I've been watching Dead ringers for 2 whole months, because I'm really obsessed with this series, and I also didn't quite understand some details in it and to understand them I had to review it a million times :)

I'm sorry, I'm a little bit stupid.

now there will be my thoughts on this series and so on, YOOOO

it really amazes me how much Elliot and Beverly are obsessed with each other in the sense that they can be considered and maybe they really are 2 halves of one whole, despite HOW much they differ in character and preferences (in food, clothing, sexual partners, sexual orientation, and so on).

IT'S UNBELIEVABLE THAT THEY DON'T HAVE THE CONCEPT OF "this is me 🥰😘😄 and this is my sister😎🥳😼," BECAUSE WHEN ELLIOT TELLS BEVERLY THAT SHE KISSED AN ACTRESS THAT BEVERLY LIKES, BEVERLY IS NOT SURPRISED, NOT SHOCKED, NOT ANGRY, NOT EVEN JEALOUS. Because, obviously, this is a long-established practice for them, BUT IT ALSO MEANS THAT THEY ARE COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF EACH OTHER SEPARATELY. It's only with Genevieve's arrival that Beverly wants something on her own, without sharing it with Elliot, (and this infuriates Elliot, because, again, obviously, they had previously shared ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING with each other. absolutely. I repeat, ABSOLUTELY.), Beverly doesn't like it when Elliot just goes into their bathroom while Genevieve is bathing and Elliot immediately says she's not looking. ALTHOUGH THEN ELLIOT ANYWAY "LOOKS" AND ASKS BEVERLY WHAT SHE (Genevieve) IS LIKE. YOU UNDERSTAND!?!??!?!?!

IT'S LIKE BEING ONE PERSON, BUT JUST IMAGINE HOW ONE DAY SUDDENLY YOUR HALF STARTS DOING AND THINKING ABOUT THINGS THAT YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT.

FOR YOU, YOUR PEACEFUL EXISTENCE MEANS KEEPING THINGS AS THEY ARE. THERE IS NO ONE ELSE FOR YOU, JUST YOU AND YOU. HOWEVER, THIS BALANCE IS COLLAPSING AND ANOTHER PART OF YOU IS TRYING TO REGAIN THIS BALANCE. YOU ARE TRYING TO BECOME YOU AGAIN. yes, you are trying to become yourself, and return this balance by invading your sister's personal life, cutting off unnecessary close ties from her, asking her what her girlfriend is like, eavesdropping on how she fucks, trying to imitate it, to become her for a moment.

Elliot warns Beverly that Genevieve doesn't 'live up' Beverly's fantasies. Is it just me or is it weird to know about the sexual fantasies or something of your relatives? It's a little different, probably, but just imagine that you know how your sister or father or mother prefers to fuck. what the fuck. THEY ARE SO FUCKED UP. i deeply love them.

actually, I'm trying to understand which twin is more obsessed with the other. although Elliot expresses this obsession most vividly.

I mean, let's look at how Elliot behaves with Beverly. Elliot can just grab the phone out of Beverly's hands, Elliot can always say something not very good and something frankly rude to Beverly and the maximum that Beverly can answer her is a softened barb and the words "please," "stop" and so on. Elliot absolutely always violates Beverly's personal boundaries, which cannot be said about Beverly in relation to Elliot. what's interesting, Beverly snaps at absolutely everyone in the series, but she never said anything terrible to Genevieve, and even more so to Elliot.

and yet, despite their differences, their common goal was one thing - to change the way women give birth. but even here, Elliot was interested not only in this, but in real and largely illegal research, experiments and solving any fertility problems, as she says. I think even this goal of hers was based on the fact that Beverly was constantly having miscarriages and she couldn't get pregnant in any way.

so, Elliot wasn't lying about how everything she did in her life was for Beverly.

Beverly always wanted to separate herself from Elliot.

I also like and amuse the fact that the main twin was Beverly, despite the fact that she is younger than Elliot. just for a few minutes.

also, obviously, on of the reasons for their codependent and dysfunctional relationship was that neither of them felt whole without the other. Beverly lacks Elliot's confidence, her ability to dilute an overly tense or stuffy atmosphere with her sarcastic expressions or frankly terrible comments and behavior, while Beverly could remain a more reasonable and collected twin. Elliot, it seems to me, admires and is simultaneously amused by how much Beverly is "human" and sincerely beneficent, unlike Elliot herself. maybe they don't like being each other. Elliot doesn't like to be herself when looking at Beverly, just like Beverly when looking at Elliot.

to be with her or to be her, they said.

it's quite cute.

and to be honest, I still don't understand the meaning of the ending. isn't it true that Beverly died and Elliot took her place? although this is unlikely, to be honest. I'm still sure that they would like to kill each other at the same time and still be close to each other, but I don't think either of them is really dead. does it make much sense to go to group therapy sessions and tell everyone that your sister died, and then come back at the end?

in addition, if the twin sitting at the end of the series was Elliot, then………

My God, my thoughts are confused.

interestingly, Beverly talks about the incident with the boat, when they almost lost each other, and Elliot replies that this did not happen. although I think Elliot remembers and knows about it and thought about this moment when she was sitting in the bathroom, wearing glasses. but why does she claim that it didn't happen?

or with this scene, they wanted to show us that because of Beverly's meeting with Genevieve, Beverly and Elliot began to lose each other, as then?

okay, my personal favorite is Elliot. I know I need a therapist, but I felt really sorry for her in that scene when she came home and just went to sleep at the door of Beverly's room.

she called her all the time while Beverly was with Genevieve and at the end of the season, Elliot kept calling Beverly. and it was sweet, how special her relationship with her father seems, that she hugged him and clung to him. Beverly is much cooler in this regard and I don't notice her special affection for any of her parents.

I ALSO REALLY HOPE THAT ALL OF YOU HAVE PAID ATTENTION TO THE EXCEPTIONALLY DELICIOUS FRAMES FROM THIS SERIES. WHAT THE HECK. LOOK AT THIS.

GET IT GET IT?????? It's me when "YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WATCH TONIGHT? LET'S WATCH WHAT YOU'RE DOING WITH YOUR LIFE" thoughts. My God, this silent transmission of the emotions and feelings of the character through the scene is just something. AND THEY WILL USE IT MORE THAN ONCE.

guys, the song "THE RED MEANS I LOVE YOU" was written about them. this is their canonical song, whoever disagrees - agrees. you have your own opinion and I will tell it to you. a truly beautiful frame.

I'm sorry, but I really like the way they sometimes hold hands, as a sign of affection or.. maybe as a sign of reconciliation after a little skirmish and tension in their relationship. at the time before that, Elliot was really upset that Beverly, as it turned out, now didnt want a baby, and Elliot didn't know about it. once again, I say that Elliot was categorically not happy with the fact that now Beverly was not sharing with Elliot ALL the juicy details of her life and plans.

To be honest, at first I didn't even realize that it was Elliot and Beverly, who always slept together. I thought this was some kind of arthouse stuff, hahaha. It's great.

There's no beautiful shot or anything like that, but there's Rachel's definitely GORGEOUS, DIVINE, MOST WONDERFUL CUTE face and I really like Rachel's makeup here, her hairstyle and most importantly, her gaze. Elliot just stands there and watches her sister and her girlfriend too closely. It was weird, but I definitely liked it. There was something about it.

Look at these fucking color combinations. My eyes are experiencing something like an orgasm right now.

Just notice how initially the light in the background was yellow or something, and now it's red.

It's not just the food that looks delicious in this photo. I said what I said.

Yes, sniffing and biting is their thing, okay.

It's really cool that they decided to sort of turn the camera around. This music is also very appropriate. And I really like Rachel's face here again. An almost blunted expression on her face, a feeling of euphoria after another use of magic powder.

I love this moment when it feels like the authors of the series are talking to us through the characters. At the beginning of the series, it seems to me, there was a message for fetishists or just perverts who like to jerk off on this stuff, sexualizing the relationship between brothers and sisters, and even more so if they are twins, then this is a complete collapse. It's the same here. Agnes seemed to be speaking the authors' thoughts, talking to us a little and talking to Elliot a little. The musical accompaniment after that moment really scared me. As I said, it felt like the fabric of reality had been torn. I think the same melody would have played out in my head if I had deliberately pushed someone from a height. Really. It's like playing a cute game, so that after 5 hours of passing in comfort and peace you would see the most terrible and frightening screamer.

you know, Elliot is really cool. she's fucked up, she's incredibly fucked up, crazy, and I'm sure if she were a real person, I'd really hate her and at the same time want to be friends with her or something *wink wink*, but Beverly… Initially, I really liked Beverly, because I considered and consider her very sweet, kind, quite patient at some moments when my own patience would burst in a second, and this really inspires respect for her. In short, she's the perfect partner in crime. I was struck by how calmly she reacted to Elliot's words that she might have killed some old lady. the old lady that both Elliot and Beverly saw. at the very beginning of the season, this woman asked them for change, and Elliot gave her her glasses. definitely, if Elliot is fire, then Beverly is clearly ice. not water. at the same time, incredibly fragile, but resistant enough to pierce someone and not be broken at the first blow, and easily melting in the heat.

it was really hurtful to see. I know it's wrong and that I shouldn't consider Beverly and Elliot's relationship sweet, like they should be together, like it's the right thing. and yet. we can see how in the first frame Elliot has an almost blissful expression on her face as if saying "See? I promised you, baby sister," and in the next photo she seems to remember Genevieve, who has now become much closer to Beverly than Elliot. now it is her that Beverly can call "my everything", now Beverly shares all her feelings and worries with Genevieve. I can't blame her, Elliot is bad at comforting someone, and Genevieve is so sweet, attentive and kind to Beverly when she needs it.

I'm really desperate for some terribly dramatic movie starring Rachel Weisz. at first it would have been a wonderful and even funny movie, but then the world of the main character would begin to collapse, and her mind would come apart at the seams, so that there would really be a lot of very incomprehensible scenes, which, however, have too much hidden meaning in themselves, so that each scene would scream something like "unravel me". so that there is a frequent play of light and shadow, colors, objects, symbols. And of course, the main character should show a very different range of emotions, ranging from laughter to incredible hysteria. I'm sure this movie would have brought Rachel another Oscar, because I watched almost all of her filmography and she didn't often perform such emotions as tears and suffering, but I like how she performs something similar to madness, despair, disbelief here. I really like how her eyes start to run in this scene and she tries to control her facial expression, because at any moment she can break off the hinges. And she has a really beautiful neck, by the way.

I really like this scene too. in the first photo, it seems as if Beverly's eyes were shining with happiness, because after all, she wanted it, and in the other one it feels like the light in her eyes went out after realizing that she was pregnant with twins, when she wanted at least something in her not to remind her of her. it would be nice to draw this.

have you also noticed that Beverly is really prone to self-harm? have you also noticed that there are scars on her thighs that are clearly left over from her teenage years? have you also noticed that moment when she was banging her head against the toilet door, after one really devastating setback in her work? have you also noticed that Beverly smokes when she is under severe stress?

have you talked about fern leaf yet by any chance? i love her a lot :3

Fern Leaf's one of the few things that's enjoyable about those last two books lmaoo, but the thing that ended up happening was that BB!DOTC got MASSIVELY overhauled. It's the arc I'm not honoring fully; and a big part of that is making the main books JUST be about the formation of the Clans.

It's what I wish the arc had been. Watching the actual dawn of the Clans happening before your eyes. Seeing how the naming system, the customs, deputyship, and the groups themselves came into existence. BB!DOTC is about the period BEFORE the Clans are officially formed.

So to do that, instead of the First Battle happening in Book 3, it's now in the LAST book. THAT is the moment when the Clans are officially formed. Slash has been cut completely. One Eye is now the major antagonist of Thunderstar's follow-up SE.

Aaaaand Fern Leaf is kind of up in the air because of that. I could just shuffle her in as a member of one of the proto-clans, but she feels too special for that, you get me? It's why I haven't talked about her too much, PLUS Milkweed, who is another cat who owns my entire heart.

I'm hoping that when I get deeper in the re-read I get some more ideas... I have a bit of a fixin' to maybe steal some of the Slash drama and give it over to BB!Clear Sky. He has the range.

An incomplete list of some of Rook's worst decisions (aka, all the very powerful people he's pissed off)

Told a major villain "if you want them you'll have to go through me" while on 9hp. (Got killed.)

Threatened (unknowingly) the BBEG to stop him from getting revenge on someone who ruined his life. (Only survived unharmed because the BBEG had gotten attached to him.)

Got nose-to-nose with an ancient moon dragon after being told "you are nothing" and said that he would not be leaving the dragon's kingdom, no matter what. (Narrowly persuaded the dragon to let him live via his loyalty to his friends.)

Intentionally taunted a giant snake-that-is-a-demigod that was capable of swallowing him whole and turned down its offer of a miracle by saying "I want my fucking friend back, you son of a bitch." (Killed it by stabbing through its mouth that was aiming to swallow him. Would have died if attack missed.)

Told another major villain "I'm the one who stole [item villain wants]!" to draw his attention away from another party member. (Got killed and had his organs dissolved. Had to be revived via magic tarot card.)

Stuck his face in the face of a very powerful -- and above all, vain -- arcanaloth to tell her she was wrong and she made a mistake, while so injured and sick he couldn't stand. (Only survived because she has a vested interest in keeping him alive so that the demon lord who cursed him can't come the material plane and ruin her business contracts.)

Line I'm Pleased By:

(a line near the end of the eulogy Rook is set to deliver next session at the funeral of his closest friend and father figure in the party... The next bit after this starts with "But I'm going to try" and it kills me. This eulogy is the most honest Rook has been all campaign, maybe even in his entire life, and it's a brutal look into how he sees himself. It starts off furiously angry, and ends up heartbreakingly sincere, which tracks with Rook's incredibly mixed feelings about this guy dying to save his life.)

Ridiculous Line:

Deadringer’ footsteps echoed in the silent church. His arrival had sucked all the sound from the room, as if even the walls were holding their breath. The steady sound of his footfalls was interrupted by a horrible squelch. He stopped and looked down. He had stepped directly into Sister Celestia’s stomach.

(for ridiculous lines it had to be Deadringer. This was his first appearance, before he even said a single word, and man, if this doesn't set the tone for him... Unsettling, cruel, and a bit absurd. This is the same guy who called the BBEG a pussy to his face and also told a man panicking about his daughter's death to "look at my shoe". He's a terrible person, but man has he said some funny things. I played my part in this by helpfully eviscerating Sister Celestia.)
