one detail i really liked from dead space was the immortal necromorph’s (don’t remember its name) death. we hear at the beginning of the chapter that it was resurrected from its cryo sleep by the “heat of life.” at its death scene, you burn it away with the space shuttles engines, the literal “heat of life.” the immortal lives and dies by the heat of life, not of its own, but of its adversary and creators.

does anyone know off the top of their head whether ds1 (2008) ever shows the chapter 1 title before you get on the tram and it goes 'chapter 1: new arrivals completed'? or do you only get to know what the chapter was called once you actually finish it? i've tried lookin at a walkthrough on youtube and i can't find it showing up anywhere before then but maybe i just missed it idk

When Dead Space came out for some reason little not-even-10-years-old me hyperfixated on it and I would read/look through my uncle's Game Informer issues on it over and over again, as well as the wiki [cause LPs weren't quite a thing yet], and despite being terrified and having nightmares I was so hooked on looking at and drawing necromorphs and being obsessed with body horror in general. And that's probably a not-insignificant percentage of what's wrong with me now

It's Dead Space! Again! We're bringing it back with the remake, but since seeing corpse monster polygons become corpse monster pores will make me pee myself with such rigor and vitality so as to kill myself via dehydration, we're bringing in goofy music to prevent my untimely end.
