2. D - About the antagonist

Okay, so when I talked about the ship, I said that the Greek lit characters come from Sophocles’ Electra, but I suppose I should have said that most of them are from there. Because while Iphigenia is part of the family, she’s long (presumed, depending on the story) dead by the time the Electra takes place. Basically, according to the story, her father Agamemnon sacrifices her to Artemis, who had been offended by the killing of a deer on her sacred land, before the ships can take off for the Trojan War. In some versions, Artemis saves Iphigenia at the last minute and whisks her away to become a priestess at Taurus, where her job is basically to sacrifice any foreigners. If you read Euripides’ Iphigenia Among the Taurians, you can see that she’s not very happy with any of this or with her father, though I suppose you could probably guess that without reading the play…

Anyhow, back to the rest of the family: when Agamemnon returns from the war, he and his “prize” Cassandra are killed by his wife Clytemnestra and her lover Aegisthus. In the Electra, the only son of Agamemnon, Orestes, returns to kill his mother and Aegisthus in revenge for the killing of his father. My version of Iphigenia is rather bitter about that, considering that one of the reasons Clytemnestra cites for the murder of her husband is the killing of Iphigenia, and Iphigenia canonically has no sympathy for her father. Also, I may tweak the original story slightly so that Orestes never managed to find Iphigenia from Taurus, because I think that spending the rest of her life there would make her much more bitter.

So, yeah, Iphigenia is angered by her siblings’ attitude towards her “death” as opposed to how they feel about their father, and she brings them all into the modern world to teach them a lesson.

4. B - About the ship

Ah, Tom and Greg. I guess I may need a bit of background on the story before I can talk about them, so briefly: people have superpowers, but only if they already have some sort of disability. It’s not one-to-one, and there are plenty of people with disabilities but no powers, which is good, because the government wants to restrict the people with powers. The powers develop around the age of… I think now it’s become 17, and if you’re caught having abilities, the government will be after you. Which is why our characters are on the run.

Anyways, Greg has been at this far longer than Tom. He actually managed to escape prison once, with Tess, though to be fair, the police had picked them up for truancy and hadn’t realized they had powers. Anyways, he’s scouring the police databases, looking for other kids who might have powers, when he comes across Tom. It’s too much to resist, really - the potential to see, maybe even help, another kid like them - even though Tess is vehemently against it. Greg manages to catch up to Tom a bit after he’s just lost the police, though Tom doesn’t really stop to long enough to realize that Greg isn’t the police.

Having accidentally scared Tom, Greg brings him back to the apartment he’s holing up in with Tess. (Tess isn’t happy about having been ignored, but she gets used to Tom eventually.) For a while after that, Tom is too afraid to leave the apartment, and Greg tries to annoy him into going outside. He does this mainly by moving furniture around. Tom eventually catches on to what he’s doing, though.

I don’t know, they’re both just so snarky and they like to push each other’s buttons. But they can also be really sentimental and they’re very loyal to each other, when it comes down to it. In my opinion, they’re adorable and hilarious together. They’re such dorks! (I’m rereading things I wrote, and it’s wonderful. I love them.)

I’m sorry my post upset you :( I plan to delete it in a bit. I just needed to get that out of my system.

And maybe things are getting better and I’ve just got a bad grasp on things, it’s hard to see improvement when I’m constantly watching my friends get bullied, and getting bullied myself. When people say “bisexuality should be eliminated” I just hear “your friends should just fucking die”, and I don’t take kindly to that.

I know I might be fighting a losing battle. Maybe bisexuality will “die out” like they say. But “fighting an unwinnable battle because it needs to be fought” is everything I believe in, so. That’s what keeps me breathing.

And thanks for sending this. It made me feel a lot better. I do feel a lot better, after letting all that out, also.

IMPORTANT QUESTION! okay so the Addicted Series. I looked it up so I can read it. (points finger accusingly) but I was wondering there appears to be the addicted series and then the Calloway sisters series? what's the deal with that is it like a continuation or something, cause isn't Lil(l)y's last name Calloway? or are they totally different?

well basically there’s two series, the addicted series is from lily and lo’s pov, while the calloway sisters books are from rose+connor and daisy+ryke’s pov. But to be honest we all consider the books as one big series because while you can read one separate to the other, its so much better to read everything as one series!

Do you have any ideas about what happens with Jean's 3, Have you seen anything on your travels or have ideas of your own? Like I was wondering if he has it removed or covered up, or if he tries to burn/scratch it off. Does he keep it as a reminder?

oh, Jean. my baby jean. I feel like the presence of that 3 has a lot to do with how he deals with the aftermath of riko's death HERE. it will take a while for him to convince himself that there's really no one chasing him to drag him back to the nest, so I think he'd keep his 3 because he wouldn't want to risk the punishment if he dared doing what kevin did. (he was never allowed to be on the same level as kevin, he very well knows that)but then? then there's nothing, the void. there's a life built on violence and abuse with a single goal shoved down his throat together with the rest and he didn't want any of it, but does he have anything of his own left? after the nest he's surrounded by all these smiling people, supporting him, wanting good things for him, and what does he have left? he can't even walk to the grocery store alone without breaking down because the simple absence of a raven beside him makes him feel like he was balancing himself over the fine edge of a precipice, and now the counterweight has gone. he will fall.  remember what andrew told renee in son nefes? "There is only so much of me left, Renee! I am not giving the scraps to him to ruin." jean had them ruined. jean has and is nothing outside of the ravens. he keeps the 3 because it gives him identity. until it doesn't. until his body starts breaking down because after years of being wound up and braced for a violent impact, all the tension is leaving his muscles and bones, and he's as exhausted as he is enraged. that 3 becomes the symbol of everything that went wrong in his life, and he wants to destroy it for the single reason that he wants to erase every memory of it from his head. but how can he do that when by taking that away he's left with the absolute emptiness of a childhood he barely remembers now? he wants to destroy it and he can't, and he can but he doesn't want to, and they made him unable to want it but where does the ravens end and jean start? is it by keeping on walking everyday? is it by fighting against his past? is it by fighting against his teammates that have no idea what he went through and still dare to ask him to smile like it's the simplest thing in the world? is it by burning his tattoo away like neil? is it by covering it like kevin? for them it was a matter of claiming another identity, willing or unwilling that they might have been, but jean has this little problem that he has to built himself up from scratch, and he doesn't really know where that 3 and what it symbolizes stands in his new life. here, I think, jeremy comes in to have an important role as friend (and then as lover *cough cough*), as pillar, as that shadow in the edges of jean's field of vision that doesn't let him destroy himself. it will take time, and jean will need all the support from those friends he didn't ask to have, and his therapist, and the sport that now he can enjoy without fearing a beating for a wrong pass, and the "it's okay" during those nights where he wakes up screaming, and jeremy's thumb pressed on his 3, countering jean's "this makes me a monster" with "this makes you one of the strongest people I've ever had the honour to know" I'd like for jean to keep the 3 because differently from kevin’s covering his 2, and neil destroying his 4 (even before lola, he was about to put a knife on it if wymack hadn’t stopped him), he could take all his past and say "it happened, and this is the me now, and this 3 is like any other scar, and it's a reminder of what I survived" [this is my take on it and I find interesting for kevin, neil and jean to find three different ways to deal with their tattoos and what they mean. if anyone else has another take on it, I’m curious to read it :3 ]
