter at night and used her family heirloom, The Gilbert Ring, to come back to life. However, when the ring took a toll on her psyche after reviving many times - creating an alter ego and killing members of the council - Samantha kept a diary of her spiral & worried she'd hurt the woman she loved. Her nightmare eventually came to head 10 years later in 1922 when she nearly killed Margaret. Full of remorse, she told her about what she was going through, which helped piece together that she was the killer. Margaret convinced Samantha to reveal the truth about the ring to the council, which was how she ended up in the asylum Margaret worked at and even got assigned as her nurse. Samantha struggled from the negative side effects of the ring with Margaret by her side until one day it became too much. She has a breakdown and cried in tears, professing her love and making her promise to keep her diary safe should anything happen to her. Tearfully understanding Samantha was at her limits, she professed her love back and took her diary. That night, Samantha took the knitting needles used during the day and killed herself via forced lobotomy and died of blood loss. Margaret, as her nurse, was questioned but ultimately quit due to losing the love of her life at 36. Another 10 years later in 1932, she had her daughter, Marjorie Ann (Meredith's grandmother) at 46. She died in the 1960 and left Samantha's diary to her in hopes that if the Gilbert Rings - that was given to Samantha's next of kin despite her disapproval - ever caused the same problems that cost Samantha her life, a Fell would ensure it got to the right person to prevent it from happening again...
As it did in 2010 with Alaric Saltzman.
Now, wouldn't this romance be in Samantha's diary? I would think that, but in typical forbidden romance fashion, I believe Margaret tore out any pages implying their love. Perhaps there would be a time when people like her and Samantha would be accepted, but in the time period they lived, the risk of anyone knowing was too great.
(Heads up, in Legacies S1, the Necromancer summoned a witch to get him the knife he needed. I dated her outfit - she was very likely from the 1910s and I wouldn't be surprised if she manipulated Samantha to kill Zachariah Salvatore. He was probably related to or covered up her death and used Samantha as revenge. Yeah, that's what I'm going with!)
So, what do you think?
Honestly I don't have super strong opinions on this, but I like the idea of Meredith's grandmother being in love with a Gilbert. The way you describe their story is so compelling and giving star crossed lovers. Reminds me of Stelena. I love a good forbidden romance.

If you wanna compare Caroline and Liv's romances with Tyler, I feel like it should matter how they ended.
Caroline chose to help Tyler through his first Full Moon and it ended with her choosing to betray him by sleeping with Klaus (not to mention the disrespect to the dead)
Liv saved Tyler from triggering his werewolf curse a second time and the relationship ended because of Liv trying to get vengeance for her brother Luke by trying to kill Kai.
Tyler forgave both, but Liv last act was choosing to give her life to save him one last time.
I felt that Caroline was his first love, but Liv's last act was putting Tyler first.
(I could have said it was hypocritical that Tyler tried to stop her from killing Kai as Caroline tried to stop him from going after Klaus, but I don't because that's the point: Tyler has been in Olivia's place and - for a minute - Tyler understood how Caroline could ask him to choose her over vengeance. But the endgame is Tyler learning from the past and not wanting to see a loved one repeat it.)
It does matter, but I wasn't comparing the romances as a whole, just a very specific part of them. Among other things, I haven't reached either break-up in my rewatch, and I'm reacting to what I've seen and trying not to get ahead of myself, in case my perspective on something has changed with hindsight.
If I was to compare them as a whole, I'd say that at the core of it, was that one was a relationship where Tyler loved more than he was loved (Caroline), and the other one where Tyler was loved more than he loved (Liv). That accounts for... everything.
I do agree that in certain ways Tyler was in "Caroline's" position when it came to Liv. The above is part of it: Tyler responded to Caroline-the-person, while with Liv, he responded to what Liv did for him (I'd say something similar regarding Stefan-Caroline-Tyler, for example. Or Stefan-Elena-Damon). Not cynically, not consciously, but because in each situation they were at a low point where that boost of self-esteem, being the recipient of such genuine devotion, meant a lot to them.
You seem to have a more generous view of Tyler dropping Liv than I did, though. Again, I don't want to get ahead of myself before reaching that point, but I've always lumped that action with "things the Tyler I loved WOULD NOT have done", before his regression in season five. We'll see what I think about it this time around.
I'm also side-eyeing your wording when it comes to Klaroline, tbh. First, I feel you're glossing over certain consent issues in that scene –just because it ended up benefiting her narrative immensely (which is what I care about most at the end of the day), or because she reframed what happened for her own peace of mind, doesn't mean they weren't there.
Second, you're making it sound as if Caroline did it vindictively or to hurt Tyler and I just... don't think she thought of Tyler at all. Which, from a Tyler-centric perspective, it's very easy to argue that's worse!
I'm not touching the "disrespecting the dead" bit because. I mean. My own morals would stop me from fucking just about anybody in the show AND it's something that does make me look down on everyone that sleeps with certain characters, so I get it (and it might be hypocritical on my part, but well, Caroline IS my favourite and I'm fine with that LOL). But at this point, in this 'verse... nobody would fuck anybody if they started thinking like that xDD

Bonus House Words Wednesdays: House Varner
I don’t do House Words Wednesdays as a regular thing anymore, but if I get a request to come up with words for a House and I feel like I have enough to say then I’ll come back to it from time to time. @deafchild2000 requested words for House Varner, so as with House Elesham I say fuck it, here we go. (The list of Houses I’ve done, as always, can be found here.)
House Varner is a noble House of the Reach. We don’t have a ton of information on the family’s foundation or background, but Yandel mentions that the Varners were among those “[m]any noble houses of the Reach [which] trace their ancestry back to Andal adventurers given lands and wives by Garth IX, Merle I, and Gwayne V” (like the Cuys and Roxtons, also prior HWW families). Nor do we know of any historical Varner figures, or moments in which the Varners appeared or impacted certain historical events (apart from a brief mention in Fire and Blood Volume 1, that a Varner maiden was among one of those "thirty-one other nubile maidens" (ugh, F&B) that Lady Samantha Tarly had suggested as suitable potential queens to the young King Aegon III). The Varners do play a somewhat (emphasis on somewhat) larger role in the main novels, although not necessarily in a very positive light: Catelyn notes in ACOK that at the feast for Renly's lords and knights at Bitterbridge, "Lord Varner dandled a serving girl on his lap, nuzzling at her neck while one hand went exploring down her bodice". Still, this same Lord Varner certainly does not seem to have been unwilling to fight: he is one of the captured pro-Stannis lords marched before the Iron Throne after the Blackwater, sporting a shattered knee which he doubtless received during the battle and yet proudly refusing help to walk.
The Varner sigil is a white weasel on ermine. If the sigil feels somewhat familiar (in a specifically Westerosi context, even beyond real-world inspiration), it should: House Florent's sigil is a red-gold fox head encircled by blue flowers on ermine, while prior HWW entry House Rosby uses for its sigil three red chevronels on ermine. As I mentioned before, ermine can be used in heraldry to represent purity, given the ermine's white winter fur. That the Varners would double down on the ermine in their sigil - not only having the base of their shield be ermine-patterned, but sporting a white weasel on top of this base - may suggest that the Varners even more prided themselves on a sense of purity, an unwillingness to be soiled.
So for the Varner words, I went with Honor without Stain. Perhaps the Varners would have seen such words as a play or pun on their initial inheritance from the Sage Kings of House Gardener. They would receive the honor of lands and aristocratic standing without "staining" themselves with the dirt of the Gardener kingdom King Gwayne V joked had been given to these adventurers; they would not abandon their faith in the Seven with their marriage to a native Reach maiden, but presumably would have insisted on the adoption of the Faith, as indeed the Sage Kings did). Similarly, if a Varner maiden was considered suitable for King Aegon III by Samantha Tarly, perhaps this maiden would also have reflected honor without stain, unimpeachable purity suitable for the bride of the Lord of the Seven Kingdoms. Of course, the motto works on an ironic level for our modern Lord Varner: far from embodying a strong sense of personal or political purity, Lord Varner took the opportunity at Bitterbridge to use a servant for his own sexual pleasure and adopted three successive kings as his liege during the the War of the Five Kings.

@deafchild2000 asked me what is my unbiased opinion about Tyler Lockwood so let’s get into this.
Honestly, Tyler had such potential to be a well written character with a well written arc. He started off like a douche, a typical highschool asshole, right? And then he’s suddenyl hit with secrets and mysteries. His abusive father ends up dead (so many people were getting abused in this show). His brother comes into town and turn sout his ass is a werewolf cause he killed someone, and the only way Tyler can be a werewolf is if he kills someone too! And he’s like, what the fuck, I don’t wanna kill anyone. And now he was walking around paranoid and anxious, realizing how easy and quickly he could accidentally kill someone. And then when that actually happens, he has to go through one of the worst transformations I have ever seen. Not to mention the realization of vampires n shit. And THEN Klaus comes and fucks up his life tremendously. Tyler was alpha for two seconds till his entire pack ends up dead. And then his life became a series of running away and being Caroline’s distant boyfriend. Like??
Tyler’s character arc should’ve simply been: an angry teenager, that never felt like he had a place in the world because of his abusive father telling him he aint shit. And when suddenly faced with the supernatural, and him becoming a part of it, he struggles but ends up realziing that being alpha and leading people is what he was supposed to do all along.
It seems as though his arc was going this way, but then it just crumbled, QUICKLY.
The werewolves in TVD was so disappointing overrall. They could’ve utilized them in so so so many ways. The werewolves never seemed like a threat to me, only when they bit a vampire, I guess? But if they bit a main character, we knew they were gonna be fine, especially if Klaus was around. So even then, it’s like, oh well.
The way TVD wrote Tyler’s character (and I could say the same for Jeremy and Matt), made me not care about his characters. Like when Damon killed him in like season 8 (i think), I didn’t give a fuck. I was glad to see him gone, cause why is he still here anyway?? He should’ve died many seasons ago, because the show treated him like he died anyway. We didn’t even see ol dude for a good two seasons before his death.
But overrall, Tyler’s character deserved better and had so much potential. And so did the werewolves in general.

Im writing a supernatural fanfic that's based in Beijing. One of the characters I created are Dragon-Phoenix twins (a boy and girl)...with a twist that the boy is a dragon and the girl is a fire witch. I've heard of interracial couples that have twins that come out two different races rather than share one similar skin tone. I'm debating if I should have the twins being Black/Chinese. Like the girl looks more Chinese while her brother is mixed race. What do you think? Any advice?
Dragon-Phoenix twins: Black and Chinese in “appearance” with dragon and fire powers, respectively
They’re both still very much Chinese and Black because their parents are Chinese and Black. Please make sure you’re not spotlighting their different appearances because it “seems cool.” It may come across as exotifying.
You could always just have siblings where the brother is Black (Or Black & Chinese) and the sister is Chinese, if that’s what you’re going for. Otherwise, why not make them have both Black and Chinese features?
More good points mentioned below!
~Mod Colette
Mixed E. Asian here. Please avoid associating the twin with more Black features with the more animalistic attribute, while the twin with more light-skinned Asian features gets the more human power. Just...make both of them approximately half-and-half in terms of their Black and East Asian features, or better yet, don’t discuss their specific racial feature distribution at all.
Also, the “twins that come out looking like two different races” thing is ridiculously rare, and in terms of the plot, completely unnecessary. Why would you want to associate a certain power/property with a certain race? Let’s avoid that.
~Mod Rina
The only scenario where this would make sense is fraternal twins, but even then, people have very strange expectations of how gene expression works. My sibling and I look slightly different. One of us is slightly more E. Asian passing. The other is slightly more S. Asian passing. However, we have the same skin tone and greatly resemble each other.
I don’t see anything in your story to indicate why having the siblings look like different races is necessary for the story. Without such an explanation, it sounds like you have some strange expectations on what it is to be mixed that have little to do with actual mixed race experiences.
As Rina said, I hope the intention is not to try to match their physical appearances to their respective abilities, because I can’t even begin to explain why that would be wrong.
- Marika

Um, excuse me? Where was this line 2 SEASONS ago!?
Where was this when Alaric banished Jade, Wendy and Diego to Kai's Prison World?
Where was this when Alyssa was unable to find this and almost got banished to Kai's Prison World herself?
Or for Landon and Rafael when they were constantly separated before Salvatore had no choice but to accept Landon after he was murdered and came back a Phoenix!?
To go further back:
Where was this when Henry Benoit was bullied by his peers and Hope was being isolateed by her peers?
I'm just asking because this line is WAY overdue!
preach! say it louder for the people in the back to hear you. I'm glad someone finally said that like eventually but it could've been said like... earlier on in the show but, whatever

OUAT S7: Loving the idea of Cecelia being a wealthy merchant, but during the war, I have a headcanon:
Cecelia was also a smuggler!
Ooooh I love that! Though not so much for personal profit but definitely to provide supplies for her side. (I want to use the word "resistance" but I think that's more applicable to the fight that Henry and Ella and Tiana fight later?) Cecelia would definitely use her skills and connections to get much-needed supplies for King James and Queen Eudora - paving her way for her daughter to fight for justice a generation later.
@queenofglassbeliever you must also have thoughts? :D

Can I issue a challenge for a Moodboard:
David falls into the portal alongside Ursula, Cruella and Maleficent's egg. Waking up after falling in the Land of No Magic, he finds Ursula and Cruella had abandoned the hatched egg.
David finds the newborn baby girl out in the cold and quickly swaddles her in his cloak, calming the baby down and taking responsibility by raising her. He names the baby Stella Noland (for her star birthmark and "no land" with magic.)
This isn’t a moodboard, this is a fic.

I have two hot takes:
1. I don't really have issues with Beremy. In fact, I imagine years later Bonnie and Jeremy laugh about dating and take it in stride they were better off as friends than romantic partners (i.e. Jeremy acted like a romantic partner when friends but not really when they were dating). Further more, Jeremy definitely became a badass supernatural vampire hunter and still doesn't hesitate to keep in contact with Bonnie as she grows into a tale-no-prisoners Bennett Witch.
2. In S8, when Bonnie and Caroline went into Damon's head and encountered Shelia, Liz, and Tyler? I will admit it was a cute take, but I don't recognize it. It was Damon's head of all places, not the real people. He might have gotten Sheila right, sort of, but I imagine Liz and Tyler - the real individuals - would not be anything like what the girls encountered. I don't think Liz would ever hurt Liz, but she was clueless as to what Damon was and who she knew. Tyler...that was basically to make us the viewers get over Damon killing him and I think he'd be much worse or pissed off with Bonnie if HE was the gatekeeper of his guilt or whatever. So, I don't recognize it and if Liz and Tyler came back in real life, it would be such a rude awakening.
1. Me personally, when it comes to Beremy, it’s not even the cheating that bugs me. It’s the fact that it seems like a lot of the times, Bonnie seemed more like Jeremy’s babysitter than his girlfriend. Not exactly like how Elena is Damon’s in the later seasons because Jeremy never acted like Damon did, but there was just this power imbalance which is just ugh to me. I wish they stayed friends the whole time. And Jyler and/or Jeranna could date. While Bonnie could’ve been paired up with either Caroline, Damon, or Luka (they were cute early on).
2. When it comes to Liz, I don’t think a lot about it, but it did suck that she came back only to haunt Care.
And Tyler, oh don’t even get me started on that. I love Bamon, but Bonnie defending that man after he killed Tyler. Like even if he was trying to atone or whatever, that doesn’t mean that Tyler isn’t allowed to hate Damon and want vengeance.

I'm making a fictional Fell Family Tree for a story and....damn, it felt like everyone gets around
kasjhdajch they definitely did! There really was a weird amount of Fell’s though, and they weren’t really featured as a big enough part in the show for us to find out how there are so many when all of them seem to be cousins, but none of them brothers, sisters, parents, kids of characters we know, etc... even though they were a literal “Founding “Family” (even though we know that is all lies, the Bennetts and the Maxwells are the ones who should have been getting celebrated this entire time). It’s so weird! Why so many Fell’s but so little information? I want Fell’s being prominently features in Legacies (hence why I’m such a big fan of the Ethan and Maya are Fell’s theory, because I want more!) so that we can find out a little more about their family.
