You are the brightest in the room, a being of pure starlight. You shine with an inhuman glow, casting your spell on those around you. It is an art that shouldn’t exist in this world. A blessing that doesn’t belong with the other tainted, mortal souls in this city.

Is it blasphemous to crave your presence the way I do? This adoration borders obsession, plaguing my mind with images of you in my arms. Are your hands as soft as they look? I wish to be one with you, my flesh intertwined with your starlit essence.

Chapter 1 ~ Broken Bones

The white ceiling greeted her eyes as she slowly opened them. Her body felt sore and heavy when she started to feel the weight of her injuries. "Heavy..." she muttered. Harper lifted her arms into the air. White bandages covered her to the tip of her fingers. "You really did a number on yourself." Her blue eyes turned to a woman dressed in a doctor's uniform. The doctor had short light brown hair , cut in a bob head style and thick black glasses in her face. Harper scowled at her in disgust.

The doctor pushed her glasses up with her middle finger, her green eyes glaring down at her with a smirk. "Come now sweetheart. Don't look at me like that, you will get wrinkled if you keep frowning." She scolded. "I don't care what you say whore." The doctor only laughed and walked over to her desk, typing away on her computer.

Harper continued to glare at her, but noticed her grabbing a cigarette from her coat pocket. "Hey whore, gimme one." The doc looked over just when she was about to put the cigarette between her teeth. "No Crow, it's bad for you. Especially in your condition." She just huffed and stared back up at the ceiling.  'Crow... huh.' Crow was her code name in this hell hole. She couldn't even remember the last time someone called her by her real name.

"Your last opponent really mangled your arms. Two fractures in both... but you still won. Tsk." The doc's face turned from smug to irritated in an instant and Harper couldn't hide a satisfied smile on her face, knowing that she's the one that caused the doctor irritation. "Looks like you will be out of commission for a while."

"How long?"

"I would say a week or two."

Harper shot right up from the bed with a groan. "That is unacceptable! I won't be able to fight then!"

"Exactly." She inhales and puffs out a small trail of grey smoke. "Then what the hell am I supposed to do then?!" She looked over and gave me a 'are you stupid?' look. "Read a book, play your stupid saxophone, hell a write letter or something! But no exercise or lifting! You are to rest, and that is an order." Harper glared at her with her cheeks puffed out in fury. 'Bitch.' She thought. Harper laidback down on the bed when the doctor got up from her chair and began to walk towards her.

Harper couldn't help a tremor of fear come to her with the doctor walking towards her like a predator stalking its prey. She came up to her bed side and used her stethoscope and placed the cold metal against Harper's chest. "Take a deep breath for me." Her breathing stopped for a moment when she felt that cold metal but breathed out and relaxed even for a tiny bit. "Hmm.."

After a few more breaths the doc pulled away from her finally. "Your lungs are good and your heart beats are steady but keep an eye on any symptoms or sudden pressure to your chest." If anyone thought any better they would think the doc actually cared but Harper knew better. "Well you're free to go. You have been an excellent patient! Have a candy!" The doc pulled out a small ball of candy wrapped in the company's logo from her coat pocket. She shoved the candy up to Harper's face with so much enthusiasm that Harper almost laughed.

Well almost.

Harper looked down at the candy in her hand with revolution but accepted it all the same. 'Sad that this candy is the only thing keeping me alive.' Her hand slowly went to her throat where a metal collar was attached tightly to her flesh. The doctor all but turns her back on her and resumes her place at her computer. Harper followed her with her dark blue eyes but slowly closed them and got her sore body out of bed.

She swings her legs on the edge of the bed, her black combat boots that had small patches of dried blood staring back at her. Harper ignored it and got out of bed with little to no effort. It wasn't the first time that she got blood on herself that is not her own and it wouldn't be the last. She pulled down her gold-black tank top and smoothed out blue jeans of invisible dust and made her way to the exit. Harper tucked her long, black wavy hair behind her ear in thought. Not even wincing to the pain from her arms. 'How long have I been here? How long do I have to keep doing this shit?' She didn't even realize she was out of the room and was half way down the hall to her cell/room. "So what did the doc say Harp?" Harper jumped at the sudden question and looked over and saw a tall, muscular man with a tan. He wears his short black hair spiked back and has the letters DSMK tattooed above his right eye leaning against his cell door. Harper recognized him immediately since she had the same tattoo on her shoulder. "Senji. Why don't you say hello like a normal person?" She asked while placing her hand over her heart.

She inspected from the tips of his hair to his shoes. He wore dark blue pants with a black belt, a tank top, leather shoes, and a long black coat. She also noticed two rings on his thumbs and realized that she was missing those same rings on her thumbs. "Shit..." she grumbled. "What's up with you?" He asked while cocking his eye brown in question.

"I think I lost my rings in the fight." She sighed with disappointment. "Stupid." He tapped her head gently with his fist. "You didn't answer my question though." She looked up, not understanding how he can be so much taller than her but dismissed it. "I fractured both my arms but other than that I'm okay." She shrugged. "What about your heart?" Harper rolled her eyes. It was always about her heart with these people. Harper has a heart tumour the size of an apple on the outside of her heart muscle. And no matter how many surgeries she had, the fucker just kept regrowing and became bigger and bigger over time. Even with her branch of sin it can only do so much to fix the damage that was already done.

"Don't roll your eyes at me kiddo, you know how concerned I am about you."

"You're only  two years older than me." She glared up at him but had a small smile on her face. He smiled down at her, giving her gentle pats on the head like a big brother saying 'you did a good job today.' Harper sighed in defeat. "Still the same Senji." A sad expression crept over Senji's face but surely he shouldn't be surprised. The news hasn't changed over the years and it's not going to change now. She moved his hand away from her head and gently held it in her’s. The difference in hand size was baffling. His hand looked like it would swallow her whole. "I'm not dying yet, Senji. Trust me you're stuck with me till we are old and grey." She giggled. Senji snorted and scratched the back of his neck while a blush covered his face.

Senji blushed even harder when he saw what Harper was wearing. Her tank top had no sleeves or strings which left her bust and shoulders all exposed and her jeans had so many rips and holes that he could see inches of her legs and thighs. Harper cocked her head in confusion when Senji snatched his hand back and began to remove his black coat.  "Senji?" She asked but was suddenly enveloped by warmth. Senji made sure that his coat covered her body well. "Geez! Put some more clothes on! You're showing off too much!" He scolded, his face still burning like a red tomato. Now it was Harper's turn to blush.

She knew that her friend worked out everyday but damn! 'An eight pack?! Really!?' She thought. She rolled her eyes again at his comment and tried to shrug off the coat. "I'm not showing that much, thank you very much!" She snapped. Senji held the coat tighter against her. "I'll tie this up on you if I have to... just humor me." He pleaded. Harper sighed in defeat and pushed her injured arms through the long sleeves. She flopped them around in amusement. The coat was way too big on her. Senji coughed and scratched his neck again. "So I'm going to assume you're not going to be able to join me in carnival corpse?" Harper nodded with a look of guilt in her eyes. He leaned against his door in thought, not really paying attention to her.

Harper took it as a sign that he was disappointed in her and began to defend herself. "You know it wasn't my fault! The bastard was three times bigger than me and." She got interrupted by a cough from a prison guard in a full white bodysuit and mask. Harper glared at him for interrupting her but thought twice about starting an argument. "What?" Senji growled. The guard gulped upon looking at the two. They weren't called the Crows of Death for nothing. The duo killed over 84 prisoners upon arrival of the prison. They were not the ones you want to fuck with.

"Umm.. Ms. Crow..."

"Crow is fine." She hissed. "Well, Crow. You left these at Dr. Rei's office." He opened his hand to reveal two silver rings. "Oh shit, thanks." Harper was surprised. Any normal guard would toss them away. Guess this guy was new. She reached over to grab them but the guard flinched and backed away in response. Senji pushed off the door with irritation. "Are you going to give them to her or what?" You can see the guard shivering in fear at Senji's intense gaze. Harper grabbed Senji's arm gently and gave it a squeeze. He looked down at her and shook her head, telling him through her eyes 'Don't start.'

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath and let it out slowly to calm him down. "M-My apologies! Here." The guard dropped the rings on the floor before anyone could say anything and ran as fast as he could. Harper looked after the fading white suit and shook her head. "He's not going to make it." She got down on her knees and picked up the rings from her bandaged fingers. Senji ignored her last comment and kept staring at her damaged hand. "You know I wasn't going to scold you right. It was a close fight and you were doing it alone for the first time. So I'm not mad." Harper breathed in relief. Normally whenever there is a carnival corpse Harper and Senji would always fight together as a team. Everyone else thought it was unfair since most of their opponents faced them alone. But it's not their fault. They didn't make up the rules and Harper was quite grateful for it. Some of the opponents are... shall we say very dangerous if one is alone.

Harper got up from the dirty ground and placed the rings back on her thumbs where they belonged and made way to her room. "God I'm tired." She muttered. "Get some rest kiddo. By the way it looks like you won't have any fights for a while. What are you going to be doing?" He teased. She shrugged and went into her room without another word.

Upon entering her lovely cage, Harper took a moment to look around her room. Her walls were all white as well as the floor. She had a queen sized bed at the corner of the room, a bookshelf with various types of books, an office table on the far right with a laptop and office materials, a yoga mat with weights in the centre of the room, a stand with a saxophone resting peacefully for its owner, a dresser and last but not least a tv hanging across her bed. It wasn't luxurious but it was something. Winning so much cast made a huge difference. She immediately went to the bed and plopped down with a deep sigh.

The day finally got to her and she can feel her energy draining. But even though Harper's body was tired her mind was wide awake. She recounted the events of her last fight. The man was huge, not muscle wise but fat. So fat that he should've been arrested again for being so fat. She chuckled at the thought. In size he could've overpowered her but his movements were sloppy and slow. She planned to high jump kick him to stun him and then pin him down with her Crow Blades but... she clearly underestimated him.

She jumped but was immediately grabbed by her ankle by a fatty hand and was thrown down to the ground. Harper was prepared to get back up but he hulked  over her and held her arms down with a sinister smile on his face. Subconsciously Harper pulled her arms to her chest and rubbed them up and down in a haze. She can feel the brute squeeze and twisting her arms like they were twigs. She could still hear the sounds of her bones breaking by his brute force. She shivered. At the moment Harper truly thought that she was going to be killed. The man looked at her like he was going to devour her. It was a frightful sight.

Just when she thought the last thing she would ever see before she died was those hungry eyes, she saw a trickle of blood pooling from her forehead. Harper was so preoccupied about her arms that she didn't realize that she had a head wound from the attack. With enough will she forced the blood to move and shoot out to the man's eyes. It was a direct hit, the blood shot out like a bullet and pierced his eye socket. He hollered in pain and recoiled off her. With the adrenaline pumping through her veins she lifted herself up into a crouch and did a sweep feet kick, knocking the pile of blubber to the ground. Harper got up and slowly walked over to the wailing man. His hand became stained with blood from his injured eyes.

She stopped in the middle of his bloated stomach. 'I'm sorry.' She lifted her leg in the air and dropped it down and landed on his stomach hard. The man gasped, blood spitting out of his mouth and falling unconscious from the pain. The cheers from her audience was deafening. She could feel her heart beating uncomfortably, the cheers disgusted her. Harper would normally flip them off but remember that she couldn't lift her arms. 'The winner is Crow!!!'. Harper snapped out of her daydream and remembered something. She immediately grabbed her remote control from her nightstand and turned on the tv. What came before her on the screen was the carnival corpse platform. In the middle lay the fat man, still bleeding from his injuries strapped to a chair while the whore doctor was setting up the fun wheel.

Harper looked at him with pity. She knew the game all too well. If you lost in the carnival you go through a min game where you will lose something even more than the game itself. "Well ladies and gentlemen! After that fantastic fight I say it's time for the main event!" The announcer broadcast. Harper sat up straighter, giving her full attention to the tv screen. "Now let's see what I get today, fat boy!" Doctor Rei pulled the lever of the wheel and the thing began to spin like a slot in a casino. The first slot stopped and the camera zoomed in. The letters said 'Kidney'. "Oh no."

The next slot said the same thing. The man began to fidget nervously, hearing the jingle of the slots stop over and over again. "He's losing a kidney today." Harper sighed. "Look at that folks! We got ourselves a kidney!" Cheers and applause echo throughout Harper's room like a bad song. She wanted it to stop. She wanted to cover her ears and tried to ignore the cheering crowd and the soft cries of the poor man. The remote was in her hand, all she had to do was turn it off. But for some reason she couldn't bring herself to turn it off or look away.

Rei slowly walked over to him, two guards beginning to un-strap him. "No! Stop! Get away from me!" Red blood poured out of his eye sockets that were supposed to be tears. Harper leaned forward in anticipation, waiting to see if this man would make a last attempt at escape. "Use your branch of sin! Come on!" She whispered. But nothing happened, he just sat there crying like a little baby. "What?" Harper's body trembled. "Ha... ha... hahahaha!" A historical laugh slip passed the poor girl's lips, mingling with the man's wails of pain when Rei began her... dissection. Bile immediately came up to her throat and without hesitation Harper went straight into the bath to throw up the rest of the contents in her stomach.

Once the screaming died down to nothing Harper finally exited out of the bathroom, giggles still leaving her lips. "Hahaha... I shouldn't be surprised. It's not the first time they put in a regular prisoner just to be slaughtered." Her hand covered her face as the giggles continued. She gritted her teeth when she finally calmed down. A deep seeded hatred washed over her.

She quickly grabbed anything she could get her hands on and sadly it was a vase filled with water lilies and threw them against the wall. A loud crash and splatter of water tumbled to the ground in a hep while her bitterness and hatred poured out of her in that throw. She didn't know what to do with herself. Anger radiated off her in waves. She paced back and forth trying to figure out what to do with herself. Her arms throbbed at the unnecessary movements but Harper didn't care. Her eyes stopped at her desk that was lined with papers and pencils and speed walked to her chair and followed the advice of the loving whore of a doctor. She began to write. Sure she writes music notes or drawings from time to time to calm herself down but this time she was too far gone with her anger. No this time she just wants to write a letter to the universe, asking why the hell she was put here in this place or anyone for that matter. She wanted answers but she knew that she wouldn't get any. So just writing on paper addressed to no one seems like a great idea.

TRATM XX: We Risk Our Lives So That You Still Have Yours

Chapter twenty (and the finale) of The Raven and the Mockingbird, a T-rated Deadman Wonderland fanfic from 2013-17. Since this an archive, I am not editing the chapters as they are posted. Follows an OC named Tsumetai and her relationship with canon character, Toto Sakigami.

Tsumetai knew what abandoned silence in Deadman Wonderland sounded like; she’d found so many forgotten areas of the G Sector she could be considered an expert of the layout. So she knew that something was off as she led Toto towards the exit.

Toto had been given strict orders to remain entirely silent in the duct, and he was actually following it. He’d even managed to make his breathing nearly inaudible. Their footsteps were as loud as their breathing; she knew what their escape sounded like.

Heavy and shallow breaths muffled by a door weren’t part of it.

Turning to Toto, Tsumetai grabbed his wrist and tugged him along as she picked up her speed. She could see the door, in all its inconspicuous glory, ahead. Just a few more feet and she’d be able rid herself and everyone else of one of the most dangerous beings alive.

They just made it past where the doors lining the walls stopped when guards emerged from the ones further back. Tsumetai jumped -- she hadn’t expected them to be so loud about it -- and whirled around. The sight of the guns pointing down at them made her freeze. By her side, she heard Toto’s voice.

“Hide behind me,” he whispered. Though he was quiet, she could tell that it wasn’t Hagire that had said it. But even then, she couldn’t move. Just as they were about to open fire, Toto stepped in front of her and faced her. Wrapping his arms around Tsumetai, he shielded her the best he could. As the bullets lodged into his back, he yelled, “JUST LEAVE HER ALONE! LEAVE US ALONE!” He made no sound to indicate he was in pain, but Tsumetai could feel tears leaking from his eyes. The guards kept fighting until there were no bullets left in their guns, and Toto’s shoulders dropped. The back of his clothes were coated in blood; he was only alive because he was a Deadman, but he was too injured to retaliate.

“Toto, it’s...It’s alright, you’ll be fine. I promise I’ll show you the sun,” Tsumetai whispered, pressing her forehead into his shoulder. His entire body was quivering, barely able to support himself. The guards were finally finishing up reloading when quick footsteps came from behind them.

“Don’t even think about it!” Sanae yelled, Branch of Sin already out. The guards closest to her didn’t even have enough time to turn before she’d impaled them and watched them collapse. The others all turned, knowing that they had to take her out if they wanted to stop the escape, and Tsumetai felt her body tense up. This was her opportunity. But could she really kill Toto after he’d just saved her?

Slipping out of Toto’s arms, Tsumetai looked up at him. His eyes were clenched shut, mouth set in a grimace. Without her supporting his body, he collapsed to his knees. Kneeling in front of him, she pressed a kiss to his forehead.

“It’s alright,” she muttered, cupping his face with one of her hands gently. The other lifted trailed towards the small razor she’d embedded in her jacket, were she to ever lose her glove. Pricking her finger tip, she let the blood form her Branch of Sin slowly. Tilting Toto’s chin up, she pressed a kiss to his lips. Something within her ached. When his eyes opened, she forced them to stay on her own. “See? There’s the ocean. And I can see the sun.” The confusion in his eyes almost made her resolve disappear. When his eyes dropped from her face to her hand, she sucked in a breath.

“What--” Forcing her eyes closed so she wouldn’t cry, Tsumetai shoved the spike into Toto’s chest. The sound of breath rushing from his lungs made her heart crack a bit. The feeling of his body growing limp made it shatter. Breaking the spike off, she looked down at him. Tears that had built up behind her eyelids fell onto his chest. “Tsume…”

“Toto, I’m so sorry, but Hagire was too dangerous to keep around and--”

“Tsume, it’s me. Just me. Hagire is gone. I...I don’t know how I did it, but I forced him down. Maybe even for good.” Tsumetai made a choked noise, and her entire body shook. “Look, I don’t blame you. But if this is the end--” He coughed, and blood came up. “I want you o know that I did care for you, this entire time, and that I still do. I’ll never stop.” Another cough, this one for violent. “He never let me show it; made me take the backseat for everything. And you deserve better than that. I hope you find somebody again. Somebody better than me. Someone who can freely say--” She could hear the blood in his lungs, the blood climbing up his throat. “I love y--” His eyes, such a vibrant yellow, dulled. Blood dribbled past his lips. The sound of Sanae finishing off the guards went unheard.

“I love you,” she whispered. “I love you, goddammit, I love you and I wish that I didn’t have to do this but what was I supposed to do? Let Hagire use you until he found a better body?” Pressing her forehead to his, Tsumetai forced her breathing to even out. Closing his eyes, she kissed him one last time. The metallic taste of his blood didn’t bother her.

Sanae approached from behind, slowly and quietly. She’d barely used any blood to finish off the guards, and already her Branch of Sin had retreated. “You did it,” she said, crouching beside Tsumetai. “It’s for the greater good.”

“Doesn’t stop it from hurting.”

“I know, kid...God do I know.”

Senji was holding his own against Genkaku fairly well, but he was losing ground. He kept getting pushed in the direction Sanae had ran, and he knew that he wouldn’t be able to stop him entirely. Genkaku wouldn’t be satisfied until he completed his goal or was killed.

“You know, this would be so much easier if you weren’t trying to protect them. You could make it out of this alive even!” Genkaku snarled. “I could pull some strings to make sure about that.”

“Thanks,” Senji spat back, jumping back from Genkaku as he swung at him. “But no thanks.” Blocking the blade with his Branch of Sin, Senji squared his shoulders and made sure his feet were planted firmly. There was no way Genkaku would tip him over. He was sure that this would buy Sanae more time, but then he felt himself shifting backwards. Genkaku hadn’t been meaning to tip him over all along; he was planning on shoving him along until he got to where he wanted to be.

“What a shame,” Genkaku tutted. “What. A. Shame.” Each word was punctuated with a rather harsh push on Senji, but the last word was also followed by a low punch to Senji’s stomach. “If that’s how it is, I need you to get out of my way.” Pulling his weapon back, Genkaku watched Senji collapse before stepping over him. “I’ll finish you later.”

Sanae had helped Tsumetai get the door open -- which they had done by breaking the hinges and kicking it out -- when more guards poured into the hallway. Sanae hissed obscenities under her breath; Toto’s body hadn’t been moved, and Tsumetai had already ran back over to him, leaning over his body as if he needed to be protected. Moving to block them, Sanae reopened her wounds and let her Branch of Sin out. As she ducked into the fray to fight, she’d left something behind. A glob of blood rested where Tsumetai’s spike had pierced Toto’s chest, forming a flower bud. When it bloomed -- which would take a minute or two -- it would hopefully take out any guards that made their way past her, while also forcing Tsumetai out and blocking off the door.

She was making her way towards the back, most of the guards already lying dead, when she saw Genkaku. Behind him, hobbling a bit but still running, was Senji. The sight of them both made her pause for a moment, and was just enough time for a few more guards to make their way toward Tsumetai.

“Well, well,” Genkaku called, a disgusting smile on his face. “We meet again.” He was on Sanae in an instant, knocking her back into the wall. Senji yelled profanities and forced himself to run faster.

“Senji, get Tsumetai and get out!” Sanae yelled as she pushed Genkaku off. She was starting to get woozy from the blood loss.

At the sound of her name, Tsumetai looked up. She saw the guards approaching and froze, eyes dropping down to Toto’s body. The blood bud was almost done blooming. She heard Senji attempt to argue with Sanae, but knew he lost when he ran over and grabbed her arm.

“Let’s go,” he said lowly. “She’ll join us.”

“No, wait!” Tsumetai cried out, trying to grab hold of Toto’s sleeve to drag him with. “I promised to get him--”

“That promise will get you killed!” Senji yelled, glaring down at her as he pushed her through the doorway. Just as her feet hit the outside ground, the bloom in Toto’s chest exploded. Would looked like rose thorns shot at the guards, but a shockwave of blood shot out of the other side. It forced Senji through the door and covered the space up entirely. Spinning on his heel, he yelled and pounded his fists on the wall. “Sanae! SANAE! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING?!”

Genkaku hovers above Sanae, a sick grin on his face. She’s coated in blood, almost all of it her own. His weapon sticks out of her chest.

“Oh look, you got them out. But do you think they’ll make it out there?” he asked, crouching just above her legs.

“The public don’t know their faces,” Sanae manages. There’s blood and saliva in her mouth, and she uses the last of her strength to spit it at his face. “And they both know how to hide and never be found.”

“That so? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.” Shoving the blade further into her chest, Genkaku laughed. “Lights out,” he said, watching her eyes dull.

“Fuck...You.”

“What lovely parting words,” he hissed, wiping the saliva from his face. “But I would rather not.”

Tsumetai had been sitting silently next to the door since it had been blocked, and Senji finally joined her after tiring of pacing.

“She should be out by now,” he grumbled, tapping his foot in impatience.

“Senji,” Tsumetai said carefully. “I think she might have died.” Senji stiffened next to her. “I don’t think she’ll be joining us.”

“If she’s dead, it’s your fault.” He said it without a second thought, refusing to look at her. Tsumetai stared in disbelief, covering her mouth as tears built up. “She did all that to ensure your safety. Whether you like it or not, you’re responsible.” Hiccuping, Tsumetai felt her cheeks wetting as she started crying again. The sound made him turn to look at her, and he felt guilt almost immediately. Sanae wouldn’t have wanted him to make Tsumetai cry.

“You know I didn’t want it to end this way just as much as you did,” she said, voice cracking as she turned away. “And that it hurts just as much.”

“Look, I--”

“We all risked our lives just to kill Hagire. And then, come to find out, I killed Toto. Not just his body, but his conscience. And then immediately after, my best friend -- the only person I had for ages -- dies just so I can get out, not knowing whether or not I’ll make it in this world.” Senji felt his jaw lock up.

“I know. And I’m sorry, I’m just--”

“You’re upset, and understandably so. I know.” Drying her tears, Tsumetai got to her feet. “I guess I should go; they might come after us, and there’s no reason to give them a head start by sticking around.” As she started walking off, Senji got to his feet.

“Hey, wait.” She stopped, but didn’t turn to look at him. “We should stick together. We’re all we’ve got left, right?”

After a long, thoughtful moment, Tsumetai hummed in agreement. “Right.”

Chaplin had been caught up in the riot, looking for Tsumetai the entire time, and eventually stumbled upon Genkaku. He was drenched in blood, bodies of guards surrounding him. He still sat on Sanae’s legs, but he was staring up at the ceiling with blank eyes.

“What the hell?” Chaplin breathed, covering her nose as she took a hesitant step closer. When she recognized Sanae’s face, she grew furious. “What the hell!” Stomping over to Genkaku, she grabbed his collar and brought his face to hers. “Where is Tsumetai?!” she demanded.

“This one,” Genkaku said, gesturing to Sanae, “gave her life for the little raven. The crow made it out with her.”

“And Toto…?”

“The Raven killed the Mockingbird.” Something about the way Genkaku said it made Chaplin upset, and she suddenly threw him against the wall. Taken by surprise, Genkaku lost his breath and had a hard time getting up. When he looked up, vision a bit wobbly from hitting his head, he saw Chaplin standing above him, her Branch of Sin out. He wasn’t able to even make a sound before he done for, joining the bodies filling the hall.

“If she’s got Senji…” Chaplin said to herself, taking a seat among the carnage, “then she should be alright.” Another group of guards eventually found their way to where she sat, the riot having been contained. Assuming she’d done most of the damage, they grabbed her by the arms and dragged her off. She didn’t fight as they locked her in solitary; she’d grown bored of Carnival Corpses ages ago, and without Tsumetai, free reign in G Sector didn’t mean much to her. Leaning against the wall, she sighed. “Be safe…”

Senji and Tsumetai had a hard time adjusting to civilian life at first, but once they found jobs and a home, it got a bit easier. Tsumetai worked at a library, quietly stocking the shelves and checking out books every afternoon. Senji, unable to return to the police force, had a harder time finding something he enjoyed. After taking on everything available, he ended as a bartender at the bar just down the street from where him and Tsumetai lived.

People didn’t seem to recognize them, and all the scars they had were taken for what they were. So far, no one from Deadman Wonderland had found them.

And it will stay that way, no matter how much they have to fight.

Let's all forget that I already posted my X-Men OC. I had to make some changes. (That's why the repost) I also made his reference sheet a lot simpler. His story is still a work in progress.

Mutation

- He can control and harden his blood

- when the blood is not connected to Misha he can't control it.

- once the blood is hardened he can't turn it into its liquid form again

- the hardened blood looks and feels similar to amber

- his body does produce blood a lot faster than normal people but he has his limits he does tend to black out from blood lost when he uses his powers too much

- he can control other peoples blood if he has enough of his own blood in their bloodstream.

- healing factor (his healing works like Wolverines but he can consciously stop the healing of his wounds if he wants.) His blood is a little bit like a separate body part be can fully control and move it like he wants to even if it is still inside his body.

- immune against any kind of viruses, poison or medication

- his eyes are like the eyes of a cat, pupils big in the dark and thin in light

- enhanced sense

- fangs

- red eyes

Tbh I don't know if he is too OP I already said in my old post that the idea for his power comes from a manga called Deadman Wonderland. I mean he is not invincible he is no match against psychic powers for example. Ehe I do try to make him not to OP but in general I just wanna have fun with him and live out my silly X-Men ideas.

No-Face; Spirited Away:

Aside from the general off putting nature that is THIS character, the way it really reminds me of "Builder" is the scary smile and personality of adapting to so many different environments while never really fitting in. Which is quite similar to "Builder"

Frieren; Frieren Beyond Journey's End:

Frieren as a character has a hard time understand human emotions and how the short lived species of humans make an impact on her, and oh did they ever make an impact. The whole point of her journey- without getting super spoilery- is just kinda... understanding emotions and how special the people she knew and knows are to her? At least from my perspective ahsfsduif I dunno! BUT! I think that really fits with "Builder". She does not understand people, and emotions are often flying over her head, but her absolute desire to understand and care she could have for someone makes me draw the connection.

Ditto; Pokemon:

Ditto, the Pokemon that copies and mimics others but is never fully able to pass as the other. It is very... similar to my sweet baby "Builder"

Wall-e; Wall-E:

Wall-e is a simple lil guy, with the absolute dedication to doing his job cause it's all he knows, but he goes from a mindless little robot to a character rich lil man who likes lightbulbs and the pretty Eve and I think.. that is what "Builder" will become!

Kanna; Inuyasha:

Kanna was a creature created by an evil stinky man who says she has no heart. She's a blank canvas and only does what she is told. No emotions, no thoughts other than to listen. She is nothing... and she realizes this at a point and turns around the best she can with what time she has left. I think "Builder" has the similar mindset of 'Listen don't question' but will come to the realization that oh my gosh she is not who she pretends to be or thinks she is portraying. I dunno there was a line the character used that was like

"I have... I have nothing. I have nothing."

And that stuck with me

Shiro; Deadman Wonderland:

OK SO LIKE HEAR ME OUT?? "Builder" is definitely not like... sane? For lack of better words lol. She was raised in a similar way to Shiro and Shiro is definitely not the epitome of sanity wheeze. I mainly draw the connection between them with the view on romance and also how "Builder" would turn out in a 'bad end' sorta way?

Oh my…I’m super flattered and honestly a little amazed that I got questions for myself (I figured it would be mostly characters with maybe an ask thrown in here and there for my OC’s). So I’m really happy about that but at the same time, god, did you pick the two hardest questions for me ahaha! Like, these are super, duper tough for me to answer! I’ma try my best though!!

Impossible to answer. Simply impossible. There are so many really great, nuanced, interesting characters out there in so many different forms of media. There are so many characters I really love and have developed deep bonds with over the years and to pick just two is impossible. It’s also really hard because, as I’ve admitted before, my favourites are always constantly changing. Even for just my fandoms on here, my favourite characters are constantly shifting and changing for the most part. Outside of the fandoms I write for on here, Watson from Sherlock Holmes, Ron Weasley from Harry Potter, Leo from the Heroes of Olympus series, and Frank from Hold Me Closer, Necromancer are some of my favourite literary characters. For video games, it’s Link and Princess Peach all the way for me, because I was raised on a babysitter’s Nintendo and first loves die hard. Fave book?

I have a lot of books that I dearly love. Much like with characters, it’s really impossible to just choose one. The list of them all that I think are fantastic would fill whole pages. I read a lot of different genres though, surprising because it’s a large part of what I write, pure romance remains the only thing I don’t enjoy reading at all. Mostly because I find them either very formulaic with cliched characters or I find the romances they portray to be vaguely (or in some cases, not so vaguely) toxic. There are a few exceptions to that rule as there are a few romances that I did enjoy, but largely because of other factors within the story. There’s a Harlequin series, of all things, underneath their paranormal romance series, called the Bloodrunners and I enjoyed those. I also enjoyed Dante and Aristotle Discover the Secrets of the Universe. I read a lot of biographies (mostly recently read Britney Spears biography), adore cozy mysteries (currently reading the Murder, She Wrote novel series) and not so cozy mysteries (excited to start the second book in the John Ceepak mysteries). I also read a lot of urban fantasy (big fan of the fantastical noir tropes, with Who Censored Roger Rabbit being a fantastic example and I do enjoy the Dresden Files). Horror though? That’s my jam. I’ve been a huge Stephen King fan since I was around eleven and I really love Grady Hendrix. I also am not someone who feels I need to keep myself to reading only adult novels. I love kids books. I recently revisited and read all the classic Goosebumps books for a wave of nostalgia and despite being written for kids, I love the Percy Jackson series and own a lot of both the Nancy Drew and the Hardy boys novels. Of course, the classics are always worth reading. I reread Alice in Wonderland and The Little Prince quite often, along with the Anne of Green Gables novels, Little Women/Little Men, and Frankenstein quite often. Basically, I just really love books and always appreciate any good recommendations for new ones.
