You know, i've lived, for me, what's felt pretty close to the bone for... well, honestly, a while now. Moneywise that is. i mean, i'm always close to my bones, and Sydney is pretty close on the bookshelf by me... i'm not really any closer to other people's bones than i think would be considered average on any given day. i feel like i've lost the metaphor.

Anyway, the point is, i don't really spend a lot of money, even rarer still on things that aren't immediate necessities (we're not counting bills and rent here, natch). It's left my life, pretty narrow, and i don't really want much of anything anymore (tho' there's a lot of depression wrapped up in that too); but it's not really a bad life, and on good days, i don't mind the confines that much. But it's too the point where i bought a few games on discount this paycheck and felt like i was being ridiculously extravagant. Especially after our funtimes wiv the hospital, i expected to be deadbroke wiv two weeks to go until next paycheck. Because i am almost always deadbroke wiv two weeks to go to next paycheck.

So, imagine my shock when i checked my bank account and discovered between having a regular job, and spending habits close to nil, i'd actually saved a chunk of money. i mean, a chunk of money for me, but, like actual money. Not buy a new laptop money, but maybe "keep this up for a few months more and you could buy a laptop money." i really, really, need a new laptop. i won't be getting one, because if i had that kind of money there are other things it ought to go to first, but just the idea that having that much is a possibility is so wild and novel, like, i almost can't fathom it.

So, i got home from work today, and there was a post office note to me that there's a registered letter they tried to deliver while i was at work. From the Namba tax office. Because of course there would be. Because why should anything start to work out. Last time i had dealings wiv them, i wound up on the hock for 500~600bucks a month for two and a half years, 'cause some fuck-ups wiv how i thought taxes were sorted. After i'd gotten that all taken care of, i didn't miss a payment for years. 'til i left my job, then i was unemployed for a while. Then, you know, plague, and i was unemployed a lot more. It'll probably only be a bill for two years and late fees, but, it will be a bill, and it will be more than all the money i've managed to save up. So, you know, fuck me i guess. It's always some godsdamned thing.
