Volunteer position

So I contacted the Seattle Deaf/Blind Service Center last week about volunteer interpreting and I finally got a reply about this annual picnic that they host. I'm so nervous about it, I'm scared that I'll mess up relaying information or that I'll be too rusty to understand anyone. I'm so terrified that sometimes if I think about it long enough I start to tear up. But I'm also excited. I have to remind myself that this is what I love doing. I love signing. I love the language and the culture. It's like... The only thing I'm good at. And this is an opportunity to prove to myself that I CAN do it. I can be an interpreter, I can step into the community by myself and make something of it. I can do this. It's been my dream for six years. Not everyone is so lucky to know what they want to spend their life doing, but I have to go back to that place where I first found out. Light that fire inside me and push through all this pain. It's all I have. And I'm not letting go. As a side note, she told me to bring a swim suit in case my DB person wants to play in the water park portion of the park. Like woa. Tactile signing and water. This will be interesting.
