Ya know like thinking years down the line and everybody’s getting married yada yada except for Nico. then Hazel’s like “Do you have any plan to seal it with anyone?”, only to be informed, stunned and dumbfounded, that Nico has been, technically, basically, on principle, married to Jason.

“When?!! Why did i know about this??” she would ask. And Nico would tell her about that time, when they were still young and curious but alr war-ridden, he and Jason had said fuck it and read their vows at the top of Thalia’s Pine tree, officially bound with Pelus being the only witness, bc neither of them could be sure they would both live until adulthood. “So better do it while we still could”, Nico said.

They were right. And isnt that a relief.

Jason Grace deserved better 😭

Rick did us so dirty. He basically just dangled this incredible backstory in front of us. Like my man was literally raised by wolves?? And yet still grew up to be one of the most, if not the most respectful young man in the entire series??

Percy being better with a sword genuinely doesn’t make sense with Jason’s hinted background either. This guy who has been training since he was three years old (twelve years) and then this kid who’s only been training for five is stronger than him?

I honestly feel like Rick only did this so people didn’t hate Jason more than they already did, having a character who wasn’t the main be stronger than the said main character.

That’s a mouthful but you get what I mean. I’m 99% sure there’s a word for characters like Jason, but I can’t remember what it is. It’s kind of like how in ffs you get Mary Sue’s, or original female characters who take over the story? Not really but kinda.

But yes, let’s not forget this kid, because that’s literally what they all are! Kids!

But THIS kid didn’t know when his birthday was…

How can you hate him when you know that? That kind of backstory is usually enough to make people love horrible, bloodthirsty villains but not a 16 year old hero who lost everything when Hera took his memories?

It doesn’t make sense.

Petition for a Mutual Pining, Requited Unrequited Love, Sad Ending Jasico fanfic in which Nico brings Jason back to life only to leave right after when it's hinted that he is still in control of Jason's soul somehow. This sounds like one of those "Why did you leave me?" - "Because I love you" relationships in mangas I'm usually obsessed over and I'm digging this hard.

listen I know everybody makes Orpheus and Eurydice quest aus of Nico bringing Jason back BUT we already did Orpheus and Eurydice in canon like at least three times (Nico bringing Percy to the Styx, Nico bringing back Hazel, and Piper in general is Orpheus as an Argonaut) AND we are missing the much simpler canon-established method.

Remember the whole soul-trade thing Nico was doing in BoTL that got dropped completely? Even though it was like the entire subplot with Minos?

The requirement is a soul that has cheated death for a soul that has died. Now, quickly ignoring the convenient emperors running around who very much cheated death and the entire main conflict in TOA is Apollo trying to get rid of them. There are a ton of escaped souls from the whole Doors of Death/Thanatos getting captured thing. They're just kind of around. A lot of them were in the Giant Army but not all of them and a good number of them are random mortals and they're just. Somewhere.

So that's two loose plot threads: Nico is 100% fully aware of a completely Underworld-Legal method for bringing people back from the dead and there's an absolute ton of random souls-who-cheated-death running around who knows where completely unaddressed. Also, we know from BoO that Nico has changed his stance since BoTL and is now completely down for some murder.

Now, is there a very compelling plot within there about Nico and his sense of Underworld justice/Nico's morals and how he views the situation (insert the "That word ['please'] didn’t make sense to Nico. The Underworld had no mercy. It only had justice." quote from BoO of Nico killing Bryce while he's begging for mercy here.) vs Jason's own sense of justice/morals and the knowledge that Nico 100% actually murdered somebody to bring him back. THAT'S FASCINATING. It's a good conflict for a story and it ties up loose threads! We don't need to invent new mechanics the worldbuilding writes the plot all on it's own.

love thinking about the underworld siblings just being absolute fucking creatures. they stare at you too long after a conversation has ended and quickly look away if you notice and look back. they sit catatonic on the floor of a pitch black room and get mildly annoyed when someone turns the lights on. they get each other in a distinct way that no one else ever really could and hold hands creepily like the twins in the shining. nico notices the tiny little things of another person's life and when they ask him How he knows he says "the ghosts in your walls told me" (it's a joke and no one laughs). hazel has a fun night on the town with friends when suddenly she lays her fingertips to the earth and says "oh... someone was murdered here in 1998" and the mood is killed instantly. they have a shared macabre that looms over others like the presence of an urn in the corner of a room. percy/frank/will/jason/reyna are used to it but even they get caught off guard by their behavior sometimes. they need to be Weird in a way that makes other people uncomfortable

do you think jason grace ever thinks about how new rome and, as an extension of it, the empire of the US perpetuates the same power imbalances/power hoarding and inequity that the old Roman Empire did and do you think he ever gets angry about how he was raised in that system to the extent that it is impossible to look at Neo-Classical New England buildings without his blood boiling? do you think he and annabeth share haunting feelings about the architecture of government buildings that were designed to emulate temples for gods that are just as fucked up and selfish as humans with too much power and control can be? does it give them chills, knowing the founding fathers were demigods, and that history is a cycle?

Never recover from that AU wherein one of Jason’s classmates in that all-boy boarding school remembers him. Remembers a boy who’s so quirky in his Grecoroman fixation, who’s so perfect but doesnt have social media or cellphone or laptop at all, who’s so good at sports and physical activities it’s insane.

Who suddenly disappeared one day and never came back.

And that mortal classmate is left wondering where he’s gone. They ask around the class but somehow barely anyone cares. The teachers all forgot about him, as if some sort of collective amnesia. As if Jason Grace never existed at all.

But that vacant dorm room, the notebook with the name ‘Jason’ and little doodles of Roman shrines at the corners they haven’t managed to return to its owner - all speak of someone once shone so bright, in this very place.
