This is just a small idea I wanted to share and will write more about soon.

Once upon a time...

In the hidden heart of France, a charming young Prince and Princess lived in a beautiful castle. Although they had everything their hearts desired, the siblings were selfish and unkind. They loved nobody but themselves. Only a few hand picked people were allowed to tend to their castle.

One night, a woman intruded into the castle to seek shelter from the raging storm. As a gift, she offered a single rose. Greedy and conceited, the Prince and Princess cast her out. But the woman warned them to not be self centered, for joy can be found in even the simplest acts of kindness.

When the Prince and Princess dismissed her again, the woman’s cloak fell away to reveal a beautiful Enchantress. The siblings tried to beg for forgiveness, but it was too late. For she had seen that there was no selfless love in their hearts. As punishment, she transformed them into a hideous beast. Two souls, two loveless hearts trapped in a single body. The Enchantress placed a powerful spell on the castle and all who lived there.

Days bled into years, the Prince and Princess were forgotten by the world. The Enchantress erased all memory of them from those who loved them. But the rose she offered was enchanted. If one of the siblings could learn to love another and earn their love in return by the time the last petal fell, the spell would be broken. If not, the siblings would remain in this single body for all time.

As the years passed, the Prince and Princess fell into despair and lost all hope. For who could ever love such a beast?
